Our 20 year old A/C began to malfunction in late October. We immediately got quotes from three different well-known San Antonio companies and we were amazed at the price of two of them! But SA Specialties offered us the tail-end of a deal they had been running over the summer. There was no high pressure to purchase a unit within a certain amount of time or lose the discount offered as the two other companies had used. When the day of the install came, we were impressed by the professionalism of the team that arrived. The workers were careful to take off shoes or cover shoes to make sure our home stayed clean while they installed the central unit in the attic. They communicated with me as the process went on, and were thorough to explain the unit before their departure. They left our home clean, the unit was installed correctly, and they were kind the whole time. It has been almost three years that the unit has been in place and we have had no problems with it. SA Specialties recommended the correct size unit for our home and we are thankful all summer long! The focus of SA Specialties is good quality heating and A/C installation and not high pressure sales. Their prices, friendliness, and workmanship reflect this.

It went well. We did they contract and they were here the next day. They were here for only one day. The pricing was awesome; it was about $5,000.00 less than what we should have paid. They put in a Lennox model. When the ac comes on it’s really quite. They guys that installed the system were awesome; they replaced the breakers and did a lot of things for us. My grandson was asking them questions about the unit and they were telling him how it works and didn’t mind at all. We told them what we want, they didn’t try to up sell us or give us something we didn’t want. They saved us money but telling us about rebates we qualified for, they filled out the paper work for us and we just had to sign it. We also got a life time warranty.

Pretty poor with them honoring their service agreement. I just bought this property and the previous home owner had the a/c unit installed. I tracked down the company after purchasing a Big Deal and realizing the installation was very bad. The unit has not worked for months. The company said because it was a week out of warranty that they were not going to do anything and did not care that it was installed improperly.

They were outstanding. I was shocked, absolutely perfect every step of the way.

They were expecptional from start to finish & the qualty of work was great. They did show up late but their work made up for it. They were informatie & well advised on what I needed.

I have a 2400 sq ft home and had a Lennox 5 ton 18 SEER system installed. The 3 installers were all prompt and professional. They never stopped for a break or lunch. They arrived by 9 am had the system installed and added additional insulation at .70 cents a sq ft. They were done by 4pm.

Very pleasant to deal with in all aspects thru the process - from estimator (Bobby), the office staff and the installation crew (Mario, Rafael, William). They showed up on time when providing estimate and diring installation. Did exactly what was promised and walked thru the details of the work done after install completed, cleaned up after themselves and did a very good job overall. Their estimate was not the lowest one, but was competitive and reasonable when compared to others. I checked them out on BBB and Angie's List before deciding to go with them. Unit has been working over six months now, no issues so far. I would recomend them to my friends and family.

We bought a new ac/heater and after quotes from other companies, and one company who would not even tell me what a certain size ac/heater unit would cost< I call SA Specialties. Our ducts were all fine, except for some small spots that were leaking air, these were spots we already knew about so he proved his honesty on that point. He didn't try and upsell us, he answered all of our questions and let us decide what we wanted to purchase. The company did all the registrations for the warranty and I received the paperwork within 4 days of purchase. The installation was done on time and took less time that expected. The maintenance service calls have been timely and all is well. We are very satisfied and will continue to use them.

They are excellent in all categories. They have good price, good service, good responsiveness and excellent management.

I was having trouble with a 7 year old Payne system and got fed up with it when one serviceman wanted about $800 to try and solve the problem. I refused to dump this amount on a lousy system and started looking for a whole new system. I noticed SA Specialities ad in the Dallas Morning News and decided to get a quote. Vicki, the salesperson, was polite and knowledgeable and quoted a price of $4398 installed. I then checked with 2 other Trane dealers in Plano and got 2 quotes that were 2-3000 dollars higher for the same equipment. I then tried to find ratings of SA Specialities and when I found the rating on Angies List I decided I would buy. The installation went well and both installers were professional and polite and seemed to know what they were doing. They finished in about 4-5 hours and cleaned up satisfactorily compared to most service people now days.The system cooled quite well the first week compared to the junker Payne it replaced but suddenly we noticed that the room temp on the thermostat would change quickly when you adjusted the set temp on it. I placed a service call and they came on the day I requested. The tech discovered the Aprilaire thermostat was faulty and replaced it. Here is where SA Specialities lost points on quality equipment. I still thought it was just one of those things that happens but approximately 2 weeks later when we returned from a 3 day trip and wanted a little heat to take the chill out of the house, the heat pump and fan would not come on. Now more points have been lost, especially when I called SA Specialities the next morning and was told they were booked today but had an opening the next day. Quite put out-you sell a customer a brand new unit that is not a month in service and cannot give same day service? I am now waiting for the service tech and I believe it will be another faulty thermostat. I will update this post with results, if possible. . It indeed was another bad thermostat and wires in the air handler. How can wires in air handler suddenly be connected wrong when the system heated before? More points lost. Now it was time for the city to make their inspection and the inspector failed the electrical portion of the install due to romex not going all the way into the junction box. SA Specialities sends their repairman on day requested and he fixes electrical problem. After he leaves I am placing some items back into the closet and uint is running. I notice a lot of air escaping from the left side of the unit. Further investigation reveals the panel on the air handler is not sealing. I look further and find the wire cable that was worked on the prior visit is now pinched between the panel and body of the air handler. I reroute it on my own and successfully close the panel and no air leak. Now I notice where the pvc pipe exits the drain pan is not tight and water is leaking. I now can't believe what I am finding. I call the phone number I have for SA Specialities the next day and the person says, "Thanks for calling One Hr. AC and Heating" At this point I am flabergasted. I start asking questions and find that SA Specialities has sold out to the One Hour company. I was told they would handle my problems and schedule follow up inspection. I thought I had a good company after doing my home work and checking Angies List but I was mistaken. I should change the overall rating to F and I think I will. SA Specialities should have notified their customers of this change at least by e mail. I am completely dissatisfied.

Everything turned out well. Ray Jensen was great and both Ray and Phil worked very hard and they did a good job. The service was very prompt, fast, and they were courteous. David Laluz was helpful and very easy to work with.

I called SA Specialities and another company to get quotes on replacing our existing heat pump system. The SA Specialities quote came in almost $3000 less than the other company, plus they offered a 25 months, no interest loan. They also gave me the option of adding the 4" filter system, which I did not want, whereas the other company included it. SA Specialities arrived the next morning right when they said they would and the system was up and running and cooling the house by noon. They also took care of the paperwork to get the CPS rebate and gave me what I will need to get the federal tax credit. I would definitely recommend SA Specialities for a new air conditioning or heat pump system. SA Specialties was one of three company that provided quotes for replacing my old heating and cooling system. They offered a competitive price and took time to answer my questions during the bidding process. The installers were on time and completed the installation in a few hours. Ray was very professional. The guys responded to my request about providing a platform for the plenum in the attic. I've been peased with the new system. My only critique is that the cleanup in the attic could have been a little better. A short time after the installation I had the need for a call back to address a vibration where the tubing goes through the exterior wall. The service call was the same day as my call and the problem was resolved.

They were cheap and it showed. They left a mess in my home when the work was done. I have had to make 8 service calls since the unit was installed and had to replace a coil. I was told that the installation was done poorly. The only good thing about this experience was that they were responsive to my calls. Other than that, I was disappointed.

My existing builder grade A/C system died tragically on 9/7 in the early morning hours. I spent the rest of the HOT week dealing with various A/C companies that just gave me outrageous prices or would not provide me a written bid. I finally signed up for AngiesList on 9/13 and after a quick search found SA Specialties. I called them around 4:00 PM. The phone was answered quickly and an appointment was setup for the following morning at 10:00 AM. The Sales Process: The sales person who that came our house examined our existing A/C system and discussed the various options that we had available. He offered to let us choose from several different manufactures and listed the pro/cons of each. He gave me a very reasonable written bid for a Lennox system which we accepted. He was also the ONLY company of the 5 I called that came out and looked at our old system to give us a written bid. He scheduled our install for the following Monday and was on his way to his next appointment. Our overall experience with the sales person was very positive. The Installation: We got a call Monday morning from the office who told us the 3-man installation crew would be early that morning. They arrived about an hour early. They were all polite and friendly. They quickly covered the wood floor/carpet areas where they would be working and promptly started to remove the old equipment. Throughout the day, the lead installer took time to explain to me what they were doing and he would answer any questions I had. They finished around 5:00 PM. I was given a tour of the new system both in the attic and outside. I was also shown how to operate the new thermostat. Before they left, they did a nice job of cleaning up the work areas which included the front yard and then thanked me for choosing their company. It took the house about 3 hours to cool down from 98 to 74. That night the house was COLD and my wife and kids were very happy. In addition to the installers, the sales person came out that around 2:00 PM to make sure everything was going fine and to see if we had any questions or concerns, The Follow-up: A week later I received a thank you letter in the mail as well as a printout of our extended warranty registration. We got a 10 year warranty on all parts and a year on labor. We have already decided we are going to use SA Specialties for any future A/C work we need.

Was able to talk directly with the owner, in person. By far this was the best price as compared to other providers. Installation went smoothly. Couple of minor glitches that were taken care of quickly. Good products and good people.

These folks were so pleasant to deal with - from estimator to office representative to the installation crew, the whole experience was as stress free as one could ask for. They showed up on time to install, did exactly what was promised, cleaned up after themselves and did an excellent job. I was really shocked when, two days after I signed an agreement, they called me to say the price had dropped significantly and would rewrite the agreement. When does that ever happen?? I'm only sorry that I don't have another house to use them for. These folks are truly "good people".

This business is fantastic. I would highly recommend. They quoted a fair price and then performed professional work and did all the paper worked and sent it to me. They were great. The sales person was informative and very pleasant to work with. The crew came in and did the work. The office send me all the paperwork. What more could you ask for. And, it is cool in house....

Shopping for a new A/C - heat pump for a 2nd house. We had researched many options last year for our primary residence and spoke with several companies (Jon Wayne, Beyer Boys, Texperts to name a few) when we saw the ads for SA Specialties and gave them a call. All of the companies mentioned had great representation and got back to us quickly with details and prices. SA Specialties beat everyone in price (Texperts was close) and the ads this year were comparable. Much smaller unit replacement required in the 2nd house-I called and left a message on Sunday regarding their recent ad. They returned the call Monday and set up an appointment to see the house the same week. I opted to wait one week to have the unit installed as other remodelers were also scheduled to work-have it done at once. I had a TRANE heat pump but asked Roger for the quietest model since my return is in the main living area. Roger suggested a RUUD for quiet operation which came with the same warranty as the TRANE 15 SEER, slightly more expensive but worth it for the noise reduction. I also opted for the durable filtration (one year change out) as I have heard a lot of good comments from friends and relatives with newer systems regarding the performance. SA Specialties was early for their appointment which was fine with the renter, set up drop clothes had the old system out and the new system with wiring, ductwork, thermostat and outside base installed and running in under 4 hours. Workers were courteous, conscientious, on time and left their areas clean. The RUUD 2.5 SEER heat pump is quiet and has dropped the utility bills, and no more worries about renters changing out the filters! The office was quick on the rebate paperwork and provides all forms with clear directions to apply for rebates and/or federal tax breaks if applicable. We have recommended them to our family and everyone has been pleased with the results. The work is under warranty and they will provide a service check with installation. Why pay more for the same product? If you need HVAC work done, give SA Specialties a call, you won't be sorry!
