I called this company on Saturday Jan. 5, 2013 in hopes they would check out my toilet in a day or two. to my surprise they said someone would be there within 2 hours. That 10:00am at 3:00pm I got a call from them, they were running behind but someone would be there shortly. At 6:00pm they called again still running behind but someone could come tomorrow (Sunday). I told them Sunday was not good but how about Monday, they put me on the schedule for Monday between 8:00 and 10:00am. At 9:30 on Monday I received a call from them still running behind it will be around 11:00am. At 1:00pm they called again still running behind allow another hour. At 3:00pm they called again still running behind, at this point I cancelled the appt and called someone else who kept the appt and did the work.

The men arrived, evaluated the situation, and started work while I stayed inside with a big dog. They reported to me after completing the work.
Description of Work: The men ran their machine and chopped up roots and flushed them down the line and left foaming powder for me to apply at the end of the day that was supposed to poison the roots.

My 2 year old flushed Mr. Potatohead's hat down our toilet. After a couple more flushes, the toilet stopped working. I called RotoRooter because I thought they had the tools to grind it to dust in the pipes. Surprise! The toy got stuck in the toilet itself and since it is porcelain it couldn't get pushed through. So, we had to go buy a whole new toilet. But, the plumber did the whole job (not including the toilet, which we chose to go out and buy ourselves so we could avoid the 2X markup and pick it out) for the same price as clearing the clog, which was $350- less after an Angies list coupon. This price still stung quite a bit because last time I had a drain clog cleaned by another company it only cost $75. So, our two year old is now looking for part time employment so he can pay off his debts. He is very talented especially when throwing tantrums.

There was a simple clog in the kitchen drain that exceeded the reach of my cheap 25ft snake, so I called Roto Rotor for help, as I did one New Year's Eve 5 yrs ago. After we agreed on a price, Wil did a thorough job, going about 75 to 80 feet into the drain. The work is guaranteed for 6 months, that the drain will not clog again during that time
Description of Work: Cleared a clogged drain that the the kitchen sink is connected to.

I wanted 2 faucets installed and the tub faucet faceplates removed. I was given a price of $300.............so I only got the faceplates removed for $100. This took maybe 5 minutes and I felt it was a rip-off. I installed the faucets myself in 40 minutes which this rip off company wanted $200 for. Update: Oct 25, 2012.........The $100 has been refunded to me and I am satisfied with the overall experience with this company.

I dug out and exposed a coupler which was leaking. I got one quote for $617 but the average quote out of 8 was about $300. J.R. saw what a simple job it was since I had done the grunt work and quoted me $150. I had texted and e-mailed or described in detail to the other companies what the problem was but these others, I believe subscribe to the "gotcha over a barrel" theory when it comes to leaks. J.R. completed the job quickly and even used a metal coupler instead of pvc.

Overall, it went well. My only criticism was the cost. Roto Rooter service is as good but expensive. They are like a Mercedes Benz of plumbing with Mercedes Benz prices. As far as i know, the high fees are the company standard fees.
Description of Work: We had a sewer back up in an older Windcrest home. We called Roto Rooter because it is a name well known to us. They pulled the toilet bowl and diagnosed a broken pvc pipe near main sewer line. ($500). We agreed to have this section replaced with a yard vent installed for future cleaning. They did this the following Monday, installing a new double vent system in the yard for easier cleaning in the future, as well as replacing about 8 feet of pvc line. Job was done efficiently and professionally in about 8 hours with two men. I will break down the cost and compare later since I called another company to finish the job.

Because I saw on Angie's List that Roto Rooter did not charge extra for nights and weekends, I called and asked for an estimate of what it would take to unstop a toilet upstairs. I explained that the stoppage was not too far down since the toilet in the bathroom behind the stopped up toilet flushed fine, but was told they could not provide an estimate over the phone although they would provide one for free after they saw the situation. They gave me a two-hour window and came exactly at the end of that window. (About a half hour into that window, they called my home phone and left a message for me to call them, but did not call my cell phone which I had also given them in case I was in the yard, which I was. I returned the call within 10 minutes and was told the the technician would be by in about 30 minutes, which turned out to be wrong.) Zeke was very thorough and explained he could use a 3 foot or 6 foot auger from the upstairs bathroom, which, at $161, would be much less expensive than the alternative. I explained I had an Angie's List coupon for $40 off, and he did the work. He used booties and gloves, worked quickly and efficiently, and stayed to be sure the clog would not return after the toilet was cleaned, which was good because he wrote "no warranty" on the bill. He also showed me how to prevent an over-flow if the toilet ever backed up again, which was a thoughtful extra I greatly appreciated. It took some time to pay him because he was using a new Android tablet all Roto Rooter techs had just been issued and had some problems with it, but he was finally able to get the proper code and take a credit card for payment. I received a carbon copy of the hand-written invoice.

Kitchen drain clogged. Tried "over-the-counter" drain cleaner; didn't work. Gilbert (our tech) came out within two hours of initial call. Price estimate was quoted over the phone and we used Angie's List coupon. Drain augered out from kitchen drain out about 40 feet. Cleaned p trap, checked for leaks in drain prior to and after work. Cleaned up after work. Would use again.

I requested a quote over the phone, as I had sufficient details for them. The rep refused to give me any price over the phone. They would view the work site and prepare a quote while onsite. As I drove up to meet them after work, I noticed that the water heater had gone from a small leak to a spewing rupture, flooding my garage. He quoted over $1400. When I told him I had a much lower quote over the phone, he went back to his truck for 5-10 minutes at came back with a price of $1100. I asked for details, and he said that I needed a gas drip line, which as it turns out is not required on residential properties. I rated the professionalism as F because of this unethical behavior. I sent him away.

As they say it always happens on a weekend or a holiday. My son came home and noticed water dripping from the kitchen ceiling, a problem we've had in the past and 'repaired' several times. I called our home warranty company and since it was an "emergency" due to secondary damage taking place they would dispatch a plumber. We waited an hour, called them back and they said we had to wait another hour as they were trying to find a plumber. By now we have buckets everywhere and had to turn off the main water supply coming into the house, 6 people, several pets, no water equals a bad evening. We waited another hour still no luck. I got on Angie's list, saw the reviews for Roto Rotter and called them. They said they would have someone at the house within an hour. Tim Crockett showed up promptly, looked at the situation, provided an estimate and went straight to work. He did a wonderful job, cleaned up and the estimate was right on target (even less with the coupon). After looking at the pipe and the previous repairs he explained that section of the pipe wasn't repaired properly in the past (guess why it was leaking again) and he replaced the entire section and gave us a warranty. Even though we are not plumbers the workmanship was even obvious to us that this was a much better job than what we received in the past. We we very pleased with the entire experience!

Toilets were slow and finicky so I finally phoned to work in my time. Turns out they can accommodate any time and someone could be here within the hour. Wil arrived from RotoRooter and analyzed the situation. He cleared out the flush line but also recommended a newer series of toilets. It was time, so we then selected toilets, collected them and installed them. The old installation was improper and required new flanges so Wil did what he was licensed to do and called forward to get someone who could finish the flange work. He arrived quickly and proceeded with the installation of the flanges, then the toilets. The work was done. Finished. These guys were punctual, professional and extremely polite. For the first time in months my toilets flush with every depression!

Horrible water in the yard - sprinkler system gone amok? ... probably. But there was one bit coming from the what looked like the wall of the house. Could it have been a bad in-house plumbing leak? The possibilities were horrifying. 5PM on a Sunday afternoon, I called Roto-Rooter, which I chose from the reviews on Angie's List, figuring I'd beg them to please come out tomorrow, don't put me off till later in the week. "We can be there at 7:30 or before". Yippee - I'll just get up early and be ready for them, right? NO - they meant 7:30 tonight!! I asked how much extra it would be for the "Sunday call" - "nothing it's the same price as during the week..". Wow. They come out, we walk around the yard. He says it will be $150 for the service call and diagnosis, I say, "That's fine". He comes in and shuts off all the flowing water in the house, then locates the primary and secondary valve systems from the street. He pointed out there was a lot of water flowing through the meter there, which stopped completely when he turned off the flow to the sprinkler system. He charged me just $102, "I thought it would take a lot more digging, that's why I estimated $150". THAT is integrity, if he hadn't said something, I would never have thought twice about paying the "full" $150. And THEN he said, "I could charge you a lot for a lot of digging up your yard and looking at pipes, but really the sprinkler guys have that expertise more than we do ... you'll get better value if you call them". I really can't believe it, THAT is integrity. He was professional from the get-go, had protective booties when he came in the house, polite (Roberto Rodriguez).
Description of Work: Inspected for leaky toilets. Inspected the yard, where puddles of water had accumulated. Got in under the bushes and inspected the walls of the house. Dug the sod off and exposed the primary and the secondary valves from the street. Noted a high flow rate of water with no water flowing in the house. Turned off the flow to the sprinkler system, and noted the water flow stopped.

On Thursday, March 1, we agreed that the team would come early on Saturday to get the work done. I called the company at 11 am when no one had arrived. The company was closed but the worker from Thursday had given me his cell number. I called him and he returned my call. He apologized for not calling sooner to tell me that the back hoe was having maintenance work done and they would arrive after it became available. I believe that it was around noon before they arrived and the work was started. I was told that it would take 2-3 hours. They didn't finish until 9:30 pm but the problem was the roots from the tree in my yard. I was disappointed with the lateness for a couple of reasons. I was without water and bathroom facilities the entire time. Also, because it was after dark, I believe that my yard was left poorly. I knew it was going to be bad because of the amount of digging that had to be done, but I think if they had been able to see what they were doing, it would have been done a little better. Overall, I wasn't upset with the company or workers as I was fully aware of what was taking place except for the total lack of water. I didn't think about the water being shut off and I wasn't informed in advance. Under the circumstances, I believe the guys probably did the best job that they could do.
Description of Work: Had the sewer line from the house to the city connection replaced. Noticed a backup problem in the sewer line and called Roto Rooter. They came out 2 days later at my schedule request. Examined line and showed me a crack and a collapsed pipe. We scheduled a time for them to come on Saturday, March 3, to replace the pipe. Had to pay $259 for the original service call, to include the diagnotics. Then had to pay $4200 for the pipe replacement.

I called with non-emergent issues thinking I would get an appointment later this week or next week. In one hour I had a plumber at my doorstep. I showed him the two issues. He took apart a section of the kitchen faucet and fixed it immediately. He showed me how to fix it in the future and did not charge me for this issue! The toilet needed a new system inside. He had all the parts in the truck and, in less than an hour from arrival, he was on his way. I would recommend this company in the future.
Description of Work: The kitchen sink had low pressure. The guest toilet did not flush properly. Sometimes the handle had to be held down or take several flushes to get enough water to completely empty the bowl.

My old disposal quit working. I purchased a new disposal from Loews and started removing the old disposal. The are under hte sink is tight, and I am not as young as I used to be. I couldn't removed the unit, so I joined angie's list and obtained a referral. They were very prompt and timely (a good part of hte price). The plumber took about 10 minutes to get the disposal out (I had tried for over 2 hrs), and it took him about 30 minutes to get the electrical disconnected (I had already turned hte power off at hte panel), and then he realized that he didnot have small wire nuts. I had to go and get the wire nuts. Thirty minutes later the disposal is working.
Description of Work: I was installing a replacement disposal and could not get the old one out. They came and removed hte old disposal, disconnected the electric for it (I hadn't been able to do it), and reconnected the new one. However, the serviceman did not have all of hte wire nuts required and I had to go get the wire nuts.

I placed a call to Roto-Rooter, and a technician arrived about 45 minutes later. He replaced water line to one commode, as requested. I then decided to have him replaced water line to second commode, and to replaced water hoses to washer. The technician was most courteous and efficient. He was in my home for a couple hourss. I would for sure have Roto-Rooter come again. It was a good experience.

Sewer line clogged on a Sunday (of course). Called several companies and could not get several that claimed weekend service to even answer phone. Called Roto Rooter as I knew they would be available. A very good thing about Roto Rooter is that they seem to be available 24/7. They sent two guys out within a couple of hours. They gave me an estimate that I thought was high but when you have a clogged main, there are not a lot of options unless to plan on moving out of the house. The job took about 15 minutes. They did the job, no complaint at the time except the price. This submission is an update of my original rating. In fairness I must point out that my original submission listed the incorrect price for the job. It was in the $300 price range, not $800. As a result of my less than wonderful Angie's rating, a company representative called me. I discovered that the drain cleaner product that was "given" to me by the technician as part of the price for the service (i.e. not an optional product) was not included as part of the charge but was a separate charge of $50, and I did not receive the 10% seniors discount. Part of the price was also a scope examination of sewer line. It was not performed because the technician did not have the equipment. I explained to the company rep that I had not and would not knowingly have purchased the drain cleaner as I have no drain issues, the problem was tree roots in the sewer line. Additionally, the scope job was not performed as i did not receive a call back from the technician that I called the following week to schedule the service. I had left a voice mail message. Frankly, I had pretty much forgotten about the scope until I spoke with the company representative. The company rep sent me a refund for the drain cleaner and the 10% senior discount, and arranged for the scoping within days of our conversation. However, I am rating the professionalism of my experience as a D because of the actions of the technician in sneaking in the $50 charge for the drain product. I received a refund because I complained on Angie's list. How many other customers have made this purchase without their knowledge? Have no idea but thank you Roto-rooter front office for being responsive. Hiss and boo to the technician.
Description of Work: Of course everything happens on a weekend. Did not know who to call so I used the tried and true, Roto Rooter. They came out when they said and did the job of unclogging the sewer line that was caused by tree roots.
