SA Specialties

On July 17th S.A. Specialities installed a new AC system in our home. The crew was very professional and very helpful in explaining the new system, and our home is cool like it has NOT been in years. Also,they left everything clean and neat. I had received two other bids for the work, and theirs was the best by far.

The price, quality of the installation and the crew were all very good. There was a minor issue 1 week after the installation. They came out promptly and rectified the issue. I am very happy with their work!

They had to come out a few times to tweak things. There was nothing unusual about that I suppose.

Our air conditioner went out on Wednesday night and we were miserable. I called Jet Mechanical & requested they come and give us an estimate along with installation. They did not make it to our home until Thursday afternoon and gave a ridiculously high price estimate. Fortunately, I looked at Angie's List and fund SA Specialties who came out the same afternoon (Jet Mechanical was still in their truck in front of our home). The technician gave a fabulous price estimate and high level product. The very next morning, they arrived to install our new air conditioning system at 8:00 AM. They were finished by 1:30 PM which included time to cap a 14" return duct that was not connected to Return. When I came home from work at around 6:00 PM, my home was cooled down and we were happy! The next day I printed out the CPS form to fill out for credit; before I had a moment to fill it out, SA Specialties had filled it out for us and provided all the information and our forms were sent in the mail today. Furthermore, I went on the Lennox website to register our unit for extended warranty AND SA Specialties had already done that for us. SA Specialties is the only company I will EVER recommend to anyone. We know how precious cool air is! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

After a dispute with our Home Warranty company we chose to go with SA Specialties. Good work done Good service I will use them again as I have an upstairs unit as well and do not trust anyone First American sends.

They were honest and reasonable, and they were professional during our interactions. Furthermore, they did a good job with the installations and stuck to their original estimate.

The installation crew (Mario,William & Rafael) arrived on time and even though it rained very hard for some time ,they completed the job in a most professional manner.It's only been a day but we are so pleased with the product and installation.The units are so quiet . We are anxious to see how the Seer will affect our electric bill.

Sales rep presented three options. We chose the one that offered tax credit. Company followed up to confirm appointment and crew arrived as scheduled. Job took about 7 hours. Technician showed me all the work performed. Crew cleaned up before leaving. No problems since.

SA Specialties were the first company to come out and give me a bid. I wanted to compare apples to apples so only dealt with companies that serviced Trane. They were the lowest price but not by much. What convinced me was the price, product, the option to utiized the financing, and the fact they were on Angie's list. I was told the duct work was installed incorrectly when the home was built and that they would correct it. I decided on a 14 seer unit instead of the 13 because I wanted a better system than what was suggested for power an hopefully to help manage my costs. Bottom line, they replaced the unit when they said and were very professional. After the unit was installed, I noticed the master bed room was hotter than the rest of the house. When I addressed this with them, I was told they could add more duct work for $200. When the service guy came out, he agreed and called his office. They said $300 and I told him of the quoted price of $200 and they agreed to put in the new duct work for $200. The bedroom is still hotter than the rest of the house even after the duct work. I'm not completely happy. The rest of the house is cool even at 78 degrees which is really nice but the bedroom is at lease 5 degrees hotter. Very noticeable. There was also mix up with the financing company. SA Specialties need to communicate better with them. I wound up making calls to them to them to straighten everything out. There seems to be a major lack of follow up. They do the job and are on their way. It would be in their best interests to follow uo with a phone call or a letter asking how everything went.

They guy that came was very professional and very nice. He is an older gentleman which made comfortable. He has a good price compared to another company. The only negative thing about them when the guys came out. They were uncured in their mannerism. I didn't feel like one or three of them were great. They were kind of unprofessional. One of the other guys will never bring the stuff. The guy pushed it too far and he hit all the other units into our piano and he looked really angry, he scared me. They didn't put down the unit and went outside very angry and he was trying to hold his anger at him. So it was kind of scary and it was very uncomfortable.

This was the company that installed one of my A/C units approx 2 yrs ago. I was very pleased with the unit and the installation. I called them to do an annual check of both of my A/C units and to purchase 2 service contracts; one per unit, one of which was older and installed by another company. At the time that I scheduled the original service check, I did not have a problem with either unit. I just wanted the annual check and to purchase the service contracts. Immediately after they checked the units, I felt as though my older unit was not cooling effectively. I was also unhappy with the way they did not seal the older unit after it was serviced. I called the company and asked that they send another service technician to check the second unit. The company sent the same technician that I was unhappy with the first time. He was very defensive and I asked him to leave before he did any work. I called the company and they were very receptive to my complaint and were willing to work with me. They did refund most of the money that I paid for the 2 service contracts that I cancelled. I like the company, but I do not trust that particular technician and would not want to take the chance of getting him again. I called another company to check out the second system. They sent a technician who sealed the unit better but said that the coolant level was fine. The unit still did not seem to cool as well as it did before I had the unit inspected by the SA Specialties technician. Finally, I called a third company that was referred to my husband by a co-worker. The technician added coolant and FINALLY the second unit cooled efficiently, as it did before ever being checked initially. However, this whole process cost me approximately $800. Response to Response. S A Specialties may have refunded me the full amount; I can't confirm at this late date without checking the invoices; but their technicians DID NOT advise me of the furnace door not being sealed at the time of service. Rather, they told me that everything was "okay". Another contractor doing work on another project in my attic pointed it out to me. Also, I was not taken advantage of; the third company did a great job,

I spoke with Doug Nentwich (210) 658-0440 at SA Specialties and he was able to meet me at the house that same afternoon for evaluation and estimate. We were looking for a turn-key job on a 13 SEER Trane complete conventional system for this 1221 sf home. His price beat everybody in San Antonio. He was courteous and knowledgeable and kept his word on the price, the install time and all the details involved. The crew showed up on time and the 3 of them make quick work (about 4 hours) of replacing everything necessary and adding a few upgrades as well without additional cost! I was exceptionally pleased with this Company and would highly recommend them in a second! Later that afternoon I was informed that the fan blower motor was in a recall and they would be out the next day to swap it out under warranty . That's exactly what happened and the job was done in 30 minutes. To put things in perspective, the lowest bid I'd received till then was $7,335 for a complete Trane 13 seer system, his bid was $4,330 and no 'surprises. The installation went fine, when the equipment was installed and operating I then realized I was completely satisfied, it is very noisy.

The price included a 10 year parts and labor warranty. I had researched air conditioning companies for about 7 months. They were by far the most professional and competent installers. I put a note in our homeowners news association because they were that good. They were 25% cheaper than any of the others and they did more than they promised. They did it really well.

The duration of the work was scheduled to last for approximately nine hours. The work crew arrived on time, performed the work in an orderly and professional manner, and completed the work on time. The new system works as intended.

These guys and gals are first class all the way ? They gave me an estimate they stuck to it. They also made good recommendation to us followed through with the service the very next day ? Nice people and awesome job - No complaints so far

They did an excellent job. They were prompt and courteous. They did a fine job putting the unit in and replacing what needed to be replaced. The price was very good too.

Faced with replacing both 4 and 5 ton units, received 6 quotes. Vickie Barnett was very helpful in providing details and an affordable quote. While many other companies started there quote higher and were willing to come down, Vickie priced the equipment appropriately from the initial estimate. Vickie was very knowledgeable and quick in responding to questions. Out of the 6 estimates, the SA Specialties was my 2nd choice, but I wouldn't have hesitated to go with them. Strongly recommend getting an estimate and considering SA Specialties when replacing AC units, as they got me focused on the right amount I would need to spend.

They ran into a little issue with my utilities closet where the A/C unit is located. The room is much smaller due to the age of my home. They were able to get the A/C unit in the room with a little bit of modification to the room. They switched the door from one side of the room other and changed the trim. They did a great job! They were quick to fix any issues that I did have with the work the same day I called and are very service oriented.

Everything went as planned. Three weeks after the unit was installed, it stopped working on Saturday around 5pm. We called SA Specialties and someone got back in touch with us within 5 minutes. They walked us through a couple of possibilities and we discovered that our son had turned the switch off accidently. We turned the switch on and the unit was working. It was nice to know that they answered the phone on Saturday afternoon and they would have come out on Sunday to fix it if necessary.

fSorry for the delay in this review. Mr. Alan J. Clark a Sales coordinator for SA Specialties was great. The best of the three or four individuals who gave me an estimate. Alan was extremely articulate and very knowledgeable about there products. Good documentation. We set up a delivery date and the crew of 4 was on time. Mario, Rafael, Joser and Jorge. Can't believe it only took one day. They covered the carpets going in to the attic. Everything went extremely well. They removed all the trash and left no mess. The best part is that they financed the entire operation for 25 months interest free.

Tech was on time and did the job effiecently, very friendly and worked fast. They cleaned up their mess inside and outside. They informed us that our air back flow was too small for the square footage of the house and explained to us the importance of having the correct size back flow which would keep the a/c more effcient, also explained diffirent units and size that would be best for our size house. I feel like they did a good job, offered fiancing and was priced fairly. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone. My electrical costs have gone down by 35-40% with this new unit.

Our upstairs air conditioner stopped cooling so I first called my A/C service company for repairs. They advised a replacement and sent someone out a couple of days later to give me a quote. Meanwhile I scheduled five additional companies to give me quotes. The unit in question cools the upstairs where we have three guest rooms and a recreation room. We go up there primarily in the evening to watch TV and we only occasionally have guests using the bedrooms. I explained all of this in an email sent to all of the companies that I requested quote the job. I explained in the email that the compressor location was where we could not hear it inside the house or in the yard. I also explained the light use and that the indoor air exchanger unit sounds did not bother us. I noted that I was looking for the bidders to recommend the best unit for our purposes and to give me the reasons for the recommendation. I also stated that the warranties would be very important to me. Finally, I advised that we had a house guest scheduled to arrive the following Wednesday so we needed the system to be installed before then. On May 8 and 9 I met with representatives of all of the companies and asked them to give me written quotes with supporting documentation related to their recommendations not later than noon May 11 and I committed to make a decision by 2PM on May 11. I received quotes from all of the companies and chose SA Specialties because, although theirs was not the cheapest quote, it was the most compelling. Some touted quiet operation ( a feature that clearly was of no value to us), and/or very high efficiency ( another feature that was of very limited value to us since the system would be used quite sparingly). One offered a low price but the equipment appeared to be of low quality and the warranty was quite limited. SA Specialties' recommendation made sense to me and they were willing to schedule the installation for the Tuesday before our guest was scheduled to arrive. One of the other companies was unable to commit to install on time. I chose SA Specialties and their sales rep. came back to my home that evening to close the deal. On the morning of May 15 a crew of four men came at about 8AM. It was raining very hard and a lot of the prep work to install in indoor unit had to be done outside, They installed a tent-like structure at the back of their truck and they had rain gear. They laid plastic down to protect our carpeting and they removed their dirty and wet shoes or boots each time they entered our house. They finished the installation in about 7-8 hours if my recollection is accurate. About 9 months after the installation SA Specialties called to schedule a follow-up inspection of the unit. We could not be happier and we have referred them to friends and neighbors.

On the day of installation the crew was a half hour late. They did not turn off the gas supply when changing the gas valve. The thermostat wire and the refrigerant tubes were put on top of the furnace instead of under which limits the passageway by the furnace. The gas supply line should be one long piece but they installed three short pieces which increases potential for future leaks. The supply phenom was suppose to have dampers for each duct they were not installed. Mastic sealant was left in the back yard and our dog found it when he went out which could have been a potential hazard for the dog. They contacted me further and apologized. They came back and took care of all of our concerns. The new person who came was very professional and punctual.

Exceptional value delivered and absolutely outstanding level of service. Scheduled install went flawlessly on Friday. One hiccup post-install was a water spot that appeared in the ceiling of our daughter's room Saturday morning - some old PVC pipe cracked during install but was not visible due to insulation - made a call to SA Specialties and had an employee at the house to fix the problem within an hour. The next week, they sent out another employee to come and paint the water spot over at their expense. We have another A/C unit to replace in the next couple of years, I will simply contact SA Services for this job when the time comes.
