Walter did a great job. He covered his shoes, spread sheets in front of the fireplace to catch any dirt from cleaning the fireplace. He cleaned inside first.

My husband set up the appointment and then Walter came by for an estimate. He was superb about keeping in touch and letting me know what time he would be arriving - he was very respectful of my time throughout the process. He was thorough in his estimate and he did an excellent job of explaining the problem and possible solutions to me. We set an appointment to do the work and he arrived promptly and worked hard until he was finished. We are thrilled with his work and have loved being able to use our fireplace for the first time.

Walter wore shoe covers when in the house; he put down floor covering in the area he was working. He showed me how to close the flue (it had been left open), and was generally very thorough and conscientious.

Walter appeared right on time...a few minutes early as a matter of fact. First he inspected the chimney, then proceeded to clean the accumulation of soot. When the job was done, my living area was as clean as when he walked through the door! We had asked Walter about checking the top of the chimney since we were getting drafts down into the living area. He said that he could put a damper on the top of the chimney that would correct the problem, but that it would be pricey. Or we could just cover the top with a trash bag or some covering, then uncover when we decide to use the fireplace again. No pressure one way or the other, just provided the facts, which we appreciated. Excellent experience with this company!

very professional in scheduling and rescheduling due to severe weather conditions. Prompt and efficient in getting the job done. They also checked my chimneys, and advised that no chimney sweep work was required; I appreciate the honesty. Pricing seemed reasonable.

An appointment was made to have a chimney cleaned and chimney cap evaluated. We were told the chimney could not be cleaned satisfactorily due to the presence of a fireplace insert. The provider pulled the insert part way of of the fireplace and left it there because it was too heavy for two people to move. We were advised that the insert was installed incorrectly (the fireplace insert had been working fine for years). The price quoted for cleaning and cap repair was extremely high. We were left with the insert pulled part way out of the fireplace so that the fireplace was not usable (the damper could not even be closed), and we were charged $80 for no work performed.

Contacted to get an estimate on chimney repair. We exchanged emails regarding the type of house, fireplace, and location and I was told that the earliest he could come out and take a look in order to provide an estimate would be 10 Dec. Further emails and calls to confirm the 10th went unanswered and unreturned.

Even though Capital Chimney's cost was higher than some competitors, we felt that Walter was the most knowledgeable about the repairs we needed. He was quick to schedule appointments soon after we called. The existing chimney looks great with a new cap and power washed. With the new fireplace, Walter knew right away what the problem was and after the fix it no longer smokes as badly. Walter was great to work with and we will continue to use Capital Chimney in the future.

I appreciated that he told me that our chimney was safe and I could go another year or two before cleaning. No presure to get it cleaned that day, although I did.

I felt their estimate was quite high. I went ahead with the work as he guaranteed I would no longer have any leaks. Unfortunately, I continued to have leaks. He came out with a helper and again attempted addressed the issue. I received a bill, which I refused to pay. If I didn't have anymore leaks I would surely pay it, but the leak returned. I contacted him again and he explained the leak was due to the recent bad storm. We agreed to wait for the next bad spell of weather. We're in an area that doesn't get much bad weather, so we're currently in limbo.

As drama free as can be. Showed up on time for estimate and repair. Quiet, efficient, and repair work was top-notch.

We had a critter in the chimney and he came and dropped a rope down to see if it would crawl out. I pointed out that the wall vent for the attic was broken and he said he'd give me an estimate on replacing it along with installing a chimney cap. He did and I assumed that with a good reputation on this site, the price would be fair. He came back a few days later and put the cap on the chimney and replaced the attic vent (the critter got out via the rope so no work was required there). The work that was done was fine but the receipt I was given did not have the price of the parts or the price of labor, which seemed odd. I then looked up the price of the parts on the website of a home improvement store and I believe I likely overpaid by $200 or more, even allowing for $100 per hour labor charges.

He (I don't recall his name) was very punctual. When he arrived to do the inspection, he laid down a canvas tarp to avoid spilling any ashes or debris on the floor. He then proceeded to check the flue and went into the attic to check for any abnormalities there. While he didn't find anything in need of repair, he did inform us that the gas fire logs that had been installed in the firebox were too big for the unit and removed them for us.

Excellent. Walter arrived when expected, worked energetically, kept focused, thoroughly explained what maintenance and/or repair and cleaning were needed. Very agreeable to work with. Interior and exterior work areas essentially spotless after cleanup. Actual cost exactly matched estimate for work. This job took approximately 4-1/2 hours. Highly recommend this small business to anyone for similar residential work.

I would consider using this company in the future if they contacted me, or actually answered their phone and email.

He came out and gave us an estimate and explained the problem. Had the cap made. Installed the cap. All very easy. Seemed very knowledgeable.

Walter came over and took a look at the problem and then gave me a week to do some last minute trapping to make sure the coons were gone. By the time he got here they were gone and he was able to get in there and get the work done in one day. We will be using him again to install a wood burning fireplace insert in the future.

We think that they did a good job. We were happy with the work. I do believe that the price was a fair price and I would use them again for this sort of thing.

Walter was reliable, pleasant, clean and thorough. I thought the price was on the high side and he compromised with me. It appeared to me that the cost was about $100-150 per hour for labor. He initially proposed to deal with the Raccoon and then we would discuss the cost for any repairs. I came away thinking that the cost of the animal removal would be nominal; something like $50 bucks or so. Instead it was $285.00.

Called to find out if they did this type of work. Left a message on an answering machine. My call was never returned. Found someone else to do the work.
