Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

We had a clogged toilet that led to another leak downstairs and called RotoRooter because the company assigned our home warranty claim couldn't come out for at least another day, whereas RR was able to come out within an hour. Wil the service technician was able to diagnose the problem right away as the main line and proceeded to clear it out. It turns out that some tree roots had caused a pipe to break and Wil gave us some information on what would need to be done to fix the problem completely and some questions to ask the warranty service technician when he makes it out here. Excellent, prompt and courteous service. We will definitely be calling them soon as root damage is not covered by the warranty and we'd prefer to go with a company that we know and trust if we have to pay out of pocket anyway.

Roberto arrived on time (early actually) and looked at my problem. He concurred that the drain was clogged (which, of course, we knew). He quoted me a price of $280.00. I asked him how long it might take. He replied 1/2 an hour or so. So, I asked, your hourly fees are $560.00? ?That sounds kind of steep? I said. I told him I would rather get a few more bids. Then he replied: ?Well, how about 150.00?? I told him go ahead, as I really did not want to jack around waiting for other contractors to come by and give me a few more bids. He proceeded to get his drain cleaning snake and cleaned out the drain form the outside clean out valve. 22 minutes later he was done. My only complaint is that it seems they are charging egregiously high fees for an incredibly simple task. Had I not told him I was not going to pay that much and challenged his bid, I would be out 280.00 for 22 minutes of work. How many unsuspecting single Mom?s at home get taken for a 280.00 dollar ride every time they have a clogged drain? To be fair, Roberto was polite and performed the job satisfactorily and quickly. I just did not like Roto Router?s ethics in pricing. I am sure the company thrusts these policies upon him, so it is most likely not his fault. He is just towing the company line?no fault of his. Summation: They did good work, but if you invite them to bid your job ALWAYS question and haggle on price. Obviously their terms are negotiable. My "Professionalism" mark of D was referring to the company, not Roberto their plumbing tech.

The work done by Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services Company turned out to be fine. The technicians were very professional. Their price was adequate. They were very helpful in figuring out the source of the problem. They figured out that it was the city’s problem so we called the city to take care of it. I would use them again in the future whenever required.

overall, had a great experience with the company. i think it was a weekend when i called and they had someone out the same day within a couple of hours. i was pleasantly surprised by how fast they were able to have someone there. he was polite and identified the problem quickly, told me what he would be doing and how long it would take. i think he was in and out in less than an hour.

Great! I thought I was going to have to replace the line and I said as much to the technician. He examined the tank and inlet to the tank. He unclogged the drain and left me with products to keep it that way. He also gave me tips to keep grease from the sink moving. In short he could have sold me a new line but instead he fixed the problem very reasonably (saved me several thousand dollars). I have used them several times and they have been as ethical and helpful EVERYTIME. I will certainly use them again and again if necessary.

First let me start by saying for a Sunday afternoon service they did a fair job overall. I called at 1pm to make an appointment and the nice lady on the phone said they would be there within an hour. At 4:30pm they showed up at the door. The gentlemen was very nice and professional. I showed him the problems and he give me two different pricing options. Option #1 was 157.00 and Option #2 was 357.00, little to say I choose option #1. Within 45 minutes he was done.

Gentleman arrived, checked out the problem and provided me with estimate to repair. While I was a little supprised at he amount, I gave him to go ahead to repair. Individual was very courteous and after finishing job. he assured that work wa gaurenteed for one year. Have had no problems since.

The worker was professional and I haven't had any issues since.

Drains were drastically clogged. Could hear gurgling the entire house. I had the septic system pumped, but the problem was water not flowing into the septic system. A tree had pushed the exterior pipes from the house to the septic system and forced the pipe to bend uphill from the house to the septic system. The mainline under the house was bowed downward and was replaced at the same time. The work was performed within day after I called and things are now problem free.

Tim (repairman) was prompt and was very nerat in appearence. He prepared an estimate which I approved and began work immeadiately. He worked non-stop until leak had been repaired. He explained problem in detail and assured me that I had a one year guarantee. I will certainly use this company again. and would recommend them to anyone who has a plumbing problem.

None of our toilets was flushing so we looked up Angie's List for a plumber. They were the first one on the list, have pretty good reviews and a $30 coupon for members. We called them (it was a Saturday) and I asked if they charge anything for checking what was wrong with our plumbing. They said they will give us an estimate after they assessed the problem and we can tell them if we want them to do it or not. It took around an hour for someone to get to our house. They unclogged our pipe with their tools that had a camera at the end so that you can see what was clogging the pipes. After that, all our toilets were working again. The $30 coupon really helped a lot. I am not sure how much other plumbers charge but their efficiency and effectiveness was well worth the price we paid.

Calls are dispatched from Chicago, so the first available plumber takes the call. I didn't need one for an emergency issue, but a plumber arrived within one hour as promised. They won't give quotes over the phone, so be prepared with other bids for the job because they will start high. The work was completed correctly the first time with no leaks of problems. The plumber Johnny, was polite, knowledgeable and cleaned up after himself.

It went well. He seemed knowledgeable, clean, quick and efficient. We want to obtain more estimates to check on the pricing for the other work.

After the arrival Jeff and John appraised the problem, a stuck toilet, and made it UNSTUCK. Very good service.

We contacted Roto-Rooter at their main dispatch number for evening service to clear a clogged kitchen sink drain. The operator promised a plumber within the hour, but refused to give any estimate or price range, indicating that the estimate was no charge and no obligation, but required an on-site evaluation. We made it clear that an unreasonable price would mean refusal of their service. We already had two phone estimates $140 - $150 - but no arrival estimate. Our plumber arrived in under an hour, as promised. He took a quick look and quoted us $217. When told that was much too high, his response was that he was already here and did we really want to wait for someone else? We told him we had 2 other much lower estimates and he asked how much they were. We told him and he dropped to $175. We said $150 max, or no deal. He asked for $160 and we restated our max, which he agreed to accept for the service. Because we held firm on pricing, it was written in on the invoice that there was no warranty on the service. The drain service was then quickly, neatly and effectively completed and he followed up by checking the outside access to further confirm good water flow. Good service, but stupid adversarial pricing game.

We have done business with them before. They were really fast and the guy was out here within an hour after I called. He diagnosed the problem quickly and he listened to what we had to say. I think that we might of been able to get it done a little bit cheaper, but for $200 to get water flowing back into the house for us it was a good deal because it was quick.

The visit went just fine, but the problem was not something this plumbing company deals with because it was outside in the lateral lines. He did diagnose the problem though and told me how to get it fixed in laymens terms. So even though they were not able to fix it themselves, they told me what work to have done by someone else. I was not charged for the visit.

After waiting around all day for one of their competitors, I located this company in the yellow pages. They said they'd have someone out within the hour and they did. When the young man arrived, he was very professional and immediately assessed the situation and rendered a diagnosis. Since he didn't carry the particular part on his truck, he had to drive to the nearest home improvement store to obtain one. It was late evening and dark upon his return. He said that the alternative would be to wait until Monday (this was Saturday). He replaced the tank ball quickly and efficiently. He cleaned up thoroughly and explained the job and the warranty on the work. All in all, I was very satisfied with the service.

I called them to come and fix it, and they said they didn't know what was wrong with it. They came back again and fixed it. It took them 10 minutes to fix and they charged $480.

We contacted Roto Rooter on a Friday night to have them come out on Saturday to clean out clogged toilet. The plumbers were prompt and courteous and did the job right. They made a recommendation on keeping the lines clean with a bio chemical solution. We would use this company in the future should the need arise.

A water leak occurred on Sunday early morning, a technician came to repair. He cut the sheetrock and identified the leaking pipe, but said he's not able to reach it and not comfortable tearing out exterior wall. It took about 15 minutes to cut and identify the problem, charged full hourly fee of 200 dollars. I used a coupon from Angie's List , which he was not aware of, it came down to 170 dollars. Technician also used unprofessional language. We had to turn off the valve and find someone else to fix it.

Jeff said they could have someone out and that it would be a free estimate based on my zip code. About 40 minutes later I got a call from a different person who said "the clock starts ticking when we head out there, so it will be $235 when we arrive." I asked about what Jeff had said, and the man said that no, it would cost $235 and would not elaborate. I decided against using them. I am very disappointed because I chose them based on their positive grades on Angie's List. It is very discouraging to get good customer service from Jeff and then receive the treatment I did from the second person. An hour and half of my day was wasted.
