They came out within an hour (called at 7 p.m.), quickly diagnosed the problem, gave me an estimate, cleaned the drain and installed a port for access. Gave me maintenance advice so the problem doesn't occur again. Technician Andy was polite and efficient.

I was using another company, but I'm unemployed and I saw an advertisement for $49 or $59 service from Tex-Perts Cooling & Heating. The name of the guy who came out was Edgar Garcia and I followed him throughout the whole process and asked a lot questions and he answered them. He told me that things were okay now, but I might want to think about doing things in the future. He was just very nice and informative and I was very satisfied. I couldn't do a contract with him now, but when I get a job I will most definitely use them. I had a little trouble because the lady who took the appointment said she'd call me 20 minutes before he came and she didn't. I don't think it was his fault, but I do think it was the companies fault. It wasn't a big deal, but I told her I have two dogs and needed to position them before he came to the door. The first day they didn't come out and I called her and she said that they had an emergency and that they had to fix it. I was totally fine with that and I told them that I understood because I have air conditioning and somebody else didn't and they needed to fix it, but they could have called me.

Edgar, the service technician, performed an overall checkup on two A/C units. I found him to be very knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Not only did he perform the tune-up but he also showed me how to watch for signs that might indicate a potential cooling problem with the unit. I asked him several specific questions which he was not only able to answer but explain it to me in a language a woman can understand :). And not only was he knowledgeable but he was also patient and courteous as well. I will definitely use Tex-Perts in the future!!

see details previously cited. Jon Wayne misdiagnosed overall problem and referred us to electrician to fix electrical box. Electrician said prob was something grounding inside outside a/c unit, which was also diagnosis by Lowes rep and TEXPERTS who told us they offered free 2nd opinions. TEXPERTS actually demonstrated proof of which part was malfunctioning and offered to repair or replace only that part. Since the unit has been malfunctioning 3yrs in a row EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ONLY 7 yrs old, we asked for and received a quote to replace both inside and outside units as well as do ductwork replacement and attic insulation installation. When Craig did walk thru a few days after units & ductwork were installed, he found a few things not done to his expectations, and he got crews back early Sunday morning to re-do/finish up to his expectations. We have been VERY PLEASED with entire TEXPERTS staff & experience.
Description of Work: Replaced outside and attic units with larger more efficient 3 ton, 15 SEER AMANA units with heat pump added. Also replaced ductwork at less than 1/2price quoted last summer by Jon Wayne rep when old unit failed last summer. We were on premier maintenance plan with Jon Wayne so we called them Memorial Day weekend when our a/c went out. Jon Wayne tech told us something in outside unit was shorted out & charged $250 to replace that part, which didn't fix a/c. Then JW tech said prob was not with a/c but was in electrical box due to fuses kept burning out. He told us we needed an electrician to come fix our problem. We hired electrician who told us box was NOT the problem and told us what he suspected prob was. We decided replace electrical just in case it was a contributing factor. Then we got estimate/suggestion of problem from 2other a/c firms, both of which agreed what problem was! The TEXPERTS tech even showed my husband how he could prove where the problem was using bypass wires and predicting when new fuses would blow. We were very impressed by TEXPERTS tech and the policy of having all replacements suggested reviewed by the owner/ CEO personally before a price was quoted. TEXPERTS could have repaired outside unit but since we'd had probe every year for last 3 years, we opted to replace to get new warranty and better SEER. TEXPERTS also arranged for someone they contract with to come provide more &better insulation in our attic. That work is scheduled to be done in next 2weeks. As of now, Jon Wayne has NOT had a manager return our calls despite promises to do so. We think Jon Wayne needs to know what happened and why we went to TEXPERTS INSTEAD.

I spoke with this customer on Thursday pm. He insisted that it was an emergency and needed me out the next morning. I rearranged my schedule to be there to meet his needs. When I spoke with him on the phone he let me know that the home had two air conditioning systems and I gave him a ballpark price. I stated that units start off around $5,000 and can be as high as $14,000 per system depending on make, model, warranty and efficiency. When I arrived at his home I was immediately pelted with questions contradicting the previous conversation I had with him. He made it very clear during my inspection that he was in the construction business and had many contacts that would allow the work to be done for a cheaper price. I explained to him that my company does not employ the same labor as most new construction projects. After using me to get as much information as he could about the current installation we sat down at his table to discuss technology and pricing. He has two heat pump systems and he wanted both replaced with at least 15 seer systems with variable speed motors inside. Before discussing brands I told him that each system would start off around $8,000 including ductwork modifications and several code issues that he had. The customer became very irate and told me I was trying to rip him off. I explained that this price range was discussed the day before and should not come as a surprise. He told me that he could buy the equipment from a "friend" and that he could have some "illegals" install the equipment for half of what I would charge him. I told the owner if that is what he felt comfortable with that is what he should do. He then tried to convince me that he could send "work" my way. I explained to him in no uncertain terms that I am unwilling to do anything illegal or questionable. I told him that I wished him good luck and that I was going to leave his home. He followed me to my truck and continued to harass me. I told him that our conversation was done and that I would not be sending him a quote. He told me that I had to send him a price and I again declined. There was no work performed at this customers home. As far as me quoting him a ridiculous price I never got that far. I gave him a range and I stand by my pricing being competetive, while maintaining the hightest level of service and labor practices. Anyone can scroll through the reviews on this website and review what other customers have spent and see that the average cost for replacing two systems would be between $14,000 to $18,000. This doesn't even account for the other problems that existed at his home. I do not make it a practice of arguing with our customers. I did not ask the homeowner to follow me to my truck. I left willingly and of my own accord. He was upset that he couldn't bully me like he does his subcontractors. I do not work on a "favor" or "buddy" system. We do not discount our work based upon imaginary future referrals. If the home owner would care to post a copy of my "outrageous" pricing I would be happy to view it since it doesn't exist. We provide service for a fair price. Sometimes we are higher and sometimes we are lower than other bids. I have no control over what other companies charge and I have no desire to. I do monitor prices on a regular basis and I believe us to be about 10% lower than the median price in San Antonio.

TexPerts sent technician Andy who was very courteous & reassured me that neither of my concerns were a problem.So after this honest free estimate, I would up spending ZERO ! Technician even reviewed & explained how to best use our A/C controls. How often can you find any service provider this honest ??????? If I ever have any problems with my A/C - heating unit in the future , guess who I'll be calling ?

Showed up 3 hours late but they did call twice to let me know. Once that they were going to run late and then again when they were actually on the way. Not a big deal it was nice to know they were running late so I could do other things instead of sit around wondering. Leak Test was simple and quick. He was able to show me right away where the issue was. Overall I felt it was good service as expected, friendly staff and up front.

Overall this experience was a nightmare! On Friday May 25th my A/C unit blew a fitting that fed the cooling agent into the cooliing coils. I then checked with Angie's List to see who I might call for this repair. It APPEARED that Tex-Perts had a good reputation from all the written testemonials. I called and the service manager came out to assess the problem. When he came out I told him that his company seemed to have a good reputation on Angie's List and that is why I called them.He looked at the unit and told me what the problem was and also stataed that the cooling coil was only two years old and under warranty. He also stated that the labor cost for replacing the unit would be about $800-$900. The total cost of replacing the unit and repairing the air mix box was $1370. I signed the service agreement and paid him a $35 service fee. He then told me that because of the Memorial Day holiday they might not be able to repair it until Tuesday but hopefully on Monday. As it turns out they came today, Tuesday May 29, 2012. In the interim I discovered that there was a 15% coupon for Angie's List members on service provided and no service fee if repair was done. Even though I was told the technician would be here first thing in the morning he did not show up until shortly after 2 PM. When he was finished he presented me with the bill of $1370. I then showed him the coupon for a 15% discount. He called his boss about this and then told me that the $1370 was the price with the 15% coupon included. I showed him the service agreement and nowhere did it state anything about the discount. He then said "well they discussed this back at the shop and this price included the discount". Again I reitereated that nowhere was this in writing. I then wrote him a check for $1164.50. (I wasn't going to quibble about the $35 service fee.) The technician called his service manager and was told NOT to leave my premises until the full amount was paid. I then asked him to leave or I would call security to remove him. A few minutes later I recieve a call from the service manager berating me for not paying the full bill after signing it. I told him I discovered that Tex-Perts had offered a 15% coupon for Angie's List memberrs and I was taking advantage of it. About 30 minutes later I get a call from the owner (Craig, I believe that's his name) telling me that he had called the police and they would be at my front door in a few minutes to charge me with "theft of services". I tried to explain to him that if he was offering 15% coupons he needs to honor them. He again told me that it was already in the price quoted to me. But I pointed out to him that NOWHERE was that in writing in the service agreement. The police did come and I had to tell them the whole story. The technician was also there and coroborated all that I said. He did say he had instructions from Craig to come into my house and remove the coil and I would have to hire someone else to install a new coil. I respectfully declined to allow him in my house. The policeman said there was nothing he could do and I thanked him for his service In summary I would like to state that this company, Tex-Perts, is using the coupon as a "come-on". They do not honor it, they are devious, and do not tell the truth. I WARN ANYBODY NOT TO USE THIS COMPANY!

The customer called and received service on 5-26-2012. The home owner told my technician on the phone that he was an Angie's List customer. He was given his options by the technician and chose to have the coil replaced. The technician discussed all applicable discounts at this time. The coupon online is for 10 % off of equipment and 15 % off of repairs. Sadly this will be changing due to this incident. He signed the work order stating "signature below authorizes technician to perform indicated recommendation for the quoted price." He was told that the Carrier Corporation who manufactured his coil was not open but may possibly respond on Memorial Day. I personally spoke with the home owner on Memorial Day to let him know that there was no response from Carrier and that we would call him the following day after they opened up to let him know what time we would be out for service. At this time I again told him the price. On 5-29-2012 we called to let him know that we would be able to pick up the coil in the morning and that he would be the second replacement call for the technician who would be performing the work. The technician arrived at the home at 2:09pm. He let the owner know what he would be doing, the approximate length of time for the work and the price again. Only after the technician completed the change out of the evaporator coil did he ask for an additional discount. If there was truely a question about a coupon and not a clear intent to defraud my company I believe it would have been asked up front not after the technician had cleaned up. When my technician called to verfity that the discount had been applied. The owner became enraged and physically took the invoice away from my technician. He then wrote on the invoice "as an angie's list member I qualify for 15% discount of labor with no service charge." He wrote an additional discount of $205.50. His work was for equipment replacement not service to begin with. He then told my technician to leave immediately or he would have the security team physically remove him. My service manager called the owner to find out what was going on. The owner called me several derogatory names and physically threatened me at this time. He told my service manager that if he was not given what he wanted he would slander me on Angie's List. I then told my service technician at the house that the owner had three choices, he could pay his invoice ( a legally binding contract) in full, let us remove the coil and he could find someone else to do the work or have me file a theft of services report with the police department. As an at home service company I am legally obligated to do this before my technician leaves the home. I personally called him to explain these options to him again as a courtesy before the police arrived at his home. He again threatened me, yelled at me and told me that he would slander me on the internet. This is a matter of principle. I refuse to let anyone treat my technicians or any of my employees in this fashion. We strive to perform the best work possible at affordable prices. We work dilligently and in very uncomfortable conditions to help people. I have been a member of Angie's List personally for years. This is not a forum to be abused by unethical people. It is a place for home owners like myself to find a company to help with our needs. I stand by my reputation not just here but throughout our community as a company that people turn to for problem solving and great service. I am a reasonable person. We were voted contractor of the year because of our committment to excellence. I refused to let anyone bully me and my staff by the internet. I look forward to this issue being mediated by Angie's List.

I called and received same day service. The technician was very clear in his explanations of what was going wrong with my equipment. He was very honest about what mattered and what didn't really matter--as noted in the inspector's report. He was great!!!!!!
Description of Work: I purchased a HUD home, and during the home inspection, some questions were raised about the operation of the central a/c heating system. Turns out I needed a new starter for the condenser. Some of the wires had over-heated and melded together. Besides being a fire hazard, the unit was doomed to NOT make it through the summer.

It was a special that I had and it was very good. That was the only time that I had them. I really liked them because they were prompt. They answered my call and gave me an appointment very quickly. The gentlemen came in about fifteen minutes sooner than the appointment time which was wonderful because I really needed to get going. I thought he was very efficient and he answered all my questions. He found a couple of parts that I need to follow up on so I was very pleased. The price was very good. I have recommended them too.

The only minor problem was having to re-schedule our appointment but it was due to the weather. The office did call us the day of the appointment to inform us of a 30 minutes delay which again was minor. When George arrived, he went right to work. He explained everything he was doing and was so polite and knowledgable. We have a 4 year old unit in our 'new' home and have used the Airtron company installers for follow up maintenance. The Airtron techs who've come out were always rushed and brushed off our concerns about our unit. George however, was very patient and was eager to explain and answer all our questions. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone who has air conditioning concerns. Thank You Angie's List for the coupon --- we would have never found this company. And Thank You Tex-Perts for your very professional employees who are concerned about their customer's comfort.

AC went out two days prior to contacting Tex-Perts. Was working with another company but they left us hanging on a Saturday night. It was miserably hot and we began calling other AC companies in town and eventually connected with Tex-perts. They were responsive from the start. They returned our call in a short period of time and had a service person come out the very next morning and even offered to send someone out that evening. Upon inspection Sunday morning, although they recommended replacing the entire unit, they also offered us an affordable alternative but we realized it wouldn't solve the problem long term. The owner himself contacted us Sunday afternoon and after discussing the details with my husband even offered to have the unit installed that day. By 2pm the owner had personally delivered the new unit and their installation team was on their way. By 9pm everything was installed, cleaned, and in working order. The installation team worked hard, came in on their day off, and were extremely professional. It's evident this organization takes pride in what they do. .

The technician that came out was great. It took about five months to catch everything. This year has been different, and it is a different guy. My current one doesn't seem as reliable as my other technician, but the rats are gone. They were driving me and my dogs crazy. I saw them on TV and they said they specialized in it. He found the hole they were crawling in and he gave me some traps and caught them all. I think their price is high to renew every year but they work.

Overall great experience. The technician showed up on time and was very polite and professional. He found the freon was low and recharged the system. He took the time to explain what he was checking for and confirmed costs before starting the work. I would definitely use this company again.

I originally found this company via the big deals Angie's List provides. They were very prompt to respond for an appointment as well as the actual appointment date. They were running a little behind the morning of the appointment but called well ahead of time to let me know. I was very appreciative of this and they were only an hour behind. The technician was very professional and explained everything to me. He diagnosed a problem with my AC unit and explained everything to me in detail and in a way I could understand. He was able to make the repairs the same day and in the rain (it started to down pour while he was working). I was very impressed with him and would absolutely use this company and would definitely recommend them.

All work was performed on different days, as the company was very busy. This worked out very well. All workers did the required work, although a small portion of the sod used was lower quality and I am not sure it will survive. This doesn't matter though, as they provide a 1 year guarantee on it, the the area in question is small. The crew also ran out of sod and had to bring more the next day - I had no problem with that and thought it was excellent service that they would return soon. The company seemed upset but it was no big deal. The rocks look great and the front lawn looks much better after their work. 99% of the new sod looks fantastic. A word about the companies representative, Mark Novak. Absolutely the best I have seen. Made multiple visits to ensure things were right, told us all of the sod would be fine, and to call him immediately if there were problems. I haven't seen customer service like this in many years - he is by far the most dedicated, customer oriented, professional representative I have seen in the city. This is an extremely honest A++ company with very fair prices, high quality work, and stellar customer service.
Description of Work: White marble rocks were put in garden areas and around pool, and the front lawn was aerated and composted. New sod was put on the side yard and inside the back gate.

Great company! Everyone from the office staff to the technicians were professional, courteous, and educational. They were extremely flexible with my schedule and answered all my questions. I had three other companies come out to give an estimate and after signing with Tex-perts, I know I made the right choice. Bottom line, I truly felt like I was getting honest work and don't think I could've found a better company. Tex-perts rises to the top. Both on price and quality of labor.
Description of Work: Central A/C was not blowing cool air. Tex-perts came out for a tune-up and diagnosed the problem. They found the compressor had shorted to ground and determined the outside condenser would need to be replaced. After evaluating the options, I opted for a complete replacement of the central A/C (condenser and air handler).

I like the company but there is one guy that is the pits. I asked the head of that landscaping team to help me a couple of times last year. He was supposed to put in more stuff for me this spring and I remember contacting again last month and he did not call back even after four different times that I tried to contact him. As far as their lawn service is concerned, it is very good but I would stay clear of these other people. I would recommend avoiding Michael Stanley. It is a big company and they do several different things with the lawn, pest control and other things. I will use him for the lawn but I am getting somebody else to do all the landscaping for me. Their lawn service is just wonderful. This one guy is just impossible. He ignored me completely.
