AAA AUGER Plumbing Services

I called to get a quote on installation of a water softener that I had already purchased. Our home is not pre-plumbed. Of the 5-6 companies I called, they were the most expensive by several hundred dollars. The tech said that they could match prices in writing, but why quote such a high price to begin with. Will not use again.

Everything went fine. The bathtub was backed up and in order to clear this, they were going to have to go through the roof. Because of their liability, the company wasn't willing to do this. I had to talk to the manager first in order to let this company perform the work necessary.

We saved a little money by jack hammering part of our own sidewalk & they replaced & re-routed the line. We called several companies (a couple we got off of Angie's List) & they were a little less than AAA Auger but it was going to take them a lot longer to come out & fix our problem. AAA Auger is a little more expensive but we've had good service from them in the past (they installed new toilets that we purchased & fixed drain issues in the kitchen). I wish they had tidied up a little more before they left but overall was pleased with the job they did.

I ran into Doug Cross, president and CEO of AAA Auger, and described the problem with my toilet. He called his dispatch office, put me on the phone and we scheduled a time for the technician to come to my house. Just as they promised, they called on the way - at the right time. The technician arrived promptly, confirmed the issue, explained why this happened and set to work. The work was done in a reasonable time and the technician cleaned the bathroom! The whole repair took not quite two hours. I will definitely use this company again and refer others to them.

Response was almost immediate and the work was very professional. The est.of how much was spent covers both of the calls.

I didn't care for them much. They were more expensive than what they originally quoted. He was originally going to charge $130.00 and walked out when we said we wouldn't pay that, but then did honor a lower price. I wouldn't use them again in the future.

It was very good. We didn't have to worry about anything. They came in and measured the space. We told them what color we wanted and they went out and purchased the toilet for us. In about 2 1/2 hours they were done. They took the old unit with them, so there was nothing we had to get rid of.

They had to tunnel 23 feet under the house to get to the broken pipe. We were unhappy with their workers as they did not clean up after themselves, left wrappers in the yard, and tracked dirt into the house. They also installed a pump that they added to the initial estimate and I was not aware of this until I got the final bill for $1,400 more. I give them credit for fixing the leak but we were not that happy with them. Also, there was a deep hole in the backyard and since we had our grandchildren here some of the time we asked them to cover each night which they did not always do.

Situation: Upon coming home for hospital with my first born child, my wife and I both noticed the water pressure in our house was very weak. I walked around the house making sure everything was turned off and then checked the meter. The meter was spinning like crazy and I knew I had a problem. I figured there was probably a leak somewhere and crawled under the house to check it out. I found a large amount of water near the front of the house but could not determine where it came from. At this point, covered in mud and sweat, I figured the plumber was going to charge the same amount whether I figured it out or he did, so I threw in the towel, turned the water back on to shower, and then called the plumber? August 12, 2009 2:29 pm: Called AAA Auger 3:30 pm: AAA showed up to give an estimate. Without even climbing under the house, the individual sent by AAA said it would be approximately $197 just to give me estimate. This left we wondering what part of the ?Free Estimate? this was? He also gave an estimate of $160 to fix the clogged drain. 4:30 pm: AAA diagnosed the problem and said he would not charge me the previous $160 estimate but then stated it was going to be $670 to repair the pipe. He also mentioned he would need to remove a bush from the front of my house. At this point, no work was performed because the first individual had to wait on another guy to show up with the chainsaw. 6:00 pm: Update. AAA found a break in the pipe and concluded it could not be repaired. This was exactly what I expected. The estimate to repair a ~25ft section of pipe from street to house was $2200. This would include hand digging the old pipe out and replacing with new pipe through Live Oak Tree roots and across two lines of sprinklers. He also mentioned he would fix the slow drain for ?free?. Digging was to begin tomorrow the following ?between 9 and 10 am.? At this point, AAA left. We were left at home with a brand new baby and no water. August 13, 2009 10:49 am The 9 ? 10 am window passed with no AAA. At almost 11 am, they were still not at the house. I have no water, a brand new baby, and no one has showered or properly washed hands in 20 hours. 11:02 am I call AAA to see what is going on. The plumber said he was pulling the permit from Alamo Heights and he would be over to start within 30 minutes ?or so?. 12:19 pm Still no plumbers. Dirty dishes piling up in sink. We get ready to go to baby?s first doctor appointment; mother and father have not showered in 22 hours. Good times? 12:39 Nothing. No call, no update, nothing. I wonder sometimes if contractors do this on purpose to make you appreciate it more when it is fixed? We are leaving to go to the doctor. 1:00 pm My wife has had it and she calls AAA to ask whether we will have water when we return from the doctor?s or whether we should start looking into a hotel room for the night. The woman on the other end sounds alarmed that the workers are not there yet. She calls them and confirms they just showed up. 2:45 pm We are back from Doctor and work has begun. 3 guys and they have about 20? of trench done with about 5? left to go. 4:15 pm Looks like the digging crew has finished up. Now, we wait on the plumbers to return to lay the new pipe. 4:34 pm I get a call from AAA about how the city is shutting them down at 5 pm. This is not going to happen. I ask them if I get the deadline waived if they would come back. She assures me they will. I put a call into the permit office and get a voice mail. I call back and the woman forwards me to a cell phone of the permit guy. He tells me they need to stop work at 5 pm. I explain the situation (new baby at home, etc.) and get him to agree to let them work although they need to call him and explain what is left to complete. They must talk because according to the permit guy at the city, the workers did not show up until almost 11:00 a.m. to even get a permit. 5:15 pm The original guy AAA sent (who I had not seen all day) comes back to complete the job. He actually fixes the piping to my satisfaction. He gets the water back on and explains how he will come back tomorrow morning to complete the drain clean out and hook up something to the hot water heater as required by code. At this point he charges me the full amount of $2235. I am a bit worried about paying the entire amount before the job is complete, but feel I have no choice because at least we have water again. AAA says they will be here about 8:30 to start fixing the slow drain. August 14, 2009 9:27 am Nothing. 11:15 am Nothing. I decided to call the permit office and thank the guy for letting AAA work late to get the water turned back on. I also inquire about the next step in the process. He tells me they need to request an inspection and the requests need to be one day in advance. Awesome ? a giant hole in the front yard all weekend. I transfer back to the front desk to make sure they called an inspection request in and they had. I also inquired as to when the permit was issued for the work the day before. 10:48 am!!! I am here without water waiting to hand him $2200 and he does not show up until 10:48 am! And then the work did not start until after 1 pm! Anyway, I have water but I still need something installed on the hot water heater (to meet code) and I still need the slow drain cleaned out. 12:00 The plumber showed up to do the slow drain and expansion tank on the hot water heater. The work went well and he also ran the auger down the drain to clear the clog. He was here maybe 45 minutes and mentioned they would finish up the work on Monday. Maybe I can explore my grand canyon in my front yard over the weekend. August 17, 2009 At some point on Monday the guys did show up and filled in the hole in the front yard. I went out in the yard middle of the day and it was filled in although the rotten piece of pipe and several of the stakes for the caution tape were left laying in the yard. Several hours pass and no one has come to pick up any of the trash. I called AAA again to mention the trash and they did not seem very happy about it. Someone did come and pick up the trash later in the day. My last comment about the hole filling in process was the irrigation cover and how it sticks about 4 inches above the grade of the front yard. I did mention this to them although I did not really expect them to correct it. Conclusion: So, this is my experience with AAA Auger. Would I use them again? NO WAY! I would rather throw another dart into the phone book and take my chances. I?d take my chances on finding another service provider because I could not possibly have another experience as bad as this one?could I?

They are great! They always give me good service. They are a big plumbing company. The experience was fine. They were very careful about cleaning up after themselves. They took everything with them. Two guys came and did it as quickly as it should be done. I was very pleased with their work.

They did a good job. They showed up when they had to and I would recommend them. They were also courteous, but, a little expensive. When I called them, within an hour a man called me back and set up an appointment. They said they will be here in two hours and everything worked out well.

Called to schedule an appointment. They came out in a few hours and said they fixed the clog. One day later, the drains were backing up again. The plumber called the next day trying to sell us other services that he had pushed when he had come out the day before and we told him the clog was not fixed and he just said it wasn't guaranteed. We hired Tapout Plumbing to fix the problem and they paid less that half of what AAA Auger charged and they actually pulled out the clog! AAA Auger only said he guessed it was fixed because the water started draining out. It was a slow drain, so of course it was still draining out! Bad experience. This is the second bad experience with them.

Called AAA Auger as we had a leak around our water heater. Technician came out and gave us an estimate to repair at $400 plus we needed a new water heater. As it turned out, we had a leaky hose which cost us $14. Technician seemed more interested in selli a new water heater. We will NEVER use this company again.

I have been using them for the last two years. They are a little expensive, but they do a good job. They have been able to help me out on the same day that I called which is great and they do not charge extra for after hours.

The old flooring in the kitchen looked like an ugly dish washer to me. There were bubbles coming out of the slit in the flooring. The plumber checked and told me it was a water leak and they did not charge me for that. They send me coupons where I get a 10% off on the next job. They work to give the lowest price available for the job. They come out to do the job. They are very professional.

Overall the work was completed and the water heater seems to be working fine. My son thinks $987(actually paid $937 because of $50.00 discount) was too expensive. I have no way of knowing if this is true. I'm happy the leak is fixed and I have hot water again. I didn't have time to log on and check for a company on Angies list but asked about it when I called AAA and was told they were on Angies List.

They got the job done but I did not like the professionalism. The office staff was very professional but the plumber spoke to me very unprofessionally. He was too nosey in my business. They worked after hours to get the work done but the one faucet leaked the next day and I had to have them come out again. They say they give free estimates but they really don't. My plumbing was underneath the house and they charged me $150 to look underneath the house. At this point, I felt I had to hire them. I have a bad feeling about any plumber and think they charge too much for what they do.

The following week after their service visit, the sewer backed up and flooded the entire home causing a catastrophic event and thousands in damages. Insurance company sent another plumber out who also used camera to view line, found blockage and cleared it in 30 minutes. Blockage was a dead rodent in the line not due to roots or a breakage bad enough to cause the back-up on its own. Update: After filing a dissatisfaction report with this vendor, they provided me a full refund.

I've used this company, and will continue to use them. I called on a Thursday morning about wanting to replace my 11 year old water heater. Steve came out that morning and I had the new heater in before 2 pm. Their price was $200 below what I'd been quoted to replace it, including labor. However, once it was in, the hot water would run out quickly and not heat up much. I didn't get around to calling them until Saturday about it, and they bent over backwards to try to get someone over quickly. (I eventually told them it was no huge hurry and we scheduled the next visit for Monday morning.) The plumber came out first thing in the morning and quickly figured out that the upper thermostat was not working. He replaced it and urged me to call back and let them know if it was working correctly. It still didn't seem to be generating enough water, so Steve came back the next day (first thing in the morning again) and made some adjustments. It's working perfectly now, and I really appreciated their responsiveness, when they easily could have put it off as unimportant. It seemed obvious that they wanted me to be happy with their work.

They were prompt, efficient, professional, and polite. The price was very reasonable for plumbers and they didn't charge to come out. We would use them again. They even left us a ten dollars off coupon for their next visit.

They came within thirty minutes, so it was really great. They went over the bill with us before they started. They were very, prompt, professional, polite, and they cleaned up when they were finished.

They charged me $520 to just find the problem with their equipment and then they tried to charge us $7500 for work they said we need to have done.

Went very well. I phoned just after 7am. The receptionist was clear, crisp and direct and dispatched someone quickly. The workman arrived at the expected time and did the work. He gave me a price before doing the job. I have used them many times over the years and called them without even consulting Angie's List.

I called AAA Auger because we had been given good service on prior calls. I researched the type of water heater I wanted and specifically mentioned the manufacturer and model number when I placed the order for them to come to my house. The model I wanted was a premium model with a long warranty and had a self-cleaning feature. AAA Auger installed a lower model without consulting me. When I called them on it, they offered to try to find the model that I wanted, but offered cash rebate if I left things as they were. I took the rebate, but my trust in the company was tarnished because they did not inform me of what they were doing.

AAA Auger sent Harold the same day I called. He gave me a free estimate of the cost before starting work. His work was of high quality. He also found lime build up in the tank and rim holes, cleaned it with a professional grade cleaner and left some of it for me to clean my 3rd toilet. Carefully checked both toilets were working properly and not leaking before leaving. I have used AAA Auger for many years and always have had excellent service at a competitive price (having got 2 other estimates on the first 2 jobs). The charge this time seemed a little high but since I have had good previous experience I let him proceed.
