Miguel said AC had too much refrigerant in the system. He vented it and left. Soon the house was 83 degrees. Stayed hot all evening. Went to bed andstill over 8o degrees. never ever gotten over 80 in the house. not even in San Antonio infamous over 100 degree weather. I had a stroke several years ago and it is hard to regulate my body temperature so by Saturday afternoon when it was again 82 or more in the house I called tex-parts. Spoke to Jesse. Rude. Said he would come check AC but if Miguel did nothing wrong then he would charge me $80! Not hard to imagine what his verdict would be. He just got ruder when I said I wouldn't pay again. He said go ahead and report me to Angie's list or better business bureau or texas consumer protection. Really! And it's not even really hot outside, it's only 92 outside. I don't think I would trust these people again and I will do as Jesse suggested and file complaints with BBB and against their license as well

Two days before I called Tex Perts, our usual AC service provider came out to service the unit. He said the system was freezing and backing up in the duct causing damage. He recommended replacing the "heat absorption" systems, renewing the cooling system and installing flood protection. The price for this ranged from $8000.00 to $3600, based on either 5 years or 3 years of maintenance being included. Today, when we came home, it was leaking much worse. We call the usual guy (see above) but he didn't respond so we called Tex Perts at 7pm on a Friday night. Jesse answered the phone and told me he'd be over in 35 min. and he was. He looked over the system, found a few minor issues which he corrected. He verified the system was working, repaired leaky hoses and gave a thorough explanation of why it wasn't working right. He stayed with us until it was fixed, leaving just before 10pm. Cost $99.00. Jesse also told us we didn't have a "heat absorption" unit and he had no idea what the other guy was trying to sell us. Nor do we have a pinhole crack in our coil. We will be giving Tex Perts our business from now on. Thank you Jesse for coming so quickly and for your honest, straightforward approach to helping customers.

We are currently using ABC for pest control and they are fine. They seem to be doing the job. We were having a problem with ants which is why we initially started with them several years ago. We get a regular bill. They seem to be pretty responsive. They seem to do what we ask them to do and it seems to be working. I guess basically they are doing the job. They come during the day when we are not there and there is not like a set time.
Description of Work: They come out quarterly and they are due again next week. They do the exterior general spraying. The carpenter ants were inside and so they spray the outside of the house around the house itself.

Due to all the rain San Antonio was having, the appointment had to be rescheduled a few times. The tech that was sent out flushed the line on the inside portion of the house. He did not check the outside unit of the house. When I mentioned that it was making a noise, he assumed something was loose but did not investigate further. On June 30, our AC quit working in the house. Did not know if it is bad timing or if it could have been avoided by a more thorough investigation.
Description of Work: Tex Pert came out to do an AC evaluation check on the inside of the house as well as the outside of the house

Total time to repair: 3 months Based on their A rating with Angie?s list I called a Textperts this past January 26th, 2015 to begin repairs on my 2nd HVAC unit which was not cooling. Text perts sent a technician promptly who performed various tests and ultimately suggested we had a Freon leak but that a formal leak test would need to be performed as he could not localize it to either the pump or the unit. He also sold me a maintenance package in order to get a free Freon allotment when my system was ultimately recharged $210. This last part seemed dubious but I?ve come to find the sale of these programs at first blush is common. A leak test is performed (cost $450) and the technician confirms that the copper pipes that are attached to my system are leaking and will require replacement at an estimated cost of $2200. I then asked where the leak was exactly and he said he didn?t know where the leak was and that they do not look for leaks unless they are readily visible and admitted the cost would be basically labor alone if said leak was found and repaired. I found the automatic replacement of pipes a ridiculous practice but thanked him and told him I would climb through my attic and find the leak myself and then call him back when I?d found it, which he accepted. Once I made the time to inspect every aspect of the piping (removed all insulation) and cut into a 10? sheet rock garage wall to investigat it was clear there was no leak (estimated 4-5 hours of my labor.) I called our technician back and was eventually scheduled for a repeat leak test which I was warned would be another $450. During the repeat leak test the technician notes that a leak is actually visible at the HVAC valve (at the pump) and that my pipes are not to blame. He waves the cost of the 2nd leak test charges me $35 for the call and states a part must be ordered and it could take a while. I explain to him then that I expect him or someone from their service to cover my completely functional pipes back up and repair my sheet rock which he acknowledges I?m likely due but he will need to ?talk to someone about that.? Several months later (4/28/2015 ...I'm pretty sure they forgot about me as the valve was in when I called to check so many weeks later) a different technician returns to replace the hvac valve and charge the system at a cost of $1257. When I ask this technician who will recover my pipes and fix my sheetrock he basically says he doesn?t know and that all he knows is it won?t be him. So I got to spend another 4-5 hours and money out of my own pocket to purchase more foam insulation and cover my own pipes which is quite necesaary to prevent moisture accumulation in moisture sensitive walls. My A/C works fine and everyone at Tex perts I dealt with were friendly and courteous but I was left high and dry by these guys plain and simple? What irritates me even more is that I SAVED them money?sure they waived the second leak test at $450 but there never should have been a leak test performed to begin with let alone two of them given a leak was ultimately visible within the pump/pump valve. Had they replaced my pipes at a cost to me they would have certainly had to comp the subsequent $1257 once it had been realized the new pipes didn?t fix the problem. I asked the second technician to bring this up with management and that I should at least be compensated for sheetrock repairs and all those wonderful moments crawling through my attic to some degree and I have not heard from them ?.that was over 6 weeks ago.

Our visit was a little outside the time window but we did get a courtesy call from them to let us know he was running late. He really didn't show up too much later after the call. He explained what he was going to do for the visit. He cleaned out drain out and checked over the system. Our A/C was down approx. two pounds of 410a. One pound was covered under the checkup so we ended up paying 90.00 on top of that which was reasonable. George was very descriptive and easy to ask questions. The visit was less than an hour and our A/C is working perfect. Totally solved the issue of taking all night to get us down to temp. We couldn't be happier with the service. I felt George was very honest.

It took about a week to receive a call to set up the appointment, but that was not an issue for me. I had set up a late in the day appointment so I wouldn't have to miss work. Evidently there were several issues with other calls, so the technician was about 2-3 hours late. This is a very common thing in any service oriented business - think doctors office, haircuts, etc. Late in the day appointments typically run later. The technician was very professional and quick. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He explained what he had done, what we needed to do to maintain our system & let us know about our AC systems warranty. In four years of home ownership, this was the best AC experience we've had! Thank you!

Used their services due to a $39 furnace inspection special being advertised. Everything went well as far as the inspection goes, but nothing above and beyond. The tech, Jesse, was very courteous but not very apologetic given the circumstance. The thing that made the experience very frustrating, and almost not happen at all, was the fact that the technician showed up at 2:30 p.m. when I had an 11:00 a.m. appointment. The day of the appointment, I received a call from their office about 11:30 a.m. stating the technician was running about 30 minutes late due to another job taking longer than expected. I was fine with that but then 1:00 p.m. came up and went. Since I hadn't heard from their office or their technician, I called the Tex Perts office and received a "the number you are trying to call is no longer in service" message. I emailed the company through Angie's list and received an apology response the day after the service had been done. I was also told in the email response that their phones were down and that they could only dial out but not receive calls. I still believe that someone should've been abreast of their scheduled appointments, their techs and kept their customers updated on any unforeseen events. Keeping clients informed is paramount in any business as people usually have to shuffle their lives around or place them on hold in order to accommodate any appointments they make. In closing, I understand that things happen and the this company has very favorable ratings in Angie's List. However, due to this experience, I will most likely not use their services again. Just think about it,...companies usually penalize their clients/customers for making them wait using the "time is money" cliche'.

Updated Review: August 12 Since this review, ABC worked with us to resolve the issues. We have decided to continue using their mowing service, and we have been satisfied since changes were made. I changed the Ratings from D's and F's to C's across the board. I did not rate higher believe the majority of the issues could have been avoided with better communication before the initial cut and throughout the process. Previous Review: June 18 This review is just for the mowing department. I haven't had any problems with ABC at this point regarding pest control or lawn fertilization groups. The rep that initially came to review our lawn and provide us a quote was great - very professional and knowledgeable. I let him know that we just wanted to keep our grass healthy, and to mow at the appropriate height. At the time, we had been keeping our grass on the higher side because of all of the rain. He noted and said that healthy meant cutting no more than 1/3 of the grass. We have berumda grass, but it seems to be the most temperamental grass. Fast forward after scheduling our first appointment. I noted that it wasn't the best date, and I wouldn't be home, but they assured me everything would be fine. No one called to follow-up on the first visit and our preferences, so I figured that they would only remove a 1/3 of the grass. My husband called when he got home and told me the grass had been buzz cut and was already looking very brown in several areas. I was out of town and didn't arrive home to see for myself until 4 days later, and oh my, it was sooooo short and very very brown in some spots. They also decided to weed eat to the ground around 3 of my trees in the backyard thinking I wanted a bed around them (keep in mind that there was originally grass all the way to the trees and no sign of a bed). My neighbor said he saw them mowing our yard and because parts of it are so small, the riding mowing was basically doing donuts to mow the small area grass - note that this is the area that is really brown. I was so disappointed. I immediately called ABC and the service rep apologized and told me the area manager would be contacting me. Shortly after the manager did contact me. He apologized and said that the information about our preferences should have been received by the agent that provided us a quote. He also proceeded to tell me that customers have different preferences (some short lawns others long, some wanted beds made around trees). He told me that he would comp the mow and that he would be out at the next mow to ensure our preferences were met. So I was somewhat satisfied, but still concerned about our grass dying. Yesterday was our scheduled day to mow. I stayed home, expecting someone to knock on the door. All of a sudden I hear lawn mowers in the yard. I run out there, and they were already cutting the lawn. I stopped them and attempted to talk with them about our preferences, but they spoke little to no English. I basically motioned and said to keep it high since there was obviously a language barrier, and I thought it would be difficult to discuss a decent height without it being scalped again. In additional they were on the riding mower of which had to have a wheel over on the neighbors side to mow down the property line. This concerned me considering the amount of damage the riding mower had already done to our yard. Our neighbors yard is pristine and I would feel horrible if their yard was damaged. I also tried to ask the workers if the area manager would be coming out soon, but because of the language barrier, couldn't tell. I came inside to let them finish and called ABC; the rep said she saw notes that he was coming out but couldn't tell me when, but gave me his cell number. Overall the mow was ok, but I think since our yard is so small that it would be healthier if it was push mowed. So after a couple hours waiting to see if the manager would ever stop by, I called him. He told me that he had been caught up with an auditor or something of the sort and assured me that the workers knew how my lawn needed to be cut. He also said that he came out to see our yard (although I never saw or met him). He noted that the workers today were not my regular lawn guys due to vacations, but assured me both groups knew/know how to mow my lawn now. Since my lawn is fairly small, I asked if they would use walk behind mowers so that they weren't swinging their tire into my neighbors yard and to reduce the number of turns that seem to have browned our lawn. First I find it unprofessional that he didn't notify me that he wouldn't be making it out yesterday. Second, we never discussed what was best for our lawn. All he knew was that I said it was buzz cut and scalped around the trees. Third, how was I supposed to know that he had communicated anything with the workers. In additional their invoices on the customer portal are confusing, and it's difficult to tell what is owed. Overall not horrible because I can call them, but I've seen better sites that handles multiple services and billing. My husbands work hours have changed and he wanted to ensure our lawn was taking care of, and now I'm just not sure we made the right choice. At this point I feel like we could have let a neighborhood kid mow our lawn. We probably would be saving money, and I'm not sure that cut would have been any worse. Giving them another chance because we haven't had any problems with the other services. I hope the patch of grass is able to rebound.
