Overall, this repairman is very knowledgeable and very experienced. He had one helper that was alert and focused on the needs of his boss, which was a pleasant surprise so the job went quickly and these guys did not waste anytime. They checked water supply and explained the problem to me so I could understand. The repairmen showed me the clog in the existing hose and replaced the hose with a higher quality hose that will not clog. I got the bill and Angie's List discount immediately, and I happily wrote them a check.
Description of Work: My hose to the washer was clogged and not enough water was entering the appliance to run the cycles to completely wash clothes. The hose was replaced and all is well. The repairman instantly recognized the low flow and had the hose replacement on the truck.

George was very punctual for the initial diagnoses and estimate. Unfortunately, the next day when I was supposed to have a morning appointment for the repair, I was not serviced until mid-afternoon with no contact from the company except when I called them. George indicated that he had asked the office to contact me as he had run into a problem with an earlier appointment. Unfortunately, they did not. Had I been contacted and explained that George was running late, they would have received all As. George did replace my hose to the ice maker at no additional charge.

I called to set up the appointment and told them exactly what part I needed and the make and model of my fridge. When they came they did not have the parts for my fridge, and we had to have them come out again with the exact parts I had told them we needed in the first place. This was a inconvenience and waste of my time. Not to mention more time that my water had to be turned off to my fridge. When he replaced my ice maker I had two models to choose from. He told me that if I was unhappy with my selection he would replace it with the other model, but to let him know with in 3 weeks so he could resale the part as new before it developed any lime spots. This was a red flag to me. If he would resale this part as new to someone else, what kind of quality was I getting?

Description of Work: Our old front-loading washer quit pumping out before the spin cycle. George came and instead of sticking me with a new pump, he spent about half an hour cleaning out the gunk that had built up and was keeping the pump from working. Then, he told me what to do to avoid a recurrence of the problem, and sold me a solution to use every month. He also told me where I could buy more.

We found My Repairman on Angie's List. This was the first time we've called them. They came as quickly as they could, and as an added courtesy they phoned ahead to let us know they were on their way. George and Xavier were very knowledgeable and efficient in finding and diagnosing the problem. The control board on our A/C system had been shorted out from a few drops of water that got in from somewhere, and the emergency heat had overtaken the system overnight. We had awakened to an 85-degree house. George told us the emergency heat would have burned the house down, and disabled it for us until he could get a new control board which by itself was quite a feat. Our A/C system is only 3 years old but the company had been sold and the manufacturer had changed, so George had his work cut out for him trying to find out where he could get the elusive part. Meanwhile, Xavier was working on our washer. It needed a pump. George offered his loaner until a new one could be purchased, which was about two days. Our dishwasher had been leaving a heavy film on what should have been clean dishes. George and Xavier found that it had not been installed correctly and sewage from the garbage disposal had been leaking into the dishwasher. He offered to clean and sanitize it; but the odor would remain in the plastic, so we replaced it. Upon returning a couple of days later with the control board for the A/C system and the pump for the washer, George and Xavier checked the installation of the new dishwasher to be sure the original problem would not recur. They made some minor changes at no charge to us. We will call Mr. Repairman any time we need something repaired. We could not be happier with their service!
Description of Work: #1. Diagnosed a problem with our dishwasher; found that sewage was leaking into the machine from the garbage disposal due to faulty installation. Also it had been leaving a film on what should have been clean dishes. He offered to clean and sanitize it, but since the filthy odor would remain in the plastic, we chose to buy a new machine. #2. Diagnosed a major problem with our A/C system, and probably saved our home from being burned to the ground. #3. Since bad things seem to come in 3's, our washer also decided to stop working. The pump broke and it wouldn't drain. George and Xavier replaced the pump.

I opted to have repair service done on my ceramic cook-top and my built-in stove; hoping to delay buying new ones. (Both came new with the house and are 10 years old). George and his helper from My Repairman showed up at the time specified (and even called 30 minutes ahead to let me know they were on their way!) and were very courteous and professional. He checked all the issues & problems I was having with my oven & cook-top. He calibrated the temperature changes on my oven. Since this took "down" time with nothing else they could do; he spent the time informing me about the care and cleaning of my cook-top ('cause it really was looking pretty awful!). He also gave his opinion on good, solid performance brands to consider in buying new ones. But, for now, just having these appliances serviced will get me through another holiday season.
Description of Work: Needed to have two of my kitchen appliances checked because of poor working order. He calibrated the oven to improve on its accuracy. He also checked the ceramic cook-top to see about the inadequate heat on one of the burners.

I noticed the refrigerator was not cooling properly on Sunday evening although the freezer compartment was functioning correctly. I called George on Monday morning for an appointment. He arrived right on schedule around noon time. He noted ice build-up in the air passage way between the freezer and refrigerator and suggested that possibly the door had been left partially open while we were out of town allowing entry of excess moisture which led to freezing of the airway. The ice was cleared and control reassembled but still only minimal air flow. He then checked the freezer defroster and noted ice buildup on the coils. He then suggested the defrost control card was not functioning properly. After defrosting the ice around the coils and replacing the control card the freezer and refrigerator are back to functioning correctly. George and his helper, Xavier were professional in their approach to business and explained what they were doing during their diagnostic work and repair.

We called 3 days ahead to make an appointment. On the appointment day they did not have us on record as even having an appointment, they said they would call us back and never did, they would not answer the phone, it went to a recording and when they did call back, they said could come the next day instead. They never offered an apology or reason for not having us in the computer. My husband took off a day of vacation and they didn't seem to care. A company like this should NEVER be on the top of your list in my opinion.
Description of Work: Did not show up for the scheduled appointment and were very slow to return calls when trying to locate the repairman. They should not be ranked this high if they fail to communicate and never show up for a scheduled appointment.

Description of Work: We actually used them twice. The first was for a dishwasher. The door wasn't closing properly. The problem was the connection to the counter. He fixed it for a minimum charge ($65) and also did some other minor repairs. The second call, 2 weeks later, was to repair an ice maker that was leaking. It had to be replaced. It continued to leak, requiring a second visit. He came out the next day and fixed everything. Total cost was $220, mostly for parts

After a very bad experience with another repair service. I was lucky to find MY Repairman, George, on Angie's List. He knew right away what was needed for the ice maker. He did not try to sell me a whole new ice maker but only the needed part. He showed me what was broken and told me what probably caused it to happen. The second refrigerator is a bit older and had some work done a few months ago. The computer board was replaced (at least that is what I was told). George showed me the old one and what the new should look like. He also put the parts back the way they are suppose to be. The other company had not done it right. For the price I now have both refrigerators running, it even included 2 new filters. I will call My Repairman again when needed.
Description of Work: 2 of my refrigerators needed repair. One was not allowing water into the ice maker. George replaced a part, I believe it was the motor in the ice maker. The second needed a new computer board and drain unclogged.

There was an odor coming from the cook top. He checked it out thoroughly and determined that the problem was within the appliance. I decided to discard the appliance. He flushed out the vent piping and capped the pipe securely. He and his assistant were friendly and helpful. This was a little out of their usual scope of work, but they got right to work and cleared up my unpleasant problem for me. They came within a couple of hours of my call.

We discovered our Whirlpool Refrigerator quit cooling on Saturday prior to Memorial Day. We became members of Angie's list Sunday and I called My Repairman that afternoon and left a message. He called about 8:30 a.m. Monday (Memorial Day) and said he would be by in about an hour. One hour later he showed up and as a result of his obvious experience was able to quickly diagnose the problem, explain it, and our choices to us completely to our satisfaction. He then repaired the refrigerator. All this was done within approximately 20 minutes. We also asked him to look at our washing machine that was not spinning on all cycles and he diagnosed that problem within 10 minutes but was unable to provide exact prices due to it being a holiday and not being able to price the part he had to purchase. We will be recontacting him for that estimate unless we decide to purchase a new washer. (We discussed the cost of that repair might compare to a new lost cost machine, even though he could not get an official price, (again a sign of his experience and knowledge and what we consider truthfulness). He did not charge us extra for this diagnosis. Both George and his co-worker were friendly and professional and we HIGHLY RECOMMEND them and will be using them again. WE WISH WE FOUND ANGIE'S LIST SOONER!

I made the appointment yesterday for this morning between 9 and noon. He called prior to coming and came with an assistant whom he was apparently training. He had to go get a complete plastic upper arm assembly because the pin that held it on was missing (I'd thrown it away since it had broken) and it comes as a complete set. He honored the Angie's List coupon and even absorbed the tax on the part because he'd forgotten to include it when he told me the price. I paid by check so he would not have to pay the bank fee if I paid by credit card. He's now on my list of service people to use.

Did have some initial confusion with the appointment. Do not really know how the snag happened. Called and got a Thursday scheduled, but nothing. Called to follow up and the was no note on their calendar. The voice was different, and I decided it was a legit mix up, and scheduled another time. The appointment was for Sat. AM, and it went as smooth as could be wanted. Repairman called to notify he was on his way, and proceed with ease. Honored their coupon.
Description of Work: Dishwasher had stopped working. After determining It was getting power, I called for help. The repairman had an idea what it was: the controlling circuit board has an internal fuse, and sure enough, that was it. Pretty simple really. Told us some options and ta da. Also added some hard water cleaner and ran the next couple of cycles.
