We called this company out for a hinge problem on our oven. They diagnosed the problem after taking the door off of our oven and said we needed to order parts to complete the work. The service technician put the door back on improperly and the door fell off and broke the glass. They said that the manufacturer does not make these doors anymore and there was nothing they could do to fix this new damage. They now refuse to respond or do anything about our oven that is now completely out of commission.

John Shafik was supposed to come fix our Ice maker. Liberty Home Guard warrant services assigned them the claim. I believe it is is son Matt who called me on 12/12 and told me they would be here on 12/13. I took the whole day off to wait for them. They never showed up and never called. He called me and left a Voicemail saying they would be there Tuesday the 13th. These inconsiderate and extremely unprofessional people never emailed, texted or called to say they were to unprofessional to show up. If these people are that dishonest, unprofessional and are clearly liars, why would anyone hire them to fix their appliances? How do you trust liars like this? They are pathetic. I lost a whole day of work for these people. They could have at least called. Avoid this company. There are actually honest and professional people who will treat you right.

I called John's to help fix our GE oven that needed a new blower fan. Called and left a message that was returned the next day and was put on the schedule for the repair two days later. That all went great, but the day of the repair no one showed up and no call was made to reschedule. I called again when the end of the repair window was coming up and was told the parts and not arrived and we had been taken off the schedule. We would be called again when the parts arrived, and we would be added back to the schedule. 5 more days passed with no call from Johns, so we called again and left a message and asked for a status with no contact back. I then called A+ Certified Appliance and they had the parts and technician out to repair the ovens within 24 hours. A+ had excellent interaction and communication and our oven is back working again. Not a great experience with Johns but would highly recommend A+ Certified Appliance for their responsiveness and quality of work.

I have used John's twice. The first time I meet Arron, last summer, he helped us repair our Kenmore dryer and I learned how lent can build up inside the dryer and steps needed to remove. This morning, Jan 27, 2021, I called to schedule an appointment and was grateful that thay had availability at 10:00am today. I requested Arron and he arrived at 10am sharp. Looked at my dryer and did the necessary repair. Arron is an excellent technician and always tells you upfront what the issues are and want your cost are and if your money is best spent on repairs or buying a new appliance. I will continue to utilize John as Aaron is hands down the best in the biz. Fair and honesty goes a long way! I would recommend John's appliance and Aaron to anyone who needs a repair.

Called to schedule microwave repair after reading referrals on a FB community group. Pleasant experience with scheduling. Per office assistant, was scheduled with one of their guys who could replace a door switch but typically does not work on microwaves. Repairman called before and arrived within two hour window. Pulled out (built-in) microwave, replaced door switch without any prior testing, plugged into outlet and started...followed by loud pop and spark. Replaced fuse and did same thing again... started microwave followed by another loud pop and spark. Told me that it was an 'internal short' and that it could be more expensive to fix than to just replace. Then charged me $75 for service call. My main issues with this situation are: 1) this microwave worked before, just wouldn't shut off when the door was shut. This exact situation happened a year ago and a different appliance repair company replaced a door switch and its worked fine until now. 2) I called and left a vm at the main number (after this service call, after hours on a Friday) explaining that I was concerned based upon my original conversation with the office assistant that this repairman typically did not work on microwaves. I never received a call back, so I'm still left wondering if it truly is a bad microwave or he just didn't know what he was doing! I am obviously not happy that I had to pay $75 for nothing but I understand that this is standard business. I am more unhappy that I never received a phone call back to talk about this repairman's knowledge and experience repairing microwaves. Unacceptable!

Aaron arrived on time and assessed my dishwasher issue..., which turned out to be the water pump. He was extremely professional and explained that it really wasn't in my best interest to repair the problem due to the cost being $400+. I had already been researching replacing new Bosch dishwashers, but wasn't sure about which one to get. Aaron provided thorough advise regarding the pros & cons of the various models. He even assisted with removing the broken unit because I needed to do some tile work before a new unit could be installed. Excellent job Aaron..., thank you! All I paid for was the inspection fee, but the advise was invaluable.

I recently needed to have my oven repaired. John's Appliance Repair did a great job at a really good price. The technician was 10 minutes late for the original time window, but he had called me well in advance to say he was running late -- I really appreciated that. He was quite knowledgeable and made the repair quickly. The actual repair was less than the estimate I got on the phone -- when does that ever happen? The 10% discount for senior citizens was also very appreciated. I would definitely recommend John's Appliance Repair and use them again.

Awesome - I called John on a Tues for a Fri appt. John was able to squeeze me in the same day because he happened to be working close by my house. John was quickly able to diagnose the problem quickly and even showed me on the old ice maker where the problem was happening and what likely caused the old ice maker to fail. He had the new part with him and was able to install it quickly. He clearly communicated that the new ice maker could take up to 24 hours to start making new ice and if it didn't to simply call him back. Will definitely call him back for my next appliance issue

Response from John's Appliance Repair
Think you have wrong company, I cant find your name or address in computer, also you said we fixed your oven and did not put sink back together??? An oven has nothing to do with your sink??? You gave me a B which is ok, but said in review would not use me again?

See my review for Mark Ondras Plumbing for the actual repairs performed. There was a flooding issue near the HE clothes washer located in the garage. Since there were no other obvious plumbing type symptoms, I started with searching for appliance repairs. I believe John was the one who came out several years ago before the purchase of this current appliance. John was booked too far out to help me during this emergency, but he did refer me to Appliance Rescue Svc. I did call Appliance Rescue Svc as John Martin had recommended, and I described the symptoms to a lady who answered the phone that call [sorry I don't do well remembering names but I think it was Linda? -- whoever the svc mgr was at Appliance Rescue Svc...]; I believe I called their N Dallas phone but apparently any of their locations get routed to the main ofc. The person at that Appliance Rescue listened carefully, then said that it sounded more like a plumbing issue than an appliance issue, so that's when I began the search for an available & reputable plumber [again, see my review for Mark Ondras]. I really appreciate John Martin being both prompt in his callback, as well as being honest enough to tell me right away that he was booked already, but then gave me an alternative source that he trusted. That is huge. I was also pleasantly surprised -- no, shocked -- when any contractor in this case both John Martin, AND then Appliance Rescue were honest enough to suggest that it was likely not their specialty but a plumbing issue. And as it turned out, it was! With all the mostly negative experiences [MANY contractors of all specialties and ilks] I've had for over 35 years as a homeowner of a "less-than" tract house, it was so pleasant to finally find a handful of honorable contractors/repair services who had the integrity I practice myself, and grew up with, my built-in fix-it guy -- my dad! I'll remember to call John Martin or Appliance Rescue Svc for my next appliance repair needs! Now THAT's how to do business, even if it is only "future" biz, not an immediate job! So much appreciated!
Description of Work: Referred me to an honorable alternate svc for possible large appliance [laundry] repair because he was too busy for an appointment right away - rather than string me along & default as has happened with so many other contractors/svcs. Though there was no appointment this time around, it was still a WONDERFUL experience!

I needed three large appliance repairs: refrigerator, oven and garbage disposer. The receptionist explained the service fee structure and set up an appointment within two days. (Note: these repairs were not an emergency.) The repairman arrived promptly and knew what repairs were expected. 1) Refrigerator: He correctly predicted that the drain line from the freezer was clogged, causing moisture to drip from the freezer into the refrigerator compartment below. He cleaned out the drain line, replaced the parts neatly, and the unit now works great. 2) Oven: He discovered that the heating element was burned out (looked frizzled). He came prepared with the replacement part for my oven brand and installed it. Problem solved. (Note: He said after many years oven heating elements eventually burn out, like a light bulb. Makes sense but news to me.) 3) Garbage Disposer: Following a kitchen remodeling project, it developed a terrible grinding noise. Three people (I, the building contractor/handyman and an experienced carpenter/handyman) were unable to see or feel any object in the disposer, even with a flashlight, so I expected the unit would need to be replaced. John repairman inspected it with his flashlight and promptly pulled out a long screw. Wow. It still made a grinding noise, so he removed the disposer, turned it upside down and the screw head fell out. He reinstalled the unit and it works great -- no repair needed. He charged only $40 and saved me the cost of a replacement disposer plus new installation. Excellent. Bottom Line: Very good, knowledgable service for a fair price. (Note: No one I called would give repair estimates over the phone, so it is impossible to compare relative costs to give an accurate price rating.) I will use this repairman again.

Since we had experience with the company and they had a lot of great reviews, I called on 4-1-2013 for an appointment. They were able to schedule the repairman to arrive the next day late in the afternoon. He arrived promptly at the start of the 2-hour time window promised. He diagnosed the problem and let me know the cost to repair it. The dispatcher called me a few days later to advise the part had arrived and schedule Brian's return to install it. He was able to show up a bit earlier than promised and called to let me know. The part was installed and the unit tested within a reasonable time. I have used the dishwasher since and it is working like new.
Description of Work: Brian diagnosed and repaired our Kitchenaid dishwasher. It needed a new motor. He came out on 4-2-2013, diagnosed the problem and offered alternatives (replace motor vs. appliance), ordered the part, and installed it on 4-8-2013.

He was awesome and really great. It was awesome that Angie’s List helped me out. My washer didn’t take much to fix while they were out. He asked if there was anything else since I had paid them for an hour. So he checked on a couple of other things. He was just really nice. It was a pretty nice experience. I read some of the reviews on the website. I called and left a message on a weekend. They called me on Monday. I wasn’t available until Wednesday. So they scheduled me for Wednesday and came out. Everything was really easy and straightforward.

I called John's Appliance after seeing their great ratings. They could not see me the same day but made the appointment for the next day. The serviceman, Aaron, called before he came to my house (as I had requested on the appointment call). He was polite, efficient, and helpful with tips about how to keep my Maytag washer clean, etc. After diagnosing the problem with my washer, he called in to order the part and said he would have to return a few days later to change it out. He gave me an exact quote for how much this would cost. (He did in fact return a few days later to replace the part. He was timely and efficient - in and out in less than 30 mintues on the second visit. I paid the exact amount he had quoted me a few days prior - there were no surprises. My washer now runs like it's new.) On the first visit to my house Aaron also looked at my Bosch dishwasher as it was not sanitizing properly. He listened to my own google-searched diagnosis and then went to work to see what was wrong. I noticed he worked very efficiently and didnt seem to "stall" with time like I feel some servicemen do. He repaired my control board, saving me a couple hundred dollars by not replacing the entire control board. My experience with John's Appliance ranks the highest of any service appointment I have had. They are polite, efficient, and do what they say they will do - from the time of the appointment call to the follow up appointments. I would recommend them to anyone and use them again if needed.
Description of Work: My Bosch dishwasher (6 years old) was not heating to sanitize the dishes. The serviceman who came, Aaron, said it was my control board and changed some parts. My dishwasher works great now. My Maytag front loading washing machine also needed repair. The machine was stopping when I ran either hot or warm water in the wash cycles. The washer was giving me an "F H" signal, which according to the manual indicated a water inlet problem. Aaron spent time checking the machine/testing it and he ordered a new water inlet valve. He returned a few days later to install it. The washer works better than it did a couple years ago. My water flow is much stronger and the hot/warm water works well.
