+ -1 moreWe located Katy Blinds and Shades via the internet. We like to support local businesses when at all possible so we selected Katy Blinds and Shades. Dalea was our consultant and she was wonderful. She offered designing suggestions, helped us select the perfect color for our window treatments and was very proficient in her services. She was extremely pleasant and it was a great experience consulting with her. Two installers delivered our window treatments and installed them timely and neatly. After our installation, one of our shades appeared to be defective. We called Katy Blinds and Shades about it and someone was to our house in a couple of hours to investigate. It turned out to be just a minor installation issue but was fixed quickly and satisfactorily. Thank you Katy Blinds and Shades and especially to Dalea.

+ 0 moreI had a very good experience with them. I have used them in the past, probably in 2004 when they did the blinds for the entire house, and I spent $1700-2000. The only thing that they did special was they did some custom blinds for the kitchen cabinets. My wife took care of that as she wanted something very unique. They put a special color blind that was made only by one company, and they special ordered it and fixed it for us. They are a great resource. I know there are a lot of other people who have used them as well. Recently, we had some repairs and other work done in the house, and so we broke some of the blind clips and they just came and retuned all the blinds. They did a very good job. They actually had to order some special clips for the blinds in the kitchen because it was not one of theirs, and they did that free of cost. They just came in and did all that by themselves. I was pretty shocked as they did everything in one visit and the service was free of cost. They are pretty good on price, and my neighbor, who had also used their services, said that theirs was the best price, so even after almost 8 years, they are still good on price. A couple of things that really made me select them was their price and their professionalism. The way they did the estimation was very different from some of the other guys who came from very established companies and gave top prices. The guys from Katy Blinds who came in measured everything and they were very confident when they gave the estimate. They gave us the order and stated that they will come in by this date and install it, so they were able to give me a firm date and they came on the exact same date. They also stuck by the price, and the quality of their work was pretty good. They came in to a brand new and clean house and they left a very clean house. They had to do some drilling to fix the blinds, and there was no dust after they left. They cleaned up everything. That is the reason I recommended them to other people who moved in after I did, and I have asked people that I have referred them to about the experience they had and they said it was pretty good.

+ -1 moreWe needed blinds on the upper windows in our living room and shades on the stairway in our west side townhouse. Contacted Katy Blinds and told them what we were thinking but that since we both worked, any visits and the installation would have to be on the weekend or late in the day. Romer came out late the following afternoon to talk about options and get the general measurements so he could work up a quote. We needed white blinds to match the ones already installed on the lower windows (the upper windows were about 10' up). A couple days later Romer left us with the manufacturer's sample book so we could pick out the shades. We placed our order and made a deposit of 50% and they sent the installer over soon after to get detailed measurements and to make installation notes. About three weeks later we received a call that the blinds and shades were in and they scheduled the installer to come out late the following day. Installation for 5 sets of blinds (up high) and three shades took only about an hour. We are very happy with the installation and the service we recieved overall. Would definitely use Katy Blinds again.
Description of Work: Needed 2" white blinds installed on the high windows (about 10' Up) in our high ceilinged living room plus three shades on high windows in the stairwell of our west side townhouse. One window was app. 6' wide and the other four were app. 3' wide. The windows that needed the shades were roughly 2'w X 3' high, two of them were also very high up.

+ -1 moreRomer did a great job, arrived on time and knew exactly what I needed. The price was right and they delivered what they promised. The installation was great. They had to come in the evening, and were waiting for me when I got home. Polite, professional, fast and clean! They had to come back to finish the stairwell as it took two men and a special ladder, but again they were waiting for me when I got home from work. I could't be happier and will be back when I am ready to replace the other window treatments.

The shutters were ready sooner than expected and the gentlemen who installed them were very professional and knowledgeable. I had Katy Blinds and Shutters install plantation shutters throughout my house (except for the garden windows) about two years ago so I knew that I'd be getting the best professional service, best quality and best prices. They do everything the best!

When they saw a problem, they came back out and fixed it. I wouldn?t have noticed the scratches on the blinds, unless they had told me. I love them and I am very happy with them. I spent around $1500 on the job. I was very happy with their price.

+ -1 moreI had compared material prices online with other shutter manufacturers and intended to do the installation myself. However, since two of the windows were very large, I decided to ask for installation as well. I was pleased with the price, materials and quality and the prompt delivery. Installation by the crew was just a bonus to the quality and price. I have installed smaller interior shutters before and it was a pain to get them square, level and operating well. These pre-manufactured units were made to fit and installed quickly by this 2-man crew. I was impressed by David's final fitting techniques to insure that all of the blinds operated well after installation. He had to adjust hinges and magnets the smaller window after he did my requested revision.
Description of Work: I saw Katy Blinds & Shutters listed on Angie's List and called for a quote on 3 windows. I needed white, framed, Poly (plastic not wood), Plantation style, 2-1/2" wide blade interior shutters for a large den window over 8 feet wide by 4 feet high, a breakfast window 6 feet long by 4 feet high and a smaller kitchen sink window approximately 2 feet wide by 3 feet high. After calling in my dimensions and style, Katy Blinds made an appointment for Delia the sales rep to come to take measurements. She arrived on the day and time I told them and took measurements of each window. She showed me samples of the type of shutters and trim edges I was looking for, and answered some questions I had regarding how the framing would work around the windows. She gave me a written quote that matched my earlier telephone quote and discussed how the blinds were to be fitted on site when the installers came. I needed the installation to be completed before the Thanksgiving holidays and she called the shop and installer to insure this could be done. I was called 2 days later with confirmation of the day and time I had selected. They gave me a 2 hour window for the installers to arrive. On the day promised, David the installer called to ask if they could arrive earlier than I agreed to as they had finished their prior installations. I agreed. David and George arrived and began by removing my old mini blinds and installation hardware from each window box. Each shutter set was then set into place, nailed and adjusted to fit. The units were made to fit into each window box with a trim edge that extended outward from the edge of the window box frame onto the adjacent walls. Each went into place smoothly. George used a nail gun to secure them and after installing, he adjusted each window's hinges and magnets to operate smoothly. David asked me to use my broom and swept up the debris from the old miniblind hangers. For the kitchen window, before he installed, I asked him to cut the shutter frame edge to fit around some backsplash tiling instead of covering it up. George laid down a drop cloth and David took measurements and carefully cut to fit. After each installation, George sealed each shutter unit with caulk against the wall and window box and George touched up all his nail holes with white paint. The entire process took just under an hour to finish. I am very pleased with the shutters and plan to call this company again as my budget allows to replace other windows' blinds with shutters.

+ -1 moreRomer arrived on time for our initial appointment, and my wife and I discussed the various quotes we had received. We decided his was the best in all respects, and called a few days afterward to sign a contract and place a deposit. He told us the blinds would take 2 to 3 weeks to be delivered, but I received a call approximately a week and a half after our contract was signed. We had to delay installation about a week more since we weren't ready (we had not removed existing interior shutters). The installer was about 10 or 15 minutes early, courteous, and was done in about 1 and a half hours. In short, we received exactly what we wanted at a good price and are very pleased. Katy Blinds was the first company we had sourced from Angie's List, and won't be the last.

But Katy Blinds has very good customer feedback, so we decided to go see their sales office. Delia met with us. She was kind and polite. She knows all the types of shutters and their different features. She showed us all the upgraded features of the shutters and price differences. We appreciated that very much as there were no hidden fees. She came to our house to obtain correct measurements. She and her manager visited our house for the second time to make sure they could install the shutters the way we wanted. Our house was under renovation and we changed the installation date more than three times, which was beyond our control. Delia was always flexible and very sweet (I would be upset if other people did that to me). She tried her best and made sure that we had our shutters and blinds installed on the day we wanted. We could not thank Katy Blinds and Delia enough for their great service. Even the workers who installed the products were very nice and professional.

It took 5 weeks to get the shutters just as they had said. They were prompt in arriving and excellent in installing both the shutters and honeycomb blinds. It was the easiest purchase I have ever done and I couldn't be happier.

Description of Work: John from Katy Blinds and Shutters came out and did a free estimate while I waited. He was polite and very professional. He showed me several types of shutters with various options. Once I selected the two I liked he wrote up two separate estimates so I could discuss the options with my wife. After choosing our shutters John even called our builder to make sure that the blinds matched our trim. After the construction and painting was finished, John called back and scheduled a convenient instillation appointment. The crew that came to our house was amazing. They took great care in installing our shutters, they were extremely respectful of our property and took great care in not even making a mess. Despite the great care in their work I was amazed at how fast they were able to install all our shutters.

We met at a new construction site, house was not finished yet but he was able to guide us to what would look good in our unfinished home. + -1 moreGreat! The shutters were ready about 2-3 weeks ahead of what was expected. I received a phone call about one week prior to installation stating the time frame they would arrive and what to expect in detail. They arrived exactly in the time frame (actually right at the beginning) and were done installing in about 1.5 hours. The shutters were a little too big, but they were able to fix it right away; they brought their own equipment to shave off the edges to fit perfectly. They chalked the edges. They look completely professional, like they were supposed to be on the windows! We're very happy with them! :)

The office staff, courteous and professional, kept me informed of the estimated delivery times. They called to schedule the installation within a 2 hour window. The installers called before arriving. I had obtained at least two other estimates and, overall, the price and professionalism of Katy Blinds & Shutters was the best. My experience with everyone at Katy Blinds & Shutters was an excellent one and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to family or friends.
Description of Work: Katy Blinds & Shutters installed 8 faux wood blinds and one faux wood shutter. The gentleman who installed the blinds did an excellent job and cleaned up the mess after the job was done. Two men installed the shutter and, they too did an excellent job.
