Solar Panel Installation
Description of Work: I could not be happier with my solar array and I saw an the immediate savings. When I decided to go solar, I did my research first and then started interviewing solar companies before I selected IES. The reason I selected IES, is that they took the time and explained the entire process, the costs involved, tax credits, answered all my questions and also helped in securing financing. They also helped my next door neighbor - she had been working with another solar company for her solar panels and she had been waiting months for the installation, IES was able to help her and they ended up installing her system. The process is seamless and they have a great team. Once I signed the contract it took about 30-45 days to get the panels installed and operational. My array has been up and running since June 2019 and I was able to see the immediate decrease in my CPS bill the first month. Best investment and home improvement.

Very responsive company, helped us with rebates and tax information. Even after my husband misplaced all the paperwork, company reps retrieved documents and followed up with local utility company to ensure proper rebate. Definitely would recommend.

IES lead us through the process and did everything that was cumbersome/time consuming for us (I. E. HOA approval, CPS refund, tax credit. ) they showed up on time every day. Were friendly and professional and answered all of our questions along the way. We received quotes from several vendors, and while they came in the lowest by far. The primary reason we went with them was that they did the original electrical work on our house when it was built so we knew that not been a local company for quite a while. But that they did quality work.
Description of Work: Installation of all solar system equipment, handled all permitting, HOA requirements and utility requirements from start to finish.

Excellent customer service! We were first time solar energy customers, and had a lot of questions, from how the system works, pros and cons of various design decisions, what to expect before, during and after installation. Brandon from IES was especially helpful and forthcoming with the proposal phase, and information regarding CPS rebates and tax credits available, and the figures we were provided turned out to be dead on. I never felt pressured to buy, Brandon presented the options and waited to hear back from my wife and I when the time was right for us. Brandon lined up everything, and kept in touch with us throughout the process by email and phone. The crew that came to install the system did so in a couple of phases... installing the solar panels themselves, installing control panels, a couple of inspections, and final hook up to the grid through CPS. The crews were courteous, professional, and very knowledgeable. As for the system, one of the things we requested was an 'eGauge' option to monitor the system - I definitely recommend this for anyone wanting to keep a pulse on their energy consumption versus solar panel production. I can check in anytime (from anywhere) to see what my over/under is, and review real-time charts or review data over just the past 10 minutes or the past year from my iPad or phone... We've been online now for a few weeks, and I've been monitoring with the eGauge for the last 7 days -- even with a few cloudy days, we've only used about 50 cents worth of energy more than our panels produced. I'm confident the system that I bought from IES will pay for itself in just a few years. Very satisfied customer, and I'd recommend them to anyone seeking some energy independence. If you do decide to go with IES in part because of this post, please tell them [Joe Erskine] sent you!
Description of Work: Consulted with us about our desire for solar panels, analyzed our need, designed a solution to fit our needs, and provided an estimate. When we were ready to go forward with the project, they worked with the city and CPS for all the permits and approvals, then coordinated the installation, inspection(s), and finally the hook up.

Since this was a big investment on my part I researched many solar companies and had gotten several estimates. I also educated myself on solar panels, installations, etc. I felt the IES bid was the fairest of them all. Brandon from IES was very patient in answering all of my questions, worked with me to get what I needed and did not try to oversell panels. Brandon took care of all the rebate paperwork, permits and homeowners approval. Once all of that was completed (which did take a couple of months because of the Christmas holidays) installation occurred soon after the New Year as promised. There was a lag time because of scheduling a CPS inspection before the system could be turned on but this was due to CPS scheduling issues. Once the system was operational, Brandon came back and helped me set up the monitoring system. Every person I have had dealings with from IES has been polite and professional. They come when they say they are coming and do what they say they will do. I am now looking forward to my first energy bill since the system has been hooked up.

Was intrigued about installing a solar system at my residence for several years. Less than 5 years ago, to install a system of the electrical production capacity that I wanted, the cost of the system exceeded the cost of my home. Contacted IES in December 2015 after a neighbor told me about the CPS rebates and federal tax incentives. Decided to proceed and had the system installed on December 2015. Installation went flawlessly... job was well done and the installation crew was awesome. Since the system was installed on my barn, I elected to dig the trench myself in order to tie in to the main service feed (nominally 250 feet). I would advise this as most solar installation companies likely don't have the equipment to do the trenching and you'll save money in the long run. System was commissioned and placed into service on 29 February 2016. If there were any drawbacks, the only negative thing I have to offer is the length of time it took CPS to schedule an inspection and improve the system (approximately 60 days). However, since the system was commissioned, it had produced almost four times the amount of electrical energy that our house has consumed. Even on cloudy days, its producing more that what we're using. Moreover, the system production is exceeding the theoretical production estimates provided at the time of the system quotation. Bottom Line: I'm more than pleased with the system and the installation process. After rebates and tax incentives, my out of pocket costs were nominally one-third of the total system costs. Barring unforeseen catastrophic repair of maintenance costs, we should recoup our initial investment in approximately 8 years... given the current cost of electricity. However, I fully expect the CPS electrical rates will increase significantly in the next several years due to recent legislation. Thus, the projected return on investment will likely be realized much sooner. All in all, highly recommended! I have no difficulties endorsing and recommending IES Solar.

You will have to call me to get the details. It was a nightmare. IES third man in the companies bosses contacted second in charge and he wasn't sympathetic to us at all. They made us feel like we were to particular. Not the case. It was a screw up from the get go. We ask them to make it right for six months. Their same installer would come out and mess it up again and again. They wouldn't stay with project to see it was done right the first time. Just unbelievable. IES doesn't have their own installers. They hire outside help. And, that was the problem. Seems like they can't control their contract laborers.
Description of Work: Lied, caused tremendous stress for 6 months. Their installer did everything wrong. IES -Brandon(salesman) did not oversee project. Installer damaged metal roof. Tried to caulk holes. Leaked twice. Guy paid to replace roof. Then we asked IES to put on rack in yard. Installer totally messed it up. Angle for best energy use was to be 26 degrees. It ended up 9 degrees. Had to argue to get refund for expenses to get electrical done. Made them tear out rack and remove solar. We lost out on our rebate from CPS and IRS.

They walked us through the process and were helpful and informative. My only complaint is that they were very responsive to all my questions and concerns up until after completion. Once paid and finished I had two problems that IES was extremely slow to respond to. First issue was after completion my utility bills were not reflecting what IES estimated for me. I have a 10 kilowatt system but was producing less than half of that. I started to call to get someone out to look at it but was unsuccessful for almost 2 months. I was made alot of promises that everything was working properly and someone would come out to check on it. When someone finally came out they informed me that only 1/3 of my panels are working and it was a minor wiring issue. They fixed that day and everything was working perfectly. Second issue was the eguage provided to be able to use your pc or phone to access your energy grid stopped working. After many calls I was unable to get any help from IES on this issue. I was able to contact eguage myself and get the part replaced. I am happy with my purchase and they did an excellent job with my installation aside from the issues listed above.

Description of Work: Installed a 4 KV solar system with micro inverters and enphase monitoring system. They custom designed our system for optimal performance and coordinated all electric company rebates. Our total out of pocket expense will be approximately $4500 after tax incentives. The system comes with a 25 year warranty backed by a company with a long tradition of excellence. I would highly recommend IES to install your solar PV system.

I highly recommend them. They did a fantastic job with the solar panel design, getting the needed permits and approvals, set up the subcontractors, and managed getting the final inspections from the power company. They took care of everything for the project. The design process took place in September, took about a month for the approvals, installed the system in October, and got the final approval from the power company in November. They kept me informed throughout the whole process via emails. They did a fantastic job and again would highly recommend their service. The engineer who oversaw everything, Brandon, did a great job in keeping me informed and involved in the whole process. He made sure everything was done to my satisfaction and with first quality hardware.
Description of Work: I had them install a 5.61 kilowatt solar panel system. This included 22 solar panels. It is an SMA Solar Inverter Renesola Panel.

Brandon Rickett came to my house, crunched the numbers for adding solar panels and thoroughly understood that I might not be able to afford it. I came to the meeting with my last 12 months of utilities bills and a requirement that the solar panels must pay for themselves within 10 years and comply to CPS standards of quality. This isn't a system that has a battery backup, but it does feed back into the grid when I am not using all of the power Brandon patiently crunched the numbers with me, talked about several scenarios, listened and heard my concerns and limitations. And, IES handled all the reimbursement submissions for CPS -- which paid for half of the costs! It couldn't have been easier. Excellent service and communication about every step in the process. I think every home here in south Texas should have solar panels or tiles. But, if you don't, it is definitely worth exploring. And you can't ask for better customer service -- Brandon was great to work with.
Description of Work: Arranged for the installation solar panels and provided guidance on how many panels to meet my requirements of paying for itself. IES also managed the application to CPS for financial support of the installation. IES met with the CPS representative for the meter installations that had to be changed out to accommodate the solar panels.
