Texas Best Fence & Patio

I was told crew would be at my house after lunch and would call before coming. They actually showed up at 10:30 am without calling. The crew leader asked what was to be done and we went over the estimate. They completed the job in about 4 hours. Overall, a good job.

This project was a nightmare. The initial estimate I was given was about one and a half months to completion. It took 3 and a half months. After the original pour, the patio had MANY chips with grey concrete showing, which I communicated to my salesman. They stated this was not a problem and they would fix it when they came to do the sealing. This did not happen. After sealing, I communicated there was still a problem as the chips were not fixed. It took more than a week for someone to come look at it, at which time they agreed repairs were needed. After waiting another +1 week for the initial repairs to be done, the 'repairs' resulted in sloppy obvious patches darker in color. After contacting owner, waited another +1 week for him to come out. He agreed regarding the issues and stated they would make it right. As it turned out, he was all talk and ZERO follow through. The 2nd attempted repairs resulted in the patio looking worse than before. Once the guy in charge of the work crew saw it, he stated it was terrible and unacceptable and they would have to do any overlay. So, what was supposed to be a brand new patio now has an overlay. After the overlay, there are white patches which do not look good but at this point I was 100% certain they are not capable of quality work. There also was no project manager that checked on anything. The only time I heard from anyone in charge was when I contacted them. Although there is more, I will sum it up by saying although I cannot fix my mistake of hiring them, hopefully I can save someone else the nightmare of hiring these people. If you want a quality stamped concrete patio, look elsewhere!

These guys showed up and from the start we knew they had done 1000’s of these as they knew the price right off, on time and under budget. Colby is a stand up guy and doesn’t stop till he gets it right.

This is my second fence and electric gate with Texas Best Fence. They did such a fantastic job on my first fence when I moved I called them to install a fence and gate. Now my second fence they did a fantastic job. I'm so happy to have found a company that actually does good work and the staff are great to work with. At the end of the day if you need a good quality fence contact them I promise you will be very pleased with their workmanship.

As smooth as possible; they have great office support (Lilly was my contact & answered all my questions) and Sergio, their foreman onsite, was professional & knowledgeable. The moved onsite to begin working very quickly & finished the product in just a couple days. They cleaned-up all their trash, & the finished product looks amazing. No doubt in my mind, Texas Best Fence was the right decision.

I relocated to Flower Mound, Texas in 1999. We had a home built and later decided to add a patio. I learned a lot about what not to do and what to look for after we completed it. The patio was beautiful but had some issues. I later moved to Sachse to an older home and again had a patio built. This was a much better experience as I learned what to look for in a patio builder (don’t use Frank’s brother buzz in a pickup truck that “also does patios”). This time I used a professional patio builder with a real business address and I ended up with a beautifully built patio. I moved to Argyle in 2017 and guess what? We decided to build a patio. We contacted the Sachse builder but they could not travel this far west. ****. I ended up contacting 5 different patio builders. I met with all of them and got quotes. After a lot of analysis and second guessing, we made our choice. I won’t mention the name of the business, but they were located in Argyle. They had a beautiful facility and I was sure they could build a beautiful patio for us. It took a month on emails, texts, and phone calls to finalize the quote. The conversations became very stressful. Everything was complicated. Even the easy stuff. The simplest questions involved someone else calling me back another day. I knew it would be worse once the work started so I decided to go in another direction. I probably lost 2 months with them. I decided against using one of the other 4 quotes. Several of the homes in our neighborhood used Texas Best Fence & Patio. They recommended I call the owner, Colby Coward. I went online and did my research. Nothing but positive reviews and they had some amazing pictures of their work. I called Colby. He came by our home and I explained we wanted a 27’ x 14’ “Hipped” cedar patio with concrete slab, 3 pillars, and 3 ceiling fans. All tied into my current roof and matched perfectly. Did I mention I am OCD? Colby wrote up a quote on the spot, right there. The man with all the answers just gave me a final quote! It was right in the pricing sweet spot and included everything we wanted. We accepted it and construction started soon after. The best part of this project was working with Colby and all the employees at Texas Best Fence & Patio. Many companies will tell you they focus on customer service, but this company really does. What a contrast to the other company who almost built our patio. When you build a patio like this, unforeseen things come up on both sides. Resolving them was ALWAYS VERY simple. Colby would always say “well, what do you want”? I would tell him and that’s what was done. Not once was there a mention of “that would cost extra” or “we need to do something else”, even though I know some changes we made cost more. When the county inspectors came to approve the work, they always mentioned how well the work was done and in most cases exceeded requirements. For example, the footings for our 3 massive columns were dug twice as wide as required. In Texas that’s **** important. The patio was completed on time, exactly on budget and I cannot describe the high quality patio we got without you seeing it. True craftsmanship. We are so happy with our patio. EVERYONE tells us how beautiful it is. Even other contractors who visit us mention it. I cannot recommend Texas Best Fence & Patio enough. If you are looking for a high quality patio, built on time, to budget, and want to look back at building it as a fun experience, these are your people to build your patio. I was very happy with the work performed.

All workers arrived on time, were very professional and helpful. The fence looks great. The only trouble I had was getting in touch with the project manager in a timely manner. I would use Texas Best Fence again in the future.

Texas Best Fence tore down our old fence, built a new 6 ft board on board fence with an electric gate. They worked fast and we are very pleased with our new fence. We got quotes from other companies, but liked how Texas Best did the electric gate better so we went with them! It took about 3 full days to complete the project.

installation went well, service after the sale not good, used second grade knot hole infested red cedar. Someone was supposed to come Friday 7/5/18 to look at fence, no show, was told to take some pics and email them and they would come and replace damaged wood. Now 7/12/18 I've moved everything away from the fence so they could work, they show up a 4:45pm and say they are here just to look at the fence and it will sometime in the following week before they can come back, expecting me to take a day off without pay, they said they don't replace boards with cracked knotholes even with daylight coming thru (so much for my 11,000 privacy fence) only cracked boards. I didn't mention this fence was installed 2/18 and now it's only 7/18. They didn't address any other issues I had with the shoddy workman ship. It's not just the fence boards, the top cap has damaged wood, you can see daylight between some of the joints. Where it transitions from 8ft to 6ft the wood is overhanging, on the 8ft side they didn't set the poles correctly, they are all sleeved and those are not even. They did not come back and clean concrete off the base of the fence poles as they said they would. Stay away, far away from texas best fence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Colby and his crew did a great job. Outstanding workmanship. They were fast efficient and timely. I would definitely hire them again.

Everything went smooth! Estimated 2 days and that’s exactly what it took. We have used them before to build a patio cover and were extremly impressed! Kimbra is great w the customers and stops by to check in before, during and after the project! We’ve recommended them to our friends and neighbors as well! The price is a little higher than the competitors, but the job surpasses the competition!

I didn't even get past the phone call as it was very painful as the young lady did not appear to be listening. I finally gave up and advised her I'd call someone else.

Very happy with the results! Andrea answered my questions and the quote was reasonable (not the lowest). Board on Board, 6 ft, pre-stained. Installation crew was amazing - showed up a couple days late due to rain on a Thursday afternoon to start the fence removal (this included removing an old wooden fort and swing set). Came back on Friday afternoon to get the first set of posts in the ground and finish the removal. Then spend all day Saturday from 7am to 8pm completing the installation. A very hard working group and I would not hesitate to use them again.

Stuart from Texas Best Fence was very knowledgeable and delivered exactly what we were looking for. The Gates look amazing, very happy with the end results. The installers were very professional and they did a great job on our wrought Iron gates and fence. We had one issue come up after the installation we called Stuart and it was taken care of the next day. Texas Best Fence is a great company to work with and a great job all around.

Andrea could not have made the process easier. Crew was quick and professional. No muss, no fuss, and it looks AMAZING.

There were a few hiccups in getting Jeff out to our property but we found him to be professional and knowledgeable and he presented us with an excellent plan to give us what we wanted. His pricing was in line with the three other quotes we received. He was able to offer us a short lead time and we went with Texas Best. The gate looks great and even better, works great. Recommend.

Worst company iv ever worked with owners are crooks.

We're looking to replace the posts on our pergola and then paint. When I called Fri morning I was surprised to hear that they could actually come out that evening to provide an estimate. We had plans, but decided to change them since completing this project was important to us. We were given a window between the hours of 4p-6p. Well, needless not say they were a NO-SHOW, NO-CALL! How unprofessional, and indifferent of our time. No one has even called to apologize or try to reschedule. Very disappointing as we've always heard nothing but great things about this Co. We chose a different vendor.

Texas Best Fence was not the least expensive option I discovered, but their quality was superior; consequently, I chose to have them do my job. I AM VERY HAPPY I DID! The work done by Project Manager/Estimator Andrea and the Crew Supervisor, Luis, was beyond outstanding. From estimating, through permit application, construction and clean-up they were fast, cooedinated, efficient, responsive and VERY professional. You will find no better company to do your job!

After many weeks and too many calls on my part, we never got an estimate. The guys came to our house and discussed what we were looking for. They also asked that I find some examples of balconies and staircases to share them for their estimate. I spent my time looking online for photos of what I would like and provided those. After the agreed upon time we expected an estimate, nothing. Over the next few weeks, I called and asked for our estimate, and of course, the usual runaround you get from usual contractors - we've been busy - we'll get it done by Friday - we'll get it to you next week - oh so and so has it on his desk so I'll let him know to send it out....blah blah blah.....I spent a lot of non-productive time on this company and am spending even more of my valuable time having to write a negative review when I would prefer to write a positive one for a professional organization. I even asked on last follow up call to them to tell me honestly if they won't be able to do the work - and still, they led me on by saying the estimate was on its way. I am hoping they can be honest with clients in the future because competition is tough and there are communicative and honest companies out there. I have since found a professional contractor to do the work we want and is responsive and honest.

The estimate went well, we agreed upon a number and later a date as a pool was being installed at the same time. since the pool installers needed access to the yard we opted to leave (2) sections of fence out until cleanup crew completed the task, about three weeks later the last two sections of fence were finished. The day of completion I asked the crew leader to look at the gate as it was starting to twist and is already almost deflected two inches at the bottom, he took pics and stated he would report to office for attention. That is where the problem started, a week goes by and I have not been contacted so I reach out and the office replied they know nothing about it but would contact crew leader and report back. Monday i receive a call stating the warranty manager will be out to ***** the issue, we agreed to install a latch or a pole, his choice, I said "just make it right for me", he replies he will return in the AM on Tuesday to repair. NO SHOW NO CALL. Wed rolls by and I again reach out to office and the response is " I thought he came out yesterday, hold on while I call him"..." he did not answer his phone but i will reach out and have him call you when he is coming". It is now Thursday PM and still NO SHOW NO CALL, I reach out to Colby for resolution which was followed up by a call from the office stating someone will come out Tuesday and an e-mail with a empty job visit link. So for now i have a temp latch I have for my shed to keep the gate from twisting more until this is resolved, but I cannot exit the yard with this engaged. The following Tuesday a work crew arrives to ***** the issue again, they states it is a pressure treated fence and nothing we can do. I ask “so your telling me your not going to do anything?” He replies “no, call Colby” This prompted a long not so pleasant message to Colby, who responded quickly and arranged for yet another tech to come out. He arrives and we decide on a repair and he will return tomorrow with supplies He did in fact return and made repairs to gate in the form of a 2" x 4" reinforcement for each gate door and a bottom latch tied in to the top with a transfer bar so the two latches work as one and the reinforcements straightened the warped gate in just over an hour, perfect. In all the work was aesthetically pleasing and built correctly, and the owner Colby was a pleasure to work with but some of the crew seems to have a disconnect with reporting issues up stream and a non-ownership issue with the office in the form of following up with the customer. follow-up issues (in my case) were basically blown off blaming the next person in line. (Maybe a Service Manager is needed). I have plans to use them in the future for additional work in the back yard to create an outdoor living area, again as the work is beautiful. But for me, follow-up issues and communication are just as important as the job at hand. Personally I find near two and a half weeks especially in the off season (Feb) for a simple warranty rework unacceptable. I do hope my experience is an isolated incident .

I chose TFB because they pre-stained their wood before installation, so there were no gaps in the stain following a couple of years of weather. After a car crashed into the fence later, I hired them to come back and make repairs. Overall I'm satisfied with the product, but I would have liked thicker boards. They seemed a bit brittle and were no match for a car bumper (but maybe I'm being a nit pick).

My family is loving our new fence! Texas Best Fence went above and beyond our expectations on our fence project. We were not 100% sure on what we wanted for our new fence but our project manager gave us all of our options and price levels. In the end we choose the 8 foot BOB for the extra privacy. We had family in town for the holidays and they raved about our gorgeous new fence. Overall Texas Best Fence is A+ in my book!
