This was the first company that showed up on my Angie's List search, and they have received the Angie's List Super Service award. After reading the reviews, I decided to do business with them. I avoided their web portal completely, because the reviews I read consistently described problems with the on-line scheduling system. I decided instead to call. After making 3 attempts to contact them by phone using their 800 number, and getting hung up on by the prompter each time, I decide to contact the local office directly using the local number. Having the same experience of getting hung-up on at random by the prompter, I decided to try a different phone. Using my second phone, I attempted three more calls, all of which failed. At that point, I decided it was not meant to be, and I moved onto the next company on Angie's list, who ultimately won the business and completed the work. Basically, this company lost the business, because it was impossible to contact them to schedule an appointment.

I just joined Angie's List today to locate a company to service my air conditioner. I located this company and submitted an online request stating that my AC is cooling fine, but the outdoor unit is making a lot of noise and may need to be serviced or cleaned. I had the option of entering a 1st & 2nd choice for appointment date and time, so I entered times for Wednesday 6/1 and Thursday 6/2 (today is a holiday, Monday 5/30). I got a message on my cell phone an hour or so later from a number in another state. The message stated that they could come out tonight (it is already 9 p.m.) and requested that I call back to a local number that they provided. I called the local number and the representative was very unfriendly and didn't seem to have any idea what I was talking about. I told her that I requested service for one day this week and do not need anyone to come out tonight, as the air conditioner is cooling. She kept saying, "I don't see anything scheduled here." I told her I don't have anything scheduled yet - I was waiting on a call to schedule it but I got a call offering service tonight and I was returning that call to advise that that is not necessary. I don't need an after-hours holiday call just for routine maintenance. She said, "So it's working fine and you don't need anyone to come out now at all?" I said no but she still didn't seem to follow what I was saying, so I told her never mind. Back to the drawing board.

During the January blizzard our heat went out. We called Service experts and they had a service tech (remember snow and ice everywhere) at our house by 6pm. He was able to put a temporary fix on it and said he would be back the next day to fix it. He came back at 2pm the next day to fix it. He did a great job. My son was taking a nap in room right next to where he had to work. He had to take a part out of the system to fix the problem. He did this without waking my son. Great Job.

The installers initially didn't understand how to wire in the humidifier so that it would turn on and off electronically; after my husband told them how to do it, they agreed and went back to redo some of their work. Overall, the work is excellent as is the product. Dana, the sales person, is highly informed and educated about his products. Normally we shop around before buying from the first person (especially on a big purchase), but this time we felt so comfortable with Dana's knowledge, that we didn't shop around.
Description of Work: Old furnace and AC unit replaced with new units and a new humidifier was added along with their top electronic air filter.

The service tech did a complete inspection of my cooling/heating system to determine the problem. After approximately 45 min he was able to tell me that the problem was being caused by a clog which over time had worn a part on my exterior unit. He cleared the clog and recommended replacing the part, which I agreed to, since a second call was inevitable and more expensive. My appointment was scheduled for 4p, but the scheduler called back to ask if he could come earlier. Mike arrived promptly and went right to work. He was clearly perplexed but took time to explain his steps as he checked each part. I appreciate that he didn't act like I was bothering him to ask my questions.

I called my home warranty service about my A/C not working. They assigned one of their approved contractors who no-showed. I was on my fifth day of no A/C when the home warranty service approved me to find my own vendor. Keep in mind, this was on a Saturday at noon. I hung up with them, hit Angie's List and found Service Experts. I called and had a technician in my home by 2pm - no rush charges, weekend charges. He was able to troubleshoot fairly quickly that it was the fan control board. He bypassed the non-functioning control board to get the A/C running again as the part needed to be ordered. I called back on Monday for status - no board. Called on Tuesday - no board. Then received a call later Tuesday that the board was in and that they could be at my house by 4pm. The same technician came out and quickly installed the board. Everything appeared to be working as planned and he left. Later that evening (8:30 pm) we came to realize that the A/C was no longer working. I called Service Experts back expecting a "we'll get someone out there tomorrow." But I was delighted with the response "Oh. I'm so sorry to hear that. I'll get our on call technician out there as soon as possible." And sure enough, that same night, the technician came out and fixed the problem. (A couple of loose wires.) Overall, it was an extremely pleasant experience with Service Experts. As with anything, sometimes things go wrong (loose wires on the install), but to have them spring into action at 8:30 pm at night and ensure we had A/C fixed that day really says a lot about this company. Thank you Service Experts - and thank you Angie's List for pointing me in the right direction. Side note: Some (not all) of their call center staff is very "call center" like. Repeating everything you say and giving you rote responses. But the actual technicians/service provided is exceptional.
Description of Work: Troubleshoot A/C system to determine it was the fan control board. Ordered part & came back and installed. In the interim, they were able to bypass the fan control board so we had A/C over the weekend.

The technician left without resolving any issues.
Description of Work: 8/5/2010 - Once again we are having issues with unit that Kruger installed during construction 1. Temp will not come down less than 78 degrees when set to 75 a. Resolution – Technician “Nothing is wrong it is normal this time of year” 2. Downstairs damper will not open a. Resolution – Computer says the damper is working (Never mind the lack of air coming from the vents) Technician never got in the attic to check damper 3. Compressor makes a loud clumping noise when it turns on a. Resolution – Technician “Can't find anything wrong” 4. Blower unit rattles a. Resolution – Tech “When I put my hand on it, it stops” 5. Thermostat reads in recovery mode a. Technician “Can't find anything wrong”” 6. Control unit reads purging a. Resolution – Technician “Can't find anything wrong” I had the technician call his supervisor and after a lengthily discussion he agreed that the technician would have to actually get in the attic to diagnose an issue with the damper motor. I told him that I wanted another tech to come out and he stated that I would need to pay the technician $99 for his diagnosis. I told him I would be glad to pay when the issue was diagnosed and fixed. He stated, “we will see if anyone shows to fix it if you don’t pay tonight”. The technician left without resolving any issues.

E-mailed the provider using the link on their profile page. Gave them two days to respond and then I e-mailed them again. No reply. Not impressed at all by companies who list e-mail addresses as a means of contact and then they never reply to e-mails. Will not bother e-mailing a 3rd time. (no their replies did not go to spam, I do not have any spam filtering on the address I used)

Called on June 1, 2010 to setup an appt. for A/C check. The service rep asked for an explanation of any symptoms and I responded that my A/C was cooling but not as well as it should but during our conversation the service rep appeared to have a difficult time hearing me as I had to repeat requested information several times. I had to phonetically spell out my name, address and contact info multiple times, with the service rep repeating it back to me. After the arduous process of setting up an appt., the service rep informed me that on the day of the appt. I should expect a call from the service tech and also receive an email confirming my appt.. I asked the customer service rep if I would be able to use the coupon for their Angie?s List customers, the service rep had never heard of Angie?s List. Later in the day, I did receive the confirmation email as promised. The email contained a confirmation number, correct appt. time and date but did not list customer address nor contact information and the company?s website has no place to confirm customer information was recorded correctly?? I mention this because I noticed my first name was misspelled. On the day of my scheduled appt., the service tech did not appear nor call during scheduled service time interval. I called the company and explained to the service rep that my scheduled service time had lapsed. During our conversation, the service rep confirmed my address and contact information but my phone number was not recorded correctly. The service rep explained that since my phone number was not correct and the service tech could not contact me my appt. was basically passed over. The service rep offered to contact the service tech to determine if my appt. could still be kept and call me back. After about fifteen minutes the service rep did call me back (at the correct phone number) and explained that she was not able to contact the service tech but had left a message for him. She offered to setup another appt. but I requested to know if it would be possible to get service on the day of my appt.. The service rep told me to call the service center back in two hours if the service tech did not call me first. After two hours elapsed with no call from the service tech, I called the service center again. I explained the situation to the service rep who again confirmed my address and contact information. Unfortunately, my phone number was still incorrect in their system. The service rep attempted to contact the service tech while I held on the phone. The service rep came back on the line and reported that he was not able to contact the service tech but had left a msg and promised I should receive a call shortly. This has been an eight hour ordeal and have yet to receive a call from the service tech and doubt I ever will. I have decided to try my luck with another company.

Super nice technician -seemed very knowledgeable and fair about our repairs. Didn't try to sell us anything. Living in Texas we have used several AC companies over the years and we've finally found one we will stick with.

The appointment time slot was 2-4pm but at 4pm no one had arrived and I had received no phone call. Hence I ding them on punctuality.I called at 4pm and was told he was on his way - he arrived about 4:20pm. Once here he went right to work and spent a little more than 2 hours cleaning and checking everything. I kept an eye on what he was doing and feel the work was very thorough. Hence I give them a B overall.

They are very good, and the people are always very nice and helpful. They come in, do their job and leave - they don?t waste time. They do a good job and I don?t have any problems because of that. Everything has been working well and they?ve not had to replace anything. They take good care of it and make sure that it?s oiled well. They put their little booties on when they come in the house, and if they make a mess or if any insulation falls off the attic, they make sure that they leave the place clean. I?m very happy with their services, and their price is not bad.
Description of Work: We used Service Experts in 2002 to put in a whole new heating and air conditioning system. They come twice a year to check the furnace and the air conditioner, and replace filters when required.

This was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had dealing with a repair company. From the very beginning the customer rep. answering the phone was very cordial. I called Saturday morning at 9:00 AM and they were able to schedule a tech to come out between 12 and 2. They even sent a confirmation email. The technician (Victor) called 30 minutes before the scheduled time to say he would be there. He arrived promptly and was very professional. He explained everything he was doing and worked very fast. My unit was 7 years old and I was expecting to have to replace the whole unit. He diagnosed that it was the blower motor in less than 5 minutes and completed the entire repair in under 1 hour. I will continue to use Service Experts for all my future needs with A/C. I hope all of their techs are as good as Victor. I imagine everyone there is pretty good since my experience on the phone was also top notch.

They suggested that we needed to get our entire central air-conditioning unit replaced which would cost us $10,000. However I got the problem fixed with another service provider without replacing the unit for about $200. I wouldn t blame the company for giving out the wrong estimate; it s just probably the person who came out was not very knowledgeable. They are very professional but it s just this one time that they sent the wrong technician, however, they are not all bad people.
Description of Work: It had stopped working several times. They do annual maintenance on the unit, so we wanted them come out and give us an estimate on the issue.
