Had a problem in a rental property and I live 1,000 miles away. Got many bids via Angie's List - Artisan's was best bid and in addition did the work fast and well. I'll call them first when I have additional needs - Done Right Deal !!!

Overall, we were very happy with the work that was done. The phone estimate for the job was initially a little low, but Jimmy did everything he could (including accepting the 10% off coupon for the entire 3 days of the job, sending helpers, and even coming out himself on the last day for a lower rate) to keep our costs as low as possible. We definitely appreciated that. Bill, the technician who did most of the work, was friendly, personable and trustworthy. He explained every step of the process and made sure we were completely aware of what was being done. We are pleased with the thorough work that was done. The window trims are now solid and freshly painted and we no longer have to worry about water leaking into the house each time it rains. Thank you so much for the beautiful job, we will certainly call Artisan Home Repair again when we have another project to complete!

Whether Jimmy came out himself or sent an employee we were happy with the end product. On one occasion we had additional concerns about a water filter they installed & they returned and fixed the minor problem under their warranty at no additional cost to us. Jimmy is really good at getting back to us on any concerns or problems we have had. He is very knowledgeable in his field and we are comfortable working with him. We like and trust Jimmy and would recommend him to anyone.

I needed the fence in my backyard to be completed; the corner lot had never been fully fenced and it required a gate across the driveway. I did not want to replace the entire fence on the lot and did not want to spend a great deal of money on an expensive electric gate. Jimmy worked closely with me to come up with a solution that fit my needs and my budget perfectly. The quality and workmanship of the end result is excellent and I am extremely happy with the new fence. He built the fence out using panels and built a manual double swing gate which is exactly what I needed! I would recommend Jimmy for any of your fencing needs. He is prompt, responsive, and professional.

Carlos was on time, very polite - i explained where i was having difficulty and he understood the problem immediately. He was able to get the lights done in a little over an hour - he also answered a question for me that he was off the "clock" about a door that would not stay open

Jimmy was great. It is always nice to find a handyman that you can trust to do great work. If there is something you need that he does not know how to fix he will get someone that does know how or tell you that he does not know how. He was very reliable and did a great job for me. I also needed the work done quickly in order to sell my house and he was there to do the work the next day. I will use Jimmy in the future for all kinds of repairs.

It was messy work but Jimmy took it on and quoted me $2500 up front. Even after we realized he should have quoted me significantly more, he stuck to the quote and finished the job. He had Bill, his main painter do the work. Bill was very thorough and the ceilings look great. I will definitely use Jimmy again. His sense of professionalism is unmatched with other small companies.

Jimmy showed up exactly on time. This day he was training a new technician. He reviewed the work to be done and went over the charges. He charges by the hour and was very aware of that using his time in the most efficient way. He removed and replaced three faucets along with new cut off valves and lines. I supplied the hardware with the exception of a couple of smaller parts. They were very neat in protecting all work areas and very thorough in checking other things such as garbage disposal and other plumbing lines. He also fixed a leaking outside faucet. The work took exactly as long as he estimated. I will definitely use him again and would highly recommend this honest businessman to any who need work done.

I had initially contacted Artisans about some damage I had to a shower wall. I sent pictures of the damage and asked if it was something he could repair. After viewing the pictures, Jimmy called me to go over the damage and the scope of the repair needed. We decided on installation of a three piece shower surround. We set the date of the install and his worker showed up on time. Unfortunately, the work was not completed to my satisfaction so I called Artisans, explained what I had a problem with and sent him pictures of the work in question. Jimmy immediately scheduled a different workman to come out, complete the work and fix all of the issues I had mentioned. During the entire process, I was kept informed of what was going on, advised of what changes had been made and assured that my complete satisfaction was their ultimate goal. Once the work was completed, I was even given a discount for the inconvenience caused. I am very happy with the outcome of my shower. I was treated with courteousness and professionalism and the finished product was well worth the initial glitch. I'll definitely use them again for future projects.

Okay 7. In less than two months is falling apart. 8. Unfinished, left raw edges. 9. Tile Buckled, tried to blame it on me, new contractor says it was installed incorrectly. 10. Blew out both air conditioning transformers. Jimmy totally lost his cool when his employee couldn't repair it and I called my usual AC guy. Jimmy had not told me or his employee that he would take care of it, if the employee could not. I went without a/c for 6 hours and at no time did Jimmy call to check on progress or tell me or his employee that he would contact his own a/c guy. Initially, I thought Jimmy was going to work out, but when he decided to become a "boss" instead of a worker, the quality of his company plummeted. He is not boss material; he does not inspect his employee's work, and he ultimately, tries to blame the customer. He made an offer in exchange for not complaining. I saw that as a bribe and as undermining the purpose of Angie's list. I complained to AL. Angie's List called me and I told them the whole story and they said it would be put on the site. When it never appeared, I contacted Angie's List and was told they couldn't find it. Therefore, I am posting it myself, instead of by Angie's List phone interview. *edited 10/14/2011* Not true. I never posted positive reviews and l checked with Angie?s List and was told customers cannot remove reviews anyway. As mentioned, I had reviewed Artisans by phone with Angie?s , but the review never appeared. I contacted Angie?s and they told me they could not find it, so I posted a new one myself. I had them back because as mentioned earlier, initially I thought Jimmy was going to work out, but then he started hiring people and not supervising them. Again, I did not post positive reviews and the only discounts, I received were for work that was shoddily done or they did not show up as promised. At least 3x they didn?t come on the days scheduled. Twice for ?illness? and once because Jimmy forgot to tell his employee to come. Jimmy said he was discounting, because I had been so patient and kind. I signed invoices saying the work was completed at that time. I could not predict the future and did not know the work was not done correctly. Superficially, it looked fine or Jimmy said it would adjust with time. Most of this statement is pure fiction. He did not paint. My brother did the painting because Jimmy quoted me 500.00 just to paint the living room ceiling one coat of white; no primer necessary. It took him a long time to do the ceiling, because he kept having equipment problems. I was going to discuss this with Jimmy when he returned to finish other work. However, we had to reschedule at least 3x because of Jimmy?s problems. Then, Artisans?s last visit was a total fiasco and I didn?t want him in my house ever again. This is not true. Jimmy is the one who suggested folding doors. I had already had one accordion door installed by Jimmy, but he felt the folding door would be better for the pantry which was fine. I do prefer the folding door, however, that does not change the fact that it was installed incorrectly and now I am having another AL provider redo it. As said previously, I do not want Jimmy in my home. He is too volatile, if things do not go exactly as he wants and he gets overly excited, if something questions the work done. He is not one to graciously and honestly accept responsibility. Cook top installation was fine. It is my understanding that a professional knows how to install a rack properly on a wall. Jimmy has always advised regarding the proper ?screws? and he didn?t say anything about the ones supplied by the manufacturer being incorrect. He also did not have a problem with where it was being placed. It was a towel rack and only towels were put on it. Yes, I did, and I still am. This is untrue. I was not advised of any more work being necessary. According to Jimmy, he fired the worker that day for other problems the worker caused at my home. I did not advise Jimmy of the ensuing problems with the gate, because I was no longer going to use Jimmy?s services. As a matter of fact, I cut off all contact with Jimmy, because I would get long-winded rantings from him. This is not true and I have not complained about the backsplash. However, it remains ungrouted because the worker Jimmy scheduled to finish the grouting arrived w/o his tools and was fired that day, the same day I severed my relationship with Jimmy and his company. I have hired someone else to finish the grouting. This is also untrue. The worker said that the tiles had to cure/dry for at least 24 hours, then he would have to return to grout them. The cabinet was left alone until several weeks later when the worker was supposed to return and grout them at which time I noticed the ?popped? tiles. The counter tiles were still lined up exactly with the tiles on the back of the cabinet, however, they were tilted up. Jimmy began giving excuses such as the worker probably didn?t prepare the underlayment properly, etc. It is only after I stopped doing business with Jimmy that he came up with his current story. The new company that will redo the tile says the problem is that Jimmy?s worker did the backsplash and the counter beneath on the same day. They should have been completed on separate days and with wider grout lines, so that the backsplash tiles while drying wouldn?t slide down and tip up the counter tiles. Not true. Jimmy started yelling at me because I called my company. I told him to stop talking to me like that. I even handed the phone off to the A/C technician so he could explain to Jimmy the problem and Jimmy was so abusive to the technician, the technician put down the phone and refused to have any more to do with Jimmy. Jimmy did not tell his worker that he would send out his own A/C person and this he admitted to me. Jimmy initially said he would not pay for the A/C?s repair and only switched his story to he was talking about the warranty when I challenged him about paying for the repair. I told him I certainly didn?t think he could guarantee another company?s work, but he could certainly pay for the damage his company did. I have extensive emails concerning this, if anyone wants to see them. He did not discount everything and now I?m having to pay someone else to redo Jimmy?s and his company?s work. Quality is not proven until the long term. If you think otherwise I would advise you not to sign Jimmy?s invoices; actually, I advise you not to hire Jimmy at all. Not true, and moreover, his hourly rate is high and has gone even higher, since he decided to become the boss. Not true, especially for his hired help. Jimmy himself didn?t show up at all at least twice and didn?t call to explain until about 20 minutes before his scheduled arrival. He also didn?t call at all when his worker didn?t show up at all; I had to call Jimmy and he admitted it was his fault for not confirming with his worker. Whatever that means. Note: I also rec?d a call from one of Jimmy?s workers asking me to write him a reference because he was taking Jimmy to court for firing him and not paying him for work done. This man also suggested that something was wrong with the reviews on Angie?s List, since he had personally witnessed Jimmy?s problems with other customers, but no negative reviews had been posted. Finally, if Jimmy is going to use workers instead of doing the work himself, he should come out and check the work himself, if a customer complains. If he takes the opinion of the worker who did the work, instead of seeing for himself, then he is just perpetuating the worker?s bias and poor work.

I needed to get this work done right away and they agreed to do it on a Saturday, only about two days after I first contacted them. The gentleman who performed the work arrived when promised and did an excellent/high quality job; he was out there most of the day until he finished, even though it was 105 degrees in the afternoon. I was contacted a couple of days later to make sure that I was satisfied with the work and, in fact, they reviewed my invoice, found a $25 math error (overpayment) and promised a refund for that amount, which I received within a week. I could not have been more pleased with the entire experience and will definitely use this company for future work.

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor. Everything was perfect. The owner personally called me several times throughout this process to check on my satisfaction with the job's progress. When the tile was removed and it became apparent that more work and time would be required to complete the job because of repairs needed on the foundation, the owner called me with all the details, provided an updated price quote and revised repair timetable. All this met with my satisfaction. The job was completed on time and under the revised price quote. Interestingly, this entire job took place while I was away on a business trip. I never met the owner or his employees, but with the frequent and useful phone updates, I felt like I was there all the time. When I returned home, I was very pleased with the work. Everything was done with great attention to detail. The new grout matched the old perfectly. It was impossible to tell which tiles were old and which were new. The masonary patching was also execellent. I really could not be more pleased. Highly recommended contractor whom I will use again. Thank you!

I inquired through e-mail if Artisans could install a very tall pendant light in my foyer and also a new fireplace mantel. Jimmy called me immediately and was very professional with his response. He gave me a quote over the phone after I had sent him some pictures and we had an appointment set up the following week. He and Bill showed up exactly on time, set up a ladder system to hang my very high, awkward light, and had the light and mantel both hung within an hour and a half - A quarter of the time he had quoted me. He is very efficient and was happy to give advice and suggestions on other home projects I am contemplating. I will definitely be using Artisans again!

I had tried to do some home DIY plumbing - I was changing from copper pipes to compression fittings to change my kitchen faucet. Ironically i got stuck by a rusted old nut which prevented me from changing the faucet, and stitching my water back on. I called, explained my situation. The owner, requested I send pictures, he offered guidance over the phone, to see if I could complete this myself, when I was unable too, he had no availability, so he called other companies, in the end when he was unable to locate someone to aid me that day. He sent a gentleman who was starting with that company to aid me, who was so professional and helped me. Above and above does not cover how much the owner and staff went for me. There is no other company I will call!

I don't think I can say enough good things about Artisans Home Repair. Jimmy Ponton was one of the only contractors who returned all my calls promptly. I described the work I needed done and he gave me an estimate over the phone. Bill (the painter) did an amazing job of painting the dining room walls in a deep wine color that I'd selected with a cream-colored trim. I provided the paint for the walls and trim and Bill went over the work and the agreement before he got started. I really liked the opportunity to go over everything I wanted done with the person who was about to do the work. Every line where the two colors came together was done with great precision. When Bill was done, there were no splotches or spots left on anything. Bill cleaned up everything and was respectful of our space while he was there. We would definitely use Artisans Home Repair again.

Showed up on time, to the minute - and left no signs of having worked there (i.e., no dust). Excellent job! Owner called to confirm work met our expectations. Will definitely call this contractor again!

I have used Artisans Home Repair several times, and have recommended them to all of my friends, and even my finicky mother in law loves them. They are prompt, courteous, clean, and attentive. My tech was incredibly efficient and did a wonderful job. I would hire this company for almost every project I have.

Justin, the Artisan's contractor sent to the job, was prompt, knowledgeable and professional. He did excellent work and was a pleasure to deal with. The price paid Artisan's was for labor and minimal materials. We had purchased the replacement door separately. The labor cost was a little more than I wanted to pay, but the work was perfect. I would definitely use Artisan's and Justin again.

I was very pleased with the work and communication from Artisan! Justin installed shelves in my linen closet. He was very fast and professional. I will definitely use this company again!

Jimmy responded promptly to my inquiry and gave me several scheduling options. I was having a party and really hadn't allowed enough time for this, so he worked my tasks in to meet my deadline, which I appreciated. He arrived on schedule, did an excellent job and cleaned up completely. He also informed me that my walls were plaster, which I did not know, and he had the proper hooks for a plaster installation. I've struggled to hang everything in this house, which is why I hired Jimmy to install the hooks - and now I know why! He told me what type of hardware to purchase in future. He also gave me information on an appliance I need to repair/replace so that I can order the part. I will be calling Jimmy to replace it when I receive it. I was entirely satisfied with his workmanship, his professionalism and his price.

Jimmy met me at Home Depot early in the morning so he could help select the supplies required to do the job. I paid for the supplies with my Home Depot credit card. I then left him to do the job while I went to work. When I got home, Jimmy was putting the finishing touches on a job very well done. The columns look geat! I have already received two compliments from neighbors on how nice they look. When the job was completed, I realized that Home Depot had over charged us for the supplies. After a very hard day working in 90+ heat, Jimmy volunteered to go up to Home Depot with me in order to help me get my money back. He did not have to do that...but he did. My wife and I feel like we have finally found a trustworthy all purpose contractor / handyman to do a great job every time we need him.

Jimmy was very easy to talk to and responsive to email. We corresponded back and forth before the job so I had all the supplies he needed. He was flexible when I added tasks and the weather changed, and made good use of his time. He is very skilled and was happy to explain what he was doing. He also answered my questions about general handyman tasks in enough detail that I can carry out some repairs on my own. Overall the project went very well and I have already hired him for additional projects. I would gladly recommend him for any project, large or small.
