 + 0 moreMartin and his associate arrived at the appointed time and worked efficiently to remove old heater and install new one in the attic. Job site was left in a clean condition. They also did an unscheduled job of repairing a leak in the faucet in the backyard. This leak started during the time they were here and they stayed into the evening until they made sure the PVC/metal joint was leak-free. I was impressed with their knowledge and plumbing skills and ability to provide detailed explanation of the work.
Description of Work: Replaced gas water heater in the attic with new Rheem 40-gal heater. Put in new flex lines, gas flex with vacuum breaker required by code. Also shutoff valve. Disposed of old water heater. Also repaired outside water leak in back yard. Replaced PVC elbow leading to hosebibb.

 + -1 moreTheir installation of my new A/C system was "okay." Their follow-up service was not great. Service Manager (Brad) does not seem to understand A/C units very well. Be careful that they don't deliberately remove the caps from your A/C unit's condensate drain lines, otherwise you'll be unnecessarily blowing cooled air directly into your attic.
Description of Work: Had a new Lennox Elite Series 3-ton A/C unit and a new furnance installed (16.0 SEER System combined) for my 1st floor. Price was very good and work was "okay." My only disappointment with this company was that they did not install a cap on the PVC condensate drain line "vent" that exists between the A/C coil and the water trap in the drain line. Consequently cold air-conditioned air was freely blowing out of this 1-inch open vent pipe into my attic. This pipe is not actually meant to be a vent. It is a clean-out port that gives access for periodic cleaning of the water trap. Anyway, I went to Lowes and bought a $1 PVC cap and installed it. No big deal. BUT THEN, when they returned in April 2011 to do the Spring tune-up, they removed the cap (and lost it) and ALSO removed the cap from the adjacent A/C system (which serves my 2nd floor) that Tiger Services had installed for me two years ago. (Incidently, Tiger had some of their own issues, but at least they understood the need to install a cap!) When I call Beyer Boys on April 26, 2011 and spoke with "Brad" their service manager and told him that the Technician had removed both vent caps, he started to tell me that the vent caps aren't necessary. When I politely interrupted him to tell him that in the majority of the installations, like mine, where the clean-out line ("vent") is positioned between the coil and the water trap (as opposed to downstream of the water trap) the cap is in fact very necessary, and that all manufacturers (Lennox, Trane, etc) have manuals explicitly stating that a cap should be used on these "vents," Brad didn't seem to understand and then went into a "Whatever-You-Say-Sir, I'll-Be-Glad-To-Come-Out-And-Put-The-Cap-Back-On" response mode. I was very disappointed that their installation manager didn't seem to understand this very basic (and very commonsense) concept and was, as a matter of policy, deliberately not practicing it - (in stark contradiction to manufacturers' recommendations). So, my recommendation to anyone who has had their A/C systems installed by or serviced by Beyer Boys, you might want to climb up into your attic to check if they've pulled the caps off of your condensate line vents and if you're wasting money by unnecessarily cooling your attic.

 + -1 moreI had a very good experience with them. They were prompt and showed up as requested. Their price was in the ballpark with every other company. They do a good job. I have used them 2 or 3 times for various things. Once they rebuilt the toilet. That was a little more than what buying a new one would have been. My husband did not like the design of the new toilet and wanted the old one. I spent $100 the last time I used them. They were very professional, courteous, friendly, showed up on time, did not make a mess and cleaned up behind themselves. They showed up when they said they would and the time spent on the job was reasonable for what they were doing. I have subscribed to a contract for their service. Their price is in the middle of the road.

 + -1 moreI used to use another company and I used them a couple of times, but I wasn?t completely happy. So, I ended up switching to Beyer Plumbing and they were very good. I got four estimates for the job before I had it done. I chose them and I was extremely pleased. They were really professional and very outstanding. Their price was as good as anybody. The estimate was $11980, but I included some other stuff later on. So, the price was approximately $12000.
Description of Work: Beyer Plumbing installed a new heating and air conditioning system for me in November.

Beyer Boys were rapidly responsive and fixed the problem in about 2.5 hours. The price was high for the duration of the work done.

 + -1 moreOn-time, professional, knowledgeable and polite technicians. However, installation techs recommended duct work to better utilize the variable speeds and multi-stage compressor. This was not discussed during estimate. Requested a supervisor/manager to discuss this on-site, and issue was negotiated and resolved within couple hours. Negotiated a fair/good price for additional work. All work completed in a timely manner. Very satisfied with product, installation and performance. Somewhat dismayed by estimation without ductwork, but resolution was satisfactory to us. Beyer is a solid company.
Description of Work: Installed central air, 16.5 SEER multistage compressor. Replaced ductwork and installed valves for balancing air flow.

 + -1 moreWent to go and set my water faucet outside to drip during the big freeze. It was already leaking...a lot. I couldn't turn it off and it was late at night. I sent them an email and they came out and fixed it the next afternoon while I was at work. It was below freezing outside and the yard by the spigot was a frozen slushy swamp. Plumber called and I gave the go ahead and he did the work. I checked it when I came home and it was done properly. No complaints on the quality of the workmanship or the parts. Price was a little high, but I didn't have to mess with it so I guess it was worth it. They carefully looked at everything before they said that that was all it was. They are one of the best companies that I?ve ever worked with, and we have used them quite a bit. They are considerate and on time, or early. They tell me exactly what they are doing. They have often given me extra parts and done a little extra, and haven?t charged me for it. Their motto is that they bend over backward, and they really do. I just don?t bother with any other plumbing company. Before we started using them regularly, we had checked with other providers about the price, and they have always offered the best price. I would rate them highly and would continue to use them in the future.
Description of Work: We had a freeze here and it looked like we had an outside break on the wall from the water, and so we used Beyer Plumbing to check that.

 + -1 more3 Technicians showed up at my house at 8:00 AM, and were there for 10 hours. The complete system was installed, and they did quite an extensive duct renovation, too. The crew was polite, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. They explained every stage to me, and spent the final hour giving me instructions on the system. They had a specially hard time installing the wiring for the thermostat, because of a firewall which I had. They stuck with it until the job was done. Each one had his own area of expertise, and they also worked well as a team.
Description of Work: Beyer Salesman Chris Bennett visited my house on 8/19, gave me a turn key cost right on the spot. I decided to go with Beyer on 8/21, & scheduled the install for 8/28/09. They do not charge for labor by the hour, just by the job, so I knew what all my costs would be by 8/19/09. They disposed of my old equipment, installed all Lennox: Model XC21, 3 ton, 2 stage Condensing Unit, 2-stage Variable Speed Gas Furnace; Evaporator Coil, High Efficiency media Filter & ComfortSense 7000 thermostat. The SEER Rating is 19.0. They took care of all rebates, & the City permit. I also checked other companies on Angie's List, but Beyer was ranked 5 stars by JD Powers, and had an excellent rating with the BBB also; and Lennox has won many awards for its HVAC systems.

We are very happy with our choice. Beyer was responsive (in the midst of an unprecedented heat wave) and did a quality job at a price that was considerably below most of the other estimates. Both the sales rep and the installing technicians answered our questions and were very professional.

The price was more than reasonable and the service was terrific. That was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had on a while.
