Great service

We exchanged several emails and he called me Saturday. I needed 2 window screens replaced and he told me he would need to take it to a window place and order them, but I thought it was too complicated.

Dave had previously scheduled a gate repair for my fence. It went very well. We decided to use this company to modify our kitchen cabinets in order to replace our microwave and single oven with a double oven, replace our electric cook top with a gass cook top, and replace the vent hood with an over the cook top microwave. Rich and Paul did a great job, were very professional and the outcome is absolutely wonderful. They also identified issues with the existing carpentry and repaired them. I'm very happy with the job and will use them again.

Rich, Juan, and Paul arrived right on time and worked efficiently throughout (split over two days). No music blaring -- just got to work. Courteous, personable, and cleaned up after selves. Also, I appreciated the owner (in the initial walk-through for estimate), cautioning me against taking on too much if I was thinking of selling my house: to wait for what an inspector might have to say, and that other items, if any, could be part of buyer/seller negotiation. (I had mentioned selling as a possibility and was wondering how much I should take on. The improvements I ended up having done were ones I had long contemplated just for my own benefit, but also won't be question marks for a potential buyer.) I had no problems leaving them to work in the house while I made a trip to Lowe's to pick up items for them to use (I had purchased some wrong ones). Also, the owner (David) was pretty prompt with his estimate and responding to email. In addition, he stated his reputation is important (I could tell he was pleased that I used Angie's List to select his company), and that he uses full-time employees. Those are good signs. I would definitely use Alamo City Handymen again.

I needed some work done on my old house, to get my new DW and Refrigerator in...and asked for an estimate on a couple other small things...they missed the first appointment, but since it was around Christmas, I understood and once I reached them we rescheduled, they were really nice, and made the next appointment. I told them that I had appliances that couldn't be delivered (after the first try) until (because of a previous owners REALLY BAD DIY) I needed someone to (1) put in a shut off valve for my refrigerator water line (I wanted a recessed valve), and (2) cut out my old DW, take it out, make sure there was an outlet ( and put one in if needed), tile the floor underneath the DW space to meet the height of my kitchen floor, and some work on a fence. After calling a couple times, they called back with an estimate that didn't meet what I asked for (recessed shut off valve for the water line), and then when they said they would get back...they never did... I kept asking if they could do it, since other contractors told me they couldn't even get me on their books until later, and they assured me they could...They didn't...I had to return all my appliances that I bought on sale over the holidays and start over looking for new contractors...and once I get new contractors then I have to wait for another sale on my appliances... Very disappointed...

Then two guys on his crew worked on the drain pain and the walls of the shower. They worked efficiently and occasionally asked for my input on how I wanted the finishing details on the tile. I felt comfortable with them working in my home. My new shower looks great and I would certainly use Alamo City Handy Men again.

After leaving a message on the 11th, David called me back that same day and came over to discuss what I needed done. He sent me an estimate the next day and scheduled the work for that Friday. The work was finished today. The work looks wonderful, the price was fair and the workers were very professional. I was expecting dust everywhere but I think my rooms were cleaner after they were done. I'm already planning to have other jobs done by David and his staff.

.I was in contact with David Palomo. I kept asking to schedule the work and all he would tell me is when his people were not available, not when they were available to do the work. He did not want to do the work I guess since he had already been paid and was very unprofessional about responding to requests for service. I would not recommend anyone consider this company for handyman service.

I talked to the owner David, and Rich the one that would be doing the work. The work was done in a timely manner. Even though they had a lot of work at other jobs. I like the fact that I was contacted when they would be at the house to work. I had left keys to the house with them. I am glad that I hired Alamo City Handymen. They would even clean up after they were done for the day. Was impressed with the work that was done.

He showed up when he said he would, and he did his work in a timely manner. Very pleased with the work David did, and I will use him again in the future when needed.

We were very pleased with David and his crew. The quality of the work was good. We were pleased with the overall quality combined with the service and their intent to make it right & to not leave until we were satisfied with everything. They did a couple of things for us.

When I called, David Palomo answered the phone. I told him what I needed done and why. He told me they were in the neighborhood and would come by within 25-45 minutes. They arrived within the stated time frame. David and manager Rich came by. They explained my options for my repairs. I could see my wife felt much more comfortable with Rich's recommendation of replacing the door with totally new jams and a steel security strike plate. We went that route. Rich and another man (Paul) came back with the materials for replacing a new door. Rich and Paul did an excellent job with the door replacement and were done by 4:00 p.m. plus they cleaned-up afterwards. I have had people (not Angie's List people) do work at my house in past and not clean-up afterwards. We shall always be grateful for the job Alamo City Handy Men did and the comfort that was given my wife. She definitely had a better night's sleep 6/17/2013. Thank you David, Rich and Paul.

Job was performed promptly and overall excellent service; David Palomo is very polite, helpful and conscientious.

David came out to gave us a free estimate. Within two days he and his crew returned to fix the gate. They are very professional, and did the superb job. I know who to call for the next time.

They were very professional. As a matter of fact they asked a lot of appropriate questions and clarified a few things to me that I hadn’t brought up. He noted that his rates will be probably higher than the others but not the highest and he was right. I am impressed. He has followed up by asking if we had made a decision. He expressed the willingness to work with us. It was a matter of a little bit here and there that he would work with us to see how he might be able to make it more affordable. We have no other quotes so we don’t know if his price is over the top or reasonable. He was on the dot on responsiveness.

Work was performed in a professional manner with excellent outcome.

The morning the new mirror was to be installed I got a call informing me that the owner, who had intended to install the mirror himself, had been admitted to the hospital with appendicitis. ahis employees were able to do some job shifting or re-scheduling and were able to intall the mirror two days after the original date. I really appreciate the effort they went to so that I would not have to wait until the owner was recovered.

David and crew were always on time. The quality of work was superb. They went above and beyond my expectations. They only wanted perfection in their final product. They never settled for less than that. They worked hard and finished their work when promised. I would recommend them to my best friend for all his handyman needs. Everything.

Alamo City Handymen arrived when expected, had their materials and tools, set up their work area in carport and started their work. By early afternoon everything was finished except the carpentry painting. The carpenter and painter came the following day, hung plastic everywhere to protect from over-spray and completed the job. I was VERY pleased. Their clean-up was exemplary. I was told up front they were not the cheapest (nor the most expensive) but my job could not have been done better. I feel the job was worth every penny.

My mother had a bad experience with a different contractor she had found on her own and was very upset. She had to live with shoddy work for a while. We found Alamo City Handymen and met with David Palomo; he is a true professional. He and his crew provided us with an accurate estimate and we hired him to fix the mistakes made by this other contractor. They were always punctual, and very conscience of always keeping a clean work environment, which really impressed my mother. During the process we discovered some conditions which really needed to be corrected. David made us aware of the situation and we agreed to have the additional repairs made at a reasonable price. My mother is very proud of the work completed in her kitchen and is excited to have friends over again. I highly recommend Alamo City Handymen and suggest that you call them to bid on your next project!

I supplied the ceiling fan and they bought and installed the patio roofing. The electrical work to set up for the ceiling fan was well done. The material they bought for the patio roofing was good quality and well installed in a timely manner. I will be calling on them for all of my handyman work.

I cannot say enough good things about Dave and his crew. They were on time and often worked a little later then normal. They were polite and cleaned up their mess. We had two separate patio covers installed in our back yard. These were attached to the roof so as to look as if they were built when the home was (1976). Not only did they do an excellent job, but they also kept us informed the entire time on possible changes or hiccups. After having quite a few contractors out to give us an estimate, Dave seemed to be the one who understood us the most and had one of the best prices. I would highly recommend him and his crew. Do not hesitate to contact him. He will work with you and your needs to fit your budget.

They knew it was an insurance job because they were friends with the guy who did the plumbing, so they inflated the price exponentially. They wanted $400 dollars to finish putting in baseboards in one room. I even already had the material.
