Salesman didn't have the proper forms. Quoted one price upon which we agreed; however, when the statement arrived the cost was for double the amount. After several calls back and forth, the statement was corrected but only after lots of stress and aggravation. The installation team did not clean up after the installation. My lawn service was kind enough to clean up debris left behind. Also, will eventually have to paint over the nails used to reattach the hardiplank planks after blowing in the insulation through the holes in the cardboard lining keeping the existing insulation in place. They would have painted over the nail if I'd had the paint; however, I did not know there would be a need for paint. Therefore, I did not have any available for them. I expected they would blow in the insulation through opening in the wall into the attic. The installer found that there was not enough crawl space to use that method; therefore, they used the process I described. They only had white paint and used it to cover at 8-10 spots. However, that does not look good. After all this consternation, I HAVE noticed improvement in cooling and heating of that room. It's good insulation. The process they used, however, presented many opportunities for improvement to it.

There is a review for this provider dated 1/24/17 that I concur with. Same situation, same demonstration. Nice guys, professional, apparently take pride in their company and product. After some discussion they gave good advice about the best bang for the buck. So, I hate to rate them so low. But, I also balked at the estimate I recieved. I have a modest home (1600 sq ft) and total cost was $22k, unless I purchased today. I really dislike that type of quote, but it would be reduced to $16k if I scheduled the install during the conversation. Wow. Definitely worth your time to get multiple estimates and research options on consumer websites regarding product pros and cons. I found a different installer on Angie's List, also 'A' rated, that was less than half the cost for the blown insulation. I have elected not to go with the radiant barrier for now, but it was a different product, so I can't compare the quotes.

Fortunately, I always do my research into what products and services I'm buying. This prevented me from paying for a product I would not have received. There are many types of blown in insulation materials that can be used. Cellulose, Fiberglass, and Mineral/Rock Wool are the most common. They sent Jerry out to my home with a trainee. Jerry and assistant walked the attic and we sat down. Jerry explained that I needed to make sure to compare apples to apples on my quotes because they use "wool" insulation. He showed me the bright white insulation they use and even put a lighter to it. (which proves nothing by the way. A lighter will not ignite any approved insulation product.) He even sent me an internet link to show how much safer wool is over fiberglass as far as a melting point and fire barrier. Here is the link sent . [*** Link removed ***] For 2074 sf, I received a quote of $4700.00 of R32 blown to bring attic to R48. In San Antonio, CPS only suggests R38 Max is needed. I balked big time. That is alot of money from the research I had done. He made a call to the owner allegedly and he dropped the quote to $4172.00. I told him I needed 2 other quotes and he said to make sure I compare apples to apples. Jerry's quote came in email form, not a contract. "R-32 Blown wool blend insulation to 2,074 square feet of attic insulation over living area .Life time R- value" I received 2 other quotes. 1 for 2100.00 and 1 for 1500.00 of R22 to bring the attic to R38. They both showed me the insulation they were to use that looked just like the sample Jerry showed me. I asked Jerry to send me the spec of what Energy Home Pros were quoting. This is what he sent. "Claimant Pro by James Manville" It is actually Climate Pro by Johns Manville. This insulation is FIBERGLASS, not any type of wool blend at all. I called JOHNS, not James, Manville and that the word "wool" is only descriptive. It is FIBERGLASS and in no way Mineral Wool of any kind. I received 2 pictures of the product and they both show on the packaging "Fiberglass" I emailed Jerry about this misrepresentation of the product he was quoting and I stated I was waiting to hear back from his supervisor. He responded. "I only relay what is told to me. I value the company I work for , and would NEVER intended to misrepresent our company. I have brought this to my supervisors attention. My apologies, Jerry" I have yet heard from any supervisor. My advice to Angies List members: DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Get the specs of the actual product being quoted and make sure it is what has been represented to you. Always get a written contract with all the specifications of the product on it. he Johns Manville Climate Pro is a high quality product. We used it in our attic and are very happy with it. Needless to say, this contractor did NOT install it.

We appreciate the feedback and we sincerely apologize for the confusion on the product and this individual has been addressed. In fact, this product is a fiberglass wool blend. We take great pride in going above and beyond minimum building standards which for what you got quoted was for a R-32 and "yes" it would have brought your levels up to R-48. Minimum is just enough to get by, that's why they say minimum standards. We go above and beyond to give the best protection you can get; unlike other companies we offer a lifetime R-Value guarantee. If at any time the insulation settles or drops below the level installed we would come back, bringing the levels back to original purchase level. Johns Manville Climate Pro is a high-quality product as well as our service! So obliviously, it's a great product you got it installed and I'm sure it's working great for you.

The representative initially was unwilling to speak with me without my husband also present. I explained that my husband was not going to also take time off from work so if they did not want to quote it with just me present, we would talk with someone else. The rep. had to get permission from his office to discuss anything with just me. When he was finished with the measurements/calculations we discussed the different types of insulation offered, etc. -all professionally explained. They were suggesting using white wool - r32. I asked how they handled non-IC can lights. He was not sure what they did but said that they insulated numerous houses with them so they knew what they were doing. I told him that we could not agree on anything unless we knew exactly what we were getting. He said he would have to get back with me on if the cans were boxed or if they just kept the insulation back with the wire mesh. He then stated that if we signed for the to do it immediately, we would receive a discount ($4670) but if we did not sign immediately, it would be $5493. I told him that we would not agree to something unless we knew exactly what we were getting and no, we would not sign anything immediately. When he left, he was supposed to get back with me to let me know how the can lights would be handled. We never heard back from them and I did not pursue it because I did not like their sales tactics.

The salesman was very efficient at describing the products and the advantage of installing the products. The installer was good at explaining the product and the method he used for installing both products.. Immediately after each product was installed, I noticed a noise reduction in my house. The nest day, it was noted that my air conditioner was operating less. I should have did this years ago..

The sales associate arrived brought out his temperature gun and we looked around for hot spots, and the windows were showing about the same temperature as outside. He then demonstrated how effective the window tinting is, then he went around and measured the windows, and provided us a quote. $3600, and being able to finance 18mos @ 0%. We accepted and the following week we had it installed. It has been rainy and cool so all the windows stay open, and we have not run a/c system, but I believe the window tinting will really help.
Description of Work: Last year we had insulation blown in our three different attics and added reflective insulation as well. This year we were still having an issue with the upstairs heating up during day when we don't run the a/c. Energy Home Pros called asked about things were going I explained the issue, and we made an appointment, the window tint is amazing how well it blocks heat transfer.

The two gentleman arrived approximately an hour late from out of town (3 hr drive on a good day). I verified with office staff and was informed they had to make extra stops to pick up additional supplies. Once they were here they got started right away explaining what they were doing and what the materials installed were made of. They wore the proper safety gear for the job and cleaned up small bits of insulation before leaving. We're happy with the results. Our home is now easily maintaining a 15 degree minimum temperature difference. We'll see how much more it will do, come summer and the triple digits. We were advised that our electricity bill would drop by 1/3. The job took them 4 1/2 hrs to complete for 1800 sq ft of attic floor.
Description of Work: True Blue radiation barrier was installed under the roof and formaldehyde free fiber glass insulation was blown in as well. Both together make for a much nicer room climate and we are anticipating nice savings on cooling costs during the upcoming Texas summer. The true blue was stapled under the roof by a capable, knowledgeable two man crew. Afterward they blew in 8 inches of white fiberglass insulation for a R19 insulation rating.

An inspection person came out & I told him what I wanted. He told that a team would come out & spread plastic lining where they would come in with a hose (so the floor would not get dirty, etc.). When the scheduler called, I was not ready to do it because of Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving, they called & said they had an opening on 12/5/15. After they told of the times available, I chose 2-4 pm. A team arrived at 9:20 am. I told them my appointment was from 2-4 pm & that I was getting ready to leave. I also told them we NEVER (if possible) make morning appointments before 10 am because we are night owls. I was told he could not return in the afternoon because he had a wedding to attend. Feeling sorry for him, I said OK even though my wife was still asleep & they would be working directly above her. I woke her up. I asked what they would be doing. I was told they would be spreading out 4-4.2 bags of insulation (500 sq ft @ R19). At that point, I asked to see what they were given on the job description. On the contract, it was spelled out 5 bags. They said, oh, ok. I let them proceed. I fixed myself breakfast. While I was gone, they had already started spreading without any plastic lining. As a result, the carpet was soiled. When they were finished, he started picking up pieces of insulation, etc. I asked if he had a vacuum cleaner? He said it was broken. He started "fluffing" the carpet. I told him that would only allow the dirt, etc. to go deeper. Even the attic lite was left on (it was on his check list to be done). I pointed it out & he turned it off. In the yard, there are still pieces of insulation. (Looks like snow on the ground) I have called the three phone numbers I had for them on Saturday (while they were here). I told them I wanted someone from the company to call me...As of 3:30 PM Monday, no response.
