Barons Chimney Service

We called Ted to see if he could repair our outdoor fire pit. We had used him before for an indoor gas fireplace repair, and were happy with his services. Ted does not normally work on outdoor fire pits, but said he would take a look and see if he could help us. Ted was very punctual and answered our e-mail through Angie's List very quickly. Our fire pit is approx. 10 years old, and the fire ring was rusted onto the gas pipe. Ted tried to remove it, but the pipe was too old, and was bending. After looking at the rest of the piping system, we decided we probably needed a plumber to replace all of the aging gas pipe. Ted worked for about 20 minutes trying to help us, and still wouldn't accept any payment because he wasn't able to solve our problem. He gave us the names of a couple of other companies that may be able to help. This is our second time using Baron's and we will certainly use them again. Fantastic experience both times, and Ted is a true gentleman.

Ted owner of Barons Chimney is a Certified Chimney Sweep and you will know this from the moment he enters your home! He is an experienced professional who knows his trade and just as important has the proper equipment to ensure a clean chimney with not a spec of dust in your home! He was prepared to check the outside chimney which meant a ladder to climb on top a story house... amazing as other companies would not do! Impressive! Will definitely request his services next need.

I had them come out because we thought the flue was stuck in the open position; turns out it was not broken, but the handle is just hard to manipulate (even after Ted showed me how I managed to scrape my knuckle trying to open/close it). I did have him go ahead and clean the chimney. He was very careful with our furniture. He spread out a clean white cloth, carefully covering the entire area directly in front of the fireplace. He was quick, friendly, and professional. He put everything back where it was before he started working. I'm very happy with his work.

Mr. Knight responded promptly to my messages and phone call. I have a varied work schedule and we had to change the appointment for the estimate 3 times because of that however he was very willing to work with us. The work was great. Our chimney had not been used in about 3 years and he cleaned it very well and installed the top plate over the stack which had been missing for some time. The price was very reasonable and it only took him about 45 minutes for the whole job. We are going to set up an appointment to have him install gas logs in about a month. We were very pleased with the work and he is very professional in all aspects. That is VERY difficult to find these days. *UPDATE* We made another appointment on 9/18 to have gas logs installed and the whole process was very quick. He arrived a little early which was great and took less than a hour to install the logs. The logs look very pretty and we have already tried them out. Excellent job!!

I am the original owner of a 35 year old, brick home, with a nice fireplace. Several years ago, something damaged the top of my chimney, the mortar crown, and topper fell, leaving the top of the chimney open completely. The brick started to loose layers, and I did not know of a company that could fix my problem. I have used "Angies List" on other occasions, and have been satisfied with the work, new water heater, and new outdoor faucets etc., but the chimney issue was unique, and finally, " Barons Chimney Service" offered a chimney inspection, and repair option. I called the company, and received a call back the same day. The owner, Ted Knight, was on another job, but agreed to meet with me that evening to take a look, and give me an estimate. He arrived at my home, and after the introductions, and my explanation of the problem, proceeded to remove extension ladders from his company van, and climb onto my roof. Ted Knight was very thorough, and professional in his evaluation and explained that other than the above mentioned issues, that their was 8 feet of cracked flue-tile that had to be replaced. I braced for his estimate, but was very pleased with his quote. They started the work the next evening, Ted Knight, and his assistant Pete, lowered ladders down through my chimney to retrieve fallen brick, and to remove the damaged flue-tile, and replace with 8 feet of the new flue-tile. They replaced several layers of brick on the chimney, and sealed the top with a mortar cap, and if that was not enough," Barons Chimney Service ", because I was an Angies List user gave me a free chimney topper! I am in my first year of retirement, and have during my life time worked with many contractors, but I highly recommend "Barons Chimney Service" and especially the owner Ted Knight for his integrity, and workmanship!

There were birds.....Ted came and got them out. Put a weighted screen on top of the chimney and told us to call him and tell him we were ok. Well, a few days later it sounded like a raccoon convention in there. The noise scared the baby and the wife. Ted came back and found one squirrel had been hiding in there the whole time. It took that second trip, which was an hour, to evict mr. squirrel. In the end we had our family room back. We were charged only for the first trip. It was a reasonable charge. This contractor made us feel comfortable with his skill and his "I'll be done when it's done right" attitude. Thanks Ted. Great job.

I chose this company because they are out of Katy and not being dispatched from out of state. I was very happy with the entire process. Ted was the person that did the work for me. He was reliable in every way. On the first visit, he came to inspect, clean & deodorize. He was on time and called when he was on his way. He left me with an estimate of the work that needed to be done which was pressure wash & water proof the chimney, point the holes in the mortar and rebuild 2 sides of the firebox. The repair work had to be done in more than one visit, because it had to be done in a particular order and the brick had to be dry in order to waterproof. It was during the very rainy part of the spring this year, so he rebuild the firebox first and came back twice to do the exterior work. I was very impressed with the fact that he wanted to wait until the brick was absolutely dry before doing the waterproofing. He wanted to make sure it was done right. This meant that he had to depend on the weather and remain in contact with me frequently which he did. I had already paid him for the work before he could complete the final waterproofing, but I still received excellent service until the job was done. He was honest, straight forward and dependable. I would hire him again and recommend this company.

Ted did a great job. Very professional. No surprises. I've had a lot of contractors do sloppy work and he did not. Very clean. Worth the money. We had a separate issue pertaining to the chimney a few months later. He came out free of charge and told us what needs to be done. Next winter we will have him do it.

The job went very well and overall I was very pleased with the quality and professional service provided by Barons Chimney. My fireplace is working great and has served us well throughout this cold Houston winter.

Wow, was I impressed with Ted Knight. He came on time and did a highly professional job on three fireplaces that needed cleaning and repair. Cleaned up after himself. And what is even more important and a rarity today, Ted is an honest business owner, someone you can trust. I know this because years back I had hired another service and they told me one of my fireplaces was beyond repair and needed a new firebox. This is a big job and would have cost more than $2,500. Ted inspected it and told me, yes I could replace it but I could also very safely repair the damage. All these years I've gone without using my fireplace and I wish I had found Ted earlier. Now I am enjoying the warmth and comfort without the worry....and my bank account thanks him!

The service went very well. They showed up 15 minutes earlier than promised, and phoned to say they were happy to wait outside if we weren't ready for them. The man was very professional and friendly, and we were extremely pleased with the service.

He did a great job and was very efficient. Brought a drop cloth and cleaned up after the work. Was very prompt in scheduling for the rest of the repairs to be done and had great suggestions for things we needed to be aware of in the future. He is also very personable and we felt very comfortable having him in our home. Very satisfied customer.

Ted is a very experienced in all things chimney. I have a very high arch on my chimney that is difficult to reach but he had no problem with it. It took several ladders to get to it. He went up and took pictures to show me the problem. I had no mortor crown around the chimney opening. The mesh cap had been tore away by critters of some sort. Last winter I had raccoons in my chimney. He went and got the new cap and did the work the very next day. Ted explained a couple of different options to me and which one he thought was best. I agreed with him completely. I really appreciate the fact that he has many years experience. He has seen nearly everything! He finished the job in one morning and took an "after" picture. It looks great now. He checked inside my chimney to make sure there was no critter inside there also. I highly recommend Ted Knight and Baron's Chimney Service. Baron's Chimney Service are pretty good. I called him on Monday and he came out on Tuesday. He actually came out earlier than he promised.

They were very good. He even wanted to put little booties on his shoes when he came in the house.
