Abacus Foundation Repair

The workers were polite, clean and punctual. My house is barely dirty. They broke through the foundation as little as possible, which saved me from having to replace my entire kitchen floor. The company is honest, and does only what they say they will do. My house looks great and I would definitely recommend them to family and friends!

Gave me an accurate review of the level of all areas of the house. Confirmed that there is a problem with an area of the house that I was wondering about. Provided suggestions on how to resolve the problem area. One recommendation was to take down the tree that is very close to the house and the roots of which can be seen starting to cause problems such as buckling the sidewalk that leads to the front door. (I was afraid that that might have to be done). I appreciated the technician's promptness and thoroughness. Very pleased with his work.

He gave me specific and professional advice on how to maintain it and prevent further issues. He did not leave until all of my questions were answered. He gave me a copy of the measurements as well as instructions on how to extend my gutters and put dirt in to protect the soil underneath. $45 here will save me thousands down the road.

I bought a groupon for a foundation check. Blake was great. Explained everything in detail, gave me a copy of the preliminary differences in the foundation and gave me his assessment on the spot. Would absolutely use them again and would ask for Blake!

They initially said to wait as we didn't have a big problem, but in October, we realized we needed to have the work done. They are scheduled to come out in November to fix the foundation. Crossing my fingers! Check back after the work!

Arrived on time. After his inspection explained the findings clearly. Answered my questions on foundation watering. Overall I am satisfied with the work done in this inspection.

Although there is no way to put in interior piers without a lot of disruption & mess, Amelio & his crew did a good job of making the process as pain free as possible. The sheet rock cracks closed up pretty well, & except for a broken sewer pipe, the job went smoothly. we are now in the process of getting the pipes fixed so we can remodel that part of the house. We hope that the slab is now fixed "for good".

Everything went very well. Abacus/Chris Gonzales is great to work with. All the work was done just as they said it would be with attention to details. They took care of everything. We would definitely use them again.

Since they don't do driveways, only foundations, they weren't able to do any work, just give advise. However, he tried to help even though he knew he wouldn't be getting anything out of it. I think that says a lot for the owner and the company. I've been ignored many times by companies that, if it didn't mean anything to their bottom line, they simply never returned my call.

In addition to confirming that the flooring was level, the technician also inspected underneath the house for proper support. While the foundation was in good shape, the technician reported unknown plumbing issues. Although the technician reported that no leveling was required and my foundation was sound. I would call Abacus should the need ever arise.

We noticed a lot of settling and cracking in our house after all the recent rain so we purchased Abacus' coupon for a foundation inspection and report. They were responsive over the phone and the person who came out to complete the inspection was very polite, though he didn't seem very knowledgable about the job. We have a unique type of foundation (a screeted slab) which we told them when scheduling the appointment but the service guy didn't know anything about that particular type of foundation. He just took the measurements and told us to wait for the report, which would be completed by his boss and the foreman since it's a lesser known foundation type. We waited 6 days for the report which was frustrating (though they may have been much quicker if we had a traditional slab or pier and beam). When it arrived, they recommended that we pier the entire house with 62 piers for a total cost of $23,000. Before pulling the trigger on such a large expense, we decided to have a structural engineer out to give a second opinion. To summarize, the engineer came out this morning and said there's no need to have ANY foundation work and that it would likely cause more problems than it would solve. The people at Abacus were definitely polite but I wouldn't take their word without getting an opinion from a company that won't profit from your repairs. Overall it felt like they gave us information on how to make the house 100% level but didn't provide any insight into whether or not that would actually be a beneficial route to take. We will not be moving forward with any foundation work so I can't attest to their service beyond the inspection.

Great service, the process was explained thoroughly, and the work was delivered as promised.

They did so much that I just don't have time to describe it all. They did everything under the contract plus some. Everything they did, they did extremely well.

It went great. Great customer service, answered my call instantly. Took their time to explain what they would do. Chris came out, was very nice and knowledgeable. They said foundation could possibly need major repair. $10000 to 40000 k. They would have to dig under home to find out. Was worth the $75 service call. Drew up a graph with Higby measurements as well. I would definitely recommend them.

They were very professional and prompt and the bid was competitive. 2 years later my house has shifted significantly again and the warranty is only good for 1 year. Not much of a warranty. The work performed was based on a review done by a structural engineer. They said 2 years after the fact that they would have recommended adding a third pier to prevent the ones that were added from turning. However this was never mentioned when they originally performed the work. I understand that the ground continues to move but 2 years doesn't seem long enough between 6k repairs.

Job was completed on time and on budget. They did the work and cleaned up the yard after themselves.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Richard and Emilio and their team. I highly recommend them to anyone. And given my past bad experience with a foundation company, this endorsement was not a given. Abacus EARNED my trust through straightforward and clear communication, punctuality, thoughtful planning and attention to detail in their work. They spent hours inspecting the house, listening to my horror stories of my past dealings with the prior company and then working with me to discuss and review various options to stabilize my house BEFORE we agreed on a plan of action. I was a nervous wreck because of the experiences with the prior company. My house looked like a bomb site, with craters and nearly a moat around the perimeter, along with piles of dirt and concrete slab footers that the prior company jack hammered out and left in my yard. I had been living with my house in this exposed state of disrepair for four months as I tried, but failed, to work out a solution with the previous company. Elevations showed a nearly five-inch differential in this small, 1400-square foot home. I reached out to various engineers and various contractors -- each of whom offered different, contradictory solutions. Trust me when I tell you my skepticism was at an all-time high when Richard walked in the door the first time. Fortunately, he came highly recommended by someone I trusted, but he still had to earn my confidence. He was patient and kind (even humorous), and took time to answer my questions and explain his thoughts. He spent time on his proposal and again, answered my questions. Their work was pricey, but comparable to other bids. Throughout the project, they kept me informed every step of the way. And they solidified my trust on the day we adjusted the piers and worked together to make decisions. They actually listened and HEARD my concerns throughout the entire process. Time will tell, of course, but the house feels more solid than ever. And I trust if I ever have a problem, they will respond and deal with it in an honest and straightforward way.

The tech was punctual, very professional, and easy to deal with. The foundation was found to be in acceptable shape. However, the concern about the purchased service relates to the recommendation for an elaborate, expensive (about $6K) drainage system that Abacus Foundation wanted to install. Naturally, I am getting more opinions.
