after 25 years the OEM AC unit went out, Main unit (5 Ton) of a two unit system. Cost to repair was not economical. Schmidt Mech came out and replaced both AC and Heating units. The crew that installed the units worked tirelessly (9 to 8PM) two days to get both units up and running. They were professional and friendly. Cost was high, but not relative to the type of units replaced (7.5 tons AC total, 2 furnaces, new updraft vent, larger run of ducting to one room, touchpad wireless access thermostats.

Angie's $49 coupon was only good for one AC system. The second system cost $89 which was too much for the small amount of extra work to look at the second system. No refrigerant was added. The second system showed a capacitor reading of 40.5 mfd but was rated at 45.5 mfd. Schmidt Mechanical Group (SMG) recommended replacing the capacitor ( I think they called it a controller) for $220 but would not give me a breakdown for parts and labor after being asked to do so. Air loss was detected at two duct connections, but SMG would not give me an estimate to just seal those two ducts after I asked them what it would cost. However, they did give me an estimate for sealing the ducts plus installing an overflow shutoff switch (which I did not want) for a total of $536.94, but would not say how much was for material and how much was for labor. I requested cost details twice by email and once by phone with negative results. Without information regarding specific cost details, I declined the additional maintenance. I have never had a contractor refuse to tell me how much something specific would cost. So, overall, I think they failed to be responsive to me.

The service went extremely well. We were worried our unit stopped working, but the service technician explained what could have been the issue and wanted to test and troubleshoot the unit before coming to a conclusion on what the issue would be. After troubleshooting, he determined the capacitor on the outside unit was dying and the motor was cutting out. He came back Friday, replaced both parts and the house instantly started to cool down again! We were worried it was going to be a very costly repair, but they helped us ensure the right parts were replaced and saved us money in the long run. We will definitely be calling Schmidt again in the future for our AC/heating unit!

In my two years of doing business with them, I have never had a single problem working with Schmidt Mechanical Group . Every time I have had an issue that is covered by warranty the work is immediately taken care of much faster than with other services I have used. They are on point. They manage their materials and their people in an unparalleled way.

It was not good. He did the work but he didn't analyze the problem correctly. His analysis would have been very expensive. They came that same day.

OUTSTANDING! OLD A/C WAS SAVE ABLE BUT AT A PRICE NOT WORTH THE RRECLAMATION. sent out a rep the next day to see about a replacement. the sales rep was AWESOME! HE WENT THRU THE HOUSE AND CHECKED FOR LEAKS AND SUCH AND MADE RECOMENDATIONS. HE WAS SUPER INFORMATIVE WITH OUT BEING PUSHY. we looked over the 4 options he gave us and went with a trane 2.5 ton to replace the old goodman 3 ton. crew showed up the next day and while my wife and I wwere at work, transformed our 80 degree house to a 72 degree house. the new unit holds the temp without running all day and night. one of my biggest complaints was that there was hardly any air getting to the kitchen which is farthest away from the unit. they suggested and added a second grill to allow more air to the unit. my word what a brilliant move. they hid the new intake behind a dresser in the spare bedroom. now when I go to make coffee the a/c blows the filter off the counter. everyone involved from the first tec to the office staff was top notch. they may be a little pricy to some you definatly get what you pay for. these guys were fantastic

Technician showed up early, my son let him in and he was done by the time I got home. Then he sat in the van for 30mins, I forgot he was even there then he just walked in the front door wanting me to sign he's iPad. Still haven't received a receipt either.

Work went great, showed up when promised, technician was polite and got right to work. George was the tech that did the service!! Will call for future service!

Very well. I have two older units and I am just trying to keep them in place as long as possible before I am forced to replace them. I liked that the service technician understood that and did not try to convince me I needed a new unit immediately. I got a special from Angies list on the a/c service, but I knew the cost of Freon, if needed, would be extra. I was pretty sure I would need Freon. That's why the price the overall price might seem high for service, but based on the amount of Freon needed, it was a good value for me.

Technician arrived on time, did a thorough inspection of our unit and stated that our airflow was very good. He did recommend the replacement of capacitor to which we agreed. We were pleased with the service provided!

Our AC unit appeared to be low on freon because the temp drop across the AC system was only 8?. George from Schmidt Mechanical Group came over to our house on time to diagnose the problem. He did what appeared to be a thorough inspection of the AC unit outdoor and indoor and concluded that our freon was indeed low. He also educated me on AC unit maintenance and answered all my questions. George ended up pumping in 2.5 lbs of freon. After a coupon, it seemed like the price for all the service was unbeatable. I was very happy. I definitely recommend Schmidt Mechanical group because they were on time, appeared to be very knowledgeable and honest, friendly, professional, and well priced.

Everything was great. I got an appointment the same week I called. The company called about 45 minutes ahead of time to let me know the technician was on the way. They gave me an arrival window of noon to 3pm, and the technician arrived just after noon. He explained everything he was doing and left a detailed report. There was no pressure to buy additional services.

We're having a bit of work done on our house - Schmidt's crew was by far the best of any of our contractors. Polite, punctual and considerate of our belongings. The crew worked tirelessly and when the job turned out to be more complicated than expected worked all weekend to finish on schedule. Other providers were ~10% less but quality and customer service are worth the modest premium in my book.

Everyone in the organization is very professional from owner to sales person to the installer. All are knowledgeable and friendly w/loads of experience. We are very pleased w/Schmidt Mechanical Group and would highly recommend them.

The work was professionally done, I'm very pleased with the outcome. The only issue I had, was with scheduling; the dates and times kept changing. Also, the technician couldn't perform the the job; and installer had to be scheduled to do it.

They sent someone to do a check and perform the work. They wanted to charge me $200 to unclog it, which I thought was outrageous. I just paid for the service call and bought a shop vacuum, after which I did the work myself. The price was okay for the maintenance but not for the service that they came to perform. The worker was alright. My experience with them could have been made better if they had given me a reasonable price.

From the moment I contacted Schmidt Mechanical Group, Inc., I was impressed! Scheduler Lori made an appointment for Estimater Jared to access our A/C needs and later scheduled the work. She did a great job of rescheduling my original appointment pronto for the project for that same afternoon when a short-notice issue caused the need to change dates. Jared told us we didn't need a new A/C unit to address our complaint about noise and instead recommended we install a second return air grill as the one we had was too small for the area needed, making the A/C motor work harder. He also advised us to add a float switch, duct board, and a door jamb to the A/C closet door to reduce noise and to bring our unit up to code. After getting other bids, we opted to have this company do the work. Juan and Gabriel arrived promptly, despite the short notice change (just a few hours after I asked Lori to change my original appointment) and went to work to install a second return grill, float switch, duct board, and door jamb on the A/C closet door. They were quick to finish the project, yet Juan took the time to explain what he was doing and why. Juan even went so far as to pour some white vinegar I had and warm water into the line to ensure there was no blockage and advised me to do this monthly as a preventive measure. They both completely cleaned up the work site as well. Due to Lori's scheduling that got quick results, Jared's advice which saved me a whole lot of money, and Juan's and Gabriel's quick, efficient work, my husband and I are enjoying a quieter A/C unit that's up to code without having to spend the amount of money we feared we'd need to spend to fix the problem. I will definitely call on Schmidt Mechanical Group, Inc. for any of my future A/C or heating needs and would highly recommend them to others as well!

Our upstairs A/C unit quit working Fri. evening, causing us to sleep downstairs but the unit started working again the next day. So, my husband and I thought the problem corrected itself. Wrong! The A/C unit quit working again around 4 pm. Sat. afternoon so we called Schmidt Mechanical Group, Inc. since through Angies' List we learned they were available 24/7. We were told "George" would be at our house later that evening. George was courteous, professional, and knowledgeable and went to work quickly to identify the cause of the malfunction. He determined that the culprit was our capacitor that although low, was still operable. Based on his advice, we decided to have him replace it at that time instead of hoping it'd work and having it malfunction again during the hot summer. My husband and I appreciated the fact that the company kept such parts on the truck so George was able to quickly replace the component. He also checked the contacts and saw that some June bug had gotten caught between the contacts. He told us how to clean the compressor unit and what to avoid getting wet but also gave us the option to sign up for the company's preventive maintenance plan which we plan to do. We are so relieved we called on Schmidt Mech. Group, Inc. and that George was able to fix our unit so quickly, despite the late hour on a weekend!

Raymond was very informative and did the job as I expected. He did alert us that our capacitor will need to be replaced soon, but he wasn't pushy. He told us ways we could save on services next time. He was a very honest and I will use this company again.
