 + -1 moreRefrigerator side of Maytag Ref-Freezer became warmer over a week's time, then freezer did too. George & assistant came the same afternoon we called, analyzed & explained cause, cost & even had the replacement part which was required. Told us it was guaranteed 90 days, if we still had trouble there would be no service or replacement charge. He then proceeded to fix a loose part on my microwave/hood which he just noticed for free and even gave us a discount when I told him I'd located them via Angie's List! Very nice people and he left it cleaner than when he arrived!!
Description of Work: Replaced a sensor board in Maytag SXS refrigerator/freezer. Returned 3 days later for free when we reported it still wasn't functioning correctly and put in another new one.

 + -1 moreWe got back from vacation and our refrigerator was attempting to die on us. It was a bad scene; I had all this organic meat in the freezer and I had to throw out almost all of it. He was very nice and he was showing off his knowledge of refrigerators. He was a little wordy, but that didn't matter because he wasn't charging by the hour. He definitely worked on it quickly and told me what was wrong. He acted like he was cutting me a deal all the time and I kind of get tired of that. He acted like he was nervous dealing with people. I have no complaints and I would use them again. He took off my ice maker and I really appreciated that because I don't use an icemaker and that gave me more room in the freezer, so that was something extra he did without charging me. I thought the job was a little pricey, but my refrigerator is still working.
Description of Work: I used My Repairman in July to repair my refrigerator. The thermostat had gone out.

 + -1 moreHe has been here twice in the last year. Once was to fix my refrigerator that is at least 15 years old. I had someone tell me that it was not worth repairing and he fixed it for under $100. He also fixed my washing machine. He seemed very knowledgeable about appliances. He told me what he was going to do and what it was going to cost before he started the work. He didn't just walk in and do the job and give me a bill. He was very honest and gave me an estimate. He had the parts in his truck and was able to do the repairs. I did give him the information regarding the appliances before he came out. There were two guys that came to do the repairs and they were very good. I would use them again.

Description of Work: Called the number on the website on 3 different days and times. It must be a cell phone, because it goes straight to voicemail. I left my name and number all 3 times along with what I needed repaired, as instructed, but never got a return phone call. Very disappointing. I don't see how this company could recieve accolades from Angie's List when they can't return a simple phone call.

 + -1 moreMy wife accidently turned the refrigerator off when loading it with soft drinks yesterday. The service reps discovered this immediately and turned the unit back on. They also did some sort of check to insure the unit was working properly. They charged me $45.00 for the service call but I had printed out a coupon from their web site for $10.00 discount; so the cost to me was $35.00 ? pretty reasonable, I thought.

 + -1 moreThe job never got started, because of the poor attitude exhibited by the receptionist.
Description of Work: With the great ratings shown for My Repairman, I was really looking forward to contacting them for service on a refrigerator. What I experienced was a receptionist who was rude and gave the impression the company didn't want my business. I live less than a mile outside of Loop 1604, so the trip charge was going to be $55 instead of $45... and I didn't mind that. I still wanted the work done... and was willing to pay a fair charge. Then as I tried to arrange a time convenient both for me and for the repair company, there was little to no willingness on the part of this young woman to even look for possible windows of time. When I experience a company that doesn't care enough about their customer service to adequately train the front line representatives as well as the technicians doing the work, then I move on to someone else... as I have. I'm glad that others have a positive experience with this company, but my first impression was dismal. If someone would like to call me to discuss, I would be happy to speak to them.

 + -1 moreThese guys are great! They are prompt, polite, and efficient. They stay on schedule and arrive on time, because they know what they're doing when they get there. I will definitely call them for any appliance repairs in the future.
Description of Work: They successfully repaired my clothes washer, which was leaking. Then I thought to ask them if they repaired ovens as well. That repair was fairly routine (heating element). They got the part and were able to return the next day to fix the oven as well (each visit was about $160). They reminded me to use the coupon they offer on Angie's list, which was nice.

 + -1 morethe crew was punctual & polite...very professional & efficient they called several times to be sure they would not inconvenience me...when they arrived, they got straight to the fridge & assessed what needed to be done...one opened the back while the other went to get tools & supplies...they removed the items clogging the unit from functioning properly in short order, replaced parts & were off to another job!
Description of Work: refrigerator not cooling as it had been - crew removed the cover from the back of the fridge & removed the old insulation that was impeding the fan & the debris that was clogging the airflow...

 + -1 moreShowed up approx 4 hours after we called, at the time they said they would. Was professional. Thoroughly went through the differential diagnosis of our broken washing machine and kept us informed during the process. Told us the mother board was out and gave us an exact quote (after calling home office) within 20 minutes. After deciding the price was too much for our 7 yr old washing machine we bought a new one. But the tech definitely saved us money with honesty (he basically rec'd a new machine) and he honored our angie's list coupon so the whole 60-90 minute visit cost us $35.00

He surveyed the damage and gave a quote and explained thorougly (in layman's terms) what he would do. After I accepted his quote he got to work. 'My Repaiman' came in lower than our Home Warranty company...including the cost to repair. The dryer works!

 + -1 moreThe repairman's guess that the rollers had fallen apart were correct. (He showed them to me.) He replaced the rollers. He also checked the belt that they had installed a few months earlier. The belt they replaced had been a "guess", as to the size, because the machine is so old that the actual model number had worn off. I had been warned at the time that the belt might not work, however, it has been fine. The machine runs perfectly and so much quieter.Since the machine is so old, it probably won't last too much longer, but I have been able to use it happily for about twenty years.
Description of Work: My dryer was stopping after only a few minutes. It was also leaving black marks on white clothes.

 + -1 moreWhat impressed me most (besides the price, I've been charged way more by other companies for smaller repairs) was that when I called on a Saturday morning, the people at My Repairman went out of their way to make sure someone could be out that day, even though I said I'd be happy to wait until Monday if necessary. The technician was out within 2 hours. He quickly diagnosed the problem with the fridge (and even cleaned it up a little inside for me!) and had the part needed for it. He checked my oven, which wasn't heating properly, and showed me how to adjust it. He was helpful and very courteous. I would definitely use this company again, and recommend it to others.

 + -1 moreHowever, prior to a final decision from me, George wanted to check on the status of the motor. He ran the machine and was concerned about the loud noise generated by the spinning tub. Apparently, the washer should be "whisper quiet" while turned on. He concluded that the washer would have a limited life span even after the repair was done secondary to a rusted motor. He discussed with me the strategy of undergoing a $182.00 repair to a washer that had a limited life span as compared to purchasing a new washer for about $400-$500. We elected to defer the repair and purchase a new washer.
Description of Work: I noticed that our front-loading compact Kenmore washer was leaking water with its last run. I called their office, and the scheduler was willing to set up an appointment the next morning, which was a Saturday. I declined and scheduled an appointment the following week. George called prior to his arrival and confirmed his arrival time. He inspected the washer and concluded that the leak was from a damaged rubber boot sealer. He quoted a price for a replacement boot and the labor charge, which was $182.00 with Angie's discount. When I questioned the price of the boot, George even offered to scout out a cheaper source for the part to assist with my concerns.

I wanted an estimate to repiar my dishwasher all i wanted to know what there trip charge was to come out. They gave me 48 hours to decide if i wanted to use them, but i didn't want to be charged additional trip fees if i did decide to go with them. I wanted them to fax me the estimate but they keep hanging up on me, i feel like there should be some communication between us. They have been very rude to me

 + -1 moreThe serviceman came the same day we called the company and at the specified time. He diagnosed the problem quickly and went to get the needed parts. Unfortunately, he was given the wrong main control board and had to return it. He then had to order the correct one, which took several days to arrive and for him to return. He completed the job quickly, professionally, and pleasantly. I don't know how much of the delay to attribute to the supplier vs. My Repairman. I do think he should have been able to determine that he had been given the wrong part without having to bring it and then return it. Overall, I was pleased with the responsiveness of My Repairman, the quality of the work, and the estimate of what the job would cost. I was also given a $28.00 discount.
Description of Work: Checked and replaced main control board on clothes dryer. Replaced thermal fuse on clothes dryer.
