It could not have gone better. Tim arrived exactly on time, even though it was in the 30s outside. He needed a shovel to dig out the water softening system and had to chop through tree roots to remove it. Once removed (which was no small feat, as the system weighed nearly 50 pounds), he sealed and re-routed all the plumbing pipes. It took about 2 hours.
Description of Work: We had an outdoor water softening system removed. This involved digging out the old unit and sealing and re-routing pipes. I had no idea Tim would have to dig so deep...cutting through roots and lifting giant treatment systems out of the ground. I felt terrible it was a bigger job than I ever imagined, but he was wonderful.

I had one plumbing company come out and make sure my vents were clear (they were) and then re-seat my toilet. They did a fine job - but the smell persisted. I got on Angie's list, again and found Tim - who obviously has a great score. I called him to schedule an appointment. In the process he asked what the trouble was. We ended up speaking for at least 15 minutes that day. I outlined all the symptoms, etc.... Long story short - at the end of the conversation he said he did not know what the problem was and that he did not feel comfortable spending my time and money on a visit - at that time. Instead, we traded more information via voice mail and text over the next week or so. It turns out, I did not need a plumber - I had a deceased rodent near the air vent! (note; we had ruled it out since we had the problem for so long...) Through all this, I also had the conversation about tank-less water systems. After hearing more about my house he said - sure he could put one in for a bout $4k - but given my house configuration he did not think I would be happy with it. TIM IS HONEST AS THE DAY IS LONG - AND CLEARLY KNOWS HIS STUFF. BOTTOM LINE: THE NEXT TIME I NEED A PLUMBER - I WILL NOT HESITATE TO CALL TIM. I WOULD - AND WILL - RECOMMEND HIM TO MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
Description of Work: I had a sewer smell in the area of one of our toilets.

Overall, everything went relatively quickly and very well.
Description of Work: The Shut-Off Valve to one of our bathroom toilets was failing to completely close -- water continued to trickle through to the toilet tank when the valve was totally turned off. Since the toilet tank float valve assembly along with the other various parts needed to be replaced, the shut-off had to be repaired. Tim responded quickly to our call, arrived promptly and replaced the valve. He also rebuilt the interior of the toilet tank (replaced all the interior parts with new ones) in a short amount of time, saving me the trouble! Tim was very cordial, considerate, professional, clearly explained in advance everything pertinent to the job at hand (including the cost), and endeavored to work very efficiently to minimize the overall job cost. His work style was very neat and clean. We plan to call on Tim again in the near future to address some additional issues with other bathrooms in our home.

Tim is excellent. I consider him out go-to plumber. He is very professional yet relaxed at the same time. All of my dealings with him have been very positive. I believe him to be a very honest and sincere worker,. As far as the technical side of things, he really knows what he is doing and can quickly diagnose a problem and provide a set of solutions which will work for most budgets. He performs the tasks very quickly.
Description of Work: We have used Tim about 4 times over the past two years. Some jobs were small (clogged sinks, non-working garbage disposals, etc..) and some were larger (repaired underground leak to our main line leading to the house.) All were repaired very expertly.

We called Tim with an unusual issue where one of our external faucets and our water dispenser on our refrigerator stopped working overnight. We were not having any other issues with our water pressure anywhere else in the house. When we initially called Tim he suggested that we call the city as the issue might be in the city line or caused by recent road work construction in our neighborhood. After contacting the city and them flushing our line and denying any responsibility, Tim came out to our home and viewed our issues and provided options for proceeding. He communicated well and was very considerate in regards to wanting to limit the number of places he cut the sheetrock in order to identify where the clog was. Tim found a plastic object that was clogging our pipes that resembled a large golf tee and repaired the piping. Tim was excellent to work with and I really appreciate his knowledge, his professionalism and his communication. He will be our plumber for all future needs.

I called him to set up a service call. He told me when he could come and we set it. He gave me a day and said that he would call that day to let me know when he would be arriving. I expected that he would call earlier in the day to let me know, but he didn't call until around the noon hour. We had something come up and couldn't wait around for him, so we scheduled for him to come the next day. He arrived bright and early and looked at the shower and we figured out exactly what he needed to do. I went to Lowe's to get what he needed while he prepped the areas and he got it all taken care of. Overall it was a satisfactory experience and we would call him again.
Description of Work: He replaced a shower head and also the drain closures in two bathtubs.

We are very happy with the outcome of both jobs Tim did for us. He did an excellent job of installing the new kitchen faucet and then a few days later, he was able to identify where the water was coming from in the master bedroom (it was a clogged A/C line). He also installed a new water filter under the kitchen sink and reseated a new commode that we had recently installed (turns out it was crooked and Tim recognized if before it presented a problem). We will use Tim again.
Description of Work: We called Tim for two separate jobs. The first was to install new kitchen faucets over the new granite countertops. A few days later we had a leak from somewhere that soaked part of the hallway all the way into the master bedroom.

Based on the location of his business and his A rating on Angie's List I called Tim Darnell Plumbing with some non-urgent plumbing issues. Tim's schedule is very tight but as it was not an emergency we were able to set up an appointment that fit both our schedules. He planned to start work an hour earlier than he usually does to accommodate my work schedule however on the day of the appointment he sent me a text indicating he would be late. He showed up 45 minutes late. As stated above he worked quickly and efficiently but if the plumbing under the kitchen sink had needed to be replaced/repaired now I don't think he would've had time to do so. I will definitely use his services again but, because he works alone, I do have some concern that if I have an immediate emergency he would not be able to respond quickly. It would also be beneficial if he took credit cards.
Description of Work: Tim Darnell fixed a leak on one outside faucet and replaced another. He also cleared the drain on the shower and sink in the master bath. Additionally he thoroughly checked out an old leak that had been discovered when a pipe under the kitchen sink froze this past winter. It was no longer leaking and he gave me advice on replacing the old galvanized pipes under the kitchen sink. We decided it could wait until I replace the sink and dishwasher in the near future. He worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up after himself. I am very happy with the quality of his work and the price.

The experience overall was excellent. When I first called Tim, he asked a lot of questions up front in order to give a better estimate. Tim worked efficiently and carefully and took time to check and re-check his work and make sure the faucets were working properly. He is very professional and did not try to sell other services, which is very refreshing. I think his price was reasonable. The faucets look good and are working properly. I would definitely call Tim Darnell Plumbing again and will refer him to others.

Tim and I spent a good deal of time on the phone trying to the diagnose the problem before we scheduled an appointment. He showed up on time and quickly cleaned the sink drain. We then moved on to the lawn drain. I told him that I did not want to go past the hour. He did a good job overall but changed me an extra 15 min which I did not like. He spent about 15 min running back and forth from his truck (loading and unloading) and cleaning his equipment. Good guy overall. Just felt I shouldn't have paid for the extra 15 min.

I noticed a small leak from the base of my toilet, and quickly set out to fix it. After pulling the toilet I noticed the flange had rusted, indicating this wasn't a recent problem. Tim came out to replace flange and raise piping, as it wasn't flush with floor. Did a great job in little time. Wasn't able to finish putting everything back, since I am having flooring replaced (floorboards and tile), but set it up so the floor contractor will not have to worry about it when doing his job. Does a great job of explaining what he will do before tackling the project.

I could not be happier with the job Tim performed! He was excellent at communicating what needed to be done and even had me take pictures of the plumbing under my sink so he could give a rough estimate via email. This saved both of us a lot of time. Tim is very trustworthy and easy to talk to. He contacted me when he was going to be about 10 minutes late for our appointment and was very apologetic. I feel that the cost of this job was extremely reasonable considering it took two trips and about 3 1/2 hours of work. I would definitely use Tim for any future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: I hired Tim to disconnect the plumbing under my sink and then reconnect everything plus install a new faucet and garbage disposal after having new granite counters installed.

I needed to have a toilet bowl flange replaced as the metal flange had rusted out and the bowl would not bolt down to the floor. All of this was after replacing the flooring in the bathroom after a water leak issue. I am a "do it yourselfer" but was not equipped to handle this type of work. After looking on Angie's list I found Tim Darnell. We made an appointment but to my surprise he called a day early and was able to do the work earlier than expected. Tim was the consumate professional. He knew what he was talking about and better yet knew what he was doing. After an hour of getting the old flange out and the new one in he placed the toilet bowl in. He turned on the water and found a few unexpected leaks in the toilet (I was playing plumber again and didn't get it right). Again he was very professional and didn't complain at all. He just fixed the problems, checked the level of the toilet, shimmed it up so it that it didn't wobble and made up his bill. He was very, very reasonable in his pricing and then gave me an "Angie's List discount" to boot. I would use this guy any and everytime I have plumbing work to be done. He is a great guy with integrity. Thanks, Tim!

I called Tim on Friday when I found out there was a leak under the kitchen sink of the property we just purchased. I already had a counter top installation scheduled for Tuesday so I was in dire need of finding someone who could do the work before Tuesday. Tim came out Monday, despite a full schedule. He was personable, polite and very professional. He did the work quickly and cleanly in a reasonable amount of time. When he finished the work under the kitchen sink, he made sure all was ready for the new faucet installation that would coincide with the counter installation.

Great plumbing service. Original Estimate from plumber service provided by Home Owner Warrantee Company. $5500 and must hammer into my foundation in at least one area and possibly two areas. Tim?s expert he uses foundation leak locating found the area of the leak which was about 8ft from where the original plumbing company thought the leak was located. Which means the other plumbing company would have hammered at least one unnecessary hole though the living room tile and foundation. Based on the location of the leak Tim was able to route a new hot water line through the attic instead of going the foundation. Which was not even an option with the other plumbing company. This saved me a few holes in my foundation and a lot of tile repair. In the end this was the absolute best experience I have ever had with a contractor. My total cost was $2700 including a new hot water heater. The original cost from the original quote was $5500 (not including a hot water heater, plus numerous holes in my foundation, and tile repair) Tim Darnell is the only plumber we plan to ever use.

Tim took the time to describe to me what my options were, cost for each, and pros and cons. We decided that replacing our 17 yr. old water heater was the best for us. A friend of mine who has experience in plumbing said that Tim's price of $1,300. was a deal...not knowing much about pricing for this type of work...I would have given Tim the job regardless of price as I could tell early on this was a competent fellow. Tim came as scheduled, worked quietly and did one of the finest jobs of plumbing I have ever seen. Even the city inspector commented on the quality of the workmanship in this job. The added bonus...we had a rattling pipe in the walls, and somehow Tim fixed that too! I have had poor experiences with plumbers in the past...but Tim has shown his profession proud. I would highly recommend Tim for any household plumbing job.
Description of Work: Tim is a true professional. We called on Tim after our shower in our Master Bath stopped working. He was prompt in responding to my initial call for service and scheduled his first appointment available. He came, addressed that immediate problem with the shower and had that fixed in a jiffy. Tim also diagnosed a bigger issue with my water heater.

During about 2 hours of work, he was able to get get into the sink faucet, remove some rubber parts that had been floating around the taps that seemed to have originated from the tankless water heater system, and reestablish a steady and strong flow of water from my cold water tap in the master bathroom, without any more rattling or flow issues. He removed and repaired the leaky water dispenser in the guest shower while caulking it upon repairs. Finally, he explained to me his theory on why the tankless water system seemed to inject the black little rubber parts into the water pipes, and why possibly the water temperature during showers did not stay constant but rather, fluctuated between hot to cold to warm. He was professional, very cordial, explained everything well and in easy to understand language, and was more than willing to explain everything he was doing or going to do, why, and what results he hoped to obtain through his actions. Quality work, solid job done, fair price!
Description of Work: He ran all the water in my house to determine why my guest bathroom shower water temperature would not stay hot for any extended period of time, but would rather cool down and then occasionally heat back up again. Furthermore, he had to stop a constant dripping leak from the faucet of the same shower. Finally, he had to determine why the cold water faucet in my master bathroom sink had little pressure and seemed to cause a rattling sound occasionally before dwindling pressure to a near standstill.

Tim tried the easy way, but unfortunately it didn't work, so the hard (and expensive) way it was for me. I believe that Tim really tried to make the easy way work, and he showed me why we needed to break into the wall once we did so (poor initial construction). His repair was completed and the wall put back at least as good as it was before. Will definitely use Tim again for future plumbing work.
Description of Work: Tim replaced a leaking frost-proof outside spigot. He had me email him some photos, and gave me an estimate of the work over email. He said that it would either be (relatively) easy -- about an hour's work (150 including a new better faucet), or the fitting would need to be fixed inside the wall, which means removing bricks, doing the repair, and remortaring (~15% of the time), which would be 3-400.

This was at my dad's house, but I had identified the plumber to use. Tim was very punctual and professional. He installed 3 new toilets (we purchased and had at the house). My dad is hard to please, but he was very satisfied. Tim also fixed a leaking faucet in the kitchen, and adjusted the 4th toilet that wasn't working properly. He took no shortcuts. I could have found someone to do this cheaper, but Tim's pricing was reasonable.
