Very good work done by a professional roofer. The price I agreed to turned out to be more than I thought it should have been after the repair was done.

Obtained quote in November; proceeded with work in January. No delays in either scheduling the quote or starting the work. Job was completed in three days, successfully passed certification for wind insurance. To date, no issues have been noted (no lose shingles have fallen, no leaks found, etc.)

It went well. The company was easy to work with and went the extra mile. Definitely would hire again when I need a new roof.

So far so good. No leaks and just waiting for a really hard rain to tell.

Great job, start to finish. Fast, done in 1 day. Great team, VERY efficient and all extremely courteous and professional. These guys really know what they are doing. I highly recommend them.

Went well. There was a small lack of communication on their part but they took care of it right away, even working on a Saturday to assure it was fixed in a timely manner. The crew was nice and covered my plants to shield from debris and moved my garden items under the porch. After each day at work, they cleaned up and went over area with the magnet to collect nails. I am extremely pleased with them. From beginning of process, dealing with Jon through end dealing with Miguel and Giovani and the crew, it was a wonderful, pain free experience. Highly recommend!

Jerry our salesman was great - straight forward about the products they use, warranty behind their work and follow-up as promised with picking out colors, schedule, etc... Not the lowest price we received but definitely felt the most confident using them due to their BBB and Angie's List ratings in addition to the warranty against leaks. Luis and the crew were professional and completed the roof on the house and shed in one full day. The gutters were installed 4 days later. Very happy with the finished product on everything.

It went very well. The Roofing Company repaired all the problems and charged a very reasonable fee for the extra work that needed to be done over and above the initial fee.

Everything went well, Jerry was very personable and was not push or trash talk other. Just said who they are, what they do, how they do it, and answered any questions I had. Although there price was at the high range of some of the bids I received, Jerry (besides the angies list reviews) was the reason why I went with this company. His team was quick to get the roof done, all done in one day. We had one slight hick up with the roof venting and I called him to ask about it and he immediately agreed it was not done correctly and had it fixed the next day without me having to be there or ask anything else. Overall I was very happy with Jerry and this company and would recommend anyone to use them for their roofing needs.

OK, house is still fairly new so I probably had nothing to worry about, but still I wanted it checked. They came out, took the time to fully inspect and confirm that the roof is indeed in great shape. No pressure to try and sell me something I didnt need, I just wanted peace of mind and I got that in spades!

It turned out pretty good. They gave me all the information that I need. I don't know what they did up there. It was to generate business. So he went up there, looked and came back and gave me an estimate and said he did what he could up there, but I don't know what he did. He wasn't up there that long. He just gave me an estimate. He gave me an estimate for the roof. The big deal was for roof repair and he was saying that he couldn't really do any repair. He just couldn't do whatever he came and he just came down and wrote me an estimate for $6000. I don't know what he did up there. I didn't see him go up there with any products or anything. He just went up there and came back and gave an estimate. My only complaint is they don't honor those big deals and I've bought them before. If I decide to get a roof I will get a couple of estimates and use his as well. He didn't even take a broom up there.

Initial roof repair around roof vent failed to address problem. They had to return and replace two vents to stop leak. We had some communication issues and delays, but work was good and roofer was here on time. Company was very apologetic for delays and refunded portion of price.

It was discovered that a beam next to the chimney was rotted and needed to be replaced. A few decking boards had to be replaced as well. An insurance inspector watched, to be sure all was done right. That was very reassuring. The roof looks great. UPDATE: I was contacted by State Farm. They stated that they received an invoice from the roofing company in the amount $17,000+. The roofer said that State Farm's estimate of $13,000+ was not enough to fix the roof and the sheet rock. Anyway, after a lot of back and forth, we agreed on a mutually acceptable amount (much less than . Although I felt a lot of anquish over this, the roofers listened to my questions,concerns and objections.

John came out, gave a comprehensive bid, talked about other options to consider, wasn't hard-sell, and followed up within a few days. [Ernie Smith and Sons didn't get the job only because a friend with roofing experience did the hour's worth of work in exchange for a nice dinner.]

It has been fine. It was $550 for a square. So far, there's nothing spectacular. They got me a quote. I'm probably going to use them.

Ernie Smith & Sons did a fantastic job! We are very pleased! Emilio and Steven were fantastic supervisors, were always either at the house or available by phone or text. The crew was efficient, on time and courteous. In the office, Terry and Cassaundra were easy to work with and always took our calls immediately. We highly recommend this company!! Finally - a contractor who lives up to its word!

It was probably two months between when I first contacted them and when they came out to do the work. Part of it was definitely my fault (traveling out of town, waiting for other people to come quote the job) but response time from them was anywhere from immediately to 1-2 weeks. When Michael first got on the roof to start the work, he said the roof felt a little soft near the vent (where they were going to do the work). Sure enough, when he started ripping up the shingles, he found that there was a significant amount of rotted plywood underneath. The fact that Michael said it felt soft under his step makes me wonder why the gentleman who quoted the job didn't catch it, but oh well. Because of this discovery, he and his partner had to go buy plywood, but did fix the problem (for an extra $200, which is included in the $1100 I listed above). Minor casualty: they stained my carpet dragging the plywood up my carpet. Overall, the work was done efficiently and well. Roof isn't leaking anymore, so... success. I chose them to do the work because they were the cheapest of the three quotes I received (neither of the other two identified rotted plywood in their quotes either), and because they seemed to have a good grasp of the problem at hand. They also identified the damage in the ridge vent (no one else had), and took pictures of everything, from when they were quoting the job to the finished product. Very professional from beginning to end. As a bonus they pointed out a problem with my A/C that they recommended I get looked at, which turned out to be a very real issue that I eventually got fixed. Original quote was $975, Angie's list coupon for $75 off, and then $200 adder for the plywood damage/repair.

New house construction project and the roof leaked like a sieve due to Builder hiring a shoddy original work crew. Builder was unable to cure so we took matters into our own hands. Angie's List led us to Ernie Smith & Sons Roofing. Met with Sam Smith who did a very thorough assessment of the existing roof problems. Bottom line - the roof was fixed and does not leak so we are happy. Ernie Smith & Sons are not the cheapest roofers in the south Houston area, but they are one of two roofers that we will use exclusively because they have very well trained crews and they do what they say they will do. You'll get no nonsense from the folks at Ernie Smith & Sons Roofing. Note that the roofing crew was usually tardy to our work site and the site manager (Sam) took quite some time to return calls. This is because they were really busy re-roofing the south Houston area after a couple of Spring 2015 hail storms. Although this tardiness delayed our new build project for a total of 6 weeks, we understand that customers must wait their turn, especially if you want one of the best roofers to cure your problems. The stop & start waiting cost us $$$, but that is on the Builder, not on Ernie Smith's roofing crews. We highly recommend Ernie Smith & Sons Roofing.
