This homeowner has had multiple problems with his aged system; one of which is an intermittent problem that had been a challenge to diagnose. We had been out on his system three times over the course of three months; not four weeks as stated in the review. The combined total of the repairs we'd made totaled exactly $1048.00; not well over $1500.00. Upon receipt of this review, I personally contacted and met with the homeowner within an hour of reading the negative feedback. What was surprising to me is that almost two months passed between our most recent visit and the receipt of this bad review. The good news is that the intermittent issue was now showing up and his unit was currently not working at all and that's what led him to post the review. That's good news because we can actually diagnose the unit when it's in a failed state. On one of our previous visits, we spent two hours just trying to get the system to malfunction and it worked perfectly. When we met at his home, we were able to pinpoint the cause of the intermittent issue and plot a course to correct the problem. Ouch!! Clearly, we didn't deliver on our comfort promise in this case. I just spoke with this homeowner to see where we went wrong. Unfortunately, during our initial visit for the prospective client, the only thing we did was provide a rough budgetary estimate for a ductless mini-split system addition to a garage conversion. As a rule, we do typically quote on the high side when it comes to budgetary figures. We also made some assumptions in regards to efficiency that added to the estimate. It was more or less a “not to exceed” kind of estimate. I am currently working with this homeowner to get her some hard numbers on a new ductless mini-split system. As with conventional A/C systems, ductless mini-split systems come with a wide range of options and efficiencies. With hindsight being 20/20, we should have never left her home without providing a firm good, better, best scenario with concrete numbers so that all of the options could be considered. With some additional training and preparation, we will be poised to handle ductless mini-split proposals much better from here on out. Rest assured that our pricing is and has always been very competitive for over 56 years and we always deliver exceptional value for your investment. In this particular case, it was part misunderstanding and part lack of due diligence on our part. Each and every one of us at Burnside A/C takes our profession very seriously and we value all of our existing and potential new clients. We will learn from this experience and undoubtedly be better from it. Description of Work: Burnside replaced the outside unit on one of our air conditioning units and on a second visit, replaced the control card in the inside unit of another one of our air conditioning units. We were able to get an appointment the same day we called. All the people who worked on our A/C systems were pleasant, showed up on time or early and for the most part, did good work. We had to do a repair of our own on a duct that they had worked on that disconnected itself up in the attic. We did not feel pressured to buy any particular one of the units they offered and the sales rep was understanding of our wanting to do research on the various models. We ended up getting the mid-grade Lennox and are very happy with how it is working. Even though A/C repair is expensive, the Angie's List coupon and a discount for paying with a check did help.

I generally have very bad experiences with all kinds of service. BUT BURNSIDE (DEAN IN PARTICULAR) WAS FANTASTIC!!! Here's the story: My A/C went down in the heat of Texas summer and I made the unfortunate mistake of calling my home warranty. But the guys my home warranty sent were idiots (they gave the wrong diagnosis and never called me back). Turns out, the coil was under manufacturer warranty so that voided my home warranty anyway. Sigh. At this point, I went around the home warranty and called Burnside. Burnside immediately responded and sent someone out at 7pm on the Friday before the 4th of July. Dean, the service tech that responded, was beyond helpful. In fact, I would go so far as to say he was a lifesaver. He worked and worked and worked to fix the problem. Turns out, it was a simple leak that Dean fixed right then and there. It was NOT the entire coil as the other guy told me. Dean even followed up with me the next day to see how it was working. He was determined that I have my a/c back THAT NIGHT. In summary, my experience was fantastic. And that means a lot from me since I have the worst luck in the entire world when it comes to repairs. I highly recommend Burnside (and Dean in particular)! They will definitely be getting all of my future a/c and heating business. You might be able to find a/c repair services for less, but not that much less to make up for the quality, attention, and professionalism. I trust these guys.

Work was completed in a timely fashion. The work was high qualtity except there was some minor damage to the phlange on the roof. The city inspector found a breaker needed to be replaced but it was replaced in a timely fashion.

I was pleased with the job they did. They came and fixed the issue. They were recommended to me by someone in my office. I had a good experience with them. I wasn't wowed by them. I would recommend checking on Angie's List for any highly rated companies they would like to use.

I have had Donnie Burnside A/C service my Lennox unit for 5 yrs now. The unit is now 16 yrs old and frankly it has to last a lot longer. The price of new units is just staggering and I'm not getting warm fuzzies with the online reviews of many of the new AC units. Many aren't offering any significant rebates either. Burnside is an honest company, which is hard to come by in an AC company. I wish they would give a history of the past work orders to each new tech that comes out to the house. They send them out blind, with no history which can slow things down. I have to remember to explain things to the new tech. I won't hire anyone else, they have to keep this old unit running as long as possible!
Description of Work: Replaced a coil on Lennox A/C unit. Called them out again as the unit was still not cooling properly.

My house air conditioning went out late afternoon on a Friday with it being 100 degrees outside and 93 degrees in the house. I called their dispatcher and was told the next regular appointment was Monday at 11:00 AM. Since it was hot and a Friday night, I asked if there was any premium service available sooner. They told me there would be a premium charge of $129 for a house call instead of $89 regularly. In addition the "flat installation part rates" would be higher. I agreed and within 2.5 hours, the technician arrived. He was very professional and climbed into my 115 degree attic to diagnose the problem. Within a few minutes he knew what the problem was and replaced the blower motor run capacitor. The old capacitor was bulging on the sides and the blower motor only buzzed when this capacitor was connected. From start to finish he had my A/C back running in less than one (1) hour from arrival and within 3.5 hours from my call. Although the part alone is fairly inexpensive (about $7 at a hardware store), the VERY quick service and expertise was well worth the $280 total charge including service call, labor and premium overtime.
Description of Work: Diagnosed broken 10 year old A/C unit. Replaced defective blower motor run capacitor. Service performed as an after-hour premium call at 8:30 PM Friday night. Same company that installed the A/C unit 10 years prior.

I didn't like the service provided by this company. I felt their professionalism was very lacking but their price was not. They didn't seem to concerned with my satisfaction because during the installation process they caused a leak in my pipe system and didn't bother to fix it.
Description of Work: They installed two water heaters in my house. The project took a couple of hours and the water heaters are large.

I do not like to give negative reviews, but feel that I must in this case. We used Burnside for 8 years, since they were the contractor who installed the units when our house was built. They always seemed nice and prompt but their quality of work proved to be incompetent. Due to their poor original installation, water leaked from the overflow valve outside until finally it leaked through the ceiling. In addition, for years we called them out about the upstairs unit not cooling properly. They would say they did not know why it wasn't working and charge it with freon. Finally, this year one of their technicians said that the evaporative coils installed on our units had been found to have a manufacturer's defect years ago. We ended up having another wonderful contractor we found on Angie's List replace the coils for us for just a little over half the price Burnside wanted to charge us.

Company employee was on time and courteous and did not try to sell me more than I needed.

My A/C went out about 11:00AM. I contacted Donnie Burnside at 1:00. The technician was there by 4:00. They returned the next morning at 8:00 to install a new A/C motor. The house was cool again within hours. Donnie Burnside was very responsive, on one of the hottest days of the year(101).
Description of Work: Service Call which determined that a new a/c motor was needed. They returned the next morning to install.
