The light bulbs from the strand of lights were just changed by another company 1 month ago. The light bulbs are over $3/piece. He told me he put the old lights in the trash. I looked in the trash and the light bulbs were not there. He demanded to be paid, but he did not fix anything. I called the police, and have a case number. The company has not responded to my lawyer or myself.
Description of Work: I hired them to look at a strand of lights. They had to come back more than once and they did not fix the problem, and I ended up hiring someone else

Response from Klocks Electric
Well now that the police investigation is closed, we will comment on this one: The "strand of lights" mentioned here, was actually over 100 landscaping lights run from 4 1000W low voltage transformers. When we arrived over 3/4 of these lights did not work due mostly to loose connections. We also replaced some sockets and replaced many bulbs. The bulbs were provided by the customer and we used almost all of them. They bulbs were checked with an ohm meter to verify they were expired and thrown away in the customers trash. We also repaired the cord on a cabinet that had been damaged by the customers moving company, something the member (as she's calling herself here) was so excited about because no one before us could fix the problem, according to her. She called to complain on Friday at 2:30am. We deployed the original technician on the next work day first thing in the morning to see if there was a mistake that we had made. The technician found that the transformer was not able to sustain the load being drawn by the number of lights in the strand. The problem only occured after staying on for over 30 mins. The problem is related to the fact that a load calculation was not done when the original "electrician" installed the lights years before. We offered her some solutions to her problem and we didn't even charge her even though it was proven to be no fault of ours. Simply lower a couple of the lights to 20 watt bulbs would have solved the problem or adding a new smaller transformer, but the customer was unwilling to accept any of the options provided. We have not been contacted by her lawyer and have cooperated fully with the Austin Sheriff's Department. The customer refuses to pay us for over 8 hours of troubleshooting and repair. This was an extensive trouble shoot due to the poor insulation and upkeep of the lighting system. It's unfortunate to have an experience like this. It is also unfortunate to have someone refuse to pay us.

All this work was necessary to install a spa out by our pool and because the old breaker box was deemed a "fire hazard"! As work progressed, they were very flexible and able to change/add services as things came up. Such as, I hadn't thought about the interior sub box until they arrived to replace exterior one and they were able to accomodate changing both all in same appointment. They also made several upgrades to bring our home up to current electrical codes. Our control panel for the sprinkler system became inoperable after the new equipment was installed and even though it could have been a coincidence, they adjusted a bit off their price to our satisfaction. Also, we couldn't get a signal on our phone line. They were very concerned and stayed for hours trying to determine the cause... turned out that actually was coincidence! The line was actually severed out in our yard through no fault of theirs! They were knowledgeable and professional. Our "new electricity" is working fantastically!
Description of Work: Replaced old exterior breaker box & interior sub box including city permit and ran new 220 outlet for installation of spa.

Excellent - tech called ahead of time and we met at the old house where he replaced the ballast in the fluorescent fixture. Followed me to the new house nearby, discussed the list, and he got thru them all very efficiently with the work being top-notch. The only issue that came up related to the final price. The original estimate for the job was $465 but involved a few more things that didn't end up needing repair. I paid the tech the full amount and called the owner, Greg regarding the issue. He checked w/his tech regarding the repairs and determined $140 refund was appropriate. I don't blame this issue on Klock, just my hesitance to discuss it with the tech. Greg was great about getting right on the adjustment.
Description of Work: Numerous small repairs needed in a four-year old home we purchased and a repair in our existing home close by. Total time spent at both houses was slightly more than two hours. Items repaired: Old house - replaced a ballast in a fluorescent fixture, laundry room. All the below was in the new house: Sealed the gap in an outside conduit for electrical wires into the house. Replaced an existing non-GFCI outlet in the garage w/a GFCI outlet. Installed an attic light fixture that the builder did not finish during construction (the box was there, but no fixture ever wired in). Repositioned two electrical outlets on sides of a kitchen island that were incorrectly installed and had no cover plates. Repaired a loose outlet in a bedroom and replaced its cracked cover plate.

The work was prompted by a switch (the one to my garbage disposal) which had gone bad. Discussions about other electrical problems, worries, changes, and installations led to the rest of the work that was done. All work (~21 hrs labor) was performed by "Sarge," w/ only ~hr of help from an asst. Sarge was right on time each day, set to work immediately, performed each operation quickly and efficiently, and was just as quick moving to each next task. And he made arrangements to stay late the third day and came by briefly the following day to finish up. Work included indoor and outdoor tasks, work in a hot attic, and work in an uncomfortable crawl space under the house. He explained everything he was doing/had done to my complete satisfaction, and, in doing so, demonstrated a compendium of knowledge and experience I found remarkable and very reassuring. Sarge was the model of professionalism and easy to have around. I also felt completely comfortable leaving him alone in the house while I ran the occasional errand. I'll have him back to the house when I replace refrigerator and oven - to check the outlets behind those appliances.
Description of Work: First Day / $89.00 (standard 1st hour charge). Found garbage disposal O.K. / switch bad. Replaced switch. Tightened connection on outlet for coffee maker, microwave. Offered advice re ceiling fan and bathroom ceiling heater purchases. Second Day / $41.00 (materials1) + $517.00 (labor2) = $558.00 Found bathroom ceiling heater O.K. / wiring incorrect. Fixed wiring. Removed light fixture and installed ceiling fan in home office. Installed remote receiver in ceiling fan. Offered advice re better remote controls available. Repaired loose outlet in bedroom and corrected its reverse polarity wiring. Found very old wiring in another bedroom outlet (cloth-covered wires and no box at all) / pulled new wire to that outlet and installed electrical box for 2-prong plug-ins. Added GFCI protection to outlet for coffee maker and microwave. Found 3 locations in attic where lines that were supposed to terminate in “J-boxes” did not / installed 3 J-boxes. 1Cost of ceiling fan not included. 28hrs by Sarge + an additional hour by an asst. Third day / $82.62 (materials1) + $773.00 (labor2) Added GFCI protection to outdoor outlets. Tightened all connections in laundry room fuse box / added bushings around wires to prevent their being cut against their access holes at the bottom of the box. Added sleeve protection to a naked electrical line running from washing machine in laundry to fuse boxes outside the house. Replaced washing machine plug w/ one up to current code. Re-secured junction box in laundry room (it had been left open with plastic-capped wires exposed and hanging free). Added bushings to access hole. Added GFCI protection to outlet under window in laundry room. Tightened lamp holders and sockets / outdoor flood lights. Raised suspended light in dining room as per request. Added an outlet in the cat room as per request. Replaced receiver for hand-held ceiling fan remote w/ one for wall-mounted control. Installed wall-mounted remote. Replaced rheostat control in living room with single pole switch – as per request. Found another bedroom outlet w/ very old wiring / added box and corrected reverse polarity. Oiled bedroom, kitchen, and living room ceiling fans. Added ground for computer outlet in office / corrected reverse polarity. Replaced 3 prong outlets with proper 2 prong outlets required for 2 wire system in office (1), living room (2), dining room (2), and bedroom (2). Replaced oversized breaker for AC condensor. Tightened all connections in outdoor fuse boxes / added bushings to access holes for wires. Various loose connections and corrected other minor problems in all other electrical outlets, switches, fixtures, fuse boxes. Checked electrical connections to alarm box (long ago removed) in office closet from key pad in dining room. All lines dead. 1 Cost of ceiling fan wall-mounted not included. 2 Includes 11hrs labor!

Greg showed up on time to give me the bid and his crew showed up on time to start work. He was really helpful with me on getting the lowest price possible. I had a guy who could get me discounted parts and Greg said that would be no problem to deduct those costs from the bid. Everything went great. I had a couple of other proposals and this one was the cheapest. I was, however, disappointed with the cosmetic configuration of the pole, but my house was particularly tricky because of the configuration of the gas meter, electric meter, roof and windows. I think they did everything they could to minimize the intrusiveness of the set-up. I would have liked more of an explanation about the reasons why, however. Overall, I had a good experience and I plan to use Klock and Vaughn in the future.

They arrived on time and listened to my problems and made a couple of recommendations. One of them started on the plug and the other gentleman began to troubleshoot the issue with the breaker. He methodically analyzed the problem looking at all of the possibilities and discovered a previous electrician had put a 15 amp breaker that required a 20 amp. I was very happy with everything about the experience.

We had some problems with a new light fixture that knocked out half the electricity on the house. The last guy could not fix the problem and still charged me. I contacted this company after reviewing their reports on the website. I picked these guys for their fine reputation and they truly lived up to their reputation. The electrician showed up on time and was able to fix our problem with 20 minutes. I was expecting more work needed to be done but he had everything fixed and for a lot cheaper than I expected. I will definitely use these guys again. Very professional and very honest.

I contacted Greg late one afternoon and described the problem. He said he'd have someone there the next morning. As promised, Sarge showed up on time and had to do some diagnostic work to determine the source of the problem. Sarge kept me informed frequently and was able to eliminate the source of the problem (water collecting in the switch box on my pool light) and then he installed a new circuit breaker. It took less than one hour. This company was wonderful to work with and I would absolutely use them again.

It went great! They were very professional and quick to come out. Efran did a great job and was very knowledgeable. They charged me by the hour with the first hour having the trip charge in it. I wanted to make sure that this was installed by someone that knew what they were doing. If it were done wrong it would have voided all of my warranties on the new sump pump (very $$$) as well as not have a functioning alarm to go off if the sump pump failed (could end up flooding the house). I feel very comfortable with them and will use them again.
Description of Work: A sump pump alarm panel needed to be connected to an outlet and the float switch. A new breaker was installed as well as new wire to power the float switch on a dedicated circuit. They also installed a GFI receptacle to the outlet that the pump was plugged into.
