Description of Work: Fantastic, honest, personal jewelers. Luis was amazing to work with! Not once did he made me feel unconfortable or intimidated but not knowing what to do with my broken setting, unlike other retailers around town. I broke my wedding setting which contributed to a missing diamond and scratched sapphire. I knew it was going to be a lot of work & money; therefore I needed to find the right jeweler for the job. Because of my profession, I am very ruff on my rings. I broke the setting all the way through, so it could not simply be sauntered back together. So he reconstructed & poured a setting, similar to the old platinum one. It was made with white gold, which can take a better beating. Luis found & matched a trillion diamond & had my sapphire re-surfaced to remove the scratches & chips. The new setting also allowed more light into the setting to show off the beautiful periwinkle coloring of my sapphire-which was a plus! The work was so well done that I had Luis design a new wedding band for the ring. It complemented the setting perfectly. I will be back in to have the ring cleaned & to plan the second band for the ring to complete the set! I will never go to another jeweler again! Even if you walk in and don't see anything you might like-they do amazing custom work tailored to your vision. Please consider this your final search for a jeweler! I can not say enough great things about this place!! I drive all the way from downtown SA to have work done & have met people who drove from New Braunfels to have custom work done also. Plus I found this place on Angie's List....and know why he is an A+ rated jeweler!!! Thank you Luis!

+ -1 moreWe went here because of Angie's List ratings. We mentioned we had chosen them because we had seen the reviews on Angie's list even though the location was not close to home. I had a two pieces of old jewelry needing repair: one necklace to restring and one to reassemble. The staff went over options and we made our selection. The repairs were to be ready in one week. We went back (on 5/27) and they weren't ready. We were told that the "goldsmith" was out that week. We were then told, the items would be ready on 6/7. We went to the store on 6/7 and they items were still not ready. Excuses and apologies followed. The employee offered to reassemble one of the necklaces back together again and said it would take 10 minutes. We declined and took our jewelry and left. The excuses that they made didn't hold water and the apologies didn't repair our items.

+ 0 moreI live in Stone Oak, but drove all the way to Bandera Road to use Rialto Jewelry because of the positive reviews I had read on Angie's List. I was not disappointed!! Luis and his staff did a marvelous job re-sizing my rings and ensuring that they fit properly. The process they used to restore my antique ring's luster made a huge difference. I needed the rings and the appraisal back in a very short time, and Luis ensured that everything was completed by the deadline. In addition to performing this work, Luis and his staff repaired two broken earrings and a broken necklace at no charge. I was impressed! The staff was very helpful and friendly, and I thought the prices were quite reasonable. While in the store, I was able to peruse the jewelry cases and was struck by the beauty of their custom work on engagement and wedding rings. If I ever need anything custom-designed, I will make sure to return to Rialto Jewelry!
Description of Work: Rialto jewelry re-sized an antique platinum ring and used a process to restore its luster and shine. In addition, it re-sized a gold ring, which required additional 18K gold to enlarge it. Also, the jeweler completed an appraisal on the antique ring.

After having the diamond replaced by our insurance company,we sought out jewelers around the city to completely re-manufacture the setting. After some absolutely HORRIBLE experiences (one jeweler actually pulled all of the stones out of the setting during the estimate process - without an okay to do the work!!) and over a year of looking for a reliable jeweler, we came upon Rialto after reading other reviews on Angie's List. Rialto, and Luis in particular, have been fantastic. We wanted the ring to look as close as possible to the original ring. Rialto never once tried to change our minds - they listened to what we wanted and delivered an almost exact replica of my original engagement ring, only sturdier. Rialto was very communicative and responsive, and we could not be more pleased with the result!
Description of Work: Complete remanufacture of my engagement ring setting. We wanted the exact same look as the original ring, but made sturdier to prevent a diamond falling out, as the original did.

+ 0 moreMy wife had a diamond anniversary ring with a cracked 1.5 carat center diamond (yes that's possible) and intended to file an insurance claim to get it replaced. We used Angies List to pick Rialto. Luis first worked with us in providing appraisal and other information to support the insurance claim. He then guided us in finding the right diamond to replace the cracked one. In the process, he educated us on diamonds, not only the conventional color and quality, but cut and other features, such as "hearts and arrows", as well. Other, larger jewelers may have more diamonds, but Luis has easy access to multiple diamond distributors and can find the right diamond for you in a few days. Within a week, we looked at five high quality diamonds, and, using Luis's guidance and knowledge, my wife picked the one she wanted. Luis took care of the rest, including sending the cracked diamond back to our insurance company. In the process, my wife had found a second diamond she liked almost as much as the one she picked. I was so pleased with Luis that I decided to have him make a pendant using that diamond for my wife's Christmas present. In the 40+ years my wife and I have been married, we have brought tens of thousands of dollars in jewelery. We've purchased jewelry from Dallas to New York, from small jewelers and large. We've never has as positive an experience as we did with Luis. I would encourage anyone who has jewelry needs, either simple repair or relatively large purchase, to visit Rialto before making a decision. Seldom do you find a jeweler, such as Luis, who is both knowledgable and trustworthy.
Description of Work: The best jeweler we've used in 40 years - We drove 33 miles to Rialto but would readily drive twice that. Luis is that good.

The cost of the replacement diamond turned out to be less than what I was quoted and they adjusted the price (I would have had no way of knowing this, so I applaud their honesty). They will be my first choice for any future work.

+ -1 moreI thought I had lost a stone from my ring. Luis took the ring in the back and came out a few minutes later to tell me my ring was fixed and there was no charge! Apparently there was debris covering a stone that he just cleaned off. I am sure there are other jewelers out there that would have made up a repair or charged for cleaning. If you are looking for a great, honest jeweler, come here. While there, I also purchased a beautiful onyx bracelet. His store is full of beautiful jewelry and he can custom make whatever you desire. He showed me some pieces that were fabulous. I plan to go back and highly recommend him to anyone who needs a jeweler.

After 9 years of marriage, my wedding bands had taken a beating. They needed to be resized, they were scratched up, and I wanted them unsoldered. Everyone working there was so nice and helpful; they listened to everything I wanted done, made sure I knew all my options, and went out of their way to make sure I'd be happy with the result. I picked up my rings today, and they are beautiful... they look as good as they did on my wedding day (maybe even better), and you would never know they'd ever been soldered together. I will only use Rialto Jewelry from now on, and I plan on returning soon to have a necklace cleaned and my watches repaired. You should try Rialto Jewelry- you won't be disappointed!

+ -1 moreI took an antique Topaz ring that had been my mother's into Rialto Jewelry to see if they could clean it up, replace the side diamonds with others that I had, and resize it. At the time, I didn't know if it was worth cleaning and upgrading. The price that was quoted was very reasonable, plus I was given credit for some unwanted gold. Since the ring had great sentimental value, I went for it. The result was stunning. The ring is gorgeous and I have received compliments every time I wear it. I have another antique ring that needs some work, and I will definitely take it to Rialto. The work exceeded my expectations! I also found out that they are very honest in telling you what they can't do. I wanted to get a Tanzanite ring appraised, but the owner said his specialty is diamonds, not colored gemstones. He did not feel qualified to appraise the ring, but he gave me the names of two places where I could get the ring appraised.
Description of Work: Rialto cleaned, repaired and resized an antique Topaz ring, replacing side diamonds with some I brought. Beautiful work!

When I wanted something extra done to one pair of earrings, they worked with me until I was totally happy, at no additional cost to me. I also trusted them implicitly with the diamonds I brought in for them to incorporate into my new earrings.
Description of Work: I actually employed Luis Guerra, owner of Rialto Jewelry, on two different occasions. He used diamonds from pieces of jewelry I already had, along with a few diamonds I purchased through him, and made two different sets of earrings.

Description of Work: About a year ago a friend told me about Luis at Rialto as I needed a jeweler that I felt I could trust. I had been given some of my Mother's jewelry and didn't want to take it just anywhere. From the minute I met him I knew I could trust him and he would take care of me. I have had anything from appraisals, rhodium plating my ring and most recently took two very rare and special charm bracelets from the 30's and made four beautiful bracelets for my four granddaughters. He will answer questions, give advice and it is always done with professionalism and a smile. I would trust him with anything big or small. I have seen a couple of pieces that he has made from scratch and he does such an exquisite job. His rates are so reasonable and you will meet a new friend.

Description of Work: I needed a new watch. I have had Seikos for many years. My current Seiko was failing. Luis, owner of Rialto gave me a loaner. while we tried to repair my existing watch. It was beyong repair, so I purchased a new Seiko from Rialto. Very pleased! During the Christmas Holidays, I was looking for something special for my wife. Luis, owner of Rialto showed me a beautiful Tanzanite ring surrounded by diamonds. I purchased this as a Christmas present. Previously, Luis and his staff created a beautiful necklace [from my memory thirty years prior], of a tree, with yellow and white gold overlays. Previous to that we had purchased Seiko watches and had numerous watches of my wifes repaired, new batterries, etc. No matter how small the job [changing watch batterries], fixing jewelry clasps, replacing necklaces, and those larger more expensive creations - designing from scratch a piece of jewelry; purchasing a new Seiko watch, or a gem stone ring with diamonds - Rialto can handle all of this. They can also provide 'appraisal' services for insurance purposes. My wife and I are not major jewelry purchasers [but probably have spent about $3000.00 over the past couple of years with Rialto]; but we are always treated with respect, our questions are answered, and we receive quality and professional service, directly from the owner and his staff..
