Hofer Wood Shutters

I called Jim the first week of March to set an appointment for an estimate. We met a few days later, which I was impressed with his punctuality. During the appointment, he went over every detail of how the shutters will look and the quality of his work. The next day I was able to get a quote for a combination of shutters and wooden blinds; as well as a quote for shutters on all windows. I decided to do all shutters since there was not much of a difference between both quotes. Jim was able to install the shutters a week earlier than was planned. He and his son had done a wonderful job and I was impressed with the quality of the work done. I'm very happy with the way the shutters look! I would really recommend Jim.

We researched several installers for custom plantation shutter installers and came selected Hofer based on the feedback provided from some of their previous customers. They arrived on time and measured our windows throughout the house as expected and assisted us in picking out the colors that would best match our interiors. We selected a dark stain finish on 4 1/2" blades and the results are stunning. Custom plantation shutters are expensive, but a beautiful addition to the house that should last for decades. Hofer Wood Interiors are definitely the company to call if you're looking to upgrade to plantation shutters.

This guy is wonderful. He responded to us almost immediately. He set up an appointment and came out extremely professional. He does all the work and guarantees himself. My only regret is the only thing he does is wood shutters. I wished he did other things. He was timely and he did everything just as he said he would and above. I would recommend him over and over. He comes out and measures. They’re lifetime guaranteed. He orders hardwood cotton wood and pre-cut to fit your window. He customize colours whatever colour you want. He and his son do them. He is awesome. He did an outstanding job. I couldn’t be happier. He did everything perfectly. I thought he’s price was great. I had actually looked at other companies; they’re vinyl and not real wood because real woods are expensive. He’s actually better than theirs. I got the colour that I wanted. I picked the colour I wanted and he spray painted them. I was expecting a certain amount of money and I was afraid it would be quite expensive after I learned how they did them but I was surprised by the price being reasonable as it was. I wished he did more things. I own a business where I had to handle projects and we had to make sure that they are timely and meet the customer’s expectations. He met me one time to get a colour form for me. He just did an excellent job. He didn’t overextend his expectations. He didn’t go and promised me something and then say he’s sorry that he can’t do that. He tells me how long will it take and when it will happen. It all just worked out exactly as he said.

Jim was some "salesman", heavy moments, but overall he's fantastic, and so is his work. He was on time, thorough, kind and the quality of his work was impeccable.

Jim came over to measure and was able to give us an estimate that day. I think we waited about 6 weeks before installation which Jim told us up front. He gave us an installation date and it was moved up about a week. They are beautiful! Previously we had blinds. With the shutters there is more sunlight coming in and we have a better view of our backyard. Another bonus is that in our master bedroom, the shutters when shut, block out the light and we are able to sleep so much better. The shutters are very high quality! It's important to note that Jim asks for about 2/3 of the money up front. He does accept credit cards. The balance is due after installation.

We heard about Jim from friends who used his services a few years ago. Jim came out to our home several weeks ago to review what we wanted to do, take measurements and suggest the style and materials of the plantation shutters. He provided a quote within a day and we decided to make the investment. We have a lot of windows, several of which are large and two of which are the mid-90s arch style. Jim notified us when the shutters were being painted and confirmed the install date. He provided the estimated time of arrival. Jim and his son arrived and took close to 5 hours to install, caulk and make adjustments on all the shutters. They worked quickly and carefully kept the areas where they were working very clean. Overall, we are very happy with the end to end process. The quality is very good and the shutters come with a lifetime warranty!

Excellent job! 9 of the plantation shutters were for windows with arched tops. 4 of the shutters, and 6 of the blinds were in windows that have large crown molding going inside the window opening, about halfway up the wall. Jim worked hours getting measurements for the blinds, then installing the blinds and shutters, cutting and fitting the crown molding to accommodate the trim work. Everything turned out perfect. Jim communicated well, stayed in touch, and got our products in record time! He and his son did a fine job, and we would definitely recommend them!

They measured and ordered the shutters and then installed them. I thought they did a great job. He was the third bid we got, it was a great price. He was very professional and did a great job. He was always on time as well, which I appreciated. I would recommend him to anyone.

We are highly impressed with our new shutters from Hofer Wood Interiors. They are all solid wood and very high quality. They look amazing and an added side benefit is the temperature change on a hot Texas afternoon and outside noise reduction. With our old blinds we heard everything outside and had problems keeping the house cool. Both issues were resolved with these awesome shutters!! After seeing the sample shutters Jim brought, we were immediately sold. The quality of the product greatly surpassed anything we had seen. When Jim arrived to do the installation, the shutters were already pre-assembled and painted ahead of time, ready to install. They were very professional, courteous and personable throughout the whole process from first consultation, final measurement, to final delivery and installation. Jim was great to work with. He spent a great deal of time discussing shutters with me at the initial consultation. His detailed bid came in hours later and after some time spent shopping around for comparison bids, I realized his product and personalized service was far superior. His production time was shorter than any of the other companies I spoke with and he had them all ready and installed days after I moved in. The shutters (and blinds) are a beautiful addition to my new home and I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again in the future for any other windows I decide to cover. Measured, built, painted and installed wooden shutters in my new home. Each window shutter fit like a glove- love, love them. Lots of tall, large windows -3000 plus sq ft.

Jim is a perfectionist! One of the best things I have ever purchased for this house. Jim guided us through the process and we learned a lot of details about wooden blinds. I have waited more than six months to make sure I feel as good about the job now as I did back in march and I do. If not more so now. I went to Jim's shop to review the process and see the work first hand. Jim showed us everything from the good to the bad and the mistakes he and other have made. Jim did not push us at all for the job and I will use him again on the new house I am thinking of building. Jim and his son came out and installed them all in one day he promised a lot and delivered more than promised or than I expected.

Overall, we are very happy with the project, the quality of the shutters and the installation process. Jim, the owner, came out, measured windows, provided an estimate. He was slightly higher than a competitor, but I preferred the look of his product and the way it would install in my double-hung windows. He required a larger down payment up front than competitors. It did take about two weeks longer than expected for them to come in, but we were not in a rush, so it was not an issue. Jim asks for the color and type of paint you want and paints them before he installs them. The quality of the finish is very good. Installation process was very quick, efficient and with no mess. The end result looks fabulous. In terms of the lower mark for punctuality, Jim missed the first appointment and did not call. When I called him, we rescheduled for following day and he was late, but he did show up. The expected date of shutters passed with no communications, so I contacted him and we agreed on installation date. Installation time was pushed back a few hours, but he did text to let me know. Communications were mainly by email and text, which was easy for me. Jim was very nice and seems to take pride in his work. He worked with his son to install the windows.

Jim was great! I called to get an estimate over the phone and he offered to come measure my house and provide me an accurate quote the next day. He sent me the estimate the morning after measuring and the pricing is very competitive. I'm waiting for one more quote before I make my decision, but I would recommend Jim without question based on the service I've received so far.

When Jim came out to give us an estimate, he was on time and very professional. Through our discussions with him )and because I've had a little experience doing carpentry work myself), we could tell he was very knowledgeable about shutters and carpentry in general. We knew there were some areas in our home that would make his work a little more challenging. He was able to answer well how to address those issues--it was apparent he had handled similar issues before. Not long after his visit, he promptly provided a written estimate. We considered his estimate as well as that of a couple other well-qualified shutter installers we had come out to our home. Hofer's price was not cheap. There are installers who will do the work for much cheaper, but they also provide a inferior product and installation, and we weren't interested in those kinds of installers. However, among the quality installers we could find, his price was the best. We were actually surprised by this because we had the impression that his work would be the best in terms of quality. When installation day came (which was consistent with the day he originally promised at the time he gave the estimate), he and his son arrived on time and were able to install all the shutters fairly quickly. The paint matched our existing trim work very well. It's now been a couple days since the installation and the shutters open and shut very cleanly. The installation looks clean and crisp, as if the shutters had been there all along, installed by the original builder. We're very pleased with the product and would highly recommend his work. I should also note that he was willing to build and install a frame around one of our windows that we did not want shutters on. We wanted this window to have a frame that would match the frames on all the windows that were getting shutters. He was willing to do this for free! We asked for it after he provided his estimate and after we had already paid.

Outstanding. I ordered plantation shutters for the front of the house. Jim came out and measured and provided a reasonable estimate. The shutters are high quality and installation took about one hour. I am using him for the remainder of the windows in the house. Highly Recommended.
