Klock did the electrical work for a bathroom remodel. Walls and ceilings were completely out so they had full access to everything. A timer switch burned out and I went to replace it. Found that they had wired it incorrectly. They had hots from two different circuits feeding each switch in a 3-way circuit. Luckily, it just burned out the switch and not more. When I pulled the switches out of the above box one of the wire connectors simply fell off because it was not installed sufficiently tight. This was a hot so if this had happened when putting everything back into the box it would been an issue(ie fire hazard). The responsiveness score is due to a different issue that occurred before I had discovered the above issues. I had Klock come out and estimate a circuit box upgrade. They recommended just adding a subpanel. I asked an electrician friend who said this was just a shortcut so they didn't have to get a permit. Given that my house doesn't have a master breaker the best answer really should be to replace the main box so that it provided a master breaker. I emailed Klock and asked them to rework the bid. No response after a number of days so I called them and asked for same thing. I explained how how I wanted the bid reworked and they responded that they took notes and Greg would call me back later that day. They never returned the call. The bathroom work was permitted so I didn't expect them to run from permitted work. Not sure if they had some issue with their permits or just didn't want the work. Either way, I would have appreciated a call saying they no longer wanted to take the job so I could go elsewhere. I will not be using them again.

I have used Klock Electric multiple times in the past and have been well satisfied. This time was a bit more uneven. On the original appointment no work was done due to rain, which I understand. The guys that came out the 2nd time were a bit more 'raw' and unprofessional. They hadn't been with Klock very long. They did the work, but there was a lot of yelling for various reasons and arguing. For instance, one time a guy came down out of my attic and yelled 'it's so hot!' or something like that. I understand that it's hot, I've been in plenty of attics, but I don't need a grown man yelling about it, especially when my young children are around. There were issues about supplies not being available in the trucks, not having keys to the truck lockers, unanticipated problems with the attic, stuff like that. I'm paying lots of money for the electrician to deal with these problems, not make them my problem. On the other hand, they got the work done and they generally had a good attitude. The younger guy was really trying to be helpful and positive; the older guy seemed to be having more trouble maintaining a good attitude. My major issue was that they didn't initially put caulk around a hole they drilled in the exterior - because they didn't have any in their trucks. I had to press the older guy pretty firmly and eventually the younger guy found some and they dealt with it. I completely believe that if I hadn't pushed them about it they would have driven away with no caulk around the hole in the side of my house that the conduit ran into, eventually letting rain run down the conduit and into the house. Not ok. I hope Klock is not going downhill by hiring too fast, as I said I've been happy with them in the past. Maybe hire them but keep a close eye on them.

The first thing Jonathan said when he arrived was and quot;replacing this outlet won't take long and you're paying for an hour. Are you having any other electrical problems I can fix while I'm here?and quot; Well, yes, I did -- a couple of switches that at some point relatively soon would need replacing and a couple of lighting fixtures whose bulbs seemed to burn out faster than usual. Got those fixed too plus some good advice on led bulbs. Jonathan was very personable, friendly, helpful and professional. This is the first time I've used Klock Electric but they'll be the company I call to fix any future electrical problems in our home.
Description of Work: Replaced bad GFCI outlet and checked several other outlets, switches, and light fixtures we've been having small problems with. Fixed those too.

Professional service. I was given choice to choose plastic or metal anchors inside the ceiling fan. It was good to know that builders put in plastic anchors inside the ceiling vault for fans which are not long lasting. The service man also put together a new fancy Hunter fan with double light kit with remote which was complicated for our living room. He was patient and did it thoroughly well. Altogether outstanding service from a company who knows it craft well. Update - 2 months later, the ceiling fan in the study gave a buzzing sound which felt something was wrong. I called Klock and Vaughn within the 3 month warranty on parts and labor. Their service person came to re-check and fixed the issue satisfactorily.
Description of Work: Replaced and interchanged ceiling fans with a new one in living room and study. This was in May 2012.

Could not ask for better. Jesse called before arriving, and arrived on time. He worked all day, through to 6pm, but finished the job as promised. Extremely polite, very professional. Work was done with great quality, and I am already setting up my next appointment for some additional work to be done. Price was over 1000$ LESS than a competitor. Jesse explained everything he did, and showed me how the new timer switch worked. I don't see any reason to call anyone else if you need electrical work done, unless you can get it for free.
Description of Work: Installed under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen. New outlets for over-counter lighting. Installed 8 can lights in eaves/soffits on house exterior. New Timer/Switch near front door to control exterior lights.

I could not be happier with the service. They performed the work quickly and professionally keeping me informed along the way. It turned out that all we needed was to replace the batteries in some of our smoke alarms and the tech did it for us and showed how to do it without resulting in the annoying chirping sound. He also did. Couple last minute things at the end that we added while he was there without a fuss at all. We'd tried another company prior to Klock and all they did was try to tell us how to do things ourselves. I hire contractors because I want the work done for me without feeling like I'm putting someone out. Klock was happy do do even the simplest of tasks and was pleasant while doing it. We will definitely be using them again in the future.

We hired Klock for some work at our previous residence and I made note to be sure to use them again. At the time we weren't members of Angie's List. Their high rating is well deserved. We recently purchased a house that had old smoke detectors and the front door bell didn't work. Klock electrician came over at appropriate appointment time and quickly completed the job. We will be sure to contact them to install our TVs and entertainment equipment. We highly recommend them.

Klock and Electric were great to work with. The guys that came to install were extremely nice, professional, and clean. Their prices for installing can lights are unbeatable ($85/can including materials and labor). We had an initial delay with the type of trim for the can lights which required them to come another day, but in the end it worked out great because we learned more about the different options for LED can lights (where it's better to buy the trim and light together as one package rather than put LED light bulbs into another trim). So we ended up purchasing the LED can lights ourselves (on sale for $23 each) and Klock deducted what they would have paid for the trim and bulb ($12). There were a few areas that will need patching and touch up paint, but I believe that that is expected.
Description of Work: Install 12 can LED lights and miscellaneous electrical work (grounding outlets, rewiring 2 areas)

They proposed a very practical and economical solution to get a new circuit into the kitchen oven by running the wiring from a nearby sub-panel rather than going all the way from the main circuit panel on the exterior of the house. They cut 4 small holes in the sheetrock to run the wiring through the walls, and they saved the cutout pieces to make it easier to repair the walls. I noticed that they even used a heavier gauge wire than required. They disconnected the old oven wiring from the cooktop circuit and installed a new junction box for the separate oven wiring. Since the wiring conduit coming out of the oven didn't seem to be clamped in the direction that would accommodate the installation instructions, they moved the clamp. They put the new junction box in a good position with an elbow connector to make the oven installation go perfectly. Their price was about $200 lower than a quote from another electrician, and they went beyond my expectations.

The GFCI outlets in our house quit working and I thought the master GFCI outlet in our garage was the culprit. That outlet had been replaced in July 2013 by Klock's Electric so I assumed the switch was a faulty one. An electrician came the day after I requested service and found the GFCI outlet was not working because the breaker in the outdoor circuit panel had gone bad. He replaced the 20 A breaker and the GFCI circuits returned to normal. The master GFCI outlet turned out to be fine and did not need to be replaced. The electrian (Jesse) was very cordial and professional. In my opinion the charge of $104 for the service call and breaker was very reasonable; I was expecting the cost to be higher.

I called this provider and was told that they want to charge $100 just to give you a bid for work to be done. NO ONE SHOULD PAY ANY PROVIDER FOR A BID. I think they are illegitimate and I've never paid for a bid in my entire life, including when I managed or Homeowner's Association. If they are charging for bids, they are going to rip you off. Something needs to be done about contractors in Austin and the greater Austin area. They get together for price fixing including charging for bids. As I said above, I've never paid for a bid in my entire life. I think companies like this would be banned.

Great experience from start to finish. On the phone and via email, everyone was responsive and communicative. The site visit was interactive and helpful. We had a lot of questions--they were happy to answer all of them. The estimate was easy to understand. We wanted to buy fixtures we couldn't get at a local hardware store, and Klock advised us on which models would work together. Once all of the lights were delivered we scheduled the work. Two electricians worked as a team, kept dust and drywall invasions to a minimum, and reviewed slight changes to light positions when necessary. We won't hesitate to hire them in the future.
Description of Work: We wanted to overhaul the lighting in our kitchen, master bedroom and bathroom, replacing single dome lights with multiple recessed light fixtures. Klock did a site visit, advised us on our options and light locations, then a team returned and installed all fixtures and dimmers in one day.
