Rafael and Joseph had no trouble installing a ceiling fan we had purchased. However, the replacement of a faulty ceiling fan wall remote was more difficult. It was one of four interconnected remotes that operate two fans, and the replacement part was different than the other three. They figured it out and made what looked like an unworkable, work! The truly difficult task was running power from the circuit panel in our garage, through a wall and under a staircase, to an outside stone wall. We determined that it wouldn't work, but they were able to tie into an exterior light switch and run an inconspicuous conduit to the outlet location. I was impressed with their can-do attitude and the quality of their work. Good Electric will be my first call the next time we need an electrician.
Description of Work: Installed a ceiling fan, replaced a faulty ceiling fan remote, and installed an outdoor electrical conduit and GFI plug.

Dear Ms. [Member Name Removed], thank you for taking my phone call today to inquire about your F review for our services. I was pleased to hear that you had meant to give us straight A ratings and that the wrong rating was posted. Thank you for offering to promptly correcting the ratings. We look forward to working with you in the future. Larry Good

I don't use the indirects, but a guest turned them on and only one came on and it was blinking. I changed the bulbs, but they still wouldn't come on, so I called Good Electric. They replaced all four ballasts. The fixtures on one side would not work after the new ballasts were installed. I overheard the two installers in conversation several times and became concerned that they didn't know what they were doing. After a while they explained that the two fixtures were not getting power and asked me if they had ever worked. Since I never turned the indirects on, I didn't know. Since they had run out of ideas, they wrapped up and left. Later I contacted the previous owner of my home and found out that due to remodeling the power for the lights that wouldn't work had been cut off. Turns out the Good personnel knew what they were doing.

The electrician relocated an electrical outlet from one area of the wall cabinet to a lower section to allow the double wall oven to fit. This required drilling holes in difficult places which was time consuming. The technician was extremely pleasant and very courteous. We were very satisfied with the work performed. This is the second time we use Good Electric and have been very pleased both times. We would definitely recommend them to others.

I purchased the Big Deal for outlet repair in my garage -- $99 for $198 worth of service. Wasn't sure what it would cost to repair the outlet that wasn't getting power (therefore my sprinkler system wouldn't work) but I knew electricians are expensive. It seems it was a GFI outlet that had to be reset on another outlet that I wasn't aware of elsewhere in the garage. I felt very stupid, but Terry assured me he's had many similar calls in his career. He was only going to charge me for a service call and the rest would be put on credit for the future. I ended up having them apply the entire $198 toward installing an extra outlet in the garage on a wall that didn't already have an outlet. It's very easy now to recharge all the batteries for my lawn mower, weed eater, etc. I am very happy with the service I received. Terry was very nice and I appreciate him not laughing at my lack on knowledge about GFI outlets.

The electrician sent out, Terry, was excellent. He explained things in a way I could understand and got to work. He cleaned up after himself which is much appreciated. His company is luck to have him and if all their electricians take the time and effort in customer communications like he does, they are on to something.

I had an electrical short and a tripped breaker. I was unable to reset the breaker so I consulted Angie's list for an electrician. I called Good Electric and received quick, friendly service and a prompt appointment. Angie's List discount was readily confirmed. An electrician, a gentleman named Ronny, along with an apprentice named Jacob, arrived on time after a courtesy call 30 minutes before arrival. He immediately recognized that there was no breaker problem. He took the time to thoroughly inspect and test all the circuits in the main board. Finding no problems there he then checked the wall switch that engaged the previously suspected breaker. He found that to be a faulty switch and quickly replaced it. After checking everything involved for safety and function, they cleaned up the area and returned all the covers to their original places. He concluded with a few safety tips and suggestions. Elapsed time approximately 15 minutes. The entire episode was handled in an outstanding and completely professional manner. The price was fair and the job was completed quickly and with minimum disruption of electric service. I would strongly recommend Ronny and Good Electric to anyone and I will definitely use them again in the future.

I was not here when they gave the original quote. I assumed that the price would be fair. We were charged a $29 service fee even though there was no mention of that in the offer. I ended up paying $218 additional for the installation of the fan and the outlets + service fee. I feel like we were taken advantage of and I'm very disappointed and feel that we should receive some compensation back.

Response from Good Electric
Dear Mrs. [Member name removed], Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on Angie’s List. We were surprised by your comments. The person we met with in your home approved our detailed line item estimate for the work to be done including the service fee before any work was done and your representative even commented that the charges were reasonable. When the work was completed your representative signed that we had satisfactorily completed all the work. We fail understand why you feel you were taken advantage of. Everything was detailed and approved in advance. We certainly wish you had been there so you would not be dissatisfied about work approved by your representative. Our scope of work was to remove and replace two sconce fixtures and to remove an existing ceiling fan, assemble your new ceiling fan with light kit and install on a high ceiling. The vast majority of our customers give our pricing above average ratings. As described on Angie’s List this special is for a $198 credit off our invoice to you and any amount not used is valid to be used for future work for one year. All details are provided for approval before we begin work. If you do not approve the work there is no charge. Thanks again for your comments and we hope this explanation helps.

Called first , and was able to get estimate over the phone. New fan had same dimensions as the old one to be removed so no Sheetrock work was needed. On day of install they arrived on time and complete the job within 30-45 min. Cleaned up afterwards and cost was as estimated over the phone. Very professional. Had previously gotten an estimate from another company for over $500.00 to remove and install fan. Other company included a fee of $150.00 in their estimate for "excessive heat charge" for having to go in the attic.

Found these folks on Angie's list with an A rating and coupon for $198 worth of work for $99. I had purchased the new dimmers and fan control and discovered the the current controls were wired strangely. I was uncomfortable working with the unusual wiring, so I contacted Good Electric. They promptly contacted me to schedule same day. The electrician arrived promptly and performed the work professionally. Since I provided the new equipment, I assumed that the $200 voucher would be sufficient. However, even with providing the parts myself, we were charged $80 per switch and owed an additional $140 (so, $240 total with the coupon purchase). It seems really steep pricing to pay (in essence) $340 for a 30 minute job where the homeowner provides the parts. I'm happy with the work, but will not use them again as their pricing is too high.

I had bought the $99 dollar special for two hours of electrical work (reg. $198). They charge by the job (set prices) and not the length it takes to do the work. So I wanted them to quote for replacing one circuit breaker and lighting in the storage area above the garage. They wanted to charge almost $200 to replace the breaker, which is approximately 50% higher then other quotes received from other electricians on Angie's list, so I passed on that. I had them install a switch and light fixture (purchased myself) in the garage storage area, which was $330, so with the discount it saved me approximately $100. They were very polite and professional and on-time. So I am happy with the $230 overall cost, which I believe is fair.

Had my handyman install a new security light. The light did not work. Called Good Electric, who sent Terry out to investigate. Terry arrived on time. EXACTLY on time, saving me hours of sitting around waiting. Terry was very knowledgeable, professional and pleasant. He repaired the loose connection in no time flat, allowing me to get to work much sooner than I was expecting. It is such a pleasure to do business with a company that respects my time and resources, no price gouging or lollygagging. I will definitely call Good Electric in the future for my electrical needs.

Terry is amazing. Did the job. And then when I contacted him to pay he said "No worries. Just call and pay on Monday" I contacted the shop and Ms Benz (that's what we call Mercedes) was very helpful/supportive. She even scanned and sent the receipt to me at SAMMC. Not sure how much more $$ I want to dump on the old house but if it involves anything electrical I will likely stick with Good. Terry has a patient teacher's heart in the words of Dave Ramsey. I'm woefully undereducated on the basics of electrical stuff. AcDc is a band as far as I'm concerned. I had an air conditioning company tell me that I'll most likely need another 220 for an external a/c refrigerant pump and if so I will likely insist on Good.

After I set up an appointment, they showed up right on time. After agreeing to a schedule of rates for diagnostic work, the technician allowed me to follow him around so I could learn some of the basics on running down problems. This probably slowed him down but it didn't effect the bottom line. After he showed me where the problems were, I was able to fix them myself. I signed off on the ticket and everyone was happy. But after he left, I noticed he charged me full price for checking out the hot tub which only took 20 minutes for him to tell me that it would take a spa specialist to find the problem. Now, the good part...when I called the manager, he talked to the technician and they agreed that the charge was a mistake and I was refunded the full amount for the diagnostic. NO EXCUSES, NO HASSEL! THANKS GOOD ELECTRIC for being so honest! John
