we were supposed to hear back in 2-3 days of estimate for brick mailbox enclosure built on sidewalk. As of today we have never been contacted. Would never use this company again, very disappointed.... update: the owner, Alex did personally call me this week: Thursday 1/26/2012 and was very apologetic. He informed me his worker swore he had returned my call & left message (he actually never did). We had already hired another contractor & Mr. Alex even offered to pay some on our final bill as a good-will measure but I declined offer. I still feel problem took too long to be resolved. I wish Alex nothing but the best for this year but I am too old to deal w/this type of professionalism. Thank-you Lori Lozano

We apologize to the member for this inconvenience. We DID leave a message with her that we could not find a qualified mason to meet at the time.

Handyman showed up when he said he would, provided an estimate. Showed up as scheduled with materials and finished the work. I initially rated this as fair. After discussing my concerns with the contractor, I'm changing my rating to B (Good). I should have voiced my concerns with the contractor and given him a chance to answer my concerns/complaints. Contractor was very courteous and professional. Willing to work with me to ensure I was satisfied. That was greatly appreciated, and I would use this contractor again.

The project was completed to my satisfaction and the technician cleaned up the work site before leaving.
Description of Work: I asked for and received a free estimate for replacing an inadequate light fixture in our garage, extending the wiring for and installing a light fixture over my workbench in the garage and installing a circuit breaker and wiring for a dedicated circuit to connect our freezer to in the garage. After comparing estimates from two other companies, I selected Handyman connection to do the work. The technician arrived promptly on the date and time agreed upon and completed the work in a timely and professional manner. I provided the light fixtures that I wanted installed and he provided the wiring, boxes, circuit breaker and outlet for the freezer circuit. The cost for the components he provided were less than what I would have paid for them at Lowes or Home Depot.

I needed a stairwell painted white -- mostly just a touch up of some scrapes/dents from moving furniture up/down the stairs. The quote came in at over $400, which was way more than i was willing to pay for that level of effort.
Description of Work: Handyman connection only came and provided an estimate -- their estimate was too high, so i did not procure service from them.

Handyman Connection provides a fair price for quality workmanship, guaranteed for one year. Our service is provided by craftsmen with over 10 years of experience, licesned bonded and insured. We do criminal background checks on our craftsmen. If a member wishes to obtain low quality service from people with questionable backgrounds for a cheaper rate, then it is that member's choice, and we respect that.

Called to get estimates to have ceiling fans and wall mounted ironing board installed. Was told that a handyman could do the iron board, but a certificated electrician would have to do the ceiling fans. The electrician called to tell me he was running late and then never showed up. After calling the main office, they tried to track him down, without much luck, but told me they would call back the next day to have the visit rescheduled. I never received a follow up call and that was the last I heard of the electrician. Meanwhile, the handyman showed up to discuss the wall mounted iron board. He inspected the walls, checked for studs. He said the installation would not be a problem and promptly set up a date to do the work. Now, here is where the problems begin. He cut three test holes in the wall, just to make sure that there would not be electrical interference. Then he cut a 18x30 hole in the drywall and before realizing that there was an outlet box (given the outlet on the other side of the wall -- which I pointed all these out when he did the original estimate). Now, he says then installation won't work -- after he has cut a huge hole in our wall. But he assures me that he can fix it, and match the wall texture. Not to worry. Well, the patch job looks like total crap. You can see exactly where the huge hole was. The patch was sloppily done. The texture is awful. When he painted the drywall, he did not shake the paint can and it looks like he smeared the paint on with a rag. And to top it all off, we had to PAY him $85 to tear up our new house. Yes, we actually had to PAY for this botched work. It is so bad, that I'm going to have to PAY someone else to come out and try to fix it. And, we later found a little gift for us outside. When he washed his drywall tools outside, he splashed drywall mud on the exterior of our house. I would not use this vendor again, nor would I recommend them to anyone I know. Awful craftsmanship!
Description of Work: Handyman was to install a wall mounted ironing board. Instead, we ended up with a huge hole in the wall, that was sloppily patched and looks absolutely awful. We had to pay for this terrible craftsmanship and I'm going to have to have someone come fix it. By the way, no ironing board was ever installed.

Robert arrived on time, had all of the paint supplies needed. I supplied the paint. he started right away and was finished so quickly. He was so good at his craft that he didn't need painters tape. I was very impressed. I would ask for Robert again for future paint projects. Handyman Connection was the right call.
Description of Work: I called Handyman Connection because I have a 2 story stairwell that needed painting. Robert has 30 years experience and he did a beautiful job. I would definitely ask for him in the future. He showed up on time.

He was very friendly, cooperative, professional. I paid for the day of doing my list of little tasks (that I physically can't perform). I will use them again but I will wait until I have a sufficiently long list of items for a full day of work to justify the cost.
Description of Work: The handyman made an appointment to come to the house to see what needed to be done, give an estimate and determine what (if anything) was needed for him to do the job. A date/time for performing the job was then set and he arrive with all needed equipment/supplies (screws, drill, etc.). It was helpful that he went to the hardware store to obtain what he needed to do the job.

As illustrated by the large number of A ratings we have, the predominance of our customers are highly satisfied with our service. The situation was more complicated that the member described. Both our craftsman showed up on time to tackle the work, but converting the 110V to a 220V required pulling a permit, which our licensed electrician pointed out to him. NEVER, AT ANY TIME WAS THERE ANY MENTION OF PULLING A PERMIT. NEVER! THE ELECTRICIAN SIMPLY DISAPPEARED. We were more than happy to have done that for him. Unfortunately, pulling a permit required additional time, and the member did not want to expend any more time, because, as he pointed out, his tenant (I believe it was his daughter) would not have air conditioning for one evening. NOT MY DAUGHTER - MY PAYING TENANT. AGAIN - NO MENTION OF ANY PERMIT WAS EVER DISCUSSED. Yes, the work was straightforward, but Texas law prevented us from proceding with the work in the time the member wanted it done. SO WHY WAS THERE NEVER A RETURN PHONE CALL TO CONFIRM THIS? I NEVER HEARD FROM YOUR OFFICE AGAIN , FACT. The member may elect to have another individiual do the electrical conversion without a permit, but he wil have to do it at his own risk and at the risk of having an electrical fire. Handyman Connection is committed to the safety of our customers and following the letter of the law.
Description of Work: Disaster. I'm a Landlord - I deal with plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters - you name it - on a regular basis. Called Handyman Connection based on positive reviews from Angieslist. Called 2 days in advance of scheduled appt. (only time they could squeeze me in.) What I needed was simple enough - my regular handyman had done the exact same thing for me not 2 weeks before - but alas, was out of town on vacation. Assignment: remove small window AC unit (110 v.) replace with larger AC unit (220 v.) That's it! When I spoke to whoever it is answers the phone at "Handyman Connection" they assured me not a problem - both electrician and carpenter would show up on my assigned day. They did promptly. For some reason what i was trying to accomplish seemed to blow all their fuses. They hemmed and hawed and stared and looked and scratched and sighed. (We weren't exactly moving the Washington Monument here!) Finally, the carpenter says "OK, I can get started" - followed by the electrician saying "and i can come back tomorrow - cause I'm busy today". (!) I've got a tenant who's vacated her apt. for the entire day in the 103 degree heat to get this thing accomplished. She's NOT coming back to spend the night in un air conditioned apt. I made this emphatically clear when i set up the appt. originally. Carpenter "Bill" says he's going to rush back to the home office and confer and will get right back with me. The electrician then hands me a piece of paper with some other electrician's name scribbled on it - and disappears. UPSHOT - I NEVER HEARD FROM ANYONE AT HANDYMAN CONNECTION AGAIN.

Pleasant person, eager to please but not very knowledgeable about painting a Sitterle home. Should have used a primer instead of using 2 coats of Bahr paint with primer because the walls of the home were never primered. A professional painter should be able to see this and bid the job accordingly. We ended up using a lot more paint at $32.00/gallon when we could have used 1/2 and purchased the cheaper primer paint at $18.00/gallon. Presented himself as a professional. Used un-skilled staff. Took them 10 days to paint a 2400 square foot house - way too long to have your house in ruins.

The quality of the work was good but I thought the prices were high. The job went fine. I would use them for a price comparison in the future.

Description of Work: They fixed some chewed corners in the house (puppy damage), repaired holes under kitchen counter from plumbing repairs, re-textured and painted walls and ceilings in hall bath and dressing area.
They always do a good job. I would definitely use their services again in the future.

Overall, my experiences with Handyman Connection have been very good.
Description of Work: I’ve used Handyman Connection a few times. Most recently, they repaired my chimney and roof. They’ve also done some electrical work for me in the past.

I had excellent interaction with this company. They responded quickly and did a good job. They were on time. They are a good company and I will use them again. They knew enough about what they were doing to put steel rods in so it would not happen again and salvaged what they could from the damage.
