Description of Work: I had my AC checked for $59. It included a pound of freon, and I know freon is expensive, so I bought the deal, but I ended up not needing any freon, so the selling point of the deal was pretty much wasted. I got a flyer from the company a couple of days later that offered the same service for $59 (without the freon) BUT you could get a dollar off, up to $10, for every can of food you donated. So I wish there had been some incentive for not needing the freon, since I could have gotten it for less.but it was still a good deal, the service was done within a week of purchase, and the technician was quick and thorough.

The technician performed the tune up properly. Having too much refrigerant works like having not enough refrigerant. The coupon purchased clearly stated that up to a pound of refrigerant would be added if needed. If at any time before hand the home owner would have let my company know that she was looking for a free pound of refrigerant and not a tune up we would have explained the coupon to her in even more detail. There is no legitimate reason for the grade given for this service call.

Description of Work: Technician came out and inspected our inside and outside units. He also advised us on how to increase the airflow in our master bedroom and took a look at our ductwork going into the master bedroom to make sure there were no obstructions.

Description of Work: Getting home at 4.30 pm on a Saturday afternoon after working outside in 100 degree heat to find the A/C not working and the inside of the house at 88 degrees- was not nice. I telephoned at least 3 companies one was an answering service, no-one called back, one had no one available and the other said they stop taking requests at 3.pm. on Saturdays. So, I turned to Angies List and found Tex-Perts.I was greeted by a pleasant woman who said she would get hold of a technician who would call me back. I had a phone call from the technician within about 20 mins. He asked what the problem was and said he would be with us within the hour - he was.George was very courteous, he found the problem, fixed it, put in a new capacitor, a start unit and gave the 15 year old A/C Unit outside a thorough cleaning as it was pretty clogged up with dirt ( we have only been at the property a couple of years and hadn't even thought about service to the Unit - duh). I am very pleased the with level of service and professionalism from Tex- Perts and actually took out a maintenance agreement with them, so I hopefully don't have probelms in the future. The price above includes the Maintenance services for the coming year. Thanks Tex-Perts

Description of Work: The gentleman was on time and inspected my unit, proceeded outside to check the unit, took it apart. The unit was inspected, cleaned and washed. No coolant was used even though my unit has not had any since I purchased it in 2000, I guess it did not need it. I will say that my unit is working wonderfully. Yes, I will use them again for the winter check up. Thanks for your recommendation through your booklet.

Description of Work: Our first floor was not cooling down as well as it had before. We found out we out a part was going (motor) and we were low on freon. Juan checked and found out the part was still under warranty and took a $680 part down to $280. He handled the warranty info for us. He could have easily not checked to see if the part was still warranted. Thank you! Have signed up for the maintenance agreement.

Description of Work: I am disappointed in the owners' reply. Essentially, he is blaming the homeowner, either for being cheap and/or not smart enough to understand the information relayed by the technician. The owner did call me to discuss the complaint but he believes it's a "he said she said" situation and that even if his technician had gone into the attic to check the unit, there is no guarantee that the problem resulting in the water spot on my ceiling would have been detected. Additionally, the situation is now moot, because I've "hired" another company to rectify the situation.

Description of Work: One room in our residence was not cooling. When the technician arrived 07/14/2012, he inquired about the location of the two AC/heating units in the home. Afterwards he determined which of the two units covered the downstairs and which one covered the upstairs of the home. He then checked the vents and one of the aforementioned units (located in a "storage closet" inside the home) the other unit is located in the attic, which he did not "check." The technician wrote the following on the receipt we received at the end of the job "Found unit low on freon, checked temp split all rooms had 7 degree split. Added 4lbs (unintelligible) freon, recommened leak search. Customer will call home warranty company for further repairs needed." At the time we were satisfied with the service provided. On Thursday 07/19/2012 I arrived home and notice water spots on my ceiling near the vicinity if not underneath the AC/heating unit in my attic. A relative of mine went into the attic and observed water underneath or around the unit and said a section of the duct work was damped and very likely had to be replaced. On Friday 07/20/2012 the water spots became larger and leaked water onto our carpet. Our complaint against TEX-PERTS is that the technician did not "check" the AC/heat unit in the attic, which might have revealed the water gathering/pooling around the unit and perhaps alerted us to an apparent issue, before it reached its current stage (water spots and leak). For this reason, we've decided to call another AC/heating company for service and at this time cannot give TEX-PERTS a favorable rating.

The service technician found the air conditioning system to be very low on refrigerant. The owner paid to have the refrigerant added. The technician recommended that a leak search be done and the homeowner declined because of a home warranty. If the homeowner would have listened to the technicians recommendation he would have gone into the attic for that system. If the unit froze up several days after my technician was there because of a refrigerant issue that we were trying to correct we cannot assume any liability for the actual cause of the problem. As the owner stated they had no problem with what the technician did at the time of the work. As for the owner's appearant confusion about the amount of refrigerant, the technicians try to explain what the readings mean. If for any reason that any customer does not get an explanation that they feel comfortable with they only need to call the office and ask for myself Craig Tuffelmire or the service manager. I will be calling the owner to inspect the home if he will let me. We do not work with any home warranty company at this time. We find that they only want to band aid problems instead of fixing them.

Description of Work: I got the BIg Deal, and thy didn't do everything it said--though I have not challenged them on it. They did not vacuum out the return plenum but wasn't a big deal to me. Overall, I needed a checkup and clean the condenser so it was a good price for me.

Description of Work: My air conditioning unit stopped working (as it has several times in the past). It is an older unit and when I have called other places they always want to sell me a new unit that costs me a minimum of 5000-8000 dollars. That is just not something I'm interested in doing right now due to the cost. What I needed was for someone to fix my AC unit without trying to upsell me to something I cannot afford at this time. I called Texperts due to their great ratings here on Angie's List. I was out of town visiting family when this happened and Texperts were able to take care of everything for me over the phone. I had a friend there at the house to let them in and oversee the work. They were there within 2 hours of being phoned. That was awesome! They never even suggested that I buy a new air conditioning unit. They simply assessed the problem and fixed it. THAT is what I wanted. If I want to be sold something, I will call a salesperson. I really was very impressed that they did not try to sell me anything. They seemed very genuine and honest. The technician had to leave in the middle to go get another part. The office called me to let me know he was on his way there. I called my friend so she could get back to the house and let him in. The technician did not show up for another 2 hours. This was the only part of the experience that was negative. When I called the office to find out where the technician was, the office person informed me he was on his way but had to come from very far away and that was why it was taking so long. It would have been nice if she had called me when the technician was close to the house or at least informed me he would be coming from 2 hours away so my friend didn't rush back over there thinking he was going to be there. However, the overall experience was so great that I would still use them again. I believe going through them saved me a ton of money.

Description of Work: We returned to our home after a long vacation (ie: long airplane flights, no sleep the night before, exhausted) and our home was hovering around the 95 degree mark due to the break down of our A/C unit while we were gone. We were literally sweating inside the house, and there was no way we were going to get any sleep in such a hot house. It was 8:30 on a Friday night and we called two A/C providers that we used in the past to no avail; no one could come out and help us. We have gone to a hotel in previous situations, and we also had two A/C window units packed up in the garage from previous break downs, so we took those out of the boxes and put them in two bedroom windows but seriously they are small and don't do much for my large house. At least my young son was able to hole up in his small room but we needed to get this A/C fixed ASAP. We saw Tex-Perts Ad in the phone book and they came out right away, he was here within an hour. The technician (George Damian) knew almost immediately the problem and went right to our outdoor unit and gave us a quote to replace the coil and install a starter kit which will help our unit not suck up so much power upon start up which was taxing the unit. The whole cost was $450 which is reasonable seeing as I have paid way more in the past to get my A/C started again in the middle of the hot summer after hours. By 10:30 or 11PM our house was cooling down and my family was able to go to bed comfortably, our exhausted vacation home travel ending in a good nights sleep!. Thank you Tex-Perts!

Identified the problem and had me back up and running in a short amount of time. The techician explained my options and made recommendations that were not necessarily the most expensive.
