Texas Best Fence & Patio

Not good. They were going to do another repair and they never got back to me. I think I saw a refund come through on that recently. They came out in that first week. They couldn't do just the hundred dollar maintenance. They didn't do anything to the fence. They said it needed more done. They said it was going to cost more and were suppose to get back with me with a quote. They did show up on time when they came the initial visit.

It turned out okay. There was a little bit of disconnect with the office in that I wasn't going to be available when they came to do the estimate and then, it took a little bit of time because I was assuming they were going to do the actual work, which was to adjust the gates. But, they did come last week and they did do the adjustments. They were very on top of that. So, they were fine. It was an okay experience. They didn't charge me anything more. They gave me an estimate also for staining my fence. They just did an analysis of the fence.

We had a pool deck installed by another company...3 weeks later it started cracking, raising, etc...after 3 years of trying to get the deck fixed, I swallowed my pride...realized I got ripped off and moved on....I hired Texas Best Fence to cut the deck away from the original patio, pull up the crumbling decking and install a flagstone strip and French drain...the company took their time to ensure they understood what the issues were and how to fix them....did not rush into chopping up my deck...and did a good job...like any construction, there are a few things here and there that are not perfect, but for having to fixed another companies bad work, I think they did the best anyone could ask for.

I'm fairly happy with the final product. But I had to stay right on top of them the entire time. My contractor Todd was very friendly and tried to make things right, but in the end I was disappointed overall. They had miscommunications with scheduling. I took a day off from work and no one showed up. I complained at the money they cost me and they offered to credit me $200. They probably cost me $600 at work. The deck they built of cedar showed mutliple cracks only 2 weeks after they built. I asked to have the boards replaced and they urged me to wait till spring. They offered to re-stain it and did a horrible job. They promised to return and restain and never did. The pergola was a mess. They removed a porch light on the brick wall and instead of capping it....built the pergola post right next to it. (a serious code violation and fire hazard). An electrician insisted they cap the electric lines. The electrician they contracted to install my fan and electric lines was a nightmare. Extremely rude and would not listen. He did not show up on time....showed up early when no one was home and did the entire job the wrong way because (he wanted to get home early for his fantasy football draft). This required him coming back a week later and me taking ANOTHER day off from work. I had to have an argument with him about the way I wanted it done because he was almost incapable of listening. The top of our pergola was a mess. They used crappy wood....assuming they thought I wouldn't climb up there and look. The wood was not consistently stained and had many cracks and chips. They came back out another day when I refused payment...and replaced the boards I demanded....but didn't re-stain. Again I refused payment until they returned again to re-stain the entire top to match. In the end the final product is nice.....but it's nice because I hounded them to death and refused payment. The company is a disappointment. Crappy scheduling and when things went wrong......I heard nothing from the owner/manager. I was offered a $2000 credit or take my business elsewhere. A good company would have reached out and apologized for the errors, the shortcuts, the poor customer service from the electrician, etc. The plain fact is business is good right now...and they are too busy to care. I would not recommend or use again.

Scheduled for Wednesday, repairman called said he couldn't make Wednesday (the day we were available) but would Thursday work since he was just fixing some gates that didn't latch, we did not need to be present. When I got home on Thursday I found a packet with some fence measurements and my gates still do not latch. Overall not a good experience and I would NOT tell any of my friends to use this service.

Asked for estimate for iron fence, post covers, fire pit and outdoor kitchen. Bid was received and agreement was returned by email with questions regarding details for outdoor kitchen. Return answer did not match bid received. Report was that verbal communication had occurred during the estimate visit which was untrue. This company provided a bid that was incomplete and appeared like a bait and switch routine at worst. At best, this company does not communicate properly or effectively.

Well I signed a contract on the 4th of November and was told work was backed up and it would be the week of Thanksgiving before they start. So on the 20th of November, I was told work would begin on the 23rd at 1000. On the 23rd I called to see what happened and they said worked got postponed to Tuesday. On Tuesday the 24th at 0900, I was looking for someone to show up...nothing. So I called at 1100 and they said someone would be there no later than noon. Well at 1:00 pm there was still nobody there so I canceled. The manager called me at 0130 and said the truck was loaded up and they would be on the way if I wanted the service, so I said okay fine. Now it's 0430 and nobody is still here, so now I'm getting really upset and I'm getting calls with all these excuses of why work wasn't started but now they ready to start work when it's almost dark outside. I was patient for 3 weeks to accommodate their schedule and it's time to move on. I was drawn by their work I've seen from previous jobs although it's pricey, but the material is good, however I can't wait forever to get a fence installed when there are plenty other services out there. They need to do a better job scheduling and communicating.

Estimator (Matt) was excellent. Prompt, professional,thorough. I stated that I wanted the job done within 10-14 days. He saidthis would be no problem. Once the fence-painting job was turned over tothe contractor to complete, I called to follow up on status. I was giventhe contractor's number, I contacted him (Oscar) and scheduled a date forthe work. He no-showed and did not call. I called and Oscar said he hadcar troubles, and we rescheduled. He no-showed on the rescheduled time, nordid he call. I called the company and requested a different contractor.The second contractor (Will) no-showed and did not call. I called thecompany and they said he had to leave work for an emergency. The only datethey were able to schedule was during my out-of-town holiday company. Afterexpressing my displeasure with three out-and-out no-shows, and terriblefollow-up and service, the manager agreed to refund the "deal" I hadpurchased to get the job done prior to the holidays. It is possible thatTexas Best Fence does good work -- but their follow-through and commitmentto customer communication is lousy at best.

Excellent work. The estimate was accurate and fair, and the workers were on time and very diligent. They cleaned up all the old fencing and hauled it off, and even hauled off some additional debris in the yard. Vey professional. The new fences look great!

It did take a couple weeks to get a confirmed installation day but it was well worth the wait. The fence is beautiful!!!! I could not be happier. I got 3 other bids which were almost identical in price. What I like best about them is that they listen to me as to what I wanted and figured out the best way to accomplish it. After talking to Andrea I realized that the other estimate had got the height of the back wrong making all of the quotes about the same. I would definitely recommend this company. They do quality work!!!

Very well. Jeff Richards, project manager, was very helpful in setting up the service. Construction crew timely performed the service & the fence looks excellent.

The whole experience exceeded my expectations. Although I had read some negative reviews, I selected Texas Best Fence (TBF) because of their complete and professional approach to providing me with an estimate, references and answers to aniticipated questions at the first meeting. I discovered at the end of the process that the negative reviews most likely were submitted prior to the present owner acquiring the business and turning it around. I did not choose them because they were the low-cost provider--their prices were in the middle of the group of estimates I requested. My main criterion for choosing with whom I do business is the people. The individuals who supervise and do the work. In this case, I would grade them as an A+! Kimbra Pervine, the person who handled my project, is punctual, pleasant and knowledgeable. She also is a good communicator. Shelby, in the office, is efficient and enjoyable...and, as Kimbra said, " If Sergio is on your job, it'll be done right!" And, it was? Under Kimbra's leadership, they made a great team and performed in a way that surpassed my expectations.

I interviewed several companies to replace my neighbors and my fence. Kimbra showed up for the initial meeting on time and was very professional throughout the whole process. I had several questions that required followup phone calls with Kimbra. Not once did she make me feel like I was a bother. The wrecking crew showed up when promised and cleaned up every day. The job took about a week but that included my neighbors fence as well. They did an outstanding job and want above and beyond my expectations. We did have one area I found that was not to my satisfaction after I paid. I was worried the responsiveness would not be the same after paying. I was wrong. Kimbra promptly returned my call and had her crew come out and correct the issue. I have very high expectations when it comes to customer service and Kimbra along with Texas Best Fence exceeded my expectations. I would like to add one more thing. Every competitor came out and bashed the competition. Not once did Kimbra sling mud. She did however respond to every allegation against Texas Best Fence and show the competitor did not have accurate information.

I looked up several fence companies and, based solely upon the reviews on Angie's List, I contacted Texas Best Fence. I did not seek out or obtain any other estimate or even ask friends or relatives. Jeff Richards, project manager for Texas Best Fence, came to my home and gave me an estimate for the fence (with more than one option of price), included the Angie's member discount they offered (I had not requested it or even thought about it, for that matter) and said that, once I made my decision, Texas Best Fence would obtain the required permit from the City of University Park. Mr. Richards told me the approximate date they could begin work and even knew the name of the man at U.P. from whom the permit would need to be obtained. My husband and I made our decision that day, sent Texas Best Fence our countersigned estimate/contract and the fence was installed approximately one (1) week later than the estimated installation date given to me by Mr. Richards. How often does anyone provide a service anywhere near the time they estimate - not very often! The installers arrived at exactly the time the schedulers said they would and proceeded to work so diligently in our Texas heat that I actually worried about them. Martin and his co-worker were so nice, answered my questions and even cleaned up as they worked. I felt entirely at ease with them and was very happy to have them at my home. They worked until well after dinner time in order to complete the project. They did a beautiful job and my husband and I are thrilled with the results. Mr. Richards came by to review the job, even though I could not be there to meet him. All the individuals I dealt with from Texas Best Fence, both on the telephone and in person, were extremely nice and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Subsequently, I have noticed many of their signs on good-looking fences in this area. Obviously, we are not the only ones using this company.

Showed up on the rescheduled time. Did a quick and clean estimate. Professional and courteous. Will further update if I decide to go with this provided. So far no complaint.

Contact office personnel were pleasant and professional. Company rep. for my area came within 2 wks of initial contact. I explained what I wanted plus the extras. The area was measured off and company rep. discussed with me, clearly, what she suggested and what I could expect. I was given pictures and addresses of other fences TexasBestFence had installed. I am extremely satisfied with the workmanship and installation and quality of my new fence!

Everything went like clockwork. Total time was 2 days.

I was very satisfied with the results. Todd Neuens was the project manager. He did the initial price estimations and kept in touch during the project to follow up on its progress. The price quote was right in the middle of several that I had gotten. Although it seemed a little high, I felt that the quality of the workmanship made the difference. (In the end, I was glad that I didn't go with the lowest bid.) The installation crew worked hard and was very courteous. My fence design was a custom design, so we all worked on fine tuning the end product during the installation process. The final product looked good.

Texas Best Fence was not only professional but well priced. It was easy to schedule our appointment; we never had the hassle of cancellations or any surprises during the installation process. The workers did a fantastic job, and the price Texas Best Fence offered was better than competitors. We would certainly use Texas Best Fence again.

I contacted Texas Best Fence as they were highly rated on this site. The first impression did raise a red flag but, I continued dialogue: 8/15 - Estimate scheduled. Received call that morning that they needed to reschedule. I advised them I needed to make a decision that weekend. They told me "the guy who was to do your estimate no longer worked there." Then why didn't you reschedule his appointments once he left? I knew they were not being honest. They did end up sending Jeff out that afternoon and he provided estimate for both fence and pergola. 8/18 - I signed estimate, provided Cover Letter w/ additional notes and authorized them to begin work. 8/24 or 8/25 - I had heard nothing from them. I called and they advised me they did receive my paperwork and someone would reach out to me to discuss next steps. I advised them I needed plans for HOA and HOA approval before any work could start. ? Some date (can't remember) - I called again as I had not heard anything and asked that I meet with someone to provide design wishes. It was scheduled for 9/2 (or 3rd). Week of 9/1 - received call that the design session needed to be rescheduled to 9/11. 9/11 - Met with Jeff and showed picture of my wishes. He indicated they were 3 weeks backlog. I was fine with this. 9/12 - I called as I still had not received plans and it was during this call I was advised they were scheduled to start work on 9/21?? How is that possible when I had not provided design until 9/11 and I had never received plans for HOA approval. And how did Jeff not know this when he met with me? 9/12 - I emailed and advised them I needed all required HOA documentation by Monday, 9/15 or I would cancel the service. I did received a voice message from Jeff indicating he needed my Survey and he would "work on it over the weekend" as my HOA met on 9/17 and he wanted to make sure I had by then. I provided my Survey on 9/13. It is 9/18 and I have never heard from them. I advised them this morning I was no going to do business with them and to cancel my work order. Still nothing. I absolutely understand that companies get busy; however, the complete disregard and lack of communication is unacceptable. Either hire more office staff or Project Managers. In viewing other negative ratings, I see this has been a trend. I hope they are able to fix their problems as I am sure they do beautiful work once you do all the work managing them through the administrativedetails.

They did an amazing job, and Kimbra was awesome to deal with. She was always very professional and personable when I spoke to her, and my mom loved working with her. She showed up to make sure everything was good to go before they started the job and she came back to make sure everything was done correctly at the end. Their customer service is second to none and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a fence company that is punctual, professional and very well priced! A++++!

Simply amazing! I?m amazed at how little Texas Best Fence (TBF) communicates with their customers. I?m amazed that there is little to no scheduling of activity throughout the project. I?m amazed that after two commitments from the owner (one on the phone and once in person) that he?d personally ensure our satisfaction, that we never saw or heard from him again. Its amazing that dates committed to by TBF up front which lead to our decision to select them, were never met and apparently never intended to be met. We were amazed that at any point in time and on any given day, someone would just randomly show up and do work then we wouldn?t hear from anyone again until another random day when another worker or two would just show up, often without knowing what the scope of work was they were to do. Amazed at how poorly planned the concrete work was. They actually ran out during the first pour and tried to use bag concrete to finish the patio. Then because it looked horrible, they committed to ripping it all out and replacing it. Jack hammers disrupted both us and our new neighbors not to mention the huge mess in the street. Amazed to get a call from the salesman wanting payment and then he learns from me that the project isn?t complete. I was simply amazed to receive a statement via email (the only statement ever received) stating that I was already over 30-days past due for my final payment yet the project was incomplete. During the 12 weeks starting when we gave them the down payment to when we paid the final amount, the actual work being done took maybe 6-7 full days, that boils down to 10 weeks of nothing but waiting. In that time, we had several opportunities to refer TBF to neighbors, friends and new acquaintances. - Our neighbor 2-doors down wanted a referral but we didn?t feel comfortable referring TBF to them. He hired someone else who actually started after and finished before us. - Another neighbor who is also a realtor, said she knew of opportunities to not only install a nice patio on her home but for her other real estate customers as well and was looking for a good referral. We told her that we could not in good conscience refer TBF to her... simply put, missed opportunity. After several weeks and nothing started, the owner made it clear to me that he didn?t like my first Angies List write-up which I felt was necessary because after multiple attempts at getting traction with TBF via phone, email and text messages, I was left with no other recourse and even requested my money back. They convinced me to stick with them and I retracted my Angies List review at that time. Now that the project is done, particularly after receiving a delinquency statement via email but never getting an original invoice, despite the fact the project wasn?t complete, I have no regrets posting this review. Four areas TBF needs significant improvement: - Project Management: planning, scope creation and scheduling - Communication with customers: absolutely vital but absent from our project - Subcontractor communication: all contractors were not prepared with a scope of work when they'd arrive on site - Back-office: sending a first statement via email to the customer that is already >30 days past due is not good business, especially when the work isn?t even complete! There is hope? the quality of the work, albeit from sub contractors, is not bad. I?d personally swap out the concrete crew but the electrical and carpentry crews are really pretty good. Now that the project is done, would I refer TBF to friends and family? Absolutely not! Would I do business with them again in the future? Absolutely not! If I could, would I go back in time 12 weeks and do it over with another contractor? Absolutely! Do I only give negative reviews? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I have given rave reviews to service providers like Milestone Electric, Baker Brothers Plumbing, Andy's Irrigation & Sprinkler and many others in the past and will continue to do so when I receive quality service. Another one of life?s little lessons -

I wish I had read the Yelp reviews first. I depended on my paid membership with Angie's list. The reviews there are vastly different (apparently their advertising revenue has helped their standing and reviews on Angie?s List). I have cancelled my membership with Angie?s List and I?m sure this review will never appear on their site. The reviews on Yelp are completely accurate with my experience. On June 26h I set an appointment for July 8th for a quote. Todd (sales rep/project manager) came and gave me a quote for a new walkway, brick mailbox and extended rear patio. He said they were scheduling about two weeks out. He said he would send a detailed drawing for the work in a couple of days. I signed the contract and paid a 50% deposit. A few days later I email to ask about the drawing and schedule for work to begin. He said he should find out in a couple of days and would send over the drawing soon. I sent a couple more emails and made a couple of calls. Finally, we were scheduled for August 6th.... August 6th came and went and no crew showed up, no phone call came, no nothing. I finally got a hold of Todd only to be told that the concrete couldn't be poured if the temp was above 95 degrees....hmmm! I finally got tired of the limited information so I called the office. Now I'm told the start date will be August 20th or 21st. A sub contractor did show up on the 20th and started the work...they worked through most of the week completing the walkway and extended back patio...they made a couple of errors on the patio but overall their work quality was good (I also got their business card because they would have done the work for much less). Oh, and it was exactly 103 degrees out when they poured the concrete. I was told by Todd that they would return the next day (Friday) to build the mailbox. No one showed up on Friday. No one showed up on Saturday. No one showed up on Monday. I left messages with both Todd the project manager and the office over and over again. They keep telling me tomorrow but now one shows up and no one calls and no one answers my calls or returns my calls. Tuesday at 2pm a new sub-contractor shows up to pour the footing for the mailbox (btw, the other sub-contractor poured more than 400 sq. ft. of concrete last week. Not sure why that was missed). This sub-contractor came the following day and completed the mailbox. He did a fantastic job. Again I should have just used the sub-contractor and did get his card. It took another two days to get someone back out to clean up the debris left in my front yard. As it turns out the sales guy has no ability to make the job happen. His hands are tied and he?s just the whipping post that stands between the customer and whoever schedules the sub-contractors? btw, none of this job was performed by the company itself, it was all sub-contractors. Final thought ? do yourself a favor and find another company!!!

Workmanship excellent. Crew was very punctual. Todd Neuens, the Product Manager, was very personable, helpful and responsive. He came to my home during the work to ensure that it was being performed correctly. One little thing- the crew did not clean up very well after themselves, leaving muddy footprints and sawdust, but Todd offered to clean up.

The crew was hard-working, they showed up on time and finished in the time they said they would. The gates have accent details which really sets it apart from your everyday, ho-hum fence. Their quote was lower thanthe other we got and we were very pleased with the job. I would definitely recommend.
