Tim Milar and his crew did a great job from start to finish. His pricing was very reasonable including accommodating changes made along the way. He did a great job of matching the exposed aggregate finish of the existing driveway and sidewalk. I hope there will be other opportunities in the future to utilize his services.

I had Tim and a few others bid this water drainage job. My driveway is on a slope and all the water rushes down 45' of concrete and ends up in my garage. I custom ordered drain grate that was 1' wide - a large drain. Tim looked at what needed to be done and made some good suggestions that I hadn't thought of. He seemed to be an honest contractor (hard to find those) and said he could start in about 5 weeks or so. I told him that was fine but to keep me on his list in case he had an earlier opening. Luckily for me, he called and was able to start the job about 3+ weeks early. He showed up exactly when he said he would show up. And, his crew showed up on time each and every day until the job was completed. They did not leave my job to go do another job somewhere else. His crew was professional and respected my wishes. My dealings with contractors are sketchy so I popped out frequently to see what was going on. Fortunately, Tim and his crew were thinking the same way I was thinking - "I want it done right the first time." I was pleased to see them doing the job correctly. For instance, they cut a 2' X 45' swath of concrete from in front of the garage doors and needed to pour a lipped channel to hold the new grating. Tim's crew needed to tie the new concrete to the old concrete. So, they drilled holes into the existing concrete every 12" and epoxied 1/2" rebar into the holes. This rebar work was a long, boring chore but they did it exactly right. Tim wasn't afraid to take the time to do it right and didn't rush the crew into making mistakes. The channel drain looks great and can haul off a lot of water that used to be in my garage when it rained. In my case, Tim did not request any money up front - I didn't pay a penny until the job was done, cleanup completed, and they were on their way to the next job. If you are going to do some work, I recommend you give Tim the opportunity to bid the job.

We hired TC Construction to build a large 2 car detached garage. We had a number of contractors that gave us bids on the construction. Tim came over initially to give us a quote on just the foundation. He asked for the opportunity to bid on the entire project. Tim didn't come in as the lowest bid, but after meeting with him again, we felt he was the best for the job. And are we glad we did. Tim and his crew did an excellent job constructing our additional garage. The job consisted of clearing, foundation, garage construction, stucco/stone exterior, and electric/lighting. Tim constantly gave us updates on how the project was progressing so we always knew who would be on the property. Payments were made to Tim as the job progressed, unlike other contractors that want 50% up front. The job was completed in the time frame we expected. We did have a number of days lost because of rain, but who can control the weather! And who in central Texas turns away rain! We would hire Tim again and would highly recommend TC Construction to work on your next project.

Tim and the crew of T-C Construction were extremely professional and the work they did was top-notch. Tim is very responsive and stayed on schedule. He kept us in the loop throughout the process and even took pictures for us since we couldn't be present for the actual concrete pour. He completed a 15' x 31' concrete patio in 1 week. Very pleased with the results and would absolutely use him again and we highly recommend him to our friends and family.

T-C Construction did some nice work for us, and if we ever need concrete work again, or know someone who does, we'd hire them again, or recommend them.
Description of Work: Tim and his crew did a quality job removing and replacing our back patio, front walkway, and driveway.
Our initial contact with Tim began in November 2013. At the time, he indicated he would be able to start our project in the middle of December. Tim texted me a week in advance letting me know that he'd be at our house ready to start the week of December 16th. They showed up promptly at 9am almost every morning until the job was completed. On days of expected bad weather, he'd give me a heads up if they weren't going to come out. And Tim and his crew would work weekends if they actually missed a day due to weather to keep the project on track. Tim was very accommodating by letting me stub in conduit and plumbing as they prepared the form and steel prior to the concrete pour. Tim also provided framing as needed for doors and windows and even installed the windows as they put up the siding. Tim built both the garage and covered patio with roof pitch, cedar fascia and trim, and shingles that matched our house, giving the appearance that they were built with the house. Overall, Tim and his crew were very professional. They completely cleaned the area and groomed the grounds after construction was completed. Tim always let me know ahead of time if they were going to be late because of picking up lumber, or possibly missing a day due to bad weather. Tim also shared thoughts on how the project might be improved. He even came up with a scheme that would organize ceiling joists into beams so that the tongue and groove boards of the patio roof deck could be more visible from the underside. Tim delivered on everything he said he'd do. His communication, punctuality, and quality of work exceeded expectations. We would certainly use Tim and his crew on future projects if possible.
Description of Work: Tim came out to work up an estimate for a garage slab. After several discussions with Tim and reasonable estimates, we hired him and his crew to build a 24'x30' garage and a 16'x18' covered patio.

The front sidewalk leading to the front door was installed by the home builder back in 1994 and had to be repaired by the home builder which never was a good job. Over the last couple of years, more people kept tripping on it as it became more uneven. I called 2 contractors listed within this site and was extremely impressed with Mr. Marlar's professionalism even for this small job and his honest disposition. He showed up promptly and timely to meet me and to share information for the bid. It was an easy decision to hire him once I had my bids. He promised the job completion in two days and it was completed in 2 days. They had to break the old side walk, clean up and prepare the area for the new concrete pour. He was on site for supervision of his staff and the concrete pour and very courteous with us, explaining what would occur next, etc... He never asked for any money up front which is rare for contractors. I realize this was a small job but none-the-less, no money was requested up front. His men were really good at what they did and you could tell they enjoyed their work. We were very pleased with the results of the repair. This is an honest and trustworthy contractor.

First the pros, the contractor arrived when he said, work diligently and did an ok job of clean up. Now the cons, everything went well until the day of the pour. There was a 60% chance of rain that day and he decided to pour anyway. They did not start until about 11:15am, he indicated that was the soonest he could get the concrete delivered. Everything went pretty well for about 2 hours and then the sky opened up and it poured the rain. They had only completed about 2/3 of job so there was a lot of scrambling. Then the problems started to become obvious. He had applied a concrete retardant to slow the cure of the concrete. That did not work. I don't know if he did not put enough on or applied it too late. Once they started scrubbing of the top layer it was obvious they were not going to remove enough to expose the rock. I brought that to the contractor?s attention and he said don't worry we will just scrub it some more. I got so concerned I grabbed a broom and started scrubbing, then I realized it was not coming off. He then said they could fix it the next day with the pressure washer. He did not. I have attached a picture of the new concrete next to the old concrete. One place was under the eve of the home so the rain running off the roof dug a big valley right through the concrete. One corner of the slab is broke off. The contractor did nothing to fix They immediately started removing the forms and I included one picture of a chunk missing from the edge but there are dozens of chunks missing all along the edge. To form up the curved portion of the frame he used a MDF product and it just melted under the rain so the curves are as crooked as a snakes back. The surface is rough, uneven with chucks tore out and mostly gray because they could not get the surface grout off. If I had to rate the entire process I would give it a D-. If I had to rate the quality of the work definite F. I would not recommend him at all because I?m not sure he knew what he?s was doing. So many of what seemed like simple mistakes. It?s hard to believe an experienced concrete contractor could do such poor work.

Response from T-C Construction
In response, when I went to meet with the owner before giving him a price or a scope of work agreement, I told him that I would not be able to match the existing aggregate finish. That the concrete company did not run that rock any more and it would be a different rock. He said that would be fine he just didn't want a large piece of concrete running along side of his house looking like a airport run way. scope of work as per the agreement was as follows: To furnish material and labor for a new concrete drive w/varies slabs -1. remove existing mulch and stockpile on owners property-2. remove two stumps.-3.place and compact base as needed.-4. pour in place concrete drive extensions as per plan drawings provided by owner.-5. concrete to have exposed finish with no sealant.-6. finish will be acid washed. We full fill the scope of work as to the agreement and more; we pulled 4 extra stumps with no extra charge; we poured 23.5 c.yd. at 4" is 1904 s.f. that is more than the agreement of 1660 s.f.at no extra charge; we also pressure wash clean his existing drive of 80' x 12' that was covered with oak pollen and mold at no extra charge. On finishing the acid wash the Ms. said it looked good and the difference in the rock wouldn't matter anyway cause it would just get dirtied again. On the areas that need some dressing up, we would have been more than ready to do that if the owner would have called but he chose not to. Instead he did this review. On the rain, the owner and myself talk before the pour and both were under the ideal that the rain would not hit until 5:00 or 6:00. It would be better to pour under a cloudy sky than 100+ temps. Well the the rain move in about 1:30 with the last truck off loading we could not stop the pour then. I really give it to my crew for they worked right thru the rain and never stop. We work hard thru some heavy down pours and never left the slab and finish a difficult pour. Thanks, O yea 3-B's and 2-F's is a C+

The owner, Tim, came out to assess my situation and prepare a bid. I liked his ideas on how to improve things and his bid seemed fair for the amount of work this would entail. Making the patio drain properly to the yard and the yard drain properly to the street would be a challenge. The house is located at the bottom of a steep hill and the overall grade of my yard tends to make water drain towards the house. All of the work would have to be done by hand since there was no way to bring machinery into my back yard. I decided to make the patio a bit larger and sent him a design change. We decided to make the change and an appropriate change was made to the price of the project. The first order of business was the slab. He excavated down 8 inches, filled with 4" of base and compacted. He then formed and reinforced with rebar every 14" tieing into the original slab every 14" as well. He originally bid the slab with a 'light broom' finish. We decided to change the finish to a smooth finish before pouring the slab. Tim agreed to the finish change and the slab was poured with 4" of concrete. Tim and his crew worked very hard pouring, working and trowling the concrete. After it began to dry later in the evening I bagan to see large trowl marks in the slab. Most of them were not deep enough to feel with your hand but they were clearly visible. I hoped they would disapear as the slab dryed but they did not. See attached pics. They other thing I noticed was the redwood expansion joint did not look as nice as other rewood expansion joints that I have seen before. See attached pics. Someone else told me that the hand trowling should have been followed with some sort of power trowling as the slab set up on the day of the pour to erase any trowl marks made by the hand trowling. I would suggest that if the job is bid for a light broom finish that you not ask them to deviate from that finish. Stucturally I think it is a good slab and looks good from a distance but up close you can see some flaws that should not havebeen there. At this point there is not much that can be done except to maybe paint the slab. At this writing the slab is completly bare and makes things more noticable. Perhaps when all the furnishings are back on the slab the flaws will be less noticable. Tim assured me that the second phase of the project, the landscaping and storm drainage, would go much better. After the slab was cured Tim and his crew returned and using a transit, measured the grade of the yard and the grade of the 'swale' that they cut to drain the water across the yard, around the house and out towards the street where it could drain off. In order to facilitate the drainage they had to remove one dead tree stump, one live cedar tree, stump and all and chip up a curb at the bottom of my fence that was blocking the drainage path. the swale was then blended into the natural landscape of the yard to look like it was meant to be there. The chipped up curb was mortered to make it look like it was poured that way. Every bit of earth that was distured was re-sodded with high quality St.Augustine grass. All in all, Tim, and his crew, were a pleasure to work with. When they left for the day any supplies or tools that stayed at the jobsite were left in a neat orderly fashion. I would, and will, contact him again for future work. I will need a new driveway and sidewalk in a few years and TC Construction will be the first ones I call.

It went well. It started late because of bad weather. Not their fault. I will be using them again for a future project. I was impressed with the work and the price.
Description of Work: His crew installed a 20 x 10 pavers patio for me. They dug out the area, leveled it, and put down the pavers.
Oh, where to start?! They get a AAA rating from start to finish. I had researched all of the driveway people, but knew from the previous reviews that I was probably going to go with Tim, but did call 2 other companies for estimates. The price was very reasonable and it was a plus having someone who could do more than just the driveway. I thought we were going to have to get separate companies to do the other work. The brick planter was broken (not just cracked) in a couple places, so he repaired it with cinder blocks (since it would be nearly impossible to find matching brick on this 50 year old home) and then covered the whole box with a tinted mortar (stucco/adobe) to match the house and drilled weep holes. They removed the dirt, placed a rock drain base and replaced the dirt. I didn't want all of the dirt back in so that I could put in some new potting soil, so they spread the extra dirt in places in the yard that needed it. They had to remove some monkey grass and asked if I wanted to save it. On their own, the guys found some empty containers in the back yard, added dirt and put the plants in them for me. That was so sweet! Now, I can replant them. With the old bushes removed from the planter, we could see how far the extra sidewalk needed to be from halfway down the drive to the walk up to the front door. We wanted this, so that we didn't have to step out of the car onto the grass/mud. Tim had a vision that I lacked in how to put in a couple curves to tie it in with the original walk. Then they replaced the driveway that is large enough to hold 4 cars. I have a thick ground cover around a tree that goes up within inches of the drive, and they didn't harm one leaf of it. I added a sidewalk from the drive around the house into the back yard, so that I could store the trash/recycle bins behind the fence and out of sight. They removed an ugly tree that was in the way. Then they replaced the fence and gate with beautiful cedar pickets. Somewhere in between, they removed the burglar bars that were on the outside of the house, which made window cleaning very difficult. Since we have an alarm system, we don't need these anymore. Tim and the men in his crew were all so nice and did things that were not billed to me, i.e.: They took my spare Saltillo tiles and made a nice walk down the front of the planter box to the water faucet. Where my new sidewalk ended inside the gate, they took my spare cement blocks and made an additional walk that sloped down to the grass, so that the yard guy can roll the mower in more easily. From my new sidewalk inside the gate to the fence, the ground sloped and I knew I didn't want to put a bunch of dirt up next to the fence, so Tim added a couple extra boards, to hold the new dirt that I will get away from the fence. Whenever the workers saw me moving heavy things to get them out of their way, they would promptly come over and do it for me. Sigh! I hope all my future remodeling goes this smoothly! With Angie's List, I'm sure I will! I never would have found T-C Construction without it.
Description of Work: Replaced complete double-wide and depth driveway and one sidewalk up to front door and added two additional sidewalks (including removing a tree that was in the way); repaired and refinished brick planter across front of house; replaced side fence and gate; removed burglar bars from 3 windows and replaced side boards where screws were; and repaired crack between back door and concrete slab porch.

The overall experience couldn't have been more pleasing. Because this is a vacation home for us it was important that we have someone who respected our property as well as stayed on scheduled. This company was excellent at both of these. Even our neighbors complemented this companany on their excellence. We definitely will do business with this company again.
Description of Work: The company performed excellent work in each area. We had the foundation reinforced with additional concrete piers. We added a sidewalk in front of the home and a patio in the back of the home. The workmanship was superb. It was done as scheduled as well as the worksite was kept neat with materials and associated work equipment kept in a organized manner. We then added a bulkhead alongside the river along with a multi level patio and steps. The results were beyond our expectations. The structure was very substantial as well as the architectural features prove to be beautiful.

From start to finish this was a very positive and professional experience. Timothy Marlar was clear to ask questions and ensure there were no surprises for me, or him, as the work unfolded. The work was completed within 3 days. The site was carefully looked after and his team arrived on time, and worked a full day. The new path is great! Exactly as I had envisioned.
Description of Work: T-C Construction came and look at the garden path design, as drawn by our landscape architect, asked follow up questions, and got back to me with a great quote in a short period of time. The team ripped up the old garden path and hauled it away. They mapped out the new path for review, and then pour the new path ensuring that the leveling was appropriate for drainage and everything was in keeping with the initial drawings. They meticulously cleaned up at the end of each day and were very careful in their treatment of the rest of the garden and the new fence columns that had just been put in.

Old driveway was a bigger job than expected as the slab was 7-8 inches thick and it took 2 days, not the one daythat was planned. Tim persisted and completed the tear out. Pour was done on time and rebar was pulled to the middle of the pad. Overall I would hire him again for any work I have.
Description of Work: We had a70 year old drive way removed and new one put in. We made the new wider with no curbs and pitched to drain. Tim is a very professional & honest person. His crew was on time, worked hard all day & stayed on schedule. Clean up after was well done.
