Perfect service call!

A professional, comforting, personable and very reasonably priced experience with John's Appliance Repair, who we will use for all future repairs of our household appliances.

The food in our refrigerator was freezing so I called the day before Thanksgiving and John was able to come out on the day after Thanksgiving. He was on time and diagnosed the problem quickly. We had to wait until the next day for the actual repair as he had to get the part. He showed up when he said he would be there and repaired it quickly. I would definitely hire him again!

The washing machine wasn't filling with water. I called him and he said it would either be the locking mechanism or the control panel. He came out on Monday and diagnosed the problem as having to do with the locking mechanism. He ordered the necessary parts and came back on Wednesday when the parts arrived. On Friday the washing machine was making a funny noise. He came back Saturday morning, took the cover off of my washing machine and diagnosed the problem as a frayed belt. He showed me the problem and trimmed off the fray (were the belt cracked as opposed to frayed we would have had to replace it). This problem had nothing to do with the initial call and had probably been occurring prior to the break, but we hadn't noticed. In spite of all that, he did not charge me for coming back out. As a bonus he was very polite and professional. I will definitely be using him for all of our large appliance repairs going forward.

Called John and left a message. Got a call back with 30 minutes and he guessed it would be the blower switch. Stopped by that same day to confirm and it was the switch. He did not carry that switch on his truck, but ordered it for me and his assistant installed it two days later. Half of the cost was just the GE price for the switch. Downdraft blower is working great now. Very happy with the professional and fast response. $39 dollar trip fee waived if repair is done.

Great. Reasonably priced and I'd definitely use them again. Highly punctual and they were able to fit me in their schedule within 2 days of contacting them. In addition, they work an evening window from 5:00 to 7:00, which made it very convenient to schedule. They seem to embody the quintessential family-owned, service approach, that you don't always in the chains.

Great. Our refrigerator works perfectly, and he was able to tell us the cause of the problem so we can hopefully prevent future problems. He was also friendly and professional.

My Maytag gas dryer stopped heating up. It isn't that old. I emailed John on a Sunday night as I couldn't bring myself to call and bother him on a Sunday. He called me Monday about 9:30am to schedule a time to come by. He asked enough questions to have an idea of the problem. He showed up very promptly. He was friendly but didn't chat my ear off like some do. He went right to work. The dryer started working on it's own, of course. He charge me $43 for the service call and told me what he would need to do if the problem started up again. Sure enough that evening it stopped heating again. I called John back exactly as he'd instructed. He ordered the parts, since we'd already determined what we would do if it started not working again. He showed up a day later, well his very good helper showed up as John told me he would, and installed the parts, checked out the dryer to make sure it worked. I paid the agreed price, that included the original service call amount, no additional added service call amount. His helper was also very good, informative, friendly, but not too friendly. The dryer has been good as new since. I'll call John again for my next repair.

John was able to come the same day I called, and was right on time. He was courteous and very professional and quite pleasant. He asked me a few questions about the washer, then went to work to check it out. He identified the problem, and had the part on his truck. He was able to replace it, tested it, and the whole deal was done from start to finish in a little less than an hour. I would most definitely call him again.

John came out within an hour of my call. He was clean and professional and a very nice person. He explained what he thought it was and told me how much it would cost to repair. Once he confirmed I had him repair the refrigerator. It has been working flawlessly. Wonderful person to work with.

John was great and honest! He could have done the work but suggested we would be further ahead to just buy a new one and gave me suggestions on what to look for in a new machine. I really appreciated his time.

When John came out and took out the cook top he noticed that the wiring had gotten so hot that it was brittle clear back to the main line. He said he could do the work on the small piece replacement we had previously discussed but felt it was a fire hazard even after that was done. After discussing the pros and cons of moving forward with the work to make it safe I opt to just get a new appliance. He was not pushy to do the extra work and let me make a educated decision. John only charged me for the trip which I thought was so nice since he spent a good piece of time there. He is very knowledgeable and polite and I would definitely have him back.

John quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and scheduled the installation appointment all during his first (diagnostic) visit. Very professional and clearly skilled at diagnosing the problem and identifying a solution. Installation was relatively quick on second visit. However, the ice started jamming a couple of days after the initial installation. Called John and he came over immediately, saw the part had failed, ordered another replacement, and scheduled the installation date - again during this visit. Installation of second replacement went very quickly - and no charge for parts or labor on second install. Excellent service - absolutely will call on John for any other major applicance repairs.

Our microwave/ oven combo stopped working about 2 months ago. The light would come on when the door was opened, but the display was dark. We tried calling other repair companies first, and we asked everyone we knew for references, but none seemed to know what the issue was. I joined Angie's list just to get the name an another quality repair person, and found John's appliance repair. The whole experience was great. When John came out he knew exactly where to look and what to look for. He tried the least expensive repair first, but he had warned us that it might no work. We needed to replace the Motherboard of the unit. He came out that next Saturday, installed the board, and we have been cooking ever since.

Very courteous and knowledgeable. Was able to come out within a few short hours after we called. Arrived exactly within the window he said he would. Cleaned up after himself where he had touched his dirty hands. (Even asked for a bit of cleaner to get the white tile floor clean.) Also made some recommendations for where and how to buy another refrigerator - and how to keep our food from spoiling while we obtain a new one. Honesty and integrity is much appreciated. We will definitely use him if we need other appliances serviced in the future.

John was on time and very friendly and professional. He was very familiar with my model washer and very quickly accessed the problems. He explained everything he was doing and his findings. He called to get an exact quote for the parts needed for the repair and advised me to research the cost of a new washer and think on whether I want to repair. I'll submit another report if I decide to go ahead with the repair.

John was very punctual and tried to find the simple solutions to our problem first, instead of automatically telling me I needed to replace something. He made sure the fan wasn't just stuck and then verified that indeed the motor would need to be replaced. He called and ordered a part while he was still at my house and kept me updated as to when the part would arrive. When the part arrived he was actually able to come earlier than anticipated to replace it. Another thing that was great is that he doesn't charge a service charge like most people I called did and most of the cost I incurred was the cost of the part, not his labor.

John was on time, and I was pleasantly surprised that he was the one actually doing the work. As opposed to other services I've used, and the person who takes the call is entirely different than the person who shows up to perform the work. John was pleasant, clean, prompt, and also provided us with plenty of useful information on future purchases. We will not only recommend him to all our friends and family, but I'm sure we'll need to call on him again ourselves.

John was on time and very friendly. He did great work and guided me on how to make further repairs on my own. He saved me an extra service call by getting an exact quote over the phone before visiting my home.

Called him morning and he was my place in the afternoon. Work was very quick.. he was very professional and he had the parts on hand and was out within an hour. Big companies were quoting $190 for the work but he just charged me $120 and offers same warranty as the big companies!
