We needed to replace old vinyl tiles with sheet vinyl, square footage of both rooms combined is a little under 300sf. After visiting several showrooms, we liked the selection at Atlas. The service we received from the sales staff was friendly and professional, and the salesperson seemd to really know not only the products, but also how they would be installed. She came out to the house to take measurements and give a firm quote, and was very pleasant to do business with. The quote was competitive, and she explained in detail what was and was not covered. She was also very responsive to questions we emailed later on. Setting up an installation date was fast, and they were able to be flexible around our schedule, admittedly this was probaby a slow time of year for floor installations. The installation crew (2 men) showed up on time and went to work immediately; they worked hard and didn't slack off; they were also friendly and professional. They moved the appliances, then removed three layers of old flooring and underlayment, leaving a last original layer of tiles which would have been expensive to remove, and unnecessary. They installed what appeared to be a good quality underlayment. All of that was accomplished in one day. The second day, the same crew came back and began prepping the underlayment, then installed the vinyl for the entire kitchen and laundry room in one continuous sheet with no seams. That was a very interesting process since they had a lot of cabinets to cut around. One of the crew was obviously a very experienced installer, and it was fascinating to watch him cut so quickly around counters, closet doors, door jambs, etc. It's fun to watch people who are good at what they do. They moved the appliances back in place (we asked to reconnect them ourselves, but they would have done that if asked) and finished the complete installation before 4pm the second day. They cleaned up after themselves very well on both days and hauled away all the debris. My only, minor complaint was the crew did not have an appliance dolly, which would have made moving the appliances so much easier on them and the appliances as well as that brand new floor. I think this crew was a contract crew, so I can see that he might not want to invest in a dolly but if I had known ahead I would have made sure they brought one, or I would actually borrow one myself, to protect my appliances. Overall we are extremely pleased with the entire experience. I would definitely use this company again for future flooring needs.

I went to their showroom on 1604 north to compare prices/products with the quote that I had already received from another company for a tile floor install of about 900 sq feet and a carpet install of about 800 sq ft. The staff was helpful on this day. We scheduled a measurement of the areas that I wanted tiled and carpeted for two days later (Thursday). The rep from this company did not show up at the time that we had scheduled. I called the office and they stated that he was on his way. He showed up 40 minutes late. He took the measurements and stated that he would contact me by the end of the day with a quote. I did not hear from him at all. I patiently waited until Saturday afternoon (48 hours) at which time I called him in order to get a quote so we could get this project started. When I called I was told he was with another customer and that he would call me back. I received a call from him about an hour later. He stated that the job would be around $5,000 give or take and that the carpet would be about $3,000. That was his estimate based on jobs around this size. I was shocked that he apparently had not run the numbers to provide me with an exact figure. He seemed to be just guessing. Why bother taking measurements if you are going to guesstimate! I never heard from them again. This company was a BIG dissapointment since I was ready to spend the money and I think they do good work, but how would I know? They didn't seem interested in my job. Thumbs down! **Update 10/29/2012** Mr. Mahone made efforts to reach out and apologize for the poor experience that I had with his 1604 North store. He has handled my complaint with absolute professionalism and I believe that he has addressed the issue with his staff. Because of his efforts, I will change my rating to reflect that I will consider this company for future projects.
Description of Work: A measurement was performed. A written estimate was never provided. Instead, I received a guess.

Response from Atlas Floors Carpet One
Member - I apologize for the unpleasant experience that you had with my company, and totally understand your frustration. As the owner of Atlas Floors Carpet One, this is particularly upsetting to hear, because this company was built with a customer-first, serving philosophy. However, I do appreciate you bringing this to my attention so I could address the issue immediately with this particular employee. I now feel confident going forward that a situation like this will not occur again. The day I received notice from Angie’s List, I wanted to make sure I contacted you immediately. I’m sorry we were unable to speak at length at the time I called. I hope you received my letter as well. Please feel free to contact me directly with any future comments or questions. I worked with Sandy from the San Pedro store...from the very start she was very responsive. I emailed them through their website on Saturday to get a free measure, she contacted me the following Monday to schedule the in home estimate. She was very patient in working around my schedule and even came out on Labor Day to do the measuring. She provided her opinion and insight on what would look best in my rooms. I went to the store that afternoon and confirmed which tile I wanted and scheduled the service for 2 weeks out. The install was scheduled for 3 days because they weren't sure how long it would take to tear out the old Linoleum flooring I had. The installers arrived on time and got right to work, I liked the fact that they removed the furniture and appliances and toilet as I was not able to do that work. I also liked that they would remove the old flooring. Some companies will not and that was a key point for me as well. The installers worked late the first night until 8 pm, but they wanted to get the tile all laid I think so it could "set" over night. They were done and out of the house by 2 on the second day. They also put back all the appliances, furniture as well. Apparently they are not supposed to hook the appliances back up to the water supply but they did that for me and just had me confirm it was on their tight. I don't blame them for not hooking it up normally water damage can be a risk, but I appreciate that they did it for me. They do not reset the toilet( I understand the reason why too), but if you need it they have a local plumber they work with and the best part of that, they scheduled it and had them all set to come out that same afternoon. I didn't have to mess with scheduling another service provider to come over. Everyone I worked with was great and the price was within my budget. I LOVE the new flooring and I think it looks great. If I'm ever in the market for new flooring in another room, I will use Atlas. Thanks for a job well done.
Description of Work: I had new tile installed in my kitchen, laundry, 1/2 bath. They removed furniture, appliances, toilet and the old Linoleum flooring and replaced it with a diagonal lay tile.

I'm new to the SA area and decided to use Angie's List to find recommended/reputable contractors. I needed a complete redo of the flooring in the house that I bought. Ken Munir, was informative, poilite and gave me a great education about different flooring types, in the store. Wen we made an appointment for him to come to the house and prepare an estimate, he was prompt, professional and efficient. While the bid did not come in as low as another (for the same product), I would certainly consider Atlas Floors (and Ken Munir) again for another project and will gladly give his name and number out to anyone looking to get a bid - you never know, next time Atlas might be the less expensive one!
Description of Work: I needed to have tile, carpet and hardwood flooring removed from my house and new carpet and wood floors installed. Ken Munir, with Atlas Floors, educated me on the different types of each and then came out to my house to provide an estimate.

The installer, Jesse was very meticlious and particular about how it looked. For my next job, I hope I get Jesse and his helper again, and I will request him. He takes pride in his work.
Description of Work: Eric with Atlas Flooring was very nice, helpful and he knows his product. I used Atlas Flooring on Braun and 1604 which was very close to my home. Eric came and measured, gave me estimate and when I said I couldn't afford that he told me about another product. Originally I was just doing my living room floor but with second estimate I did: entry way, living room, dining room and kitchen. The floor installer was awesome! Jesse knows his stuff and I feel that he can be called a master in his profession.

Their salesperson was incredibly helpful, informative, and followed up well. We are very happy with what they did, and I would recommend Atlas to others.
Description of Work: Atlas Floors installed new carpeting and granite tile in our home.
They worked with me on color and cost. They made sure I knew each step of the process and what it would cost. They allowed me to do some of the prep work myself in order to lower my cost. They recommended appropriate products for my situation and if I selected a product they didn't think would work, they explained why it would be better to choose something else. SO friendly and helpful. The first repair/remodel crews I've had in for work that I didn't have to have them come back and fix something they didn't do right the first time. VERY happy with Atlas. I am having them come do my kitchen backsplash, too. I've been working with their awesome designer, Sandy. She has really listened to what I want and what my style is.

Member – Thank you so much for your business! We really appreciate the kind words and positive rating for our company! I did, however, want to make sure to address the fistfight you mentioned. I wanted to assure everyone that this kind of behavior is far from the norm, and we have a zero tolerance policy for fighting. In fact, all of our installers and their helpers undergo a background check before we ever send them out to a customer’s home. I also would like to mention that the crew in question is no longer working for us. We feel very fortunate to have what we feel is the best group of floor covering installers in the city. We even back up their work with a Lifetime Installation Warranty! Thanks again Member… We hope to do business with you again in the future! - Bill

To make it very clear from the start, this report is not about the company Atlas Floors, not about the estimator Ron, not about the project manager Veronica, not about the installation manager Steve. This report is about the install crew ONLY sent by Atlas Floors - Carpet One 1604@ Braun location. Several years ago we had a different company install Engineered wood flooring in our living room, dining room and hallway. The floors still look fine and beautiful and we were looking into getting the rest of the rooms done. With the project manager we were able to find the exact same brand match to the existing floor, get a competitive price and set the install date. The crew arrived on the first day, stored the material in the garage and started removing the existing carpet. They were cutting it into strips and taking them outside. Turned out, there was tile underneath and more mess followed. Our hallway is long and narrow and we stored some furniture that we took out of the rooms in order to limit even block the foot traffic in the hallway, but only through the living room. Needless to say, the workers somehow managed to squeeze and walk back and forth in the hallway, across the living room, in and out, slamming our newly replaced front door, spreading debris and old black glue from the tile they were removing, all over my beautiful (existing) wood floor. Point: The crew failed to adequately protect the existing wood flooring on the first day by not placing protective material on the pathways to the work sites (until we had to specifically ask them to do so). They left behind soiled walls and chipped painted surface. In order to level lower spots, they had to mix and pour subfloor leveling compound on the slab which delayed the install process with one whole day. But that's not my complain. Point: The crew damaged a hose nozzle while preparing the mixture and failed to bring it to our attention. The crew left mixture drops and debris on the driveway while cleaning their buckets at the end of the job. To sum it up: while the quality of the installation of the new flooring was to our satisfaction, the crew carelessness to our home, inside and outside, was highly unacceptable and unappreciated. Despite the initial disappointment with the negligence of the install crew, we were truly impressed with the Company's president Mr. Mahone and his sincere concern and willingness to follow through. His professionalism was exceptional and we'd like to believe that what we experienced was just an isolated incident. We were assured that the incident will serve as " an opportunity to further train our crews and better our company."
Description of Work: Replace existing wall-to-wall carpet with Engineered wood flooring approximately 420 SF.

They had a lot of good ideas. They were concerned about the various aspects of the flooring that we were worried about. I was very impressed. They took a lot of times looking for things that would work with our house and our needs. They have us a number of samples. We didn't make an appointment; we just walked in. This company has also saved me money in the past. The business has had the same owner for the length of time that I've been using them, and they have always been great.

The carpet and tile installation were great and fine. They were accommodating and able to work within our time frame. The individual they chose to refinish our floors got behind schedule, showed up late, was on a tight deadline and not easy to work with on the stain choice. He left some things undone and we still need to get him back out to get some things finished.

They really treated me as a person and not as a customer. The salesperson was nice and just excellent; she was over and above. They really went the extra mile. Their prices were in line with other companies. They did an excellent job matching my cement stain floors. The man that did the tile work did an excellent job. However, the man that was doing this work had to go off to another job and so the tile was then installed by another worker. The new worker was an A installer, just not an A+++ installer like the first one. We did have to wait for them to reorder some additional materials. Even these didn't really bother me. It was overall a great experience and I would defiantly use them again. They even came back out to redo a little minor items. I would defiantly recommend them to others.
Description of Work: They installed a backslash in my kitchen and a bar that attaches to my kitchen. They also did a backslash in my bathroom where all three rooms tie together. I had the same stone and tile for all three rooms and did the same design.

We were happy with the outcome, but unhappy with delays. We ordered the flooring in early October, and were told that it would be installed before a reunion we were having later that month. We were then told that there was a problem on the supply end, and that the shipment was delayed. We did not receive our flooring until November. We are happy with the floors, though.
