After reading all the comments about this company, I was all set for a satisfactory experience but boy, was I disappointed. We had two toilets that were constantly running, so I made an appointment with MET on Sunday afternoon with a very friendly operator (she was the high point of the experience). She stated that the plumber would be out the next day between the hours of 11:00 and 3:00. Someone from MET called at 2:30 on Monday afternoon, to say the plumber was running late and would be there shortly. He didn't show up until 4:30, with lots of attitude but no apologies, and proceeded to quote an amount of $ 800 to fix the toilets! When my husband balked at the amount, he pulled a car salesman trick and told him he would call the owner to see if he could lower it. Sure enough, he got off the phone with a new quote of $527. Again, we declined, at which point he became almost belligerent, probably because the estimate was free, with no trip charge. We ended up using Handyman Connection (who was wonderful!) for $59, a far cry from $527!
Description of Work: Free estimate for two running toilets.

I had done some of the prep work for the rebuild of the physical valve system myself, but got to a point past my comfort level and called MET Plumbing. They were punctual, professional and the work was of high quality. I would HIGHLY recomend MET for those who know nothiong about plumbing (they will treat you fairly) and those who know enough to get themselves into trouble (they make evening and weekend calls when required). Excellent service, quality and price.
Description of Work: I had a tub/shower combo valve that went bad, and the valve stem was no longer available. Met installed a new valve system along with the interior tub hardware.

The kitchen faucet was a simple problem - just needed a screw tightening which I did not know about. This they did for free. The shower head needed a new cartridge. This job needed some special tools. They did the job professionally in about an hour. They left my shower clean and took good care as they walked through the house. I am pleased with their work.
Description of Work: We had two plumbing issues. The kitchen faucet and the shower head were leaking.

Overall, good experience. They did a quality job and cleaned up after repairs. I felt maybe a bit over priced but did respond quickly and completed all work efficiently. They even called me a couple days later to make sure I was satisfied with all the work.

Gary took his time and did an outstanding job. I appreciate the owner's apparent philosophy that it is more important to do the job well rather than hurrying things up so that he can squeeze more service calls into the work day. So far, my two experiences with MET has been very satisfying.

The total job took between 3 and 4 hours, and Gary's work ethic absolutely sold me on this company. In fact, it was the first time in my life that I ever tipped a plumber. I will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I had a leak in a water pipe in the ceiling over the kitchen. I called MET at 10 o'clock in the morning and Gary was here shortly after 11:00. After I showed him the situation, both in the kitchen and in the attic, Gary explained to me what needed to be done and gave me a quote that I thought was very reasonable, considering that most of the work would have to be done by cutting holes in the ceiling to find the leak. He cut one hole in the kitchen and a second and third hole in the adjoining room to find a joint that he could connect the new pipe to. He replaced a total of 20 feet of pipe and installed a new "T" fitting to connect my icemaker. I asked him to insulate the new pipes and he agreed. He went to Home Depot to get the insulation and a valve for the "T" fitting for my icemaker. He did not charge me extra for this -- fairly amazing based on my past experience with plumbing companies.

Met Plumbing was very prompt in returning my phone call and they worked around my schedule. I received phone calls letting me know where the repairman was and how much longer it looked like he would be on the job before mine. When the repairman arrived, he was very friendly and professional. He wore booties in the house and cleaned up the area after he finished the work. He explained what he was doing as he was working, keeping me informed throughout the procedure. He also showed me some areas where I might have problems in the future due to the age of the pipes (our house was built in the '70's) but assured me that, for now, it seemed to be holding up. I thought the price was a little high but it's been years since we've had to have any plumbing work done so it just might be that we're not used to the going rates. Also, since it was an emergency type of repair, I didn't get multiple companies to come out and give me quotes. I would definitely use this company again as I was very impressed with their professionalism. Marion, the owner, seems to take pride in his company and to bend over backward to keep you informed during the day.
Description of Work: I had mindlessly stuffed a ton of food down my (old) garbage disposal and both kitchen sinks were backed up. Met Plumbing assessed what was wrong and explained that if the clog was in one place, what the price would be, and if it was stopped up "further down the line" and they would have to use a "snake" in order to clear it, that the price would be more and were able to give me a concrete amount. Luckily, it was stopped up in the pipes under the sink and he was able to fix it for the smaller amount, which was $180.00.

I had to haggle price with them a bit before I would let them begin. My husband and I had put down sod two days before, so we had moved that out of the leak area before the plumbers came so they had no grass to dig through. I showed them exactly where the leak was originating (and was able to explain the pattern the pipes followed beneath the ground based on the path from the meter to our shut-off within the house). They had to dig down through the mud about 18" to reach the pipe and replace the drought-stressed pvc elbow. I shut off the water inside the house, while they shut it off at the meter. The pipe and leak were located within exactly 10 minutes (I looked at my clock). They were here a total of 2 hours. Of that 2 hours, 35 minutes were spent just waiting for the sealant in the new piece of pipe to dry/set-up properly and about 25 minutes were spent cleaning the mud off of themselves and their equipment. I replaced the sod myself. Gary was extremely pleasant, competent, and professional to deal with. Stoney (sp?) stomped several pieces of my sod into the mud to the point where I could not reuse it (he really should have just lifted it and placed it aside temporarily), so I wasn't that happy about that. Joanna, who answers their phone and makes appointments is also very pleasant and extremely professional.

Went very well - no hitches, no surprises.
Description of Work: I bought this house a year ago; it had an old whole-house water softener system in it, unused and set to "bypass". Six months ago it started leaking around the bypass valve. I replaced an O-ring and it was OK again, still bypassing the unit. This morning it was leaking again. So we decided to remove the unit altogether. It would require cutting the PVC inlet and outlet pipes and joining them together. I am not so good at gluing PVC, so I decided to go with a plumber. Having heard of Angie's list on a TV show, I checked it out, then signed up for a year membership with the 40% off promo code. Found that Met Plumbing had lots of good reviews and located not far away. I called them about 9 Monday morning, and the truck pulled up before 11, right when they said he would be there. Gary looked at the setup and gave me a custom quote for uninstalling the water softener and hauling it away - about $230. Seemed pretty steep to me (been a long time since I've called a plumber), so I asked what about if I got rid of the old unit myself. The estimate went down to $140. I thought to myself, doesn't make sense to pay a plumber to haul trash. An hour later the job was done, and with the $10 off coupon from Angie's List, I paid him $130. While they were working, I had incidentally mentioned that we had to run the water a long time to get hot water in the master bathroom. When they were done with the work and waiting for the glue to dry before pressure testing the connection, Gary volunteered to look at the hot water heater in the attic. They crawled up there and traced the pipes, and surmised that we have a copper loop system so the hot water goes down from the attic down two floors into the slab and around to all the sinks before going back to the upstairs bathroom. It confirmed my idea to put an on-demand electric water heater in the shower. No extra charge for the investigation and advice.

Fast, efficient, professional, pleasant -- an A in all categories. An added plus, they entered and immediately put on cloth shoe protectors.
Description of Work: 10 pm Thursday evening, I called MET Plumbing Co. at 281 599 3336, of 1029 Hwy 6 N, Houston, TX 77079, and spoke to Marion, the owner. Our upstairs guest bathroom lavatory sink drain was stopped up and getting filled up by the A/C drain that connects in the attic. Both owner Marion and assistant Gary cheerfully showed up promptly. Because they at first thought we had used them before, they said they would waive the usual $140 emergency off hours fee, but we discovered later that we weren't their earlier service call to a customer of the same name. They graciously waived the fee anyway without hassle. After checking out our scary attic (our house is 35 years old), they settled in the guest bathroom where they took apart the pipes under the sink and ran a drain cable (almost 25 feet) through the drain twice, cleaning out two blockages. They put all back together and tested it thoroughly for leaks before leaving. They were fast, pleasant, and even petted our problematic 90-pound dog (which causes most new-comers to run). We were so pleased with their work that we opted to pay the additional $99 for their "Plumbing Service Agreement" that waives all future emergency off hour fees and discounts service charges. Emergency service off hours fee (waived) Regular $140.00 Preferred $ 0 Cable lavatory drain line Regular $226.00 Preferred $ 192.00 Plumbing Service Agreement Regular $ 99.00 Preferred $ 99.00 They even honored Angie's List Coupon!!! - less $10.00 Total charges...........$216.00

I am very pleased with the work performed by MET Plumbing. There were on time, clean professional and performed their duties in a time ly manner.
Description of Work: I did not have any water pressure in the faucet in my kitchen sink. MET new immediately what the problem was and fixed it. Although the problem is currently fixed, he let me know that due to my galvenized pipes, I could expect the problem to occur again. He quoted a price to replace all of the pipes in the house, but I am unwilling to spend the money at this time, but know that I know what needs to be done for total resolution I will be able to plan for this future expense.

I thought that the co. employees were very professional and polite. Gary went way out of his way to get me a part on warranty and even went to downtown Houston to get the part in a terrible storm. Then, he brought a helper back with him and they installed the new thermostat in almost exactly the estimated time. Afterwards, they did a thorough job of describing what had been done and thanked us for our business. I was very impressed. I highly recommend this company.

I called Marion for what I thought would be a simple job - replacing the faucets/handles/shower heads in my two bathrooms. I also wanted him to look at my water heater and fix the repair job I did on the water main coming into my house. He and his team came out but after seeing the parts I wanted installed informed me the bathroom would be a lot more work than I thought since it involved replacing valves, not just cosmetic parts. That's what I get for not opening the boxes - I would have seen the kits included valves. He called a few places to see if he could get cosmetic replacements but since my house is 33 years old replacement parts aren't made anymore. Since it was a big job, he gave me an estimate on the faucets, water heater and water main and we scheduled a follow up appointment to fix everything. He didn't charge me for the initial visit even though I wasted his time by my lack of understanding of what was needed. They were punctual and friendly the whole time, too. The team came back and spent a day replacing doing all of the work. The water heater needed to be brought up to code and there was a brief time where they thought they were going to have to replumb the garage because of the type of pipes used, but they called three different inspectors and 2 agreed that the current pipes were fine. (whew!) We now have a brand new shiny water heater that heats up super fast. They replaced the shower faucets/handles/shower heads without damaging any of the existing tilework. They accessed the valves from behind the shower via the sheetrock. The only downside is that I have large pieces of sheetrock missing, but they warned me when giving the quote that they don't do sheetrock repair, and I'd rather have that damaged than the tile. They took care not to get the carpet dirty and to clean up after themselves. They even took away all the trash from the water heater box and the old water heater. I am very happy with their work and when the time comes to replace the bathroom vanities, I will be calling them again.
Description of Work: New water heater installed and plumbing for it brought up to code. Water main pipe into house replaced and valve replaced. New showerheads/faucets/handles replaced (including valves) in both bathrooms.

They came out and fixed it. I took a picture, emailed it to the owner and he messaged me back in five minutes. He gave me an assessment and an estimate. He was right on the price. He came out in a day or two, they explained everything. They didn't push products on us. They told us about maintanance going forward. Initially they put in a wrong part. They modified it when the came back out 6 months later, they completely replaced the system they put in earlier at no cost. They were very apologetic. They showed up on time. They called ahead of time. They were punctual and reliable. It was excellent service.

One week ago we could not use our washing machine because the utility room would be flooded due to the clotted drain. I read some reviews on MET and felt that I could give it a try. Mr. Tucker was very responsive. Since both of us had a busy schedule, so finally I could stay home this afternoon for the service members. John Simmons came with Stonie. It seems that Stonie is his assistant. John Simmons is very friendly and pleasant. Both of them put their shoe covers on when they enter the house. John is very young but he knows the nature of the business. Before he started the work, he told me how much it would cost and what they were going to do. They first tried to work on the drainage pipe very close to the washing machine. Unfortunately it did not work. They then tried at kitchen drainage pipe out side of the house. It didn't solve the problem Finally they got on the roof to try. Now we can use the washing machine! I also told John that we had a leaky sink. He quickly fixed it with bare hands. He did not charge me for that. Although it took longer than they expected to solve the problem, they only charged me the flat fee. If I have any plumbing problem in the future I will definitely call MET Plumbing.
