EXCELLENT SERVICE. Scheduled appointment, received a courtesy call the morning of that "Jessie" was on his way out and should arrive in 30 minutes, which he did. He walked me through each of the steps of what the was doing, and at what levels each component should be operating at. He is a true professional who represents the company well! Will definitely use them (and recommend them) again!

Earlier in the month December 2013 I had called Tex-Perts for a what turned out to be a minor fix on my A/C unit. A capacitor had gone bad and was replaced also included in the service call was a overall ac check of the system. The technician did not have the time to do it during the weekend shift due to a backup of service calls. so I scheduled the service for the following week. I knew my machine was living in borrowed time and sure enough the technician discovered a freon leak by the compressor. Unfortunately I had an older unit that used R-12 freon and its extremely expensive. The price for everything was about 1/3 of the way to a new AC unit with air handler. I decided to change out the whole unit and I am glad I did. The work was scheduled for the following week and what professionalism was displayed during the entire install. The technicians laid down carpet protection(who does that?} in the stairwell since the air handler was on the 2nd floor, They worked quickly yet efficiently and the they even took time to explain how to use the new thermostat. What a difference the house temperature in winter and now summer. Thanks again for a job well done!

I tried calling a few AC repair vendors listed here at Angie's List. Tex-Perts was the first to return my calls for help. (Some vendors have still not called to see what my stated emergency was.) Edgar spoke with me over the phone and helped me determine what the problem likely was. He came to our home the next morning and unblocked our dip-drains for both AC units located in the attic. He let me watch and was very friendly about the whole thing. Edgar was great. If ever we need AC work in the future we're calling Tex-Perts first. They have an affordable maintenance plan that sounds good, too. I think we're going to use that service so that we don't run into future clogs.
Description of Work: Tex-Perts responded to an emergency with our home AC unit. The primary drain had clogged and the drip pan was allowing water to spill over, dripping through our ceiling to the floor near our home-office computer equipment.

Technician was nice, on time and fixed the problem however, once he found out it was a bad capacitor I asked if I could just buy the part myself and replace it. He said you have to be a licensed HVAC person to buy a capacitor. After googling around it seems as though you can buy this cheap part on the internet without being licensed. He said there was a law passed so non licensed people could not buy them. Seemed like BS to me. At that point I had the option to pay $79 for just the service call and diagnostic with no work being done or pay $270 for him to replace this super cheap part. I went ahead and had it replaced just for time sake.
Description of Work: AC wasn't blowing cold air. Technician found out it was just a blown capacitor (roughly $20 part). He replaced it. Quick fix.

After getting three bids from different companies, I selected Tex-Perts because they had the best price for the combination of features I wanted. They also had many great reviews on Angie?s List and were rated ?A? with the BBB. The system I selected had a 16 SEER/13 EER energy efficiency rating, which qualifies for a nice $600+ rebate from CPS on my electric bill. It also featured a variable speed motor on the inside unit, which provides several added benefits: it is much quieter, it keeps the humidity significantly lower in the house thereby increasing the comfort level, and it further improves energy efficiency. The crew arrived promptly and began work removing my old system and installing the new one. Once they got the new outside unit in place, I noticed the big yellow EnergyGuide sticker on the side that said 14.5 (the SEER rating). I immediately asked the crew about this, because I was paying for a 16 SEER system (more expensive than 14.5 SEER and saves more money on energy costs for years to come). They explained that even though the outside unit (compressor) by itself was rated as 14.5 SEER, when combined with the furnace and coil components in the inside unit, the overall system would be 16 SEER. I was skeptical. What is the purpose of the government-required EnergyGuide sticker if it is not a true representation of the SEER rating ? how else can you know what you are getting? So, I went inside and began researching online while the crew continued the installation. Initially, I found conflicting information on discussion boards about whether it was possible to achieve a higher system SEER rating by the match-up of particular components. I then went to the manufacturer?s website (Daikin) and found the specs manual for the specific model of compressor (outside unit) they were installing. The manual contained a lengthy list of all possible combinations of furnaces and coils that could be matched up with that model of compressor. Some of the combinations were in fact 16 SEER, but the specific model numbers for the components they were installing in my house were a 14.5 SEER system. I emailed the Daikin customer relations department from their website and they confirmed the 14.5 SEER rating and emailed me the AHRI certificate. AHRI is the HVAC trade association that certifies the SEER ratings for air conditioning systems. The AHRI Certificate is essentially the bible of A/C energy ratings. So I called Craig, the owner of Tex-Perts, and told him what I had found. He was surprised, but not defensive, and said he would get in touch with his Daikin rep. right away and get back to me. He had ordered the equipment himself and was sure that he had chosen a 16 SEER match-up of components. In the meantime, he said they would finish the installation so I would have air conditioning while the issue was resolved. Craig followed up with me just over one business day later and said there had been some change to the series number on the coil and that it actually was a 16 SEER system. I emailed him the AHRI certificate showing my exact model numbers and the 14.5 rating. I told him if there had been a change to the series number, I would need the updated AHRI certificate reflecting that change, or he would need to install different components that would make it a 16 SEER system. Craig stated that he would make the situation right and followed-up with his Daikin rep. again. He reported back to me that they would need to install a different furnace and coil to get the 16 SEER rating, so we scheduled the re-install. I also asked him to email me the AHRI certificate for the new combination of components he would be installing, so I could confirm the SEER rating, and he did. On the morning of the re-install, one member of the two-man crew arrived and quickly received a call from his co-worker that the new equipment they would be installing was not at the warehouse as expected and they would need to reschedule. On the newly scheduled day, Tex-Perts arrived (different crew than the initial installation), and I confirmed the equipment model numbers against the AHRI certificate. All was well ? it was 16 SEER. So, they proceeded to remove the brand new furnace and coil that had been installed two weeks prior and put in these new ones. By the end of the day, the new system was in and working. I immediately noticed it was much louder than the previous 14.5 SEER system. I was not happy about this because the variable speed furnace ? for which I was paying more ? was supposed to make the inside unit very quiet. But, the house was hot from having no a/c during the installation all day, so I thought maybe the system was just working extra hard to cool the house down. After a while, it became clear that this unit was either 100% on (and very loud) or off ? it was not variable speed. The house was also noticeably less comfortable, because this new system did not have the humidity-reducing benefits of the variable speed unit originally installed. I could not believe I had been through two installations, and it still wasn?t right. So, I called Craig again the next morning. He went back to his Daikin rep. again. I was right ? it was not a variable speed system. After a couple of days, Craig called me back with a proposed resolution. They would do yet another installation, this time Daikin was providing an upgraded system (18 SEER, with a two-stage compressor), apparently to compensate for the tremendous hassle of all of this. So we scheduled the THIRD installation. Once again, I obtained the AHRI certificate in advance and compared it to the equipment when the crew first arrived. The coil model number did not match! I called Craig yet again. He sent me another AHRI Certificate for the correct model numbers, and the SEER was 18 as promised. So the third and final installation was completed. I am happy with the new system - very happy, actually. But, this ordeal was very frustrating and stressful, not to mention time-consuming. According to Craig, the manufacturer was at fault for these mistakes because they repeatedly provided him with incorrect information. Daikin is relatively new to the residential A/C market, and they clearly have some operational problems to work out. Even so, I think Tex-Perts should have paid more attention to detail to catch these issues before they resulted in THREE major system installations. I must acknowledge that Craig said from the beginning that he would make this right, and he was true to his word. I appreciate this. Mistakes happen ? even multiple mistakes ? but a company?s willingness to make the situation right is important and revealing. The fact that they gave me a substantial upgrade to compensate for the mistakes did leave me feeling this was resolved well (and the upgrade will save me money on electric bills for years to come). Additionally, Craig and all of the Tex-Perts staff were professional and friendly and never became defensive. I especially liked Mike and Phillip, the crew who did the first and third installations - I could tell they had a lot of experience and knowledge, they were diligent in their work, and were very friendly and open-handed in responding to my questions. The fact remains, however, that I would have gotten a lesser A/C system than what I paid for had I not questioned things and spent a lot of time and energy doing research to be able to identify the mistakes. The customer should not be in the position of having to become an expert in order to get what they were promised. It is a reminder that being an informed consumer is essential, especially when you are spending a large sum of money. Question anything that doesn?t look or sound right, and do your homework!

I needed a new A/C and Tex-Pert installed my new unit. I had a very good experience. As a single woman I did not want to feel like I had been over charged or that the unit was not working correctly. It was installed three years ago and I am still very pleased with Tex-Pert. They do my semi-annually maintenance and I still feel they are always honest with me. I have not had any issues and will continue to use them for all my A/C and heating needs.

This company was wonderful to work with. Everyone I spoke to on the phone was very friendly, and the technician arrived right when they said he would. He was very friendly and did a great job of explaining to me what the problem was and all of the costs associated with fixing it. He had the part that we needed in his truck, so it only took him about 15 minutes to repair the AC unit, which was a huge relief to me since it was almost 100 degrees. I used a coupon that I found on Angie's List, so the service call was free ($75 value) and I just had to pay for the part. I definitely recommend this company.

Juan checked all components inside and outside, testing with gauges and cleaning. He cleaned with pressurized air and dust cloth in the inside, cleaned coils outside with water-hose. Because I have been having foundation work and remodeling, I had been concerned about the interior coils and had changed my air filters more frequently...Juan doubled checked coils. He also answered multiple questions as I followed him while he worked; he listened well and was very straightforward, respectful and informative in his answers. Outside, he noted a part that, by sight, could potentially give problems, when he tested with the gauge, he showed me that it was working as it should. I asked for a quote to replace if and when it breaks, which he gave. My system is working fine, but is older. We discussed a variety of brands. I asked for a bid to replace everything, giving me a ballpark figure to be aware of to budget for the future. He asked me what features/expectations I was looking for, and did not try to oversell. I have used Texperts several years and always find the Technicians to be well informed, polite and give no pressure to fix or buy...just the facts. They are highly recommended.

It went very well. He gave me some pointers on how to maintain the unit effectively without extra purchases, plus telling me where I could find the specialty sized filters for it. He gave me options without pressure sales, and I appreciate that. When we did end up having a part that was toast, he showed me what it did, why it mattered, and then gave me space and time to make a phone call and talk it over before making the decision to replace it. Our electric bill decreased after the work he performed, with no other modifications to our behavior or settings for electrical usage. I would use them again.
Description of Work: The provider did exactly what was outlined in the coupon, plus replacing a faulty part on our unit. I'm sure that we could have done it ourselves for far cheaper, but that's always the way it works. I was willing to pay the cost to have a professional take care of it.
