They were great! They arrived for the estimate and work when they said they would, the quality of the product was outstanding, and the people with whom we worked were very professional! I highly recommend them.

When I originally contacted them several years ago, I needed an a/c replaced and was totally lost. Sonny, the owner came to my home and sat down with me for about 1-2 hours to go over everything. There are always on time and they always do a great job. They speak to me very clearly so that I can understand exactly what is going. I thoroughly trust them in my home. I have even left a key for them if I couldn't be there. They are very competitively priced, and I wouldn't go with anyone else.
Description of Work: I use them semi-annually for regular maintenance and have been for approximately 15 years.

They are very good. We have used them for several years. The technicians are very polite and do exactly what is needed. They also cleaned up after the work. In the past, they have done some major work done on the A/C units. They are older units and they do a great job of keeping them running efficiently. The technicians call to let you know they are on the way. Overall, they are very dependable company. There have been times where the A/C went out and they responded quickly and came right out to fix the issue.
Description of Work: They do the spring and fall tune ups in the spring and the fall.

Excellent! We never had an issue with the AC's or heaters and they performed exceeding well day in and day out. Fresh Air would come out in the Spring and Fall of each year to perform a preventative maintenance check on the system, including changing the large air filters on the units upstairs in the attics. In November 2011, we had a major water leak downstairs, which meant that all of our downstair flooring was removed. We had a lot of contractors in and out of the house at that time. I remember one of the contractors asking if he could turn our AC fans "on", so that they provided additional (and continuous) ventilation in the home during the repair work. Fast forward several months later: the leak was repaired, we had new floors downstairs and all of the contractors were gone. However, the fans on the ACs were still "on" and I was left wondering why my electricity bill had been so high for the last few months. Fortunately, the Fresh Air tech during the Spring preventative maintenance caught the problem with the AC fans and turned them to "auto" so that they only came on when needed. That simple acted saved me about 25% on my electricity bill, which more than paid for the cost of their preventive maintenance. The techs that came out each year were professional, courteous and competent. They always checked to make sure that the system was functioning properly inside and out. I could turn my heaters on in the fall and not worry about inadvertenly filling my house with carbon monoxide. In the summer months, I was confident that my units were providing cooling as efficiently as possible. I highly recommend Fresh Air.
Description of Work: Fresh Air installed two new energy efficient AC's/heaters for us in 2006. They did an outstanding job. We also employed them to perform preventative maintenance on the units twice a year until March 2013, when we moved.

We have enjoyed a good relationship with Fresh Air LP. I have been happy with their work all 18 years. When I had companies out back in ’95, Fresh Air came in much lower than the other bids I received. Sonny, the owner, came out and redesigned my duct system to make it run more efficiently and save me money. My expectations were lower than the end product, which surprised me. I am a big fan of theirs for years.
Description of Work: We have been a customer of theirs since 1995. They installed a new system for us and still service the unit. The come out twice a year in the spring and fall.

It didn't go well. I thought that the technician did a decent job with the repairs until I noticed that he had placed bricks on the unit. When I removed the bricks, the unit started shaking erratically. What's frustrating is that the unit never shook until after the technician had made the repairs. Because of this, I will not be using Fresh Air in the future.

With temperature rising, having a 17 month old in the house, a wife with mild PIH, A/C problems are not something to laugh at. I had previously consulted Fresh Air in regards to servicing my A/C units in summer and winter to ensure properly working units and was happy with their work. Having established a rapport with and getting a contract for service with them, when I had problems I thought I could trust this company. I was charged $277 for a capacitor that retails for approx 98.31, and that price is with a supposed $34 discount. According to the tech he assured me that this price is what is normal, having been bold face lied to and basically robbed I will not ever do business with this company again and urge anyone else to do price checking if they decide to do business with this company. *UPDATE* 6/25/2012 called to speak with manager to resolve issues... For no satisfactory response was assured price was price of part... A/C warehouse sells part for approx $33

Response from Fresh Air, L.P.
Member, Yes, we do charge more than many other companies in the area, though not as much as others. I make no apologies for our pricing. I learned a long time ago that it is far better to offer a more expensive, quality service and explain our prices every once in a while than to skimp and live with a reputation for poor quality forever. Why do we charge more? It’s a fair question. Let me endeavor to answer. First, our prices are not set by happenstance. They aren’t set to the level we think the market will bear. Neither are they set to the level our competitors charge. Our prices are set so that we can keep one dime out of every dollar after taxes. I think that’s fair. The fact is that are prices are based on our costs. Out of every dollar we charge, we must pay for: • Our technician’s salary • Worker’s compensation • Social security • Medical benefits • Uniforms • Ongoing training • The time it takes to drive to your house • Tools • Trucks • Finance charges on the inventory we carry • Gas • Insurance for our trucks • Business insurance • State licensing • Telephone line charges • Our telephone system • Someone to answer the phones and dispatch the technician (keeping track of the progress of every job to keep you informed when you can expect the technician) • Overhead and benefits for office personnel • Our computers • Our software • Someone to enter information into the computers • Accounting • Billing • Tax services • Legal services • An after-hours answering service • Yellow Pages advertising • Other advertising • Membership in professional and trade organizations • Reserves to ensure we can honor all of our warranties and guarantees • People to fill out dozens of forms and reports for various government regulators • Taxes It costs a lot of money to run an organization that is prepared to respond rapidly for people like yourself who call us in a crisis because their comfort system has broken down during extreme weather conditions. You don’t want to wait until we can get around to it. That means we need extra resources standing by. Unfortunately, faster service is more expensive. Yes, there are some in our community that charge less. There are some that hire less qualified personnel, who make lots of mistakes and must go back and correct them. There are some that do not train their workforce to keep them up to speed with current codes and practices. There are some that drive beat-up old trucks, which will leak oil all over your driveway or in front of your home. There are some that do not conduct background checks on their employees or perform drug tests to ensure that you won’t have to worry about a service technician returning at night to rob you to support a drug habit (please do not scoff; this is a very real problem in our industry). There are some that do not carry the proper level of insurance to protect you in the event of a catastrophe. There are some that cut a lot of corners. I can understand how you might be upset. If you walked into a nice steak house for dinner, you might also be upset to learn that you could have gotten a dinner at a buffet style restaurant for far less. Different businesses charge different prices for what appear to be similar products and services every day. Yet, rarely are the products and services truly the same. There are always differences. When you called us, you may not have wanted the quality of service and level of protection we offer. You did want our speed of response, however. The problem is the quality of service, level of protection, and speed of response come together as a package. We can’t break them apart or isolate one aspect of our service from another. I think it’s fair to say that you understood what cost when you agreed to the service, just like you understood the cost of a dinner when you order from the menu at a restaurant. When you order a dinner and eat the meal, I doubt you try to walk out on the check even though you might think it’s pricey. I would hope you give us the same consideration. I’m not here to make excuses. I merely wanted to offer an explanation. I hope you have a better understanding than you did before

Called Fresh Air after reviewing member reports on Angies List which were all outstanding. We had several companies come out before Fresh Air but he was the only one that would actually issue a quote in writing. The other companies that came out would not put anything in writing and their companies called later to follow up we said we needed something in writing and had further questions -we never heard from them again. At that point we realized we were not only purchasing a new unit but the service that goes along with it. Sonny came out and gave the initial estimate and took the time to let us know how he would be installing the two units and any improvements that he would make along the way. He is courteous and sincere and really drove home the point that he would be there to service us into the future. He has been in the business a very long time and does not use subs for his jobs. We took a while to committ to replacing the 16 year old unit as it still was working but knew it may not make it through another long hot Houston summer. We called him back to see if he would come out again to finalize the deal. Due to us purchasing in February we negotiated a better price which we were satisfied with. We scheduled a day for them to come out and install, but due to consistant rain had to re-schedule. When the crew came out in the morning they got right to work and the job took the entire day. They were very careful everywhere including up in the attic and did a great job. Everything they did was with great expertise & professionalism. Sonny came out later in the day to make sure everything was in order. This Infinity unit take a special Carrier Thermostat and they did not leave until they were sure we knew how to operate it before they left. We just received my first power bill since installation and even though only one week with the new unit was shown on our bill it was already lower than the previous bill. We are looking forward to a cooler, less expensive, more comfortable summer in our home thanks to Fresh Air. We highly recommend Fresh Air to anyone thinking of replacing their equipment.

Call back tech explained that the call out would be $120. Ok, fair enough. I explained what the potential problem might be. Outside blower motor and capacitor. He stated it was probably a capacitor that he had replace many this hot season. He also informed me that the price of the capacitor was $300.00!!!!! This is a capacitor that any one off the street can purchase at Johnson supply for ~$40.00. He was cordial and I thanked him and said "No thanks".

If it were possible to give this company a grade above A I would. I had my AC unit evaluated by another company and was told it would need a new Fan Motor for something like $350. Since the unit was still functioning but just not cooling up to my standards I decided to get a second opinion. The technician from Fresh Air arrived and within seconds determined that my AC unit was not cooling well because of a lack of Freon. I was ready and willing to get a new fan motor but was told that would not be needed, just a couple of pounds of Freon. The system is now working perfectly. I would recommend Fresh Air highly to anyone in need of AC service.
