+ -1 moreWe called for service because my husband had noticed the outdoor AC unit making loud noises and we were worried something was going out - since it's 100 degrees out, we didn't want to deal with that! The technician Chris was on time and SUPER nice. He was unable to find any problems with my unit, so I did have to pay for the $89 service call, but he spent 45 minutes thoroughly checking everything and cleaning everything out. He told me all that he did and everything that was checked, and wrote this up on the receipt as well. He didn't try to tell me something was broken when it wasn't, which I appreciated - although I felt a little dumb for calling for service when everything is apparently working fine! He even covered his shoes with surgical booties when he came in the house. If I do have any issues in the future, I'd be very happy to call this company again.

+ -1 moreWhat a great experience with this company! The technician Craig was on time and very quickly identified the likely cause of my AC unit not turning on. He found frayed wires outside going into the unit that caused a transformer to burn out. The part was $119, and the $89 service call fee was waived with the Angie's List coupon. He repaired the wires and also checked and topped off the freon. Would not hesitate to call on them again.

+ -1 moreI found them on Angie?s List. The air conditioning work was fine. The installation was good. There were some problems with the rebate. They offered me a rebate and they ended up having to give me the money instead of having it from the manufacturer. There was some kind of a mix up between them and the manufacturer. The only other issue I had was that they had to come back and fix something that they had left out. They kind of tore off the door frame a little bit which was the door to the attic. Then they put it back together again and nobody could figure it out. So, they built it for me again. We had a few discussions back and forth, but the unit works fine and I got my rebates. So, I don?t really have any complaints. It was not quite as quick as I thought it was going to be. I shopped around and I thought that the price was good. The workmanship in terms of what I have got seems to be very good. I would use their services again.
Description of Work: Air Today AC & Heating Inc. replaced my entire heating and air conditioning unit along with the compressor towards the end of March. My air conditioning system was broken and the compressor had died. So, I had to buy a whole new unit.

+ -1 moreI did a bit of research on Angie's List prior to selecting a company. I chose Air Today based upon the numerous positive reviews found on this site. Don't let the one bad review fool you, this is a professional and courteous company. Chris was our tech and he didn't try to upsell or suggest anything out of the ordinary. After I explained our problem he was sure that it was just low freon which turned out to be correct. They were able to get me in on the same day I called and dispatch called to keep me informed of arrival times as it was a little bit into the evening because Chris had to make a 40 to 50 mile round trip for a spare part for the job before mine before he came to my home. He got to our house at 6pm and although I'm sure he was tired and ready to get home, he didn't rush anything and took time to answer my questions while maintaining utmost courtesy. The $209 I paid just to get a couple of pounds of freon refilled may seem a little high, but there is a service charge included in that and if I had gone with a maintenance plan ahead of time instead of waiting for a problem to occur, this would have been caught earlier. The price for yearly maintenance is slightly more than I paid and includes a pound of freon charging per year if needed so although I didn't want to part with a couple hundred bucks, it was only my fault for waiting this long and could have been cheaper if I had the units on a maintenance plan earlier. Texas gets hot in the summer but the house is cool once again and I will be using these guys again if I have any other A/C issues.
Description of Work: Our A/C unit began having difficulty keeping the house cool during the warmer afternoons. We hadn't had the freon charged in nearly 5 years and thought that might be the issue. We called Air Today and someone came out later that same afternoon and verified the freon was 2lbs. low and charged it back up. He also noticed a slightly loose cap that he re-affixed during the recharge. The recharge fixed the cooling issues and the unit is once again cooling normally.

+ -1 moreIt went great! The technician Cisco showed up as scheduled and did a great job checking out the unit. He even tolerated all my inquisitive questions with a very friendly disposition. I greatly appreciate Air Today and consider the replacement they did an excellent job! Although I have not seen the improvement in energy costs that other Angie List members have reported, I have seen some improvement and, the unit is keeping the house cooler than the old one with the same thermostat setting.
Description of Work: Air Today came out and performed the fall maintenance service on the unit as part of a service contract issued as part of the original installation.

+ -1 moreI am very pleased. I got my heating bill and there was a definite improvement. I am extremely pleased with what happened. The salesperson did a very good evaluation. He recommended a Rheem system, which I think was a good fit. They handle several different brands and he was very knowledgeable on the different systems, which was quite good. He was very helpful with the rebate paperwork and he did an excellent job there. My rebate has been approved and he helped with that. I couldn't be happier with the results. He was very professional.

+ -1 moreOur HVAC until was not pushing any heat and we were on the brink of below zero temperatures to start that night. I called Air Today and they were able to get a repairman out that afternoon. He assessed the situation and ran back out to buy the replacement motor, returned an hour later and had our heat running less than an hour later. The entire process only took 2 hours. He was very friendly, explained everything thoroughly and even call a couple days later to check on us.

+ -1 moreWhen I bought the house 3 years ago the inspector said the heating unit was missing an air filter. I bought an electrostatic filter and installed it. The Air Today technician figured out that the filter was not actually missing. It turned out that it was still there but had become so clogged and dirty that it had been sucked down into the plenum chamber by the circulating fan. The obstruction reduced air flow and caused the fan to work much harder than it should have and eventually burn out. Now the air flow in my house is at least double what it was.

+ -1 moreI feel so good about the experience. I have been ripped off so many times that it makes you skitterish towards all service people. I liked all the Air Today people. They were low-key not trying to upsell anything but to fit me with the best furnace and a/c for my needs. I feel that I can call Air Today with total assurance that they will provide only what I need at the best possible price with skilled technicians. Danny, the owner, will even check the job afterward to make sure that it meets his high standards. I have never worked with such a reputable company and I highly recommend them... even to my Mother. Now, that's a recommendation!
Description of Work: The first cold snap of the year, I turned on my rheostat to access heat… repeatedly only cold air came out. Ohhhh, noooo. Who to call? I looked at coupons and fliers that come in the packets in the mail and was afraid of being ripped off. I decided to sign-up for Angie’s List to see how that would work. Angie’s List is a great source and I highly recommend them to locate quality services. Air Today, Inc. came with very high scores from both Angies’s List and past customers. The kind woman who answered Air Today’s phone said, “It’s going to get cold tonight so we need to help you right away.” I was shocked when their truck showed up 15 minutes later and it was after 6:00pm! The problem turned out to be a cracked heat exchanger so no possibility of repair. They showed me the crack, explaining that it had likely been occurring for a while so my heat bills would have been high. (They were!) Even worse, they pointed to where flames had repeatedly lapped outside my furnace. There were MANY blackened, burn marks! Very scary! I wondered why previous furnace companies had not noticed it when they serviced the units. They were worried about me not having downstairs heat when the temps were getting very cold. So, that evening, Chuck, Air Today’s customer service manager, arrived. He also checked the furnace, coming to the same conclusion. That meant a lot to me. He’s like everyone’s favorite Uncle who’s not going to let anyone take advantage of you. He had a notebook of the various furnaces, pricing and available rebates. After spending two hours with me, we selected a Rheem. I have two furnace/ac’s in the house and one had been replaced 10 years prior. I recalled the replacement price. Chuck showed me that I had paid the highest price for the lowest quality Rheem! My new furnace was installed the following day. The workmen were courteous, clean, respectful of my property by being careful with their shoes, and not letting my pets out. This time, for less than I paid before, I got the top Rheem. Chuck also found a federal tax credit rebate, Rheem rebate, State of TX cash rebate and later I found a City of Garland gas credit for $500.00!! Air Today had to jump through some loops for me to qualify in the allotted time frames but they did it without charge nor complaint. I have been thrilled with their service! I HIGHLY recommend this company. They did more than I expected, were always on time, did what they said they’d do and repeatedly called to be sure all was going well. Even the owner calls to check how things are going. I am comfortable and know that I have a company who stands behind their products. Should my other furnace go on the fritz, Air Today is who I will call and trust.

+ -1 moreAfter the company sent by my home owners service had made two trips to the house and wanted to charge me at least $200 and maybe as much as a thousand, I dismissed them and called Air Today. They were polite, prompt and great help. Their technician performed the leak check the others wanted to charge $200 for, found that the other company had left the cap to the system loose, found no other leak, cleaned the not seriously dirty coils, filled the freon, and set me up with a twice yearly prevention contract for around $150, much less than the other company wanted just to check the freon system they had left loose so they got a call back. I highly recommend Air today for their honesty, reasonable prices and easiness to work with. Terrific company.

+ -1 moreI will preface that I am an American Home Shield customer and Air Today was sent by AHS for a service call I made on my AC unit. The service tech dispatched was named Cisco. I told him the issues we were having which were 1) the compressing running non-stop, 2) AC not cooling the house and 3) a history of prior technicians recharging the system with R-22 (which I substantiated with 4 receipts to that effect). When Cisco found that the unit was 3 lbs low on R22 he wanted to recharge again and be on his way. I demanded that he authorize a leak search which he refused to do. Only after I got on the phone with AHS myself, explained the situation and then handed the phone to Cisco did he agree to investigate further (although didn't authorize a leak search). Five minutes later he claimed to have found and repaired the leak (leaking valve stem at the compresser). I suspected that he hadn?t repaired anything which was later confirmed by his own co-worker. His colleague eventually found the real leak in the evaporator coil and admitted that the valve stem was never replaced. The company then gave me an outrageous bid of $670 to dispose of my old coil and recapture the R22 (AHS would pick up the tab for the coil itself). Air Today was completely unconcerned about the dishonesty of their own tech (while at the same time never challenging the veracity of my allegations). They also were completely unashamed by the outrageousness of their estimate. I have ultimately decided to hire another firm to make the repair but was so moved by this negative experience that I joined Angie?s List to advise people to steer clear of this shoddy outfit.
Description of Work: The technician claimed to have identified and repaired a R22 leak by replacing the valve stem at the compressor in under five minutes. It is clear based on the leak identified by his colleague subsequently in the evaporator coil and the time that it would have taken him to charge down the system and replace the part that he didn’t in fact repair anything. This was acknowledged by his colleague Chris Casey and was never disputed by the owner in follow up conversations.

The technician listened to my feedback, completed a diagnostic, gave me an accurate estimate and performed timely service. Our replacement part turned out to be under warranty - which we found out thanks to the technician's research. We would recommend and use them again.

+ -1 moreAfter getting bids from multiple contractors we opted to go with Air Today based on reviews here and the price/scope of the work. Our old closet was too small for the new systems so we used someone else to remodel that. Once that was done scheduling was easy, we upgraded from a antique York system to the Carrier Infinity system, with the highest rated Steer rating and a 4 ton system. The installation took a little longer than expected but they did finish that day and we had AC that night. They tried to add new vents in our living room but that didn't work out and they paid for the repair and had a quality company come out where it's almost impossible to see they were even there unless we point it out. One evening the whole system stopped working, I called Cisco around 6:30pm and he was at our house by 7:15pm, the guys that installed it didn't go over all the details and I guess there is a auto off if the water starts backing up in the drain to outside. Cisco promptly fixed the issue with no extra charge and came back after the repair of the wall to make sure we were happy with everything and to do a final review of the system since it was pretty high tech from our antique system. They also helped us with the Texas Rebate program (we were lucky enough to get through on the phone!). Within a few weeks of sending in the paper work I had a free check for $850 in my pocket (not taken off the total above). Sweet deal! Also, probably the BIGGEST improvement is to our power bill. Previous bills in the middle of the summer were $300 to almost $400 for our modest 2000sqft house. We have lots of trees and get a lot of shade so I wasn't expecting much with our power bill but to my surprise our bill didn't go over $140 this year, yes, $140 that was not a typo!!! We are thrilled with our new system, it is a billion times more quite than our old one and we are already seeing a fantastic return on our investment. It also cools fantastic, the air feels more clean and fresh. If you have a system 10 years or older and upgrade to Carriers top of the line I can't understand why you wouldn't be thrilled with everything. I'm looking forward to winter to test out the new furnace!

+ -1 moreCalled in to request someone to take a look at our AC. When talking with them, I mention the Angie's List coupon that says "$300 off complete carrier high efficiency system. FREE service call with repair ($89 value)" The lady confirmed and also said I will get 10% off the service since I'm an Angie's List member. The technician comes out and gives an estimate and says they can get the part and complete the work tomorrow. Then he asked for the $89 service call fee. I told him about this coupon and he said he was not aware of it. So he calls and confirms that this is not the case. Within a minute I get a call from the lady I had spoken with and she said that the $89 service fee is waived with a new system only. She said this was a miscommunication and they will change it on Angie's List. After this I did not want to do business with them since the way they were talking sounded very shady. Gave the guy a check and sent him home. On top of this, the lady on the phone was very nice the first time, but very rude the second time I spoke with her. Will not recommend.

The Technician explained what he found, confirmed the cost of the repair and offered a 10% discount for our referral through Angie's List. We would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Our A/C went out unexpectedly over the July 4th Holiday weekend. Air Today was one of the only companies who would schedule time to come out on Monday, July 5th to service our A/C. The A/C was frozen and required replacement of a damaged part.

Description of Work: Came and did a check up on my AC unit and I signed up for a reg maintenance program. It has been a few years since my AC unit was looked at and it had just that weekend started to underperform. They did a great job cleaning it out and taking care of it, it is back working good as new. I am relieved, I put off doing it because I always thought they would tell me I needed a new system. I am so thankful it is renewed and running well!

+ -1 moreWe left a message on a Wednesday night and were contacted the next day. They were scheduled to come out Friday afternoon. There were several other jobs in front of us and he finally made it at 6PM. He was able to diagnose the problem quickly and determined it was a capacitor and fan motor. Unfortunately, he did not have te fan motor as it was an odd size 1/6hp. He explained that they would order it Monday morning and he would be out to install it Monday afternoon. He can out around 4:30 and had it installed and running in about 1 hour. He was able to use a less expensive motor per Lennox and gave us a discount for using Angie's List. Overall they were professional and trustung and the pricing seemed reasonable.
Description of Work: We had an A/C unit that was not working. It was diagnosed as a capacitor and fan motor issue. They did not have the fan motor on the truck as it was an odd size 1/6 hp. They ordered the part and replaced it on Monday afternoon as promised

+ -1 moreI have an older duct board system attached to an in-ceiling Exchanger. Condensation had leaked back and damaged a portion of the ceiling. I had taken apart the ceiling to totally expose the ductwork. The Air Today Rep gave me some options that he felt might work to fix the problem but never came through with a quote. The next company had to rebook for medical reasons . The third company came out, gave me a very reasonable quote and was willing to reseal the ductwork, re-level the Exchange unit, replace the rusted access panel with a 1 year maintenance contract for $540.00 and do it right away. It is a done deal now
Description of Work: The Rep came out to estimate the cost of repair/replace AC ductwork in an open ceiling and replace the overhead access panel. He said he would email a quote to me on Monday .. it is now Friday and the work has been completed by another company .. still no email or phone call

+ -1 moreI called and the tech came out the next day. Fortunately it didn't take long to find out what the problem seemed to be. No promises were made as to whether the suspected part was the only thing needed, but it was necessary to replace to determine if anything else was adding to the problem. It was explained that the part was potentially hard to find but every effort would be made to get the part, and expedite the the delivery of the part. He was successful in getting the part in two days which was appreciated since temps were approaching 100 degrees outside and 90 in the house while the AC was not working. The part was replaced and fortunately there were no other problems and the AC was fixed. There was a mistaken additional charge that we saw after the bill was paid but company issued a refund check immediately when the error was brought to their attention.
Description of Work: Air conditioner was not cooling, technician came out and did some troubleshooting and found out which part was needed. He ordered it and installed it.
