We had a media cabinet built for our living room and needed to have the a 4' piece of carpet tacked back down to meet the cabinet. Kim at Winston was very accommodating to such a simple task. Kim accommodated my time to meet them and they were fast, and professional. I will definitely use Winston when I install new carpet (next project :D)!

The preparation by my wife and me prior to installation was quite an undertaking. You would not BELIEVE all the "stuff" we had in those bedrooms and especially in my office! But Bob assured us it would be worth it. And he was right! But it was still a trauma, make no mistake about it. I have likened the entire process to turning the entire house upside down and shaking it! It took us nearly a week to prepare for the installation, two days for the installation itself (Winston Floors did this part), and it's taken us nearly a month to begin to put things back together - after purging the tons of "stuff" that we shook out. It's like a major spring cleaning! The installation process itself was amazing to watch. The two guys from Winston Floors, Angel and his brother Nelson, got there about 9:00 AM and began to work immediately moving the furniture out of my office - the first room in the process. These guys really knew what they were doing. They removed the old carpeting and padding and cleaned up the bare floor. By that time the truck with the new carpeting had arrived and they made the rough cuts out in the street in front of our house. It was amazing to watch them work. Then they laid the new padding down and fine cut and fitted the new carpeting into the office. You could really tell these guys were pros at doing this! Once the new carpeting was laid down they cleaned up everything and vacuumed the new carpet clean as a whistle. Then they moved the furniture back into the room, giving me a chance to reconnect my computer equipment that is vital to my life. My computer downtime was about six hours. They worked from room to room over the course of a day and a half. They made sure I could operate my precious computer that first afternoon and we could sleep comfortably in our bed that night. The next day they came back and finished the other rooms. The new carpet made SUCH a difference in the overall appearance of the house! Bob was right - it WAS worth it! When everyone left the afternoon of the s
Description of Work: New carpet in four separate bedrooms. Cost includes both carpeting, pads and installation. About 100 square yards of carpet. Our old carpeting was over 20 years old in terrible shape. It was definitely time for a change! We had some wallpapering and painting to do first, and once we got that done, we called Bob and Kim Winston of Winston Floors to help us develop a reasonable plan of attack for new and very badly needed carpeting. We met with them and they very patiently helped us choose the right carpet - a non-trivial task - and came out to our house and gave us an estimate. Once we knew what was in store for us, we gave them a check to buy the carpet and picked a date for the installation about three weeks in the future. Bob gave us a fairly detailed plan of attack for what my wife and I needed to do prior to the actual carpet installation. We needed to move as much SMALL stuff out of the bedrooms as we could: books, lamps, TV sets, computer and electronic equipment, etc. They would handle the big stuff, like furniture and beds, etc.

Winston Floors sent three people to do the work. They were excellent. They were great; they were fantastic. I liked them a lot because they came on time. They took good care of things. They put plastic sheets to prevent the things around from getting dirty. The work was covered by insurance.

Bob Winston was extremely helpful when we were making our granite selection. They came and measured, made the countertops, and installed them as promised. They were installed in one day. The installers took their time and had a sense of pride in their work. Reuben, the quality insurance person, was at my house for the measuring as well as the installation to insure that everything went smoothly. It was a seemless process, quite pleasant.

I have used Winston Floors before, and as usual, it was a pleasant and flawless process. The installers, Rusty and Josh, were a pleasure to have in my home for 5 days. They were ultra polite and helpful, and their work was beautiful. They took their time and are truly craftsmen. They were very considerate and neat, especially during the demolition stage. I could not have had a better experience.

Called a few different carpet installers. Liked Bob from the beginning. He was very polite, knew a lot about carpets and explained the differences clearly. He guided us and we are thrilled with our color selections and the overall experience. Angel, the installer, couldn't have been more polite and helpful throughout the process. He was trustworthy and I could leave the house when I needed to throughout the three day installation. Winston Floors is a class operation and would be comfortable recommending to others.

Date of installation: December 2008. Carpet has been down for 3 months now. We find that there is still a crunching sound underfoot in many areas in all the rooms when walking on the carpet. Seams in the carpet installation show from EVERY angle and view. Carpet is showing signs of wear (it's just my wife and I - no children or high traffic). There seems to be a round shaped depression - something like a hole - in one of the bedrooms. We've had other Berber carpets installed in other homes and have never heard this crunching sound (we were told this was "top of the line" padding) nor have we ever seen any seams. Could this be the result of poor quality in materials, installation or both?

Date of work: December 2008.? Bob worked very hard with us on the scheduling of the installation as we were having the entire interior of the house being painted at the same time.? He had the shoe mold delivered early so that the painters would be able to paint it before it was installed (a very smart play on his part).? Installation went fine and we love our floor, however, there seems to be a film of some sort in some areas (usually around the borders, but in other spots as well) that makes the floor look dusty.? This film can be removed, so now I am on my hands and knees scrubbing it (gently, as I don't want to damage the wood).????? ???
Description of Work: Remove existing wood flooring in kitchen, prep tile area (did not remove tiles as per original quote), prep areas that had been covered with carpets (carpets removed by another contractor) and furnish and install "wide-width authentic handscraped hickory hardwood flooring" in the front entry, walkway, bar, entry closet, hallway to bedrooms, kitchen, breakfast area, dining room, living room and offset to master bedroom.

I called the office and left a message for Kim. When I did not hear from her by late the next morning, I called again and spoke with Kim. I told her what I needed and she said she would call me back within an hour with my appointment. It was finally late in the afternoon when she called. The two men arrived at my house the next morning about 30 minutes late. Other than that, everything went great. I didn't think about the wiring job until they arrived and asked if they could do that as well. They called the office and told me the cost which I approved and they went to work. They did a great job in a reasonable amount of time.
Description of Work: Replaced pad and reattached the carpet in a small hall that had flooded. Repaired carpet in a doorway that cat had scratched and frayed the seam. Pulled up edges of carpet in a large living room, covered stereo and cable wiring and reattached the carpet.

Winston floors quoted a range of possible prices, and the final price came within that range. The workmen were VERY careful to do it right and the job looked tremendous. After they left, I realized that they had inadvertently bunched up the pad under the carpet in one place. I called them back, and they quickly came back out and repaired the pad problem with no difficulty. I wish every business was as easy to deal with as this company. I would definitely use them again and wholeheartedly recommend them to others.
Description of Work: The workmen from Winston Floors stretched a carpet from the master bedroom through the hallway. It requited them to cut the carpet at a seam, and then carefully stretch the carpet to take out the "bubbles" in the carpet in that entire area. This job was especially difficult because they were working around four different doorways, so it had to be done carefully for it to come out perfect.

It was a good experience. The office personnel were polite and helpful. They explained the installer would give me an estimate and if agreed to, would perform the repair right away. I spoke to the office on Tuesday and we agreed on a time Thursday. The installer, Angel, introduced himself when he arrived, but did not tell me his company's name. This wouldn't have mattered except I was expecting 2 different companies to come and give estimates. At first, I wasn't sure who I was dealing with since BOTH installers happened to be named Angel! I finally asked him who he worked for. Next thing I knew, he was bringing in equipment to repair the carpet. However, he had yet to quote me a price. So, I asked and the price was agreeable, so he continued his work. This part was a little weird. If I hadn't been watching closely (I had several different repairmen at the house at once), the work would have been completed before I had agreed to it. It turned out fine, so no worries. Angel and his helper were quick and efficient. The stairs look great and I would definitely use this company again.

Overall experience was great. Bob was very patient with us during the selection process. We are preparing our house to put on the market, but don't have to move so we wanted to install floors that would be what we like, but also would appeal to buyers. We also wanted a reasonable chance at returning the investment in the sale of the house. Bob gave us reasonable options without resorting to builders grade quality. The installation went great with a smooth hand off from one crew to the next (hardwood to carpet). The only hitch was some glue under the wood that took longer to set than expected. It rained hard and all day when they put the wood in. The high humidity that day was the likely culprit. Rusty and Bob both followed up to make sure everything was good. Bottom line was a great look and a near flawless installation. We MIGHT have saved money with someone else, but IF so, I could not have gotten a better overall deal.
Description of Work: Replaced about 80% of all my floors. Total installation included hardwood, carpet, and tile.
