Texas Best Fence & Patio

Went extremely well. Job completed in a timely manner.

The overall job went well. Very good quality on fence, stone fireplace and patio structure. Average quality on stamped patio and concrete drive way. Poor quality on flag stone walk way, sprinkler rework and overall clean up, Staff and project manager was attentive to the project and spent sufficient time at the site. The landscaping items were the items they need improvement on. Fence, patio and stone fire place were top quality. We had several people stop by our home and ask to review the fence and patio structure.

It went great. Texas Best Fence was one of three Angie-listed companies I invited to bid a fence rebuild. Gary Jester came out and looked over what I had in mind doing which was rebuilding my cedar fence using the existing cedar posts that (in my opinion) were in reasonably good shape. Gary looked at the job and said they could not reuse the posts. They have had bad experience with reusing old posts. There were a number of good reasons Gary gave for not being able to reuse the old posts so I agreed to forego the reuse of the old posts and ask Gary to just quote me a new fence. Gary was very knowledgeable of, not only fence work, but of construction in general. He gave me some great ideas related to selling my home which was in the near future. Texas Best Fence provides a 10-year warranty with their fences, use #1 cedar and hot coated ring nails, all indicating a good strong fence. I also was looking to have some landscape timbers replaced and was hoping these fence companies would handle it since I carefully picked some that showed to do landscape work, not knowing it was mostly stone work that they do. Bottom-line with Texas Best Fence is they declined replacing the landscape timbers and pointed me to a landscape company or handyman. The chosen company did agree to replacing the landscape timbers and this was a factor in my decision. Texas Best Fence's quote was mid range of the three quotes. The three bids were pretty close with two toward the top end of the range and one significantly lower. Texas Best Fence was the mid range bidder but only a small amount less than the highest bidder. It was significantly higher than the lowest bidder though once the cost of the landscape timber work was removed to provide a fair apple-to-apple comparison.

I want to thank all the people at Texas Best Fence. They are a great bunch of people. Jeff Richards and Kimbra Pervine were great to deal with. Even though I had to postpone the initial installation they work with us and got it rescheduled,and now it is in. The two guys that did the work were great and did a super job!!! I did not get their names but would recommend their work ethics and professionalism to anyone, anytime!!! The fence we had installed looks better than the pictures on their wed page.

Initially, it went well. We thought that Jeff was responsive, knowledgeable, and thorough. The fence was built in a timely manner once we made it on the schedule. What hasn't gone very well is trying to get someone out to complete the automated gate installation. It has now been about month since everything else was done, but we still cannot use our automated gate because they need to install the key pad and set up the automation. We marked the desired location for the keypad several weeks ago for the service person to install if we were not at home, and yet still this job has not been completed. I called again this afternoon to speak with Megan, as she seems to now be the contact for this job, but did not receive a return call. We are becoming increasingly frustrated and hope to have this resolved soon. The rest of the job went well, but we are very disappointed that we have not had this job completed by now. July 23, 2014 - I would like to follow up and say that the owner of the company, Colby, contacted us directly to follow up and make sure that everything that we needed was completed. It was (Jeff had come out and completed the job himself once he learned that we were having problems with the team that was supposed to finish the job). We are happy with our automated gate and new fence, and greatly appreciate that Colby took the time to follow up with us.

Nate gave us the estimate. Nate was very prompt, courteous, and genuinely easy to work with. We enjoyed meeting! Bart Estes performed the work. Again, Bart was very prompt, courteous, and genuinely easy to work with. Bart did an excellent job! He was very thorough and we didn't feel he rushed through it. We would definitely use this company again and have already referred our friends to do business with Texas Best Fence.

The roof itself is really nice. However there was an issue with the way rainwater drained between the old & new roof. We were simply told by TBF, "not our problem". It was a simple fix: two rain diverters at about $7 each - but we had to install them ourselves. It might have been a good, inexpensive way to make a customer happy. But, nooooo. TBF also needs to improve follow up on appointments. There were two rain delays, and no one contacted us to give us a new start date - we had to reach out to them. Another thing: we had a last-minute request to have their electrician contractor install a ceiling fan, but that fell through the cracks as well. After two calls to TBF, we finally got a call from the guy - AND HE WAS AWESOME! No issues at all with the electrician, aces all the way !

7/3/14 ?I discussed my review of Texas Best Fence with Colby, the owner of the company. He listened to my viewpoint and he was genuinely concerned with our experience. Colby offered an amicable compromise of a 50/50 split of the disputed $353. As this was our initial offer to Texas Best Fence my husband and I are quite satisfied with the outcome. In addition, should we decide to utilize Texas Best Fence in the future Colby told me we can work with him directly instead of one of his project managers. Therefore I have changed my review from a ?C? rating to a ?B?. The work was completed in a timely manner. However the workers neglected to attach the handle to front front gate (my husband ended up attaching it). Also, were 3-4 large nails hammered from the outward facing side of the fence which are sticking straight into the inner side of the fence. I found that shoddy workmanship. When the project was done I received a call from "Kimber" informing me an error was made in the calculation of the total price on the contract and we owed over $300 more than expected. I spoke to the owner and told her this was unacceptable and Texas Best Fence should absorb the cost. She told me the actual total on the contract was correct (It was written down incorrectly, on the contract she herself prepared.) but she would not agree to absorb the cost of her error. My husband spoke with her a day or 2 later and offered to split the difference. Still no accommodation. A few nights later we were sitting on our patio and heard a loud 'CRACK'. In checking all of the fence boards I found one had a 9 inch split starting at the bottom of a board. My husband called the company and was instructed to call back in a month and Texas Best Fence would replace any damaged boards. Three boards ended up being replaced.

When the estimator came out, I told him that I needed quotes on both sections and then I would need to talk to both neighbors and decide if they wanted to move forward. I told him that we definitely needed to replace the section that had fallen, but I wanted to do the other section if that neighbor was willing. He was very nice and provided me with a quote and a packet with pictures, references and a copy of their license. Of all the quotes I got, they weren't the cheapest but their work looked the best, plus they came well rated on Angie's list. One neighbor decided to move forward with doing the work, the other did not want to spend that kind of money until it fell. When I contacted Texas Best Fence and told them what was decided, they told me that just the one section was too small for them to do and they wouldn't be able to do it. After some pressing they said they might be able to do it, but it would cost more. He said he would get back to me, but a week has passed and I have not heard back. I felt this was very unprofessional and nowhere in the lovely packet of information did they say that they had a minimum length of fence that they needed to do the job. I moved forward with another contractor. They probably do great work, but even if I need a larger fence job done I would still not contact them because of this experience.

First and foremost, we are very happy with TBF. Our sales rep, Jeff, was personable and professional. He actually listened to what we wanted. Not only did he not try to up-sell us, he saved us literally thousands of dollars (no doubt costing him significant commission) and a tremendous amount of maintenance by recommending stamped concrete as an alternative to stone for the patios. Everyone on the crews was professional and did outstanding work. The only negative is that TBF is terrible at communicating. We had some weather delays on our project, which is totally understandable, but we always had to reach out to TBF to find out when the delayed work would be done. A simple call,text or email saying ?we?ll be there on such and such date? would have gone a long way. The end result is that TBF exceeded our expectations with the work which is nothing short of spectacular. It has truly transformed our outdoor space. On our recommendation, our next door neighbor has already used TBF for gates similar to ours and a fence. We have also recommended TBF to others and will continue to do so.

Nate came out quickly and walked the yard to hear what we wanted done. He then sat down with us and went over everything and gave us the cost of installing the needed fencing. We were put on the schedule once we decided to go with them. The day came and the installers were here on time. There was a problem, but once Nate was called the situation was cleared up in a timely matter and the work proceeded with no further problems. We are very pleased with the quality of materials and work that was done. The installers were courteous and very helpful if we asked any questions. We would definitely use this company again and would recommend them to anyone who would need this type of work.

The workmanship is beautiful. it looks like it was built with the house. Jeff and his team were very friendly and helpful with options. Response time was good. We had a delay due to weather and some other issues, but they came thru and finished the job before my company arrived! The lady in the office could do a better job at hiding her frustration over the phone when talking to a customer, but all the guys doing the actual work were great! we still cannot believe they finished in 3 days! We love our new patio and are very pleased.

After a few phone calls and text messages, the original appointment for a quote was rescheduled twice. At the appointment, I received a written quote which was appreciated. The sales person, Gary, was very helpful on the phone during the quote process. We decided to wait a year or two to move forward on this job due to the cost.

They were the least expensive of the 5 I got. It was fabulous and the price was great. The owner actually came out and did the quote.

This was the first time we used them, and it went well. The service and clean up was good. They were good, they were responsive, and the gate works well.

We live on almost an acre of property which is on a hill and corner lot and was terraced in the back by the previous owners. Since we have a dog, we needed it fenced with a wrought-iron fence (HOA rules) and decided to go back only as far as the third terrace (a considerable distance). We chose a quality fence that wouldn't need maintenance for a number of years. On the day they began, the two men arrived late but completed an 8-hour day, which I learned was the way they worked. Very hardworking, asked questions to verify that the work met my intentions, and answered my questions. The men were very friendly. Four gates were installed, one being a double gate. The work was finished on the fourth day and exceeded our expectations. They started the fence two weeks after I gave the OK (HOA approval) because of a full schedule. We would highly recommend them.

,I chose Texas Best Fence because I was very pleased with Austin who came out and did my estimate. He was very informative and professional, he even sat down and went over everything with me at the same time. I had other companies come out for an estimate and none met with me personally they just emailed the estimate and followed up with a phone call. So I chose Texas Best Fence and the work started. The people who did the actual work were very friendly and worked hard. HOWEVER...when the fence was complete and the money handed over- my whole perception of the company changed. The workers left behind a TON of white rock/concrete (from taking down the old fence), all over my yard bordering the new fence. I asked Austin if that was normal and he said no, that it really should have been cleaned up and told me he'd have a crew over within the week to have it cleaned up. Well 2 weeks later I had to call because it still wasn't cleaned up and I left multiple voice messages for him yet received no call back. I was so tired of looking at it, that I finally went out on the weekend and literally spent hours picking it all up. Which I'm glad I didn't wait longer because mixed in all the rock I found old screws and nails. I have 4 small children and this was a serious hazard. At this same time a piece of the gate (the wood that hold the handle) came completely off. I found this quite unusual since the fence was only 2 weeks old! I called the company again, this time spoke with a woman in the office and told her how unhappy I was, that the rock was never cleaned up and I cleaned it myself and now the brand new fence had something broken already! She said someone would call me to schedule to have it fixed. I never received a call but came home one day to find it "fixed". HOWEVER the same piece is loose again and starting to come off! I don't even want to waste my time calling Texas Best Fence to come out again, I'm thinking of just asking a neighbor friend of mine if he could fix it. I really feel like once this company had my money and the job was "done" they were done and didn't need to follow up and actually finish the job by cleaning up after themselves and fixing the gate problem correctly.

A company representative called and discussed the project size, type of, and type of stain involved. The deck is constructed of ipe, an exotic wood from Central and South America. It's very dense and is guaranteed to last 70 years. It requires special stains because the wood does not absorb a great deal of the stain. After researching the wood and stain, they declined the project because they did not have the expertise to professionally complete the job. They handled my request with respect, courtesy, and complete professionalism. If an opportunity arises in the future, I will call on them again.

The work turned out beautiful and I really love it. They listened to what I had in mind and my concerns about space and if used and came up with a really good plan. I had nothing to compare the price to. He is a craftsman and did a wonderful job and he really knew what he was doing.

Nate arrived promptly and was very professional. I showed him the fence and what I wanted. Additionally, I shared my concerns for the job which he addressed to my satisfaction. He measured and provided a quote. I felt the quote was fair as I have a fairly large yard. I accepted immediately and scheduled the work based on the Angie's List reviews I read. The work is scheduled to be done in the next 4-6 weeks. After the work is complete, I will provide details if there are any issues. I do not anticipate any.

I reached out to Texas Best Fence via their website to get a quote on installing a small section of fence. The section had been removed by the previous homeowners to have some foundation repairs. I received a call from some woman who seemed very distracted, and I was put off by her entire demeanor. This woman started the conversation by saying she was going to refer me to someone else and provided me a name and phone number. I asked why, and she replied, what do you mean? I asked, "why are you referring me to someone else, do you not do fences?", she said, "oh, I thought I started the conversation with that; your job is too small." She never asked for details on the fence. I was fully prepared that when someone comes out to inspect what needed to be done, they would have recommended an entirely new fence. They missed an opportunity to turn a small job into a large one by simply refusing it from the start. It's a shame that they wouldn't even consider my business as I probably need a completely new fence in it's entirety. I have a corner lot that is large by Dallas standards. I certainly will not consider them for my future fence project.

Everything was done well, on time and in a very professional manner. We were very pleased with the gentlemen and their work.

The sales rep showed up on time for the appointment and took measurements as well as pictures of the area to be covered. Said that he would get back to me the following week with an estimate........I'm still waiting to hear back.
