Response from Good Electric
Dear Mr. [Removed Member Name] , Thank you for taking the time to review our work. We appreciate your feed back. The appliance you added in your garage required a separate circuit by code and for safety. Connecting to your existing circuit would have been illegal, unsafe and a fire hazard. I am sorry you perceived my electrician's insistence on a separate circuit as coercion. As with all Angie's list customers we provide a written line item quote for the work requested. We will never provide a quote for something that is illegal or unsafe. You are free to choose if you want the work done. If you chose not to do the work, we thank you for the opportunity to quote your work and leave. There is no charge and no coercion. Our price for a separate circuit was not due to wire length, but the time required for two men. One to be in your attic and fishing wires to the other person at the electrical panel and to your new outlet, all without damaging any sheet rock. I reviewed the pricing and noticed an estimate error. You were charged for GFCI labor and material, when only the GFCI material was required as the labor was already included in the separate circuit price. We will be mailing you a refund check for the difference today. If you would like to call me, I would be happy to explain why connecting to an existing circuit was not safe.
