Quality heating & A/C company dedicated to serving our customers needs.

"We have used Larry's for decades. When the AC went out, we called them. They installed the outdoor portion less than two years ago and the indoor portion about a month or two ago. Since it's installation a couple of months ago, it has gone out twice. The first time, we were told by an employee that they would be sending someone to properly pressure test the system. That was during the July 4th weekend. They refilled the system without pressure testing for leaks and instead the owner stopped by a few days later and put a gauge on it. He said it was fine. Approximately a week later, an 88 year old woman is sitting in the heat. Again. Furthermore, Their website says call 24 hours. I started calling at 6am. At just before 8, I had to drive up there since nobody answered my calls. This is ridiculous and I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to refill a leaky system without pressure testing. It has all leaked out again. Not good for us or the environment. I would recommend finding someone else to work on your home. The owner himself (not Larry any more, unfortunately) sold us the new system and gave us his word it would be done right. I am very disappointed in the new ownership."

Appliancezone.com is a leading on-line retailer of appliance parts and accessories for do-it-yourself homeowners. Incorporated in 2008, it was started by CEO, Jim Allen and his wife Paula, who operated an appliance repair business for nearly fourteen years prior to starting the internet company Appliance Zone.

"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

"They replaced my main sewage line and broke multiple things from gas to the city connection. Their fixes were poor and somehow past. I took pictures of it because I couldn't believe that a bent plastic piece should be placed on an old metal gas line... After they ruined my gate and yard with out coming back to clean it up they tried to tell me I had a gas leak in my house and to not call the city. I called the city and they found nothing and advised I don't allow them to come back. I tried multiple times to reach a manager or someone other than the secretary, but they were always busy. This is criminal behavior in my book!"

Heating and air conditioning services FAQs

Yes, most states require HVAC technicians to be certified, and for good reason. Hiring an uncertified HVAC pro could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. A certified HVAC technician tackling your home projects protects you as a homeowner.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Certified” badge. Angi Certified businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Knowing how long your existing HVAC units can last is essential to determine if you need a repair or replacement. Typically, most modern air conditioning units can last between 15 to 20 years, and most furnaces can work properly for 15 to 30 years. If your HVAC system is on the older side and you decide to replace one unit, it might make sense to replace both simultaneously to save on costs and future hassle.

While different HVAC contractors might offer higher or lower prices than competitors, the best time to replace your HVAC system is when customer demand is low. The beginning of summer and the beginning of winter bring the most demand for HVAC systems, so if you can, consider replacing your HVAC units in the early spring or fall. Many HVAC companies offer special off-season coupons that help lower the overall cost.

The average cost to hire an HVAC contractor is between $50 and $150 per hour if charging hourly. However, some HVAC contractors will charge a flat fee by the type of service they are performing—for example, an inspection can cost between $150 to $500. Keep in mind that emergency repairs—which are made after business hours or around major holidays—generally cost more than scheduled repairs.

The average cost of HVAC repairs is around $350. However, that price can be as low as $100 or as high as $2,000 or more, depending on the repair. For example, replacing a capacitor is a relatively inexpensive repair, ranging from $100 to $500. However, a compressor repair is a more expensive repair, ranging from $750 to $2,000.
