John Jones Electric

Today I find myself needing some electrical work, and come back to Angie's List to find the most wonderful electricians that I used about two months ago, only to find that I forgot to review them! So, before I even call them again, I want to review the last job they did. It was a minor job- a light switch which turned on my lights and fans in the kitchen stopped working. I didn't know that was what the problem was, but was relieved when the father-son duo came and put my fears to rest. Peggy, the wife and mom, answered the phone, was friendly and polite, and had the two out in no time. They were informative, super nice, and they made me feel at ease. They bring an honest and friendly work ethic with them that feels like the America I want to live in- like true values and the security of the neighbor next door, and it is backed up with the quality of their work and the price they charge. I will embark on a major electrical updating to my 60+ year old home soon, and if they can work me in, I am their customer. I trust this trio.

You will not find more professional electricians who go above and beyond. John Jones and family will respect you, your property, and your pets. They worked well with a difficult job, compounded by the oddities of an old house and difficult city inspectors. They also worked hard to find solutions when others gave up. They're knowledge and experience can't be beat.

No work was peformed. I called for an estimate, but they charged to much to just get an estimate.

This is an excellent company. They are very professional, extremely fair in their pricing and they have an excellent work product. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

This installation proved to be more complex than first thought as there was no access to the extended window ledge where the new outlets were needed due to the design of the house. A carpenter had to be called to remove extended window ledge for electrical access and then replace. The electrician provided a name and the man came out within the hour to do the removal so they could install the outlets. The carpenter then returned the next morning to reinstall the ledge.

They replaced 30+ year-old plugs in the study and the light switches as well. Checked to make certain the wiring to the room was in good condition. Always on time and always very neat in their work; never a mess left behind for me to clean after they leave. Will continue to look for things that they can improve on electrically for my home.

We have had problems with our recessed lighting for the longest time. Bulbs were constantly breaking within the socket. John Jones repaired our first light a few months ago and came out promptly to fix two other lights. But not only did they fix the problem, they provided me with information on better choices for light bulbs to prevent further problems!

We contacted the company via phone to find out their availability to provide a quote for a long list of electrical to-dos. They were very professional and responsive. When Mr Jones arrived, he covered his shoes before entering the house and each and every time he came in the house. Using the standard price book, he provided a quote for each item on our list. Tasks were selected from the quote and Mr. Jones immediately began working to complete them. HIs son arrived to assist with the long list. They were meticulous in their efforts. Each work area was put back the way it was found, was clean, and worked when they left at the end of the day. They were both refreshingly honest, polite, hard-working, dedicated professionals who I would gladly pay to do more work in my home. Without hesitation, I would recommend John Jones Electric, Inc.. Because we have not had an electrician do work at our home in many years, we did not rank the pricing but feel it was fair for the quality of the work that was completed.

Couldn't have gone better. Ms. Jones at the office charmed me from the outset, and although they were booked until Dec. 29, I decided I wanted to work with this company. They managed to squeeze me in before we left for Christmas, allowing me to breathe a sigh of relief that while I was away I wouldn't have to worry about what I feared was a short in a wall socket. The owner, John Jones, and his son, T.J., called and said they had time to help. They arrived half an hour later. T.J. started by showing me the flat rate book and said I would pay the price with the substantial discount for Angie's List customers. Working separately, they had both jobs done in less than an hour. Listening to father and son talk to each other and work together was a pleasure. When's the last time you heard respect and affection between father and son? These are the kind of people you'd be glad to see in your home socially. When they were done, everything worked as requested. John Jones ran a much larger firm for nearly two decades, much of the work residential. The two of them clearly know their way around circuits. This is the only company we'll turn to for electrical work.

Arrived on time. Discovered one of the replacement ballasts was defective and left for about 30 minutes to a obtain one that worked from supplier. Cleaned up all work areas. Was out the door about two hours after arrival. He explained what he was doing and answered all my questions. This was a pleasant experience.

Everything went very well. It took approximately 6 hours. Everything was cleaned up, so glad the box and wiring are fixed.

Electric current can be felt within inches from my in-ground swimming pool light. A pool company checked the light fixture and said the light fixture was not the source of the current and advised me to call an electrician to find out where the current was coming from. I called John Jones Electric and a very pleasant lady asked about the problem I was having then scheduled an appointment for the next day. The father and son team called me letting me know they were on their way to my house. They arrived on time as scheduled. They checked the wiring at the pool filter/sweeper motors, looked into the timer boxes and pool light power box. They spent a fair amount of time looking things over and explaining the problem to me then again to my husband who had come home after they started. They found that my pool light did have a ground wire, but could not find the ground wire for the filter/sweeper pump motors and timers. They told me that because my pool is older (1970?s) and my home is not in the San Antonio city limits it might not have been inspected or properly ground. They said my pool ?needs a #8 bond from the pool grid to the pump?. Since the job would require cutting though the concrete deck to get to the pool rebar grid, they suggested I call a pool builder/repairer because the builder/repairer would make it look ?much prettier? than they could. Upon invoice I was so pleasantly surprised when John told me since he didn?t fix the problem for me he wasn?t going to charge me for the inspection and disconnection of the pool light, only the $49 trip charge. Both father and son were very polite, professional, and knowledgeable in their field. I believe they are very honest and hard working people and are not out to price gouge and take advantage of their customers. I will most definitely call them whenever I need electrical work done. I highly recommend John Jones Electric Inc.

JT was on time and both my husband and I was impressed at how friendly he was. We had a list of things we wanted done. He went and checked them all out, then went and wrote up an estimate. Due to the cost we decided not to have the work done for the outside garage light, but will be calling them back for that at a later date. We were having problems with our bedroom light randomly turning off. He checked that and told us the wiring was fine and gave us some other things to check. (Turned out to be one of the things he said to check, bad remote control sensor in our ceiling fan) He preformed the rest of the work very quickly and vacuumed up the drywall dust from the installations. They also honored the coupon we got off angies list. We are very impressed and pleased with the work done.

Serice tech was polite and proffessional. work was accomplised in relativity short time. I thought priice was out of line for small amounte of work done. Fan switch was over 100.00$. Total fan cost was less than that. While installation of wall plug seemed high since there was no need to get into attic to run wiring I thought that charge was high, but then I'm living in age of high labor costs. Next time I will run comparisons before making decisions.

Arrived on time, did the work, discussed what he found in energy audit. Competent, punctual, professional and friendly. I like his work and his style.

They did a real good job. They were prompt and professional. They used a flat rate manual so there was no marking up stuff. I was satisfied with their work. I have to have some more electrical work done and I'm going to call them again.

John came out to look at the job this morning. He explained what was causing the problem. He listened to what my wife wanted to accomplish, and gave us his proposed solution. He explained exactly what the job would require, then went to his truck for a few minutes and came back with an itemized estimate. John was very nice, polite, professional, and pleasant to talk to. Our only issue was the price was just a bit more than we had budgeted for the job. His price was not outrageous, just more than we were looking for; otherwise we would have hired him on the spot. I'm certain he would have done a quality job had we hired him and just based on our interactions with him this morning, I will certainly consider him again for electrical work. I would have no problem recommending John Jones Electric.

OMG...where has this company been all my San Antonio life!!! HONEST, ETHICAL, looking to make a living not a killing. Flat Rate pricing was reasonable and they adjust the pricing to accommodate multiple repairs. The person who answers the phone for them is upbeat and personable. Your first interaction is with this lovely lady and she is informative and friendly. She is just a joy to speak with and makes a GREAT first impression. We scheduled the appointment knowing exactly what to expect. The night before our service a professional message was left to confirm date and time of service. The day of service a nice young man named TJ called to tell us he was on his way. He arrived in a clean van at approximately 9am, wearing a clean uniform and had the protect your home booties. He listened to what we were needing and we took him around the house to look at the different jobs. He understood what was needed and got out his pricing book & explained how the pricing works. We agreed on what he would do and he went about his business. He came over and gave me an update of what he found in our 115 degree attic and proceeded with the repair. He then went into our bathroom to go over wiring there. Again, he explained what was there and what he could do and could not do based upon our request. We declined that service and he put everything back, better than he found it. We chatted for a bit and then he went to his truck to get the invoice. The cost of the repairs and his professional expertise was $148.00. He left around 10:45am. I will be hiring John Jones Electric again. I am just delighted to have found this ethical, honest company.

This is a fantastic family run business!! Peggy was great on the phone and answered all of my questions. She clearly explained the service and pricing requirements. John Jones Electric was the only company out of the 4 I called that would waive the trip cost if you had them do the work at the time of the appointment/estimate. They also had special pricing for Angie's List members!! Mr. Jones and his son kept me informed of all the work they were doing, the price before they started the work, and they called to let me know about traffic troubles but still arrived around the scheduled appointment time.

I originally found them on Angie's List and I have been using them ever since. I like everything about them. They are very polite. They always wear those little bootees when they come in the house. They had to go in and out of the house three or four times; they took them off and put them back on. They are very personable. They cleaned up their work. I have been very happy with everything that they have done for me. I would absolutely continue to use them in the future.

The price included parts and labor. They are the best electricians we've ever found. We cannot sing their praises enough. They are fabulous. We would highly, highly recommend them. We?ve used them 2 or 3 times in the last 18 months. They are absolutely wonderful. They are very professional and very courteous. They do a really great job. They are really, really great guys. It is a family owned company. The husband and son work together and the wife is the bookkeeper. We really, really like them. They are very punctual and they have very good communication skills. They clean up after themselves. They do a very neat job and they are very organized. We will absolutely use them again.
