Having just moved into a home and having family coming in from out of town for the holiday I had a few things that needed to be done and I just didn't have the time to do them myself. So I chose it hire a handyman service to come in and take care of some things. I contacted this company and spoke with the owner Jimmy. He was awesome. I explained that I had all the materials I just needed the labor. He gave me a very reasonable quote and was very flexible on scheduling a time which I was grateful since I needed someone on short notice. I found him to be not only professional but friendly. He is very responsive as I sent a few more emails after the initial conversation and he responded to each one in a very timely manner. On the day that I scheduled the service Ron showed up on time, went thru the house with me to see thejobs I needed completed. He got to work immediately and within two hours not only did the items I discussed with Jimmy but also ended up hanging two curtain rods and fixed a problem I was having with the front door. The front door was something I wasn't going to do anything about even tho I knew it was an issue but he noticed it on his own and said that won't take me long and in a matter of 10 minutes had the door off, made some adjustments and it is much better. While he was here my inlaws came over and my mother in law was so impressed she asked for a card and his name and will be contacting them to do some things she needs as well. This was a wonderful experience overall and I will be contacting them again should I need more work done around our home. I told Ron when I paid the bill that it was worth every penny and how happy I was that not only were my jobs done to my satisfaction but done quickly.

The worked looked like a highschool student did it. I am very upset with the outscome of the work. The owner has been willing to correct the work but part of it is at my own expence. I am very hesitant to let them come back and fix the problem. I am requesting a refund of $1116.00. The reason I am requesting this refund is for the following reasons. 1. Closet contractor showed up to my home without a tape measure. I provided a tape measure to get initial measurements. 2. I was called by company owner to take additional measurements after I had been charged a fee for of $125.00 Artisan to do the measuring. I was not offered a refund for being inconvenienced. 3. I was told custom cabinets would be built which was not the case. 4. November 1, 2012 contractor and his helper showed up at my home without cabinets or material to begin the work. He took a down payment check left to go purchase material, 4 hours later he returns with his helper to begin working. 5. I ask the contractor, what type of material he was using to build shelves and cabinets? He told me it was MOD. MOD according everyone I have spoken to must be sanded and repainted several times before you can get it smooth and final finished. Contractor said, he could not find wood to build the shelves and cabinets. This was a blatant lie. 6. My electricity was used as long as 10 hours in a day for 5 days. The job was suppose to take 2 days.. I wasn't told or ask to use my electricity to build the so called custom cabinets. 7. The shelves that were built were not the proper width. Pieces were added to increase the width which were not finished on the underside. My new contractor pointed that out. Shelves had open seams. 8. Cabinet doors were not properly hung. Two cabinets were built with mismatched doors which I had to point out to the owner. My opinion is that the doors didn't match because they were being reused from another job. 9. I had chrome hanging rods in my closet. The contractor wanted to replace them with crappy looking poorly stained wood rods that would get scratch up over time by the hangers. 10. My purpose for redoing the closet was to increase space. I lost 42 inches of hanging space when the so called custom cabinets were installed. One of the cabinets was too wide for the space. A piece of MOD was slapped on the edge to try to cover that error. 11. I had to pay for a change order to regain 21 inches of hanging space which I lost due to a design error. 12. I gave the contractor the paint color number which has been used throughout my home. The color that was used was a total mismatch. The painter sprayed painted which turned out to be a big mess. Paint drips everywhere. Finally the owners use of profanity in my home. His admission that the work was poor quality and is statement to me that he wasn't going to continue coming out to my home because I didn't like the work. Basically blaming me for his employees not installing a professional quality closet. The owner came to my home twice both times he stated he couldn't believe what a poor job his crew had done. I decided that Artisan did not have the skill set required to complete the work. I hired a more experienced contractor with very good references. The work done by this company is being torn out, rebuilt, and repainted. One shoe rack will remain because it would have been to costly to remove and replace.

I was very pleased with everyone I worked with. Jimmy is the owner who I dealt with initially. He was very nice, professional, and very concerned that I understood every aspect of his estimate. Excellent quality of work, very honest. I recommend them very highly.

They were on time, professional and VERY easy to get a hold of. The work performed was SPECTACULAR. I will definitely use them again in the future.

We contacted Artisans because we were putting our house on the market and needed a few repairs that we were unable to complete ourselves. My wife actually called and made the appointment. She told Jimmy what we needed to have done and he sent a handyman out a couple days later. We've used handyman services before, but I could tell from the minute that this gentleman (I believe his name was Ron) arrived that he would be more professional and efficient than the other companies. He worked efficiently and made the repairs that we needed quickly. Actually he completed the work in well under the 1 hour minimum charge, so he asked if I would like him to take a look at the front door. He noted that it was sticking as he had to run out to his truck a couple of times. I didn't think to ask about that, but was so glad he noticed it. He was able to adjust it as well and still be within the hour. I'm very thankful to Ron as he did a fantastic job and even suggested the additional work so we got full use of the time we paid for. Artisans is definitely a keeper and we will use them for any future projects!

This was the best experience that I have ever had with any service oriented company. Artisan was professional from start to finish. From my initial contact on the phone with the owner I could tell that this was a different kind of company. Everything was up front and perfectly clear...no surprise charges. My appointment was for 9 am and the carpenter arrived 5 minutes before and waited in his truck till 9 on the dot before coming to my door. I can not say enough good things about this young man. He was professional, courteous, and extremely knowledgable. He explained the paper work to me and the way the billing worked before he put me on the clock. He was incredible. His work was fast, but thorough. When he was finished everything was in order and clean. I am a very satisfied customer and will use Artisan Home Repair for all of my future home repairs, maintenance and remodel projects. I will also ask for my tech by name. If you are looking for quality, customer service and good value, Artisan is your company. I am so glad I joined Angie's List and found Artisan....it is a keeper!!!

Excellent experience ? showed up on time ? explain pricing and went to work. Did not try to ?up sell? or pad the invoice. These guys will be the first ones I call for the next project.

We were getting ready to close on a new home and needed to get some handi-work done the day we closed. We had to get a pet-door installed and the concrete floor tiled in an outside room area which was going to become a home for our cats. Jimmy is the technician who did the service for us that day. He was excellent. He did the work in a timely fashion, and left the work area neat and tidy. He was on time and the price was very reasonable. We have some other handiwork that will need to be done and we will not hesitate to call Artisan again. Their contractors are reliable, eager to work, and qualified to get the job done right. We recommend the company highly!

Prep work was done carefully, and everything was cleaned up afterwards. Our dining room floor is wood and no splotches were left anywhere. Painter was done in one day. Great job.

I spoke to at least 7 contractors prior to speaking with Jimmy. All of them acted like they were too good for the job or they did not want to travel to my house in Prosper to do the work...what a joke. As soon as I spoke to Jimmy, he seem intent and eager to discuss my concerns with me. He spent at least 10 minutes with me on the phone to talk me through how his company works and gave me an estimate on how much the repair cost was. He was able to send a guy out the next day at 730am to resolve my problems. The contractor arrived on time and was quick to get started. All issues were resolved and the contractor cleaned up after himself before leaving. I definitely would not hesitate to use this company again for projects large and small.

They were extremely helpful, very communicative and they were responsive. They provided insight regarding the job and gave recommendations on material selections.

Cliff showed up right on time. I went through my list of needed repairs. He then left and went to purchase the needed materials. He returned a while later and started off right away with the concrete patching. He next started on the garage door woodwork. Initially he planned on removing only the rotted portion of the 1 door's trim, but after a fair amount of work and time decided that it'd be better to replace the entire trim boards, as the original boards were more rotten than anticipated. He showed me the wood and explained how the builder had neglected to apply sealant to the wood and that was why it had rotted. He then left to go buy the other needed materials (off the clock). He returned @ 30 minutes later and resumed working on the garage door trim. I supplied the paint, which was left-over from when the house was painted this spring. Cliff replaced a faulty ball catch mechanism on my French door. He also repaired a soffit vent which had bent slats. We discussed this and elected just to have him bend out the slats with a screwdriver, rather than replacing the vent altogether. The quality of Cliff's work was very good. The garage door trim looks great. I was slightly disappointed with the way the vent turned out, as it looks markedly different from the other vents. Perhaps my expectation that it would look good as new was too high. I also was slightly disappointed in the overall bill. The total turned out to be right around what was quoted to me by Jimmy, but that quote included replacing a cabinet microwave (which I decided to hold off on doing). I had received a quote from another company for $390 to do exactly the work that Cliff performed, but which included replacing the trim on both doors, along with outright replacing the soffit vent. Certainly the fact that more of the trim was rotten than anticipated played a part in the larger bill than expected. Lastly, I was slightly disappointed in the (lack of) cleanup. The cement/grass materials that were removed from the foundation patch work were left. I cleaned that up myself. My girlfriend and I swept up the trash from the garage trim work. Cliff did help me out by taking the old rotted wood trim pieces.

Cliff showed up right on time. I showed him the area I needed washed, all around my front entryway. He power-washed the old swallow's nest away along with the bird-droppings below and all around the front doorway. He did a great job. The job took @ 1 hour.

Jimmy gave me a detailed quote (by email) on repairing the door, going through all of the steps that would be involved so I wouldn't be surprised. Greg showed up right on time. He did a great job. First, he removed the door. Next he taped up some plastic over the doorway to prevent bugs coming in and lessen the loss of a/c. He then worked on sanding the door, removing the old stain and repairing the areas that had cracked. He then applied new stain, let it dry and then rehang the door. He also replaced the floorboard, which had rotted in places. The job went extremely well. The total cost came slightly under the quoted estimate. Greg was very friendly and professional and did an outstanding job both on the actual work and also cleaning up. He showed me how to reapply the weatherstripping around the door, saving me money. I reapplied the weatherstripping once the door had dried completely. The only reason I gave them a 'B' for quality is that the stain on the door ended up considerably darker than the cherry color I'd requested. I still like my repaired door, however.

The owner of the company is very professional, knowledgable and clear communicator. The carpenter who came out to do the repair was skilled, clean, and personable. I really like this company and intend to use them again.

They were friendly, professional and arrived on time. They did good work.

He was wonderful. Every time I walk by the doors, I'm proud. He did an excellent job. We want to remodel our bathrooms and had him give us an estimate on that. He is very knowledgeable and good at what he does. He says he has built houses from the ground up. The company seems to have integrity. He was honest. And the price was fair.

After a bad experience with a contractor from this company and ($230 spent), I was uncertain if I would use this company again. Jimmy, the owner of Artisans, called me for a follow up on the service I received. After we discussed the problems that had occurred, that contractor was let go and I agreed to allow Artisans come to my home and make things right. Jimmy and one other employee, expertly installed a new light fixture over my breakfast table free of charge (a $320 value) and I couldn't be happier with the work they performed. I will definitely use Artisans Home Repair again for all my home repair and remodeling needs. In fact, we already have future plans to make additional improvements to my kitchen lighting.

The company was called to repair a hole in the wall. While the wall was drying, he worked on other maintenance issues around the house that needed repair and finished it all within the hour window. The service man worked fast and did an excellent job with the repairs and the everything looked like new again. This was a great experience and we plan to use this company again.

I described to Jimmy what I wanted to achieve with a custom fireplace mantle shelf made from red oak and stained to match floor colors in the den. I sent Jimmy pictures and measurements of the area to enable him to pre-construct and stain most of the materials. We scheduled an appointment for the installation, however, upon investigation, he discovered he would need to make some modifications and make a 2nd visit. We rescheduled the visit and it took him and a helper just a few hours to install, apply the final stain and polyurethane. The mantle shelf looks outstanding and came out exactly as we had expected. Jimmy cleaned up all of the mess and vacuumed the area and walkways thoroughly. We were extremely pleased with the outcome and job Jimmy and Bill did. They were meticulous and assured every piece fit perfectly.

Bill arrived as expected, surveyed the damage and immediately began his work. Once the damaged soffit was exposed, he found there was insufficient framing to prevent future break-in so he added the frame and custom fit and installed the soffit. I provided matching paint after he primed the new cedar and he applied two coats to ensure it matched the surrounding wood. Bill took special care not to damage the aluminum gutters or roof shingles while he worked. He cleaned up his mess and completed the work within the four hours he anticipated. Job well done!

Eric was scheduled to arrive at 9 am, however he called at 830 and said he arrived early would I mind if if he started early. I was thrilled to have someone anxious to show up on time and ready to work much less early. We had several problems with the cabinet I had ordered for the bathroom because the plumbing didn't line up with the back of the cabinet and the baseboards were in the way to have a flush mount against the wall. He worked with us to come up with the best solution and modified our new cabinet to be placed where we wanted. He was very patient with us the whole time. Jimmy showed up later to help with the other work that required two men. The had to remove a chandelier on an 18ft ceiling which was above curved stairs, add new wire and chain to hang it lower. I had many electricians to the house to give me an estimate on this, none of them would touch the work because of the location above stairwell and the 18ft ceiling. Jimmy and Eric did not miss a beat. They said it was no problem and proved that to be correct. We had ceiling fans installed and removed lighting fixtures from ceiling fans and put on new ceiling fans, They moved a refrigerator upstairs without damaging any walls.I am so please to have finally found a service that is willing to actually work and not find reasons why they can't do a project. You will not be disappointed if you hire them. Great job Jimmy & Eric!

We called Jimmy for an estimate for the work as a result of his reviews on Angie's list. From the very beginning he was courteous, attentive to our needs, and very responsive. His estimate was very reasonable, and we were confident after talking with Jimmy that who was sent to our house would be skilled at trim carpentry. We really appreciated the time that Jimmy took to find the trim to match what existed in our home. We were putting in new trim as a result of water damage in our home so it was important to find the right trim. Our house is 14 years old and the trim was decorative and larger. Kelly did the work and did an expert job. He was very meticulous and his attention to the detail was very reassuring. The trim work he had to do had a lot of angles and there was a lot of measuring involved. Work was done in the kitchen, area off of pantry and laundry room, long hallway, and small part of the dining room. He also had to do work around several rectangular columns. It was not a simple job. He also did an excellent job with painting and caulking. Kelly was friendly, efficient, and stayed on task. He was on time every day. We would highly recommend Artisan's Home Repair for your needs. It was obvious to us that is very important to Jimmy that any work that is done is high quality. He wants his customers to be happy. He would call periodically during the process to make sure everything was going well, and if we had any questions. He also called after the work was done to make sure things were done to our satisfaction, which they definitely were.

I called Artisans and they gave me an estimate of the work I required. After Brian arrived, I had added more tasks for him to do. He was on time, very professional and being a perfectionist, did a fabulous job. He came back over several days for areas to dry, and fixed everything perfectly. Couldn't be happier!

It was a recommendation from my in laws. They did a lot of different things, like small jobs also but the bathroom was the main thing.
