Affordable Radiant Barrier

Neal was very knowledgeable, showed up on time, and did the work exactly as described. Would not hesitate to use again!

Neal came about several weeks ago to give an estimate. He was so thorough in his inspection of our attic and house to see what all was needed and gave a very clear explanation and demo as to how radiant barrier works. He also explained to me the importance of soffit vents - of which we had none around the front of our house, and also showed me how poorly the soffit vents we did have were constructed (holes too small for the vent). He took a lot of photos so that when he explained what all we needed, he could show me with the pics. We went ahead and had the work done this past Monday and it went very well. Our house is 3400 sq ft. As well as the radiant barrier install, he installed 18 soffit vents, 2 attic fans above the garage and relocated HVAC ducts and sealed HVAC ducts at the units. His crew worked extremely hard from 9 am until just after 6pm. Neal was there the whole time supervising, fetching additional materials etc. They took a really short lunch break. Overall i have to say that Neal clearly takes immense pride in his company and the work that they do. He is an owner that goes above and beyond. When he came to give the estimate, he identified that an air duct had become detached from one of the units in the attic. He took pics and showed me and then offered to temporarily attach it back to the unit until i could get it fixed. this was before i even agreed for him to do the RB work ! On Monday when they were doing the work, he found that the vents coming from both of our water heaters had become detached so he attached them (after showing me pics and getting my permission). It's those little things that make a world of difference. He says he treats each customer's house as if it is his own and pays particular attention to detail and completeness of the job, and it truly shows. thank you Neal and crew for a job really really well done. I look forward to summer to feel the effects of the radiant barrier and all the other bits that were done to cool the attic and in turn the rest of the house.

Neal came out and gave a VERY THOROUGH estimate of putting not just radiant barrier in my attic but also insulation, soffit vents and an entry poitn to my attic. The quote given was for what he could estimate as the majority of my attic area did not have an entrance as the HVAC system is in a smaller section of attic to the side. So it may be cheaper. But he went through the areas of my attic that he could and even went around the house to find other areas that he could improve the insulation of my house via vents, radiant barrier and insulation. Thoroughly enjoyed talking with him but when I had him come out I figured all he would be able to do was put insulation and radiant barrier in the area of my attic where the HVAC was so didn't think he could do the entire house but that quote was about $2800 but that is not bad considering my house is about 3000 sq feet. However, since we are still paying off our new HVAC unit, we decided to wait until after it is paid off before hire Affordable Radiant Barrier.

The crew was skilled and efficient. Neal was very knowledgeable and understands the dynamics of why radiant barrier works so well. We have had it in long enough to see a difference in our bills and certainly have seen a different look from other contractors that have to go in our attic. Before it was unbearably hot.

Mr. Jones was here early to start the job, and finished in a reasonable time without delay. This is a mighty task as attics in summer months in Texas are extremely hot. He took all precautions to finish as starting. During the installation Mr. Jones re-attached two braces that was holding the A/C unit that had forced a crack in the sheetrock,which is now repaired. So this my friends is who I want, that helps beyond what is ONLY asked for.

We got three different estimates and Neal was by far the lowest and Neal also explained everything in great detail.. The 2nd story of our house was so hot that our air conditioner could not cool the upstairs.. After the radiant barrier was install, the upstairs was a lot cooler, I was able to take a nap upstairs again. I am looking forward to the winter as Neal said that the radiant barrier will also help keep the heat in the house. Our electric bill has been considerable lower!! Neal always answered my questions and I had a lot.

I had this done a little over a month ago. I just received my electric bill and was amazed at how much lower it was! I just had to write and let everyone know! Also, when I called, Neal was able to answer all my questions and explained everything to me clearly. He was very courteous and stayed throughout the install at my house. It didn't take as long as I thought it would, they finished putting in everything by late afternoon! I would definitely recommend him to everyone, he had the best price out of all the estimates I received.

Neal spent lots of time explaining how a radiant barrier works. He personally attends all installations to ensure they meet his specifications. The work showed attention to detail. It's definitely a LOT cooler in the attic. It's too soon to determine if the bills will go down, but I can't imagine it not going down due to the lower temperatures in the attic. It would exceed 143F before the radiant barrier and now it's same temperature as the outside air.

Work started at 7:30 am and was completed the same day. Services included radiant barrier, replacement of all under-eves attic vents, additional insulation in attic, thermostat-driven exhausted fan, and air conditioning checkup and cleaning. All work was done quickly, efficiently, and with minimal fuss and bother. These folks are pros! Highly recommend their services!!!!!!!!!

Let me start by saying that I called several contractors/companies. Some came out and never bothered to send me a quote. Some were almost twice the price. ARB was the best price by far and with a child in college price was definitely a factor. I knew my insulation was good and he noted that as well, he didn't try to sell me things I didn't need. I wanted a good product but definitely did not want to overpay. I initially decided to get Radiant Barrier (the foil, not the spray) because I didn't want our second story to be off limits in July/August. It is amazing the difference it has made. The second story stays cool no matter what time of day - and - my air conditioner runs much less frequently. I used to think it had to run all the time to keep it a nice 72. The installation process took a day, which I think is normal but they were in and out and everything went really smooth. He really went above and beyond. I would definitely recommend ARB to anyone looking to install Radiant Barrier in their home.

Overall, I am super impressed! I was a bit hesitant to go with this company as there were no reviews on Angie's list but after calling them out to give me a quote I felt comfortable. The owner (Neal) was super-helpful to explain things, as well as why one thing is better for my attic than the other. I actually did a ton of research ahead of time as I like to be informed and had a feel that he was not trying to upsell me into anything I did not need and was honest and straightforward with me. He was also good on matching the price of another (lower) quote that I got. On the day of the install, the crew was running a little late due to fog; Neal texted me a few times to let me know of their progress. When the crew arrived, they set to work immediately and Neal joined them a little later. I have to say that I am amazed that they were able to complete my attic in a day (albeit it was a full day of work, for 4 people)! Then the AC specialist (that Neal arranged) came out to look my AC system over. Neal also took care of a few smaller unrelated issues he found on my chimney (failed vent parts, caulking etc) and he inspected all of the work carefully after the crew left. The attic and garage were left clean, and he wants to come in about a week after it was all in place for a little while and goes through a few heat/cool cycles (day/night) to do another inspection and do any touchups as necessary. Overall, I am very pleased! It is not very often that I feel that a contractor has my best interest in mind, but I definitely felt that here. Recommended!
