Biggin's Door Refinishing

The technician was very professional and did a great job. The weather stripping looks great, the door seals well, and our front door now looks amazing!! The stain color the technician recommended was the perfect choice and we love the results!

Our Front door was sanded and stained. Biggins did a great job! They were on time, explained everything they were going to do first. Our door was taken down but they put up some plastic to protect the house. They worked thru/out the day to make sure that they were done. Our door looks like new! I highly recommend them.

Our front door was a wreck! Many years of direct sunlight (our front door faces West) really sunburned our poor front door and it needed an overhaul. Neil and his son showed up promptly at 8 am and worked until 8 pm---in the crazy Texas heat! I was so impressed with their great attitudes and work ethic-that's hard to find these days. They took our raggedy, massive mahogany door from yuck to yahoo! I am absolutely thrilled with the results and it looks brand spankin' new!

The re-finisher arrived right on time. He removed the front door and fitted a heavy plastic curtain to keep the air-conditioning from escaping. He removed all of the hardware including door handles and locks, plus the decorative wrought-iron in front of the glass center panel. He then covered the glass with protective paper. The door was sanded down to bare wood and re-stained with the color of our choice. Once the stain had dried, several coats of a UV resistant urethane coating were applied. The same process was repeated on the back side. Once the door was dry, it was rehung and hardware reinstalled. Our door faces due west and receives the full strength of the afternoon summer sun. It was looking pretty ratty after several years of this. It now looks better than new. We are very pleased with the results and the professionalism of everyone concerned from the individual who took the order over the phone to the one who did the work. The entire job took approximately 7 hours.

Fast contact by Leanne through Angie's List, set up an appt quickly. Neil and his son Taylor came by early in the AM, and it took until 5pm until they were done. They took both doors down and literally sanded down to the original wood, then stained and applied 3 coats of marine varnish. The result was fantastic, huge difference up close. Knocked off $ since they had intended to touch up our iron work with paint, but since it was bare and brown it didn't need it, so Neil suggested a quick pressure wash to clean it up. Taylor worked on the molding around the door and matched it to the doors, again sanding down to bare wood. Neil fixed our door handle that was messed up, and it couldn't be any better. Would recommend and will call back for next refinish/door job we have.

Taylor Biggins exceeded our expectations; his meticulous attention to detail and superior skills in refinishing restored our mahogany front door back to it's original beauty. The exterior had been badly weathered and we thought the inside would have to be painted in order to get rid of scratches and make it presentable again, however, Taylor was able to expertly sand the entire door back to smooth wood, artistically reapplied stain and sealer, and re-coated the decorative wrought iron grate panel on the window insert of the front door to make the door look "brand-new' again. We couldn't be more pleased and highly recommend this company.

A beautiful job! The door was badly weathered from years of being exposed to the evening sun. When they finished with the door it looked new! They showed up right on the button. Actually they showed up a few minutes early and waited for the exact appointment time to ring the doorbell! They were super organized and clean. With a pet in the house I was concerned about the front door being taken off. They had a solution and implemented it before I asked. As they finished a major step of the refinishing they would stop and come get my permission before moving to the next step - true professionals!

Neil Turner, the owner showed up on time and was very professional and courteous. He is meticulous with the details and our door was well sanded and cleaned before staining. Our door looks brand new! We are very pleased with the results.

Taylor showed up and began work as scheduled. He was courtious, polite and professional. Taylor completely explained the process and set our expectations for the steps and time frame. After removing the door he placed a tarp over the opening and allowed us to select stain colors. All work was completed as expected and any mess was completely cleaned. Next he explained how most door hardware has a lifetime warranty and how to contact the manufacturer to see if a replacement would be covered based on oxidation and wear. A brief phone call to the manufacturer netted the process to obtain the correct replacement hardware within 10 days. Taylor then explained the curing process and how to determine how the new finish is handling the elements over the next 18 months. We highly recommend Biggin's Door Refinishing!

Mr Turner came out to look at door right away since my photos weren't clear enough on damage. Work was scheduled for a week later and Leane at the office ensured I had invoice, etc right away, plus was very diligent in confirming appointment. One-man crew (Neil's son) arrived promptly and got to work. With my door down, he setup a canvas cover to keep the "doorway" closed. He worked right in front of the house and let me choose stain color...actually demonstrating the colors on the door in daylight. He finished in about 7 hrs and my door and hardware were back in place. He adjusted the new sweep to my satisfaction. A polite and fast workman. They did a great job and neighbors have been so impressed with the quality, they've stopped by to get the company's name!

If only all other tradespeople were this professional, service-oriented, affordable, and personable, home upkeep would be so much easier. After an efficient appt. setting with Leanne, her son Taylor arrived on time, explained exactly what the process would look like, and got to it. We just bought the home and our door was a total mess. I'm guessing the last coat of stain or spar was several years ago - at least. The door was total ghetto, no kidding. However, by the end of the day, it looked like we had a brand new door, amazing. Based upon this experience, I'm definitely going to sign up for their maintenance program so that the door continues to look this good. New to San Antonio, I much depend on Angie's List, and I'm so glad I found Biggin's here.

My front door faces the South and receives the brunt of our South Texas sun. I had my door and side lights refinished approximately three years ago and since then both were in pretty bad shape. Neal Turner, owner, and his son Taylor arrived promptly in the morning and provided an overview of the work needed to rejuvenate my front door. Neal and Taylor are very personable, neat and professional. They worked approximately from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. In addition to refinishing the dorr and side lights, they replaced the door hardware and replaced the weatherstripping. The final product of their work is amazing. My door was on life support and the Turners brought it back to life. I am sure others do similar work in the San Antonio area but I can't imagine someone doing it better than Biggins. My wife is happy with their work and I couldn't be happier. Neil is very professional. His attention to detail was outstanding. The door looked brand new after completion. We have indoor cats and Neil did a great job securing the front entrance when the door was removed for re-staining. Again great job! Will use them again in the future.

This was one of the best companies that I have used on angie's list. We communicated through the angieslist app for questions and scheduling. That really worked well for me because it's usually difficult for me to find a lot of free time during business hours and this allowed me to respond when I was free in the evenings. They responded to every message in less than 24 hours and answered all my questions. Because of my schedule we weren't able to get things going for a couple of weeks, but they showed up early. So early in fact that the guards wouldn't let them into the neighborhood (our HOA is strict about when work can be done). They called me to let me know what was going on and waited outside the gate until it was time. They immediately got to work taking the door off the hinges and taping everything up. The worked quickly and smoothly and didn't seem to mind when I would peek in on them to see how things were going. They answered all of my questions and explained in detail what they were doing and why. The door looks 1000 times better than it did before. I would not hesitate to call them again. They finished ahead of time and they left everything as clean as when they got there. A class act all the way.

Neil Turner and his son did an excellent job bringing my doors back to life. And they redid the door sweep and stripping which made a huge difference in the side door in particular. They have a maintenance program which I will gladly become a participant in.

First, calling Biggins Door Refinishing - they were prompt on the phone and calling us back, gave us an estimate and where to find stain colors on a website to chose from. From call to having the actual door refinished was less than a week. Neil did the work, he arrived on time today and did an excellent job of sanding, staining and refinishing our front door. He was professional and did it in about 4-4 1/2 hours, set up his little tent on the street in front our house and did all the work from his van and the tent. He re-hung the door perfectly and our front door looks like new again! Neil was able to match the stain perfectly and we couldn't be happier with his services and will definitely recommend him to others and use him again if needed. Went just as expected. Showed up on time, very polite, professional. Set up a tent in front of the house and completed the work there. Chose a stain to match what I had previously. Completed the job in a timely fashion (about six hours to completely re-do the door). Replaced hardware. Cleaned up and left no mess behind. A super job. Would definitely recommend their services.

I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and customer service from this family-owned business. I contacted the owners to inquire about the service, and I received an immediate reply. I sent pictures of my door, and from there they gave me an estimate. We scheduled a time that was convenient for me. The day the service was to be completed the worker came out on time, took the door off, protected the area and covered up the opening with plastic. Then, he proceeded to work throughout the entire day to complete the task. Throughout the process if there were any questions, he would talk to us about how we'd like to proceed. And, he was very helpful in helping us choose the correct color. In the end, I have a beautiful front door again. I was thoroughly pleased throughout the entire process, and I'd recommend them to anyone needing refinishing work.

Our front door, side lights and 12 panel top lights were in need of a fresh coat of varnish. James came out and did a top notch job of putting on a fresh coat of varnish. He removed the front door, placing it on 2 saw horses under a protective tent cover. He then thoroughly covered the open doorway with thick plastic to prevent the elements from getting in the house. He was careful to put tape around the glass while he worked. He sanded down the old varnish, repaired a few places and applied the new coat. James did a meticulous job and we are so pleased!
