Insulation, radiant barrier, ridge vents, air conditioning & heating systems installation.
Contacted SA Specialties, found them on Angies List and read reviews. I called two other companies, got estimates from one of them and SA. One of the other companies did not get back to me in a timely manner and they were out of the running. All things being equal, my two estimates were fairly close. Made a decision on SA and called Vicky, my salesperson, she came back to house, we wrote up the order on Monday the 8th and today is the 11th at 6:23 pm and I have a complete new system installed cooling the upstairs and I'm a happy fellow. The crew was at the house at 9:00 am, installation began, at 4:00 they had installed everything and even vacuumed . It was a very easy install and what I consider quick too. Very easy to work with, very reasonable pricing, quick install and they use their own crews, no sub-contractors. If you are looking for new AC/Heating, call SA Specialties.

Overall great unit pricing and quality. Not clear about why we would be charged extras that other companies included in base price, and poor on communication - no follow-up and closing of deal.
Description of Work: We were looking to replace are two ac and furnace units for our home. We called SA Specialties to provide us a proposal. They arrived on-time and provided an estimate on the spot. They were the lowest price point of the four vendors we had provide proposals. There were five primary reasons we did not choose SA Specialties: 1. The estimate was provided on Friday afternoon 4/5/13. Cody Jordan indicated the estimate was good for the day only. Basically, he indicated the company resets the price each Monday and that they would need to re-estimate. He did change his mind and give us until Monday. As he said "he was doing this for us even if it got him in trouble with the company." 2. He did no measurements or computations to verify if the current systems were adequate or if they needed to be upgraded to higher or lower tonnage. 3. While they had the lowest price, they did not include a lot of things that other vendors pointed out would be problems. For example, no seal of ducts, using old plenums instead of replacing. They also replace the digital thermostat but without program features 4. They only give 1 year warranty on labor and the service agreement is an additional fee the first year. 5. They wanted to charge extra for stuff to bring the systems to code that others included in the price. The feeling was we might be "nickel and dimed" for things throughout the install. Like I say, they had the lowest price for the equipment and seer levels but the extras were not included. And last, we told Cody on Friday we were buying the following week and we never heard back from him. We had the new units from another company installed today 4/10/13.

Everyone at this company that we dealt with was professional and knowledgeable. The only problem encountered was a minor issue with the furnace installation, but it was corrected quickly and without any further issues. Also , they came back after the inspection and replaced a few connectors that were not a part of their required installation, but did it without additional charge.

We accepted the bid from SA Specialties after comparing with two other companies, one of which had been our HVAC provider for over twenty years. We were pleased with the several levels of system recommendations they made and decided to go with a 4-ton 16-SEER 2-stage system and replace the filtering system with one that would require less frequent filter changes. The work team arrived promptly and covered floor in repair paths before beginning work. They worked straight through the day to complete the replacement timely and in an efficient, professional manner.

Our work was done by the Dallas branch. They showed up on time. They went right to work removing all of the old equipment and even moved some of our stuff out of their way. They left the attic, upstairs and downstairs clean when they were finished. The Lennox system that they installed had an extended warranty good until 2022(hope it is valid). The two men were very friendly. SA Specialties has a 25 month, no interest, minimum monthly payment program that makes the economic hit easier. I would definitely use them again if(when) my downstairs system needs replacing(hopefully no sooner than 25 months from 11/06/2012).

The work that they did has really cut down on our energy bill. We are very happy with our unit and the gentleman who came out and completed the work. The only complaint that I may have is that they promised an inspection at 6 months and a year after completion and they did not come out. I had appointments scheduled that I initiated, but because of personal medical reasons, I had to cancel them. They still have not come out for the 6 month or annual inspection or tried to reschedule any appointments.

I called for an estimate of changing out my 25 year old Lennox heating and cooling system. The person on the phone was courteous and we were able to set an appointment for an estimate that same day. The sales person arrived on time and went to work immediately evaluating my attic mounted system and the outside unit. He called the Lennox distributor to verify that my existing unit was a 3.5 ton unit. He calculated what the cost would be to replace my unit with a like size Lennox system and quoted me the price for a 16 seer unit that was advertised in the newspaper, $4,800 for a complete change out. He also told me that our attic stairs would have to be removed in order that the new unit could be pulled into the attic. The cost to remove the stairs and reinstall them was $375. I had previously received bids from two other contractors and the SA price was the lowest for a similair system. I agreed to the price and the salesman was able to schedule installation the next day, February 21st. I had a Lennox system in my previous home in Dallas and changed it out after 30 years of use. The installation crew arrived on time and started work at 10:00 AM. They immediatley went to work removing the old system. Their contracted carpenter arrived exactly at the proper time and removed the attic stairs allowing the new unit to be changed out and the old unit removed. The stairs were promptly reinstalled so the techs could continue their work in the attic. Once the attic unit was installed, the old outside unit was removed and the new unit installed. The slab where my old unit had been installed had settled in the ground over the years. The techs leveled the slab and installed a new pad on top of the old slab. A perfect fit. The new unit now sits approximately 5 or so inches off the ground which will make it easier to trim around. From start to finish the change out took only 4 hours. Two days later an inspector from the City of San Antonio stopped by and inspected the system for compliance and safety. Approximatley three weeks after installation, I turned on the cooling system for the first time and it did not come on. I called SA after hours and left a message that my system would not cool. The following morning at 7:45 AM, someone from SA called to say that a person would be by that morning to check the system and make necessary repairs. At 8:15 AM, John arrived and immediatley went to work trouble shooting the system. He identified the problem very quickly and made the necessary repairs. Before he left I asked him if the fan speed could be lowered. He said yes and after returning to the attic adjusted both the cooling and heating fan speed. He explained to me why the cooling speed needed to be higher than the heating speed. I am very satisified with the adjustments he made to the fan speeds. SA Specialities does an excellent job and has outstanding customer service.

Overall they were prompt, did a quality job on the installation, and quoted a better price for a comparable system. I am pleased with the Lennox system they installed and with the insulation. Their workmen were professional and courteous and finished the job quicker than expected. The sales pitch was a little high pressure but since we were getting a good deal I was okay with it. Overall I would strongly recommend them and felt comfortable having them in our home.

Obtained multipe quotes from local vendors; SA Specialties had the best price and were the most knowledgable and professional. Replacement was scheduled for the following week. Office called the morning of work to inform me crew was on the way Crew of 3 showed up on time; very professional. First thing they did was to put down drop clothes on our floors and carpet for protection. We had replaced our carpets earlier the year so this was really appreciated. They finished the job in about 4 hours, tearing out the old units and replacing them with good quality Lennox units (SEER 14 AC unit/80% efficient furnace unit). Upon completion, I was informed of a couple of items that needed attention--during some prior attic work, the vendors removed some of the strapping that provided support for the ductwork and did not reattach the strapping--some of the ducts were no longer supported and it could cause issues going forward. Also, some of the radiant barrier added to the underside of the roofing was not cut back 2 inches from the exhaust vents for the furnace or hot water heater units--a possible fire hazard. They also noticed that the other units did not have float switches installed on the pans and could cause a flooding issue in the attic if not corrected. I was very impressed with SA Specialties and plan on using them for my semi-annual HVAC maintenance contract. I will use them again and recommend them highly to anyone looking for a good HVAC conractor with good products at a fair price.

I emailed the company on a Wednesday, they responded Thursday morning and set up an appointment Saturday. Already a good sign to me that they would accommodate my request for an appointment on such a short notice. Salesmt came out on time and even called to let me know he was on the way. Great price and great reviews made me trust them so I had them come out Monday to replace the whole inside/outside a/c units. They showed up on time Monday ready to work....very professional. It took them about 1hr longer to replace the units than they estimated but shrine the whole installation, they kept me informed on what they were doing so I felt a part of the installation too..and that was a good feeling. They finished, cleaned up everything nicely and was very professional. Highly recommended to anyone that needs a/c replacement!

My family and I recently relocated to San Antonio, Texas from Columbus, Ohio in mid-2012. Needless to say, we have been overwhelmed with the size of San Antonio, the competitive HVAC scene and of course some un-godly CPS energy bills. With that said, we knew when we bought our home that our primary HVAC system needed replaced and we were able to negotiate some of the replacement cost into our closing. Initially, we were quoted between $4,000 and $8,200 dollars from a neighborhood HVAC guy as well as another seller-initiated quote (though his quote was only a partial system replacement quote). Anyway, due to some more important home improvement needs we decided to roll the dice and wait until the ?cool? season to replace our HVAC unit. Our primary outdoor unit was 12 years old and our primary indoor, air handler was a 1983, GE model. I used Angie?s List to research some HVAC contractors in the local area. There were a handful of contractors that seemed prominent in our local area and I decided to contact two of them; SA Specialties being one of them. Initial Contact: My initial call to the company was promptly answered and within a few minutes an appointment was scheduled for the same afternoon. I can?t count how many times I was referred to as ?sir? (seems to be common here in Texas), but as a former Marine ? who refers to most people as sir or ma?am, I really appreciate it. Initial Sales Call: David was the salesman / account rep that visited us at our home. David was very courteous and went out of his way to answer my questions. As I would expect from a ?sales guy? David was quick to establish common ground with me. However, I am convinced he was truly interested in getting to know me and earn the business. David also let me know that the company was offering an end-of-year special that I was not aware of, that ultimately would make a difference in how much we would spend relative to how much we had budgeted. I am not talking about hundreds of dollars, but thousands of dollars. Additional Research: After the initial quote, I did some research on the equipment that SA Specialties was quoting. Initially, I was skeptical of the Lennox brand (versus Trane), but after reaching out to some trusted HVAC advisors back in Ohio as well as some Consumer Reports research, I became more accepting of the Lennox brand. Also, during the research process I had a few questions that I needed answered regarding the specific equipment models we were quoted as well as a few other models I had interest in. One of the owners from SA Specialties (Jason) responded within a few hours of me asking questions over email, by calling me and having a conversation. Thank you Jason! Ultimately, I did go with the Lennox brand, though I requested a different indoor, air-handling unit model based off some trusted advice and to further reduce our energy costs. While this added roughly $1K to our initial quote, this was my decision and not an up sell by SA Specialties. Shortly after talking with Jason, I called my sales rep (David), we closed the deal and scheduled an install date for 12/31/2012. Install Date: The install crew arrived at our home on time. We were even given a courtesy call by the office about 30 minutes prior to the crew arriving. ?J? and ?R? were a great team. They were very courteous and commenced work immediately. Within minutes of arriving, they had laid down drop clothes to minimize the amount of dirt and wear / tear on our floor. The install took about 4.5 hours to complete. I stayed out of their way, but when they were finished, they showed me the equipment, answered my questions and cleaned up after themselves. I was very impressed with the work that was performed. While they were testing the system we quickly noticed faster heat, faster cooling, more air coming out of our vents and more noticeable vacuum in the primary, return air vent (enough to pull one of our master bedroom doors shut). Granted, this is only part of the test ? but we are optimistic that this will be the norm and that we will recoup our investment in the next five to seven years. During the install we were contacted by David to ensure everything was going all right. At the end of the install we paid the cost of the job. That was another interesting part of this deal; SA Specialties did not require half the cost up front ? they just wanted paid at the end of the job. Conclusion: Overall, we are very happy with SA Specialties and just as happy that we have a reliable HVAC system in our home that will save us money now, in the years to come and make our home more comfortable. I highly recommend SA Specialties and intend on calling them again in the next few months for a smaller job regarding our upstairs HVAC system. Thank you SA Specialties!

Our experience with SA Specialties could not have been any more positive. Doug Nentwich listened with care to our wishes, discussed our needs, examined our system, and provided us with precise details of what SA Specialties could do for us. Doug was extremely professional, friendly, thorough, and knowledgeable. The estimate for the work from SA Specialties was quite good - certainly much less than some other companies. The crew that installed our new system (Ray, Joe, and Chris) was extremely thorough, incredibly fast, very friendly, neat and tidy, and a joy to have in our home. I still cannot believe they were able to install the air handler through the restricted opening into our attic! I would enthusiastically recommend SA Specialties to anyone needing their services.

SA Specialties provided a complete analysis of the appropriate system and several options for cost and efficiency. The estimator arrived on time and was very straightforward and knowledgeable. The following week they installed a Trane system. We chose them and this system because the prices quoted were several thousand dollars less than another company (also on Angie's list) and the range of options offered was much more complete as was the information about the systems themselves. The workmen arrived on time and finished the complete change out in about five hours. They were very professional and competent and cleaned up completely. I would highly recommend this company.

Great Work. SA Specialties worked with me on additional repairs needed to my Townhome. Outside units were on the first floor roof and the area of roofing under them needed replacement. Helped me by scheduling around my roofing contractor repair. A crane was needed to lift off the old units from the roof so the roofer could start the roof replacement. While the roofer was at work the guys changed out the funaces and coils inside the house. Work was exceptional. Great Attention to detail. Cleaned up as they went along. Inside work finished up before the roofer were done so the guys left and came back later in the evening and installed the outside units and did not leave until finished. They showed up right on time and did not leave until all was finished. Even installed the new setback thermostats I had purchased. With the installers expertice they were able to save me $400 by using the crane only once to remove and install the new units on the roof. I was so impressed when all was finished new 'quiet' units and energy savings will be an added bonus for years to come.

From the beginning, SA Specialties was very honest and forthcoming about the process. They were the last company from whom I had received a quote. I had already decided to go with another company before speaking with them. I was glad I had because they beat the competitions' prices by at least $2000. I didn't want to just consider price, but also quality which they exceeded my expectations. Their honesty and understand (along with their price) ensured me that they were the right choice. The installation took longer than expected, but there was a manufacturer's defect and they fixed it immediately. Great quality and great company!! We highly recommend them to everyone!
