This was a very good experience. I will use Tex-Perts again when I have HVAC needs. Both technicians were very professional and courteous. Everything was explained to me with terms and examples that I was easily able to understand. Upon arrival, the technician found my AC unit to not be working, he immediately contacted his supervisor because my unit is pretty old, who arrived within 10 minutes. They quickly assessed the situation and explained the problem to me. They had the part in one of their vehicles and the repair was made immediately. Once the unit was operational again, the tune-up was continued and completed successfully. I appreciated the other recommendations they made during the tune-up - I never felt pressured to purchase additional services or a new unit like some other HVAC companies seem to always be making. They understood the importance of maintaining my current unit as long as possible. I have only had to use the AC a couple of times since the tune-up, but it is working perfectly. Thank you Tex-Perts!
Description of Work: I purchased the "24-Point A/C Tune-up, Includes One Pound of Refrigerant" for $55 special. Scheduling was very easy, I was given a window of 2 hours for the appointment, and was contacted prior to arrival of the technician. During the inspection of my unit, it was found to have a part that was no longer working and needed to be replaced.

Overall the service call went well. Arrived on time. Introduced himself. I directed him to the A/C closet. He began work. Made recommendation regarding the size of the filter I had available to install. It was too small. He wrote down the correct size on a permanent location on an A/C label...which I appreciate. He asked for the location of the outside unit. Checked it out. Commented the unit is very clean and in good condition. Completed paperwork. Thanked me for my business. Politely, without any pressure, explained to me his company's maintenance contract service...just for information. Bid me a Good Day and went on to his next appointment...
Description of Work: Multi checkpoint preventive maintenance inspection of central air conditioning both inside and outside units. Thorough inspection; no corrective actions necessary.

Answering service responded promptly, were friendly, and relayed my message to the technician. He called within 30 minutes, told me he had one customer ahead of me, and to allow him 2 hours. Like clockwork, he arrived on time. He met me at the unit and walked me through the possible problems and had me observe while he tested the unit. He finished the work within 30-45 minutes. Prompt, courteous, and professional. This was our second excellent experience.

The service was not performed due to aggressive sales techniques and justifying a 25% higher price due to "background checks".
Description of Work: I was hoping to hire this company to replace an entire AC/Heating system for me. I was so disappointed with both the price and the way the man who I spoke to on a couple of occasions tried to coerce me to use TexPerts. First of all, I really start to doubt a company when they spend a bit of time telling me how bad the competition is and justify their 25+% more cost by saying that they run background checks and don't hire criminals like the competition does. And then proceed to tell me this again the next time they talk to me. I don't think a company has to talk down about another to show customers that they give quality service. Either way, I don't think doing a few background checks a year justifies a 25% increase to each customer. I will never use a company with such underhanded selling techniques. I did have the other company give me an estimate, and they knew I was also checking with Texperts, and unlike Texperts, they didn't talk bad about them. Oh, and I save a grand.

This customer was referred to my company by a very happy customer who has referred several other customers. She was/is selling her home. I asked her point blank if she was looking to buy the least expensive unit possible or looking for something more long term for the future owner. At the time she told me she wanted to buy something that was well built. I designed a system for her that was an upper end Trane 15 seer discontinued item for a little over $5000. She has a 5 ton air conditioning system which is the largest residential size. The unit she bought from the cheap box company may have been a Trane but it was not the same model number. I called her to follow up about her install at the time frame I promised her. She told me she was going with another company. I asked her why. This is always a good business practice to follow to make sure we are providing the best service possible. I was told the name of the company she had chosen and she asked why we were more expensive. I began by telling her that my company uses a different type of technician than the company in question. It is well known in my industry that the company that she hired uses people that I cannot hire due to my standards of who I would let into my own home. I only had a chance to mention the difference in type of employee before she hung up on me. She has neglected to include that she had gotten multiple quotes and that the other quotes were also higher than the company she scheduled to do the work. I find it bothersome that anyone would complain about pricing when comparing two different products and services. There is a reason that the price was higher. It is as simple as that is what she asked me to provide to her. The company cheaper than us will always be cheaper than us. They were written up in the penalty box by Angie's List just this last month. They have had more than one manufacturer tell them they are no longer allowed to sell their product due to numerous complaints. As they responded to the complaint in last months magazine it only takes them about 3 hours to install a new air conditioning system. That is not enough time to legally reclaim refrigerant, install and modify the duct work, properly pressure test and vacuum the system. I refuse to lower my standards of quality to sell boxes that I know will not work just because it will become the problem of someone else. As far as high pressure techniques go, I visited with her, took measurements and then emailed her quote several days later because she was in no hurry. I followed up 2 weeks later at the appointed time. There was no high pressure, just what she considered a high price. Again from the moment the appointment was scheduled I asked her what she was looking for. She was adamant that it was quality not price. If she would have been truthful I would have offered her something less expensive in another brand.

Okay, but never again with this company.
Description of Work: Based on reviews I'd read on Angie's List we decided to use this company to charge up our AC unit with freon. The office person booking the appointment was very nice. I told her about the prices I'd seen advertised on AL but she said I didn't qualify for those. I figured the cost of the recharge couldn't be much more so decided to go ahead and book them. The technician came the next day - was suppose to be at our house around 4:30 but didn't make it until closer to six o'clock. He opened the shell of the unit and told me it was low on gas - which we knew. He then told me he would add what was needed and I told him that was fine. He then said that because we are part of AL (members) we would get a discount on the gas/pound. In the end he charged us $129 per pound; said it would normally cost $145 per pound. We were shocked at this price and the amount of the bill. Now here is the bad part. About three weeks later my neighbor asked me if I would be getting my unit serviced before summer. I told him I already did. He asked who we used and I told him. Then he told me he used a guy who advertises in our HOA newsletter. I asked him how much he paid per pound for gas (the same gas we use) and he said $45 per pound. Okay, my bad. We were ripped off by using this AC company and I'm not very happy with AL for believing this was a good company. Thank you.

I had an appointment time between 11am and 1pm. I got home and had missed their call to confirm I was home at 10:30a.m so they came out later in the afternoon. All the work was completed within an hour. The employee was courteous and friendly. He explained everything to me. I will use them again and I trust them.

Our tech came out and completed all the work. He was very knowledgable about our A/C, it's age, predicted life, and how to maintain it. He showed me how to take the A/C apart, what he was doing, why he was doing it. I felt like I was being taught how to do it myself. Of course, I wouldn't do it myself, not when I can pay a kind, helpful expert to do it for under $60. Tex-Perts is our go-to A/C company.

When they came for the estimate, they were on time and professional, the quote was in line with many, cheaper than companies just out to make money, a little more than a few start-ups. On the day the work was to be done, they should up on time and worked hard, cleaned up after themselves. The aluminum over the tubing had to be bent at two 45 degree angles (I don't care for the way it looks), they sealed the openings they had to open to run the tubing. Overall, a good job, I would hire them again (hope I never need to). The quote was what I paid and I received a 10% discount for being an angie's list member.

I am glad that everything went as planned for your project. I understand that it is difficult to move all of the copper tubing and wiring externally and have it look exactly like you would want it to. Thank you again for your business.

Overall, I'm glad I had it done.
Description of Work: I wasn't home to see the service, but I called and asked my wife what was going on. I had to argue a little with the technician. Part of the service was to add up to one pound of refrigerant. It was late afternoon, and I don't think he wanted to take the time. He did do it.

I would like this homeowner to call me about this issue. No one should every have to "argue a little" with one of my technicians. The service call was efficient. The technician was on time, performed the tune-up in a reasonable amount of time, and then went on his way. The company kept track of our purchase through Angie's List--all I had to do was sign that it was completed. Great experience.
Description of Work: We purchased the AC Tune-Up offer posted on Angie's List. The office representative was patient in my making and changing the appointment, was quick to respond, and was able to accommodate the scheduling through email--huge plus! The technician was courteous, punctual, professional, and the most impressive thing was instead of making up some bogus repair that had to be done (as some company's might have) the technician reported are AC was running amazingly well--such a great thing to hear!

Wonderful! Ray Johnson came out to provide an evaluation, recommendation and estimate. He was very professional and informative, and gave me his undivided time to answer all my questions rather than rushing through the appointment. I feel that the price of services is comparable to a previous pest control service I had, and this company provides better customer service so to me, it is a better value. The serviceman, Joe, that came out yesterday to treat my house and lawn was very nice and personable, and was also happy to take his time in answering my questions and providing information. He was very thorough and pointed out access holes around windows, around my mantle, etc. that need to be sealed to prevent entry of pests. Since I just got the service yesterday, I cannot yet comment on the effectiveness of the pest prevention, but I assume it will be just as good as the company customer service. I am happy with this company and will continue to use them for ongoing maintenance services.
Description of Work: I had the initial pest control services performed (interior and exterior). Have an ongoing agreement for repeat maintenance service calls every 60 days. Pest control services for me include prevention of roaches, spiders, ants, etc., and also an add-on service to prevent ticks and fleas in the yard.

On 10 Apr 2013, my wife called the Tex-Perts office to confirm the 11 Apr 1000-1200 appointment and to ensure the serviceman called my wife on her cell when he was on the way/arrived our home to ensure the most efficient use of everyone?s time. The office staff member at Tex-Perts confirmed the appointment and also assured my wife the serviceman would call her on her cell phone. A little after noon, my wife called back Tex-Perts to check on the serviceman?s status. The staff member informed my wife that the serviceman had already came by and no one answered the door. My wife requested a follow-up service call and again requested the serviceman call her on her cell phone when he was on the way/arrived our home. I came home that evening at 5pm. Around 530pm my wife opened the front door, and there was a Tex-Perts business card in the door. DO: call the customer when requested. If the serviceman would have called my wife on her cell phone, as requested twice, wasted time for the serviceman and my wife and me would have been prevented. Also, the serviceman and my wife and me would not have gotten frustrated. I then called Tex-Perts back to reschedule the service call. On 15 Apr 2013, the "service" manager called back my wife and informed her that in order for them to make another service call we would have to pay $49 extra for travel costs. My wife informed the manager that she had requested that the serviceman call her when he was on the way/arrived our home and that she was home all day. She assured him that she did not hear anyone knock on the door: 1) when she was home from 1000-1200 and 2) even when I was home with her after 5pm that evening. Also, when anyone is at the door, our dog ALWAYS goes to the door to alert us. She did not alert her or us either time the serviceman arrived. My wife then asked the ?service? manager if they have other service calls in the Schertz/Cibolo area. He said ?yes.? She asked him if they have other service calls why would we have to pay an extra $49 for ?travel costs.? She requested they come to a ?win win? arrangement (ie schedule a follow up service call and the serviceman ACTUALLY call her cell phone to inform her that he is on the way/at our home and prevent frustration and customer service failure for Tex-Perts). He then proceeded to become rude and did not give her an opportunity to talk, as he was talking over her. He was unapologetic for his serviceman?s part in not calling my wife on her cell phone, as she had requested two times. He told her to do both of them a favor and to just request a refund via Angie?s List. He arrogantly stated ?we are really busy right now? and basically conveyed they are doing so well that they don?t have time for us; they can take our business or leave it. I finished the conversation by informing the ?service? manager that I will recommend that my friends and colleagues to never do business w/ Tex-Perts. DO NOT: be unapologetic and rude and arrogant when addressing a customer. My wife called me very upset and frustrated because she tried to explain to the service manager that she was home all day and had made 2 requests for the serviceman call her on her cell phone which NEVER happened. I called and spoke to the ?service? manager. I am the Director of Ops for a successful and historical restaurant on the Riverwalk and am also a key advocate and coordinator for several local San Antonio charities. If one of my employees would have addressed a customer or a client as the ?service? manager addressed me, I would terminate their employment or charity affiliation immediately. My conversation with the ?service? manager was as unproductive and lacking in customer service as my wife?s conversation. He said that we were not home and that at first they forgot to call my wife, then changed his story and said that they did call her. Bottomline: he did not care about helping us, and all I was seeking was that Tex-Perts fulfill the service obligation that we paid for via Angie?s List. After the ?service? manager was not willing to help us, I requested the owner (Craig) call me. On 16 Apr, the owner called me. Craig (the owner) was professional albeit shortsighted when it comes to customer service. He blindly took the side of his ?service? manager and serviceman and informed me the serviceman ?banged? on the door for 20 minutes at my home. Craig also stated it was company policy to charge us the additional $49. I replied, ?well, you are the owner; you can waive that fee. I am not looking for anything free; I am just requesting the service that we paid for.? Craig replied, ?this won?t be a good working relationship, so just go apply for the refund.? Applying for the refund is yet another inconvenience and time vampire for my wife and me with regard to our dealings w/ Tex-Perts. There have been others: 1. my wife lost a full day waiting for Tex-Perts to call and complete the service. Of course, both events NEVER occurred. PLEASE NOTE that my wife only has 14 days of RnR and must return to the AOR/Middle East, so each of her days at home is both scarce and precious. THIS FACT IS PERHAPS one of the biggest frustrations especially when dealing w/ the LOUSY customer service of Tex-Perts (at all levels). Kudos to the female office staff; she was very helpful and understanding. 2. there was a 4 day delay between the original service call appointment 11 Apr and 15 Apr (when the ?service? manager informed my wife ?to just get a refund.?, 3. there was a 1 day delay between 15 Apr and 16 Apr, when I was able to talk to the owner 4. in total, there are 6 days of time wasted in which we have not received the service for which we paid for and must now find an alternate and much more customer friendly business to assist us, which in relation to Tex-Perts, shouldn?t be that hard to do. We can see why some customers will take their business to larger, corporate businesses as opposed to local businesses like Tex-Perts because corporate businesses will see the big picture and take care of their customers instead of just seeing the nickles and dimes. We believe Tex-Perts may be the victims of their own busy ?success.? We hope Angie?s List will grant us our refund. We plan to take our business elsewhere. Because we respect Angie?s List and have used the services of other businesses, we found it our responsibility to provide this feedback for Angie?s List customers.
Description of Work: Tex-Perts are NOT experts in Customer Service. My wife and I have a combined 55 years in the customer service industry. While on a 365-day deployment to the Middle East, my wife, a 20-year service member, received an Angie’s List deal email for Tex-Perts (AC unit service). She purchased the deal on 16 Mar 2013 and made the appointment (11 Apr 2013 from 1000-1200) when she was still deployed to coincide with the 2 week period she would be home for military RnR. The services were never performed by Tex-Perts.

I will stick to the facts of what transpired as opposed to belaboring that the customer is an active duty military member and trying to invoke some sort of sympathetic plea that we wronged her. Note that she is not the one posting the review even though she is an educated and decorated officer in the U. S. A. F. I am a veteran myself and find it sickening that her service is brought into the picture. The wife made an appointment which we took. We called before dispatching the technician to their home. We were told they would be there. We arrived. They have a note on their door that the door bell does not work. We knocked loudly several times for 20 minutes and did not get an answer. We called from the office and did not get an answer on her phone. We were not given a second phone number to call. My office sent the technician to the next scheduled appointment so that we could keep our appointment with the next paying customer who is also entitled to have their service rendered on time. We did leave the door tagged to so that they knew we had been there. The dog that always comes to the door must have missed this since the husband clearly states that the door was tagged. How on earth did we magically put the card there? I am positive we put it there by actually being at the house. We received a call later in the day from the wife, she said "I am home now", indicating that she was not home earlier. We rescheduled for another time. We did this at no charge. The day of the appointment and at the time of rescheduling she acknowledged that there is an issue with their door bell. We called the morning of the second appointment to confirm. She said "I will be home all day, if you do not get an answer on my phone send the technician anyhow." We did exactly that and the same scene transpired. I cannot be responsible for their broken door bell, their inattentive dogs or their answering of their phones. It was so important to them that they did not call us during the appointment time on either occasion to confirm or wonder where the technician was. They were told point blank that they could and would receive a refund from Angie's List. They paid for a coupon online and we could not refund their money. I was told and so were my employee's that we were being mean to a military member. I spoke with the husband personally. I tried am empathetic but not stupid. He told me he owns a million dollar restaurant down town. I asked him what he would do if i ordered a table for 20 people at 8 pm and did not show up. I told him I assumed he would make the table available to others after some period of time if he could not reach me. He reluctantly agreed and again tried to throw his wife's service in my face. He told me he was much more upset than his wife. His wife has still not contacted me and will most likely never contact me. There is no dispute that the technician was dispatched to their home and arrived. I informed him that we have a gps report and phone records to which he told me those aren't accurate. After a very lengthy conversation in which I believe he hung up on me three times, I informed him that this was not going to be a good working relationship. I do not believe that he would accept my technicians report about any problems their air conditioning systems may have. I was kind and respectful to him which is a blatant contrast as to how my employees were treated by him. His lengthy diatribe of slander is very contradictory and a waste of my time and to anyone reading it. I was informed of his written complaint sooner than normal due to another customer writing their own happy review saw it before I did. He has belligerent and bullying throughout the whole process. I would be grateful to learn which historic restaurant he owns so that I could pull up reviews on his amazing customer service or experience it for myself. If he would have been kinder and more professional I may very well have waived the fee to come out for a third time to their home, regardless of the wasted hours of manpower, fuel and phone calls that were made. It staggers me that he continues on and on about the inconvenience we have caused him by doing our best to accommodate him and yet still wants my company to come out just not for the additional trip fee. Waiving the trip charge would suddenly make him feel better. Suddenly my company again would be wonderful to work with. What am I supposed to do when they don't show up for a third appointment? Anyone reading this who would like more information can feel free to call me at 210-599-1200 at the office or my cell phone at 210-772-5911. It is taking me over an hour to write this and try to keep my emotions from boiling over because some napoleonic person thinks it is acceptable to waste the time of my company on more than one occasion and then demand the right to have it happen again. If there were a legitimate reason for them missing their appointment we would have been willing to reschedule for a third time even. This is the most frustrating review that I have ever had to respond to. My company is a middle sized business. I do not need nor want his judgement about being a victim of my own success. We have hundreds of reviews here and elsewhere which contradict his. We are more accommodating than any company I have ever dealt with in my life, this includes my years of service, running a national corporation and other local businesses. He is a petulant child that was told he couldn't have his way and threw a temper tantrum.

The company called this morning in advance of their technician arriving. The tech, Andy, showed up on time and got right to work. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing and performed the multitude of tasks, cleaning, testing, inspecting of our A/C systems. He answered all questions and comported himself in a very professional manner. He was knowledgeable of offers which his company provides concerning maintenance and repair and left a legible service record of his test results. Based upon this experience I would recommend Tex-Perts for A/C systems work.
Description of Work: Used the BIG DEAL offer for A/C Tune-up and inspection as described on Angie's.

Contacted Tex-perts via Angieslist. I was called and scheduled for an appointment. Edgar, the tech, was great to work with. Very professional and curtious. After confirming the need of the repair that I received from another company, he suggested he clean the coils IN PLACE with coil cleaner, which was a lot less expensive. Edgar also washed out and cleaned the drain which was clogged. He also checked the capacitator for the blower which reads not exactly as it should. However, due to financial restraints I decided to take my chances at least for the time being and have the coil work done now.
Description of Work: Requested second opinion to cinfirm or deny the need for quoted expensive repair of A/C.

Horrible experience, horrible customer service after the sale. I dread having to deal with this company for the next 10 years that my warranty is in affect.
Description of Work: Tex-perts HVAC sold a total Trane furnance and AC replacement system to us in March 2013. Craig, the owner was very responsive and spent quality time with us explaining the product, the benefits, the pricing and answering all of our questions. He assured us that he would be involved in the entire installation process. The unit was installed the next day and Craig never made a appearance during the installation. The techicians were punctual and on time, however they left my home with a large black stain on my carpet in front of the HVAC cabinet and they had cracked and broken off the trim around the cabinet installing the new unit. I attempted to contact Craig numerous times, and he did not respond. Finally after several calls and many texts, we received a response that he would be at our home to see the damage that had been done. Also, let me note that his technicians did not say a word about the damage they had caused. He cames to home at 8pm in the evening and inspected the damage and assured us that it would be handled. 3 days later I received a call at 5:15pm that one of his installation techinicans was on his way to take care of the stain in my carpet. WHAT? Why not a carpet cleaning company? And why was I not informed of the appointment time? Once again I attemped to contact Craig and did receive a response. 2 days later I received a call from the main office stating that I should call them to coordinate the appointments to have these issues resolved. However my husband and I had been told by Craig that he would handling this matter personally! It is my opinion that Craig only handles the $$$$$$ and after the sale, he is not concerned. So after 1 1/2 weeks of this large black spot on my carpet, I used an extractor and removed the stain myself. The trim on my cbainet is still broken and there has been no attempot by anyone to come and repiar this. Then last week, I requested a technician come and check out the ACunit because the air that is blowing out of this $11,500 unit is not even cold. Anthony informed me that he would be back on Friday to recharge the unit and fix the problem. Wrong again! I had to call the office on Sunday and leave a message that Anthony did not show. I am so frustrated with this company, I can not even put in to words how disappointed I am. I truly thought by reading the other reviews that we had finally found an honest, reliable HVAC company but that is most definately not the case. As soon as they had received their payment, we were no longer a concern :0(

Craig from Tex-perts came out to do an estimate for replacing our furnace and HVAC system. He was very prompt, courteous, and professional. He explained things thoroughly and was responsive to our questions. He also thought about our individual HVAC needs and tailored the bid to our needs, rather than selling us the most expensive system. We accepted his bid and his crew were able to come out in a couple of days to install the system. His installers were also very prompt and were able to complete the installation in one day. We had a minor issue when we went to use the furnace for the first time and Tex-perts sent someone out immediately to rectify the problem. We have no complaints with the service we received from Tex-perts and would recommend them.
